Obituary Preview: Aneita L. Metzger, 93, of Carlock passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2019 at the Villas of Holly Brook, Bloomington, IL. Aneita was born March 2, 1926, in Carlock to Thomas and Ruth Rader Swearingen. Aneita grew up in Carlock where she met her husband-to-be, Montel B. Metzger. They married on October 26, 1946, in Carlock. Aneita and Montel were a team for almost 72 years. Montel died in October 2018.
She is survived by their three children, Tom (Margie) Metzger, Waupaca, Wis.; Dee Metzger, Normal; LuAnne Hollingshead, Naperville, IL; five grandchildren, Mindy (Paul) Vitucci, Madison, Wis.; Molly (Tim) Struve, Newport, Ky.; Mary (Alex) Groth, Spicewood, Texas; Hunter Hollingshead, Chicago, IL; and Regan Hollingshead, Lawrence, Kan.; and five great-grandchildren, Jack Vitucci, Emma Vitucci, Madeleine Struve, Lorelei Struve and Josephine Groth. Aneita is preceded in death by her husband, parents; one brother, Harold Swearingen; and an infant brother.
Aneita spent her entire life in Carlock. She met her "Peoria Boy" Montel and they settled down there and raised their family. They made many lifelong friends in the area. She was the Carlock Chronicle newspaper editor for many years. For over 60 years Aneita assisted her husband in the family business, the Montel B Metzger Insurance Agency. They also assisted Barney Argo with Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Carlock. She and Montel often clerked auctions for many years. Summers were spent at the McLean County Fair, the Illinois State Fair and other local fairs watching her three children show sheep and cattle. For over 20 years she was a constant figure ringside. Aneita would bring delicious warm meals from home and clean laundry for her kids!
In their later years Aneita and Montel enjoyed taking cruises. Together they made their trips around town to the Mennonite Relief Sale, local auctions and estate sales. Seldom did you see one without the other! Aneita was a member of the Carlock Christian Church. She played the organ for church services, weddings and funerals. Aneita was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Bradley University and a local business school. Aneita enjoyed watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles. She was an excellent speller. Her body was failing her, but Aneita's mind remained sharp and was was stubborn until the end! Aneita was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. There was nothing she enjoyed more than holding a baby and just gazing lovingly at the little ones. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Ali was born June 10, 1925 in Carlock, Illinois, the son of Ali G. and Anna Weidinger Stahly, Sr. He married Dolores Hartman April 18, 1946 in Bloomington, IL. They farmed near Danvers where their children Roger and Susan were born. In 1957 they moved to Morton where Ali joined his brother Maurice in the transport and truck sales business in North Pekin. In 1970 Ali retired and he and Dolores spent their time between Morton and Sun City, Arizona. Surviving is a daughter Susan and her husband Steve McCowan, Mission, TX,
their children Tim McCowan, Bloomington and Terri (Joe) Metz, and Susan and Steve’s grandson, Kameron Metz of Morton, along with special nieces, Joyce, Patricia and Sandy.
Ali is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores on August 13, 2007, son Roger, and siblings, Cloyd, Lola, Etta, Opal, Lorene, Verda, Lory, Maurice and Norval. Ali was the last living family member.

Montel was born April 28, 1924 in Kappa, IL the son of Lee W. and Ethel B. (Burger) Metzger. He married Aneita L. Swearingen on October 26, 1946 in Carlock, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his 3 children, LuAnne Hollingshead , Naperville, IL, Tom ( Margie) Metzger, Waupaca, WI, Dee Metzger, Normal IL.; 5 grandchildren, Mindy (Paul) Vitucci, Madison, WI, Molly (Tim) Struve, Newport, KY, Mary (Alex) Groth, Spicewood, TX, Hunter Hollingshead, Chicago, IL, and Regan Hollingshead, Lawrence, KS; and 5 great-grandchildren, Jack Vitucci, Emma Vitucci, Madeleine Struve, Lorelei Struve, and Josephine Groth.
Montel is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Keith Metzger and an infant sister.
Montel grew up in Peoria, IL and graduated from Peoria Central High. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1944-1946 where participated in Po Valley Campaigns in Northern Italy as a rifleman with Company I, 86th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division. He was honorably discharged June 29, 1946. Upon his return Montel resumed studies and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, IL. He started the Metzger Insurance Agency, Carlock, IL in 1952. He and Aneita assisted Barney Argo with Argo Funeral Home, Carlock for many years. Montel and Aneita enjoyed traveling and especially loved taking cruises. Montel was a member the Blue Lodge AF & AM, Bloomington Consistory and Mohammed Temple Shrine. He was a 4-H Leader for the Ardent Tillers, Carlock and he sponsored a trophy at the McLean County Fair for the Champion Hereford Heifer. Montel also farmed in the Carlock area for many years. He enjoyed spending time at his farm. Summers were spent at the McLean County Fair, the Illinois State Fair and many other local fairs watching his children show sheep and cattle. He and Aneita also clerked auctions for many years. He was a regular at the sale barn. Montel defied his age and continued to drive out to his farm as often as possible. Just a year ago he sold off the last of his cattle. He enjoyed the daily meeting of his regular coffee group at Denny's. Montel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Walter was born March 18, 1933 in Manzanola, Colorado the son of Walter Edward and Bernice Banes Hamby Sr. Walter moms died shortly after child birth, he was raised by Emma Hamby McGee. He married Laura Bell Hawkins on November 1, 1953 in Arkansas. She passed away December 15, 2015. Surviving is his nephew, Mike (Dawn ) Hawkins, Heyworth, IL, 2 brothers, Homer (Ruth) Hamby, Silver City, New Mexico, Donnie (Jan) Hamby, Las Vegas, Nevada and several beloved nieces and nephews

