Dolores Catherine Eymann - April 30, 1932 - March 02, 2024

Departed: 03/02/2024 (Lansing)
Obituary Preview: Lifetime Lansing resident Dolores Eymann quietly passed from this, her earthly home, at the age of 91. Born to immigrant parents, Natividad and Alexander Chepy, Dolores was the youngest of five children, all of whom predeceased her, as did her husband Paul and son Jeff. Her surviving sons are Mark Eymann (Lansing) and Gary of Winter Park, Florida.
Dolores was a longtime member of Life Way Community Church which she attended when her health allowed. With faith as the core foundation of her being, she found comfort and purpose in prayer during her most difficult times.
Dolores wished (and maybe prayed) for daughters but instead had sons, whom she dearly loved and sometimes tolerated, depending on the situation. She also loved babies! Put one near her, and soon it was in her arms. Dolores helped raise two babies when their mother was unable to, and as young men they came back to thank her. Aunt Dee was a terrific and loving aunt, with numerous nieces, nephews and grands, with one grandniece, Cathy, named after her.
Graduating from Resurrection High School in 1950, Dolores was rather quiet, but she had a spirited side, and may have left a lasting impression on a few of the nuns. Some of her school pals envied her first job, that of an usher at the plush Michigan theater in downtown Lansing. Dressed in an official burgundy uniform, sporting a flashlight in her hand, Dolores got paid to dress up and watch the latest movies in town. What young adult wouldn’t love that? Her face always lit up when she talked about what a special experience that was.
After marrying and getting her three sons grown enough for her to work again, Dolores took an office position at the John Henry Company, remaining there until retirement. With family always a driving value, and maybe because she was the youngest, Dolores was devoted to her sisters, especially the eldest (by twelve years), Julie, whom Dolores always counted on for support and quality time. They were very close.
Her favorite restaurant was the Hibachi Grill & Sushi Buffet on West Saginaw, where Dolores and Mark met up with various family members for good food and company. As her mobility, hearing and health issues advanced, so did Mark’s caregiving duties, all the way to the end.
Never one to draw attention to herself or her the difficulties that beset her, Dolores Eymann smiled more than most people who are far more fortunate than she was. Her inner spark and strength of character were always there, flashing when least expected. She will be missed. Donations may be made in her name to the Capital Area Humane Society.

Mildred A Schafer - April 19, 1928 - February 23, 2024

Departed: 02/23/2024 (Lansing)
Obituary Preview: Mildred A. Schafer, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at the age of 95 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Born on April 19, 1928, in Ionia County, Michigan, Mildred's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of devotion to her family, unwavering faith, and a nurturing spirit that touched all who knew her.
Mildred's journey began as one of many siblings, and her early years in Ionia County were filled with the laughter. Mildred's heart found its match in Arthur Schafer, her beloved husband of 69 years, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life rich in shared moments and enduring love.
A dedicated homemaker, Mildred's home was a reflection of her heart: welcoming, warm, and comforting. Mildred's commitment to her faith was evident in her membership with St. Casimir Catholic Parish, where she found strength and community.
Mildred's legacy is carried on by her loving children, Scott (Maryann), Gordon (Mary), Elaine, and Randy (Sandy) Schafer, who will forever cherish the lessons of compassion and resilience their mother instilled in them. Her memory will also be treasured by her brother Justin and sisters Irene, Bertha, and Rita, who stood by her side through life's many seasons. Mildred's eight grandchildren, Heather, Shannon, Todd, Luke, Kial, Grant, Allison, and Jordan, "will miss their grandmother's along with her nine great-grand children. Also Many more family members and friends.
Mildred's life was also marked by the loss of her dear son Russell Schafer, and her siblings Marvin, Alvin, Clarence, Fred, Don, Stephen, Marie, Dorothy, and Esther who she carries their memories.
As we bid farewell to Mildred A. Schafer, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love. Mildred's journey on this earth has ended, but her story—written in the lives she touched—will endure forever.
