Nancy Ott Hendricks, 71 years of age, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024. Nancy was born October 16, 1952, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Louie P. Ott and Iris Herndon Ott. Nancy was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Georgia Southern University. She taught fourth grade at Lockett Elementary for 34 years until her retirement then she taught at Bowman Academy and Clarendon Hall. She loved spending time at Edisto Beach and Edisto River whenever possible.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM, Friday, May 10, 2024,in the chapel of Ott Funeral Home, Branchville, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Ashley) Shuler of Branchville. She was “Nanny” to her granddaughter, Baylee Suzann Shuman. She is survived by one nephew, Louie P. Ott III (Judy), of Branchville, two great nieces, Lindsey Ott Smoak (Drake) and Jenna Ott, and her two faithful dog companions, Gus and Brownie. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Louie P. Ott Jr., sister-in-law, Sharon H. Ott and sister, Janie L. Ott.

Phyllis Sharlene Linder, 58, of Smoaks, SC, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, Charleston, SC.  Sharlene was born in Bamberg, SC to the late Joseph Daniel (JD) Linder and Melba Bessinger Linder.   Sharlene attended Buckhead Advent Christian Church and loved her church family.  She was a registered nurse for 40 plus years who cared for her patients with love and compassion.  She was a daughter, sister, aunt, mom, ya ya and friend to many.  Survivors include her son, Cade Daniel Linder of Smoaks, SC; sister, Melba Kay (Ricky) Barr of Smoaks; Nephew, Zachary Allen (Taylor) Barr of Columbia, SC; Niece, Brooke Danielle Barr of Smoaks, SC; and a great nephew Hudson Allen Barr of Columbia, SC. Graveside services will be held at eleven o’clock a.m. on Saturday March 30, 2024 at Hagan Cemetery in Smoaks, SC with the Reverend Dennis Hall and Rev. Dan Stroman. 62 of Orangeburg passed away unexpectedly on March 09. Hal was the son of Harold Gene Cooner Sr. of Bamberg and the late Betty Altman Hester of Branchville. He is survived by his stepfather, Joe Hester of Branchville, niece Jaime Kay Cisco(Brian), nephew TC (Jennifer) Cooner both of Charleston and a number of cousins. Hal was preceded in death by his grandparents Stacey(Lottie) Altman of Branchville and Harold(Vera) Cooner of Bamberg , his brother Mayor Tim Cooner of Branchville and beloved aunts, especially his Aunt Shelby Jean Metts.
Hal was a graduate of Branchville High School and Orangeburg Beauty School. Hal owned and operated Halz Salon for over 30 years in which he made friendships that he cherished. Hal was a talented pianist and organist. Many can’t think of Hal without the thought of a delicious cake. Hal was happiest cooking in his kitchen or on the phone with friends for hours.
Family will accept friends at the home of Mr. Joe Hester, 1391 Edwards Street, Branchville. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Ott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Monday, March 18,2024 at Ott Cemetery in Branchville at 11:00. Funeral will be at 12:00.

