Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois with one hour viewing prior to service.  Jim Giffin will be officiating.  Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Shobonier, Illinois.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Pagel Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Memorials may go to the American Cancer Society or Donor’s Choice.
Geraldine was born on May 17, 1928 in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of George and Rose (Myer) Meyer.  She married Harold F. Lange on October 6, 1946 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Peter, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on December 30, 1975.  She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Larry Lange (companion Carolyn Colman) of Louisville, IL; daughters, Linda Sullens of Foley, Alabama, Ruth Dennis (husband Steve) of Decatur, IL; Kimberly Smith (husband Ron) of Altamont, IL; Beverly Lee of Altamont, IL; brother, Elmer Meyer of St. Peter, IL; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rose Meyer; husband, Harold F. Lange; daughters, Carolyn Lange and Dorothy Lux; sons-in-law, Dale Lux, and Michael Sullens, Sr.; brother, Vernon Meyer; and sister, Hilda Aukamp.

There will be a visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter. Pastor Ryan Meyer will be officiating. Doris was born on November 11, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Mary (Fredrickson) Buechsenschuss.  She was a registered nurse, homemaker, and former owner of Doris’ Collectibles.
At Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio she was an RN, often as a surgical nurse.  She married Elmer Wollin on April 14, 1951.  Elmer & Doris were dairy farmers up until the late 1970’s.  In 1976 they started Doris’ Collectibles buying and selling Bing & Grondahl collector plates from her mother’s homeland of Denmark.  They had a thriving business in St Peter and took that business on the road throughout the Midwest making many dear friends along the way.  That business evolved into Authentic Street Signs, currently operated by Mark & Marcia Wollin.  Doris enjoyed helping wherever she could, always with a smile.  She was active in the family business until the age of 81.
Her passion was cooking and baking.  As a teenager she was up before dawn helping her father deliver bread to stores in Toledo, Ohio.  After marriage, she made wedding cakes for a short time and later became known for her delicious German Chocolate and Carrot cakes.  She enjoyed sewing in her younger years, making her own wedding gown as well as clothes for her children and nieces.  In later years she developed a talent for writing beautiful poetry reflecting her Christian values.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and LWML.  She was a beautiful soul and had a gift for making people feel special and loved.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Wollin of St. Peter; Mark (wife Marcia) Wollin of St. Peter, daughter, Pauline Wollin of Effingham; granddaughter, Megan (husband Nathan) Murphree of St. Peter; great-granddaughters, Allie and Lucy Murphree of St. Peter, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; brother, Donald Buechsenschuss.

Troy G. Peters - May 13, 1960 - October 24, 2021

Obituary Preview: Born May 13, 1960, in Elgin, IL, two months early and only three pounds, Troy Gordon Peters started out tiny, but grew up strong. Born to Evelyn Peters, Hencke (Moeller) and Gordon Denis Peters, who both preceded him in death.
At age 10 Troy, his mother and younger brother, Gordon Denis Peters II (Kim Harbison) of Conway Springs, KS moved back to the St. Peter area. The boys grew up on the family farm that had belonged to their grandparents and even great-grandparents. In 1977 Evelyn married Vernon Hencke and on Troy’s 20th birthday. Three years later he was given another brother, Benjamin Vernon Raymond Hencke (Erica Lawless) of Carbondale, IL. Their mother, Evelyn Hencke was very proud of her three sons.
On March 3, 1984, Troy married Lori Stucky at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shobonier, IL. Pastor Douglas Meyer officiated. They divorced after 35 years and remained friends. They have a daughter, Amelia Diane Peters, and one granddaughter, Skyeleigh Diane Ray Charlton. Troy spent most of his career in the computer tech field. He enjoyed his work very much. He loved dirt track racing, Nascar, music and computer games. He loved to cook and was always trying something new.
It is a testimony to Troy’s life that after the divorce he sought God. He began going to church at Kinmundy Christian Church and was baptized there. His soul was saved and he began helping others.  He loved his church and his church family. Preceded in death by his sponsors, who were also his aunt and uncle, Judith English and Theodor Moeller, whom he loved very much. He had other uncles that he loved dearly as well, Eugene Moeller, Floyd Moeller and Harold Butts, along with aunts, Vera Moeller, Marion Butts (Moeller) and Bernice Sachan (Moeller) who have also preceded him in death.
Troy had several friends, but three were very close to him, Pat O’Leary, Marc Mays and his neighbor Bob Spencer. Pat has recently passed on and was a dear family friend. Marc and Bob live on to carry the friendship they each had with Troy in their hearts. Troy had several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by two aunts: Betty Moeller (Altamont, IL), Judy Loechelt, (Elgin, IL).

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Wayne was known for collecting, crushing, and recycling cans. He loved listening to old western and gospel music.
He is survived by his niece, Sara Teed (husband Nathan) of Iowa; great-nieces and nephews, Marcus, Brayden, and Ella Teed; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Edna Bergmann; sister, Janice Inman; brother-in-law, James Inman.

Dorothy was born August 1, 1928 in Marion County, Illinois, the daughter of Dewey and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Hanbaum) and stepmother Mary Combs. Dorothy was a member of the Southpoint Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a supervisor for State Farm Insurance for 55 years. Dorothy enjoyed workin g and spending time with her family, friends, and her caretaker Deanna. She spent her last few years at The Glenwood Assisted Living which she called home.
She is survived by her  nephew, Bryan Combs (wife Patty) of Kinmundy, Illinois; and great-nephew, Riley Combs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Minnie Combs; stepmother, Mary Combs; brother, Harry Combs; sister-in-law, Ruth Combs.

