Departed: 01/28/2024 (New Alexandria)
Obituary Preview: Delores George Widdowson, 96, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024.
Delores lived in Indiana, PA until she married John (Jack) Widdowson, Sr.  They moved to Gary, Indiana for a time, then moved back to Western PA.  She is survived by her son, Jack (Linda) Widdowson, daughter, Barbara (Richard) Kareis, and daughter, Col. Walter George and Erma Kunkle George and her brother, Raymond George.
She will always be remembered as a loving mom and grandmother.   She enjoyed traveling all over the United States and especially to the Navy reunions for the USS Gilmore. A favorite pastime was putting together jigsaw puzzles which she passed on to 3 generations of her family.  Baking was another favorite of hers, especially pies.  Mom will always be remembered for having a home everyone felt welcome and always left being refreshed.  PA has lost a bright light and beautiful soul, but her mark on her family of love, compassion, and kindness will be carried on by future generations.  She was a role model anyone would be proud to be compared to and a member of the Greatest Generation.  Though the sky is darker, the light of her example will continue to lead the way.
The family wants to thank St. Anne’s Nursing Home Staff, especially Lori, and the Heartland Hospice team of Maureen, Sheri, Lisa, and Amber, their compassionate care of mom.

Judith Ann Elliott - April 16, 1954 - January 07, 2024

Departed: 01/07/2024 (New Alexandria)
Obituary Preview: Judith Ann Elliott passed away at home in Murrysville, PA on Sunday, January 7, 2024. She passed peacefully in the beautiful and loving home that she helped to build with her beloved partner of 28 years, Mike Cain, and under the loving care of her niece, Sheri Gongaware Fitzpatrick.
Born on April 16, 1954, in New Alexandria, PA, Judi was the daughter of the late Donald P. Elliott Sr. and Rose Marie (Slezak) Elliott. Judi was preceded in death by her brother Donald P. Elliott, Jr. and sister Kathleen Gongaware. She is survived by her brother Daniel Elliott and his wife Tracie, sister-in-law Patty Elliott, and several nieces and nephews. She is also mourned by Mike’s brothers, sister, and extended Cain family.
Judi was a beautiful and unique person. She was thoughtful, generous, self-deprecating, welcoming, and responsible, with a strong sense of justice and a great sense of humor. All who knew her wanted to make her laugh to hear her heartfelt laugh. She was kind to everyone she met and provided unfailing and thoughtful support to both of their families. When children came to visit, she would have games and toys waiting for their arrival, and as soon as their exhausted parents started to run after the kids, Judi would shoo the parents away, telling them to take a break and relax, she had everything taken care of.
Judi was fiercely loyal and defended her values. She had zero tolerance for nasty words in their house. Kindness to children and animals was paramount. She adored her dogs, who respected and loved her as the confident authority she was.
Judi was very disciplined. She ran a tight ship at work, kept a pristine home, and sweated hard at the gym and in Zumba classes.
Judi greatly appreciated beauty in nature and cultivated gorgeous perennial gardens and potted plants, despite the frequent visits from the neighborhood deer. She cherished memories of the beautiful scenery and gardens she experienced on their travels.   Knowing how busy she was and how hard Judi worked to create and maintain a welcoming home and stunning gardens, it's amazing how much time she dedicated to reading. Judi was an avid reader, always with several books going at a time.
Judi was a treasure to her friends and family and an exemplar to all. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at a memorial gathering from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, 215 Church St., New Alexandria, PA 15670, 724-668-2248, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Giddings officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria, PA will be private. Judi and Mike request that donations in her honor be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania or to a charity of choice.
They also wish to acknowledge, with gratitude and appreciation, the care provided by Independence Hospice.  To send condolences, please visit www.NewhouseFuneralHome.com.