Shellie “Vernon'' Summers, 95 of Branchville, SC passed away at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro, SC on February 28, 2024. Mr. Vernon was born on August 29, 1928, and was the son of the late Shellie D. and Elizabeth Fairey Summers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia K. Summers.
He worked at Savannah River Site for 35 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He dearly loved his family, and he loved being around others laughing and talking. Mr. Vernon was a member of the Branchville Christian Church.
He is survived by his children, Brooks Summers (Mary) of Summerville, David Summers (Kay) of Branchville, and Joye Gibson (Dale) of Laurinburg, NC; six grandchildren, Stewart Summers (Heather), Taylor Summers (Jennifer), Mary Helen Gesling (Brent), Heather Williams (Phillip), Brittany Gibson and Dalton Gibson; and nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Hall, Ruby Hefner, and Darlene Buck; three brothers, James Allen McAlhany, Sheckie Summers, and Terry Summers. He is predeceased by one brother, Cleo Summers and two sisters, Maudelle Dukes Miller and Christine Bickley.
Family will receive loved ones at “The Barn,” 415 Banbury Drive, Branchville, SC, Friday, March 1, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Obituary Preview: Molly Ruth McAlhany Holman, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 6 at her residence. She was born in Branchville, a daughter of Joe W. and Vickie W. McAlhany. For the past 30 years, she enjoyed spending time with her “Shop” family at Holman’s Small Engine Repair where many affectionately called her “Mama.” Before serving the community there, she worked at Mayer Industries, Inc. and Liberty Life Insurance.
Molly will be remembered for her sharp wit, straightforward speech, winning smile, endearing laugh and strong work ethic. She appreciated a good joke and a good book andremained a big fan of westerns. In addition to her deep love for family and friends, she embraced a long life with her dogs, cats and birds.
Mrs. Holman, the widow of William M. Holman, Sr., is survived by three children, Marlene (Val) Tyras-Krupin, BonnieH. Whitehurst, and William “Billy” (Donna) Holman; three grandchildren, Michele Troutman, Asheigh and Dalton Holman; two great grandchildren, Lauren Troutman and Jeremy Bufkin. She is also survived by siblings, Richard (Margaret) McAlhany, Beverly Berry, Nancy (David) Harbeson, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne (J.O.) McAlhany, many nieces and nephews and extended chosen family. She touched many hearts and will be missed by all.
Memorial services will be at Ott Funeral Home on Friday, February 16 at 1 PM with Bro. Charlie Snipes of Bethel Baptist Church (Cope) officiating. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Johnnie B. Axson. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 25, 2023.
She was the wife of Danny Axson of Bamberg, SC. They shared 48 years together.
She was the daughter of John and Billie Ann Bigham. She was employed with the SC Forestry Commission for 28 years. Since retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Danny, her children Jess (Angela) Axson of Bamberg and Dannette (Brian) Reed of Bamberg, her grandchildren John Robert Axson, Ava, Hollie, Waylon River and Elle Reed and her sister Anne Dempsey, of Illinois. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and two special boys Lawrence and Clifton.
She attended Edisto Baptist Church in Branchville SC. She enjoyed attending gospel singing events with her fellow church ladies and helping with cooking for any church events. Her love of cooking and spending time with her loved ones will be missed by all that knew her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11 am at Edisto Baptist Church, Branchville SC.

Isabelle was close with her 3 sisters and looked forward to their “Sister Saturdays”, during which they would have lunch and watch a movie together.
Isabelle enjoyed 44 years of marriage with the love of her life, Francis Mitchell Ott, Jr. They had three sons and spent lots of time together on various businesses such as building and running a radio station, a retail website, among other ventures and still found time to travel and have fun. She was a great cook and took great pleasure in preparing delicious meals for the ones she loved.
Isabelle is survived by three sons: Francis (Kara) Ott III of Branchville SC, Daniel (Lauren) Ott of Rowesville SC, and Paul (Taylor) Ott of Branchville SC; 9 grandchildren; siblings: Noble (Dona) Scoville of Tequesta FL, Mary Katharyn Oliver of Orangeburg SC, Willie Hayden of Cope SC, and Owen (James) Bridgeman of Neeses SC. Isabelle was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Isabelle's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family. As we gather to celebrate her life and bid her farewell, let us remember the warmth of her smile, the kindness in her heart, and the love that she shared unconditionally.

Carlyle (Sandy) L Blackmon III, husband of Meri Fletcher Blackmon, peacefully entered into eternal rest at home on December 20, 2023, at the age of 76. He is survived by his devoted wife, Meri, step-daughter Ann McIntosh-Hill and her children Mary Kathryn (Katy) Hill and Tanner Reed Craps. Extended family members include Karen Folk Herndon (Larry) and their children Henry (Hank) Herndon (Aleska), Corey Herndon (Morgan), Sarah Herndon Terry (Josh) and several other cousins.
Sandy, the only son of Carlyle L. Blackmon, Jr. and Ruth G. Blackmon, was born at the Charleston Naval Hospital on February 27, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a graduate of St. Andrew’s High School in 1967 and attended the Citadel. He later followed in his father’s footsteps by serving as a Lieutenant in the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. Professionally, he was a salesman for Blanchard Machinery and Peterbilt.
In his later years, he and his wife Meri enjoyed their shared passion for travel taking over 100 cruises to destinations all over the world. He had a larger than life personality and, until the very end, was full of tall tales detailing the many travel adventures he and his wife had taken.
In recent years he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and, until the last few weeks, continued to go and do as much as he could taking his last cruise with his wife and extended family over Thanksgiving.
Sandy will be missed by all who knew him and his memory will live on through his family and friends.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph Peagler and Janie Peagler.Emma is predeceased by her Husband Tommy Jackson and her son David Jackson, A grandson Ryan Risher.
Surviving are 2 daughters. Frances Crocker (Tim) of Branchville. Carolyn Jackson of Orangeburg. 2 sons Thomas (Bubba) Jackson of St. George. James Jackson (Mary) of Santee.
She had 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Alice was born on December 4th, 1930 to the late Augustus and Cynthia Dunn of Cope, SC. She was the plant manager at Kirsch for many years before retiring. She was also a member of Branchville Baptist Church and especially loved her Sunday School class. She enjoyed cooking for her family, taking fishing trips with her husband at Lake Marion and the Edisto River, and spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Alice is predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thomas Lafayette Winfield, and their son David Thomas Winfield. Surviving is her daughter April Walters (Jakie) of St. George, SC; grandchildren Cory Jarrett (Catalina) of Johns Island, SC; Adam Jarrett (Erin) of Mount Pleasant, SC; Rachel Chapiesky (Caleb) of Saint George, SC. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. She loved going to church, spending time with family and going shopping. If anyone knew her, you know she had a set of lungs on her and she could sing loudly, proudly and beautifully. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.