Delmar was born on August 29, 1929 in St. Peter, Illinois, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Gabel) Moeller. He married Janice Haynes on September 25, 1958 in St. Peter, Illinois. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Delmar served on the school board as well as the town board. He loved mushroom and deer hunting, fishing, square and tap dancing, bowling, spending time with his family and friends, and was an excellent roller skater. Delmar built and worked on several houses in the St. Peter area. On February 14, 2019, he was crowned King at Lutheran Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Moeller of St. Peter, Illinois; son, Terry Moeller (wife Nancy) of Farina, Illinois; three daughters, Trudy Thompson (husband John) of Vandalia, Illinois, Trieva Henson of St. Peter, Illinois, and Teresa Hinterscher (husband Dave) of Noble, Illinois; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lillian Moeller; brothers, Walter “Butch” Moeller and Willard Moeller; twin sister, Delphine Rubin; sisters, Ruth Hinrichs, Roberta Hinrichs, and Shirley Halverson.

Della was born on January 14, 1930 in Bible Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Burnie and Lillie L. (Specht) Brooks.  She was a retired schoolteacher, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education; she earned a Home Economics Major and English Minor from Southern Illinois, Carbondale in 1952 and Master’s Degree of Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1974.  She taught high school Home Economics in Farina, Brownstown, and Mulberry Grove, and spent many years as a third-grade teacher in St. Elmo, Illinois.  Her career spanned from 1954 through 1994, teaching for 40 years.
Della married Myron D. Pontious on July 27, 1952 in rural Bible Grove and celebrated 61 years of marriage.  In addition to being a wife, a mother, and a teacher, she actively helped with the operation of the farm for many years.  She was a member of the Macedonia Christian Church, a former Sunday School teacher, a former 4-H leader, the Fayette County Ladies Home Bureau, and a member of the St. Peter American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.  She had many hobbies and interests.  She loved to play the piano and organ at church. For pleasure, she camped and rode horses over many Southern Illinois trails, and expressed her artistic talents through oil painting and entering some canvases in regional art exhibitions.  Della loved to travel, visiting all 50 states in North America, the Caribbean, and European countries.
Della is survived by her one son, Brent Pontious (wife Deborah) of rural St. Peter, Illinois; two daughters, Mitzi Schwertfeger of Plymouth, Wisconsin, Michele Perkins (husband Keith) of Effingham, Illinois; sister-in-law, Joyce Brooks of  Bible Grove, Illinois; six grandchildren, Alex Pontious (wife Stacy) of Columbia, Illinois, Adam Pontious (wife Julie) of Franksville, Wisconsin, Alexandria Pontious of St. Peter, Illinois, Josh Perkins (wife Emily) of Effingham, Illinois, Kimberly Perkins of Effingham, Illinois, Lee Schwab of Des Moines, Iowa; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden Pontious, Owen Pontious, Madison Pontious and Dawson Perkins.

She enjoyed being the copilot for her husband, crocheting, singing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Marilyn was born on September 22, 1940 in Iuka, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis Edwin and Leona (Widdows) Eakin.  She married Floyd Magnus on February 24, 1962 in Pine Lawn, Missouri.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  She was a former member of Fayette County Board.  She was a member of St. Peter Home Extension for 58 years.  She was a founding member of St. Peter Area Cancer Support Group. She was retired from St. Peter Insurance Agency. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.  As much as she loved to spread joy, she also collected “JOY” memorabilia.
She is survived by her daughter, Glori Magnus of St. Peter, Illinois; granddaughter, Jessica Burmeister of Flora, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Parker, and Scarlett Burmeister of Flora, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Ruth Summann of Shobonier, Illinois.

She is survived by her sons, John (wife Judy) Schnarre of St. Peter, James David (wife Dee) Schnarre of Farina; daughters, Janine Lotz of Vandalia, Janet Metzger of Shobonier, Joyce (husband Kevin) Storck of Farina, and Julie (husband Greg) Hoover of St. Peter; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Eileen was born on December 14, 1925 in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Edmund and Ella (Schnake) Rubin. She married Omar William Ehrat on June 17, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a member of the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was very a proud member of the church choir for over 30 years.  She was a bookkeeper for Maske and Ehrat and Lynn’s Sales and Service for the entirety of the businesses. She loved playing cards, gardening, flowers, cooking, watching her husband golf, watching her grandchildren play sports, taking her grandsons and great-grandsons on vacations in the summer, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Westphal (husband Ted) and Mary Ehrat both of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brian Westphal (wife Lauri) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Brady Westphal (wife Jenny) of O’Fallon, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Westphal (wife Charlotte) of Boston, Massachusetts, Nicholas Westphal (wife Annalise) Cary, North Carolina, Matthew Westphal of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Michael Westphal of O’Fallon, Missouri.

Gladys was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she was incredibly involved and sang in the church choir. She did work with the Lutheran Braille Workers in Effingham for several years. She loved canning vegetables, gardening, traveling, helping her husband on the farm, quilting with the Ladies, and spending time with her family and friends.