2 sisters, Marie Petrowski, Metamora, IL and Edna (Bill) Tellkamp, Punta Gorda, FL.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Linda and her husband Bob farmed, raised hogs and cattle in rural Carlock for over 55 years.
She loved singing and music. Linda’s family was the most important thing in the world to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew her.

handling arrangements. Charlie was born August 26, 1947 in Bloomington to Melvin E. and Ada Mae Thacker Hendricks. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two bothers Paul and Ronnie Hendricks. He is survived by three sisters, Janice I. Reimer of Carlock, Connie (Phil) Raistrick of Bradenton, Florida, Rita (David) Garrison of Carlock, seven nieces and nephews, Susan (Doug) Reimer Sifford of Winter Spring, FL, Sandra (Mark) Wilson of Bloomington, Pamela (John) Rosa of Bloomington, Patricia (Scott) Harter of Bloomington, Brian (Kerstin) Wiles of Atlanta, GA, Matthew (Magdalena) Garrison of Chicago, and Kristin (Jason) Smith of Leroy. Charlie worked many years as a Laborer for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was an active member of Carlock Mennonite Church, CASA, and in the IDOT Teamsters Union. He had a passion for the Special Olympics where he was active in the Heart of Illinois Special Olympics. He loved the times he spent riding his Harley-Davidson Bike with his friends. He and his friends also attended every FarmAid concert. He had a love for trains, as well as model trains and his 1950 Plymouth Coupe he restored and loved to take on afternoon drives. He affectionately called it “Buffy”. Charlie was a loving brother and uncle and will be deeply missed. She was born May 29, 1920 in Bloomington to Jesse and Della Lippencott Kohler. She married Donald F. Eickhorst on May 20, 1945 in Oakland, CA. He preceded her in death on February 16, 2004. She was also preceded in death by one sister Lucille Kohler.
Roberta is survived by three sons Ronald (Gretchen) Eickhorst of St. Charles, MO, Steven (Charmaine) Eickhorst of Bloomington, Craig (Twila) Eickhorst of Carlock, six grandchildren, Jenny Eickhorst, Blake Eickhorst, Kyle (Lisa) Eickhorst, Reid (Stephanie) Eickhorst, Jonathan (Lindsay) Eickhorst, Emily (Andrew) McIntosh, seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Colin, Miles, Hudson, Elijah, Elliana, and Ella Grace Eickhorst.
Roberta graduated from Carlock High School in 1938 and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. She and Don lived in Downers Grove until 1951 when they moved to her family’s farm south of Carlock. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and golf. She was a member of North Danvers Mennonite Church, White Oak Home Extension, and McLean County Farm Bureau and a volunteer at Mennonite Hospital for several years. Roberta deeply loved her family and found great joy in their lives and accomplishments.
The family wishes to thank the staff at McLean County Nursing Home for their love and excellent care the past two years. It will always be remembered and appreciated.

Weldon was born on October 16, 1928 in Carlock to George and Edna Woosley Fogle. He married Eloise LaVern Strawn on March 31, 1951 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1985. He later married Pat Garrett on February 25, 1989. She preceded him in death December 15, 2007. He is also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Weldon is survived by his children, Merrill Vick, Alice(Jerry) Robinson, Jerry (Mona) Fogle, Mary Kay Kappes, John (Pam Hill) Fogle, Lou (Tim) Daniel, Jim Fogle, Nancy (Kevin) Bohannon, and Andy Fogle as well as his step-children Mike (Marilyn) Garrett, Linda (Jim) Kearney, and Brenda (Dennis Comtois) Tarver, fifteen grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and fifteen step great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Gregory “Willie” Williams, 57, diedon Christmas morning (Dec. 25, 2015) at his home in rural Carlock.
A celebration of life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2015 at The Outpost in Armington. It will be a casual affair. Bring your favorite “Willie” story to share.
Greg was born Aug. 4, 1958, in Peoria, to James and Joyce Conaway Williams. He grew up in Morton and graduated from Morton High School in 1976. He joined the Navy after graduation from high school.
Willie married Renee Golden on April 25, 1986. She is trying to survive his death.
He is also survived by his sisters, Jackie (John) Krueger, Lexington, and Vickie (Doyce) Warren, Armington. Also surviving are his nephews, Clint (Laura) Hagen, Will Krueger and Nik (Sabrina) McCord; nieces, Sonja Krueger and Angel (Jim) Thompson; a great-nephew, Christopher, who always “keeps him in his heart”; and two great-nieces, Katlyn and Jazzmine. He also leaves behind three very sad dogs, Larry, Lucy and Ramona.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepsons, Sam and Brandon Miller.
Willie was a wonderful stepdad to Sam and Brandon. They looked up to him and sought his advice. He shared his love of music with them, and he was the strong father figure during their short lives. He was also their friend. Sam and Brandon knew that they could always count on Willie for anything.
Willie had many friends who were touched by his humor, his wisdom, his generosity and his outlook on life. Willie lived life on his own terms.
He was one of the founders of Normal N.O.R.M.L. and the short-lived Green Socks. Willie loved to fish, play poker, travel and just hang out with his many friends. He was a hard worker and believed that you have to work for whatever you want in this world. He had a passion for music. He and Renee would travel many miles just to hear a band or go to a show.