Nora was a member of Branchville United Methodist Church. She was a skilled seamstress. She loved to crochet and give her items away. She loved her flowers, reading, and working Sudoku puzzles.
She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Austin of Bowman, Susan Z. Foster of Spartanburg; her two sons, Heyward Zeigler and David (Susan) Zeigler, both of Branchville; ten grandchildren, Jason Austin, Erin Fogle, Will Foster, Jessica Potts, Megan Hughes, Chris Zeigler, Heyward Lawrence Zeigler, William Zeigler, Summer Hudson, and Ron Garrett; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Metts of Monks Corner and a sister, Amanda (Ray) Drawdy of Branchville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Rufus Metts, Jr. and Floyd Metts.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Branchville United Methodist Church, with Wayne Mobley officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Zeigler, Heyward Lawrence Zeigler, William Zeigler, Brett Banks, Frankie Metts, Shay Byrd, David Long and Brad Drawdy. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Ott’s Cemetery at a later date.

Her grandchildren: Brooke Norris Lee, Victoria Norris, Nicholas Leatherwood, Meghan Norris, Wesley Leatherwood, and Christopher Leatherwood. She is survived by two great grandchildren: Eli Calhoun Lee and Samuel Brandon Lee. Ina is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Ina spent all of her years taking care of and loving her family, friends, and those she encountered along the way. Ina enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing bingo, and thrift shopping. She also greatly enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and smocking gifts to share with others. Ina was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard E. Norris, of 56 years. Along with her parents, she was also preceded by her brother Larry Ott(Jeanette). Ina’s strength and love for life pushed her to fight all the way until the end. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all. Danny is predeceased by his sister Joyce Sinkler and twin brother Ronnie Weeks.

Barbara Carolyn Nobles, a devoted, caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend joined our Heavenly Father surrounded by her family on September 09, 2023, at the age of 93. Nana, was known for her quick wit, her famous fried chicken, her unwavering love for God and her family. She was an active member of Buckhead Advent Christian Church, where she served the Lord as a former Sunday School teacher, church secretary, church treasurer and Deaconess.She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and past President of WHF&M.
Nana was a seamstress at Smoaks Manufacturing/Carolina Visuals, where she was employed for over 63 years. She was affectionately called “Granny” by her co-workers and was known for her dedication and hard work. She loved to fish, read, cook,word searches, driving her John Deere tractor, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Carole Jean (Jimmy) Scroggins of Cartersville, Ga., Brenda Brunson of Simpsonville, S.C., grandchildren, April (Jay) Parler of Elloree, S.C., Chris (Tammy) Brunson of Branchville, S.C., Jason (Sarah) Scroggins of Atlanta, Ga., and Stephen (Stephanie) Scroggins of Colorado Springs, C.O., great-grandchildren, Chandler Kilgus, Harrison Kilgus, Brice Brunson, Gracin Parler, Cael Parler, Jack Scroggins, Layla Scroggins, Sam Scroggins and Eli Scroggins and a number of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.She is predeceased by her late husband, Reverend Freeman Nobles.
A celebration of her life will be held at Buckhead Advent Christian Church, Smoaks, S.C. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Ott’s Funeral Home in Branchville, S.C. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made in her honor to Buckhead Advent Christian Church.

A memorial service will be held Saturday September 9, 2023 at Bethel UMC with Rev. Kenneth Nelson officiating at 1:00 P.M, the family will receive friends after the services.
He is survived by one son Andrew David “Dave” Dantzler II and wife Kim, three grand children, Ashley Hildebrand, Taylor Poole “Alexuis”, and Abigail Poole, two great granddaughters Ellie, And Briella, two brothers, Johnny “Dot” Dantzler, and Danny “Ruth” Dantzler, one sister-law Maggie lee, his best friend Gwendolyn Looper, whom the family would like to give a special thanks for helping him in the last few days of his life, and a number of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Hodges Jr and wife Debbie of Goose Creek, SC, and Perry J. Hodges and wife Crystal of Smoaks, SC. Billy was also a loving grandfather to his six grandsons: Matthew Haner, Perry J Hodges Jr, Austin Hodges, Daniel Hodges, Zachary Hodges, and Ethan Hodges.
Charles, also known as "Billy", to everyone, was born on June 20, 1945, in Colleton, SC. He was a graduate of Bells High School and served in the US Navy. After his military service, he pursued a career as a Machinist in Rowesville, SC.
In his free time, Billy enjoyed watching Gamecock football. He was an avid fan and cherished the time spent cheering on his favorite team. Billy's dedication to his family and his passion for football were evident in the joy he found in watching the games.
Billy was a member of the United Methodist Trinity Church of Smoaks, SC. He found solace and community in his faith and the fellowship of his fellow church members.
A graveside service will be held at Tabernacle in Smoaks, SC, at 1:30 pm, with Reverend Kenny Nichols officiating. In honor of Billy's life, his grandsons will serve as pallbearers, escorting him to his final resting place.
Billy is survived by his sisters, Irene Broderick of Smoaks, SC, and Ann Carter of Williams, SC, as well as his brother Si Hodges from Beaufort, SC. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Jimmy Carter.

Travis was born in Orangeburg on November 10, 1968, the oldest son of the late Peter R Stokes III and the late Wendy Weathers Jeffcoat. Travis was a graduate of Branchville High School, Cope Area Vocational Center, and the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Travis served with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office for over ten years as a deputy sheriff, and was an accomplished welder. He was the owner of Travis Logging LLC which he had operated for over twenty years. He was a board member of Rose Hill Hunting Club, Orangeburg Elks Lodge, SC Forestry Association, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Travis was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed his life hunting, fishing on the Edisto river, deep sea fishing out of Edisto Island, and cooking for family and friends. As a young man, Travis loved life on the Weathers family
farm, often reminiscing fondly of the times with his Uncle Howard.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward M. and Etta Maye Weathers who raised him and his brother. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Alice Stokes Hightower and his step-grandfather Wilbur Hightower, and his paternal grandfather Peter R. Stokes Jr.
Travis is survived by his daughter, Callie Stokes Pope (Dustin) of Bowman, his grandson, Dylan Wayne Pope of Bowman, brother, E. Matt Stokes (Tiffany) of Providence Community, and niece Kayla D. Stokes of Orangeburg. He is also survived by his aunt Anita Stokes Nivens (Kirk) of Ellabell, Ga., two great aunts Sue W. Shuler of Magnolias of Santee, Lucy T. Mobley of The Oaks of Orangeburg, numerous cousins, and many friends in Branchville, Bowman, and Edisto Island. He is also survived by his special friend Ashley Peters and her son Brinson, who was his trusted hunting and fishing friend.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 04, 2023 at the Bowman Southern Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Thigpen, officiating and Rev. Anthony Curcio and Rev. Patrick Goodwin providing spiritual messages. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Her children: Becki (Tommy) Paschal, Hal (Jennifer) Bray, Missy (Dan) Magers, Lewis (Heather) Bolin, Renee (Robert) Gosnell. She had 38 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose Maree was born on August 31, 1931, a daughter ofthe late Mr. David William and Mrs. Mopsie Weathers Easterlin. She was the valedictorian of her class at Branchville High School and attended business school in Charleston. She was the widow of Raymond Avney “Abbie” Bunton, Sr. to whom she was married for 48 years.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20,2023, at Bowman Southern Methodist Church, Bowman, SC, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Thigpen officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be William Metts, David Metts, Philip Kemmerlin, Robert Crates, Bill Metts, and Lucas Antley. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Bunton was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved being with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Rose loved her Saviour, and she and Abbie raised their family in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Rose was a lifelong member of the community and was a charter member of Bowman Southern Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities including greeter, memorial fund manager, Sunday School teacher, and nursery worker. She was blessed to be a member of the Gladys Weathers Missionary Society. Mrs. Bunton was retired from the South Carolina Forestry Commission. She enjoyed working in her yard and cheering for those Clemson Tigers.
Rose is survived by her four children: Jill (George) Kemmerlin, Jan (Bobby) Crates, Ray (Robin) Bunton, and Bonnie (Randy) Antley. Her grandchildren are Philip Kemmerlin, Abby Green, Annabel Bunton, Robert Crates, Evan (Erin) Antley, Adam (Lindsey) Antley, Lucas Antley, and Caroline Antley. Her great-grands are Lily and Hailey Kemmerlin, and Brayden Grayce, Easton and Graham Antley. She is also survived by her dear aunt, Sue Weathers Shuler.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bunton is predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Dannie Wiles and Billie Kae and Alton Metts.
