Obituary Preview: Mr. Jessie Moore, age 25, of Hull, passed away on May 13, 2024, at his home.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 25, at 1:00pm, at the Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow the service at the church.
Jessie James was born on August 25, 1998, in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of Lonnie Dean and Dulcie Dawn (Marshall) Moore. He was raised in Norfolk, where he attended school. His family moved often, just letting life take them where they were happy and free. Jessie loved life and driving his Chevy truck to get away from his often harsh reality.
In April of 2018, while living in Fort Worth, Texas, he was diagnosed with stage five kidney failure. He fought hard every day to maintain a balance between life and health. His best friend, Beau, an ESA German Shepherd, was close by when he lost this fight.
Jessie lived with his parents, who helped care for him. The family relocated to Iowa in 2021 to be closer to Jessie’s older sister, Kelsey. The move also brought them closer to Jessie’s older brother, Dalton, and his many, many friends in Nebraska, whom he considered family and stayed close with.
He loved kids and wanted desperately to have his own family someday. He was a proud uncle who loved his nieces and was honored to meet and hold his nephew who was named after him.
Jessie is survived by his parents, Lonnie and Dulcie Moore, of Hull; three siblings, Kelsey Marie, and her husband, Zachary John Amen, of Sibley, and their four daughters, Zaylee Kay, Kallison Dawn Marie, Kiara Louise, and Zalaya Rose; Dalton Dean Moore, of Albion, Nebraska; and Tiffany Mae Moore, and her fiancé, Tristin Kash Lewis, both of Fort Worth, Texas, and their children, Taylor Leigh, and Walter James Kash; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Kathleen Marshall, of Fort Worth; and his paternal grandparents, Earleen Potmesil, of Newman Grove, Nebraska, and Dean Follette, of Kearny, Nebraska.

Perry L. Raman - June 29, 1955 - January 13, 2024

Departed: 01/13/2024 (Hull)
Obituary Preview: Perry Lee Raman, age 68, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his devoted wife and children, after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer.
A visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, January 19, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, January 20, at 10:00am, at the church with the Rev. Mark Cercone, the Rev. Bethany Reeves, and the Rev. Corbett Reeves officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. The Oolman Funeral Home in Hull is in charge of arrangements.
Born June 29, 1955, in Sioux Center to Elmer and Phyllis (Koele) Raman, Perry was a life-long resident of Hull.
Perry was a man who could fix nearly anything—tinkering, he called it—which he learned early on from time spent in the shop with his Grandpa Raman. He graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, and then completed a heavy machinery degree from Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon. In 1975, Perry married his high school sweetheart, Kathi Goldhorn. Their daughter, Stacy, was born the following year. Kathi tragically passed away in 1978, and Perry embraced the role of devoted daddy to 22-month-old Stacy. In 1979, Perry began courting Audrey (Smit) Van Voorst. Not only did he court Audrey, but her two beautiful children, Anita and Aric; in fact, their very first date was at a pizzeria with all three kids in tow. Knowing a good thing when he found it, Perry proposed in June, and he and Audrey were married in September, with Perry gladly taking on the role of father to three. In his faithfulness, God quickly grew the three to five, as they were joined by Nathan in 1980, and Bethany in 1982. (It didn’t stop there, of course, as is evidenced by his twenty beloved grandchildren and one brand-new great-grandchild, with another one on the way.)
A hard-worker, Perry provided for his family through the years by working as a plumber, a trucker, and by building his own tree-moving company. He loved his church-family at American Reformed in Hull, where he served as a deacon, elder, and loved leading the 4th-6th grade singing group with the guitar. But some of his favorite times in life were family vacations and other trips with family and friends. Whether exciting motorcycle or snowmobile trips or relaxing with the family at the little lake cabin he and Audrey built from a converted chicken coop, Perry lived out his commitment to building memories with the people he loved. And the fishing trips… the famous and sometimes infamous fishing trips with his boys and eventually their boys. Fishing was near and dear to his heart.
So was music! From his early days singing and playing Simon and Garfunkel songs with his pal, TJ Klay, to traveling and performing Gospel music with Audrey and their children, Perry loved spreading the goodness of God through music and testimony. He had a knack for playing guitar and writing songs. Whether at church or on the road, Perry and Audrey used their God-given talents to share their story of God’s faithfulness.
Perry was known by his community as a generous and kind man with a genuine, fun-loving, and jolly nature. He set an example of putting his trust and faith in Jesus in both good times and bad.
He will be deeply missed, first and foremost by his wife of 44 years, Audrey; and also by his five children and their spouses, Anita and Eldon Vanden Brink, of Hull; Aric and Rachel Van Voorst, and Stacy and Eric Ribbens, all of Orange City; Nathan and Lora Raman, of Rock Rapids; and Bethany and Corbett Reeves, of Norwalk.
Not only a devoted father, Perry adored his grandchildren, Austin Vanden Brink, Abbey (Reed) Solberg, Annie (Isaac) Vietor, Allie Vanden Brink, Madeline (Hatem) Khalfaoui, Andrew (Alina) Van Voorst, Grace Van Voorst, Melaku Van Voorst, Askala Van Voorst, Addison Klocke, Asher Klocke, Jenna (Clayton) Nelson, Sadie Ribbens, Owen Ribbens, Brody Raman, Lainey Raman, Brooke Kooiman and friend Sam Harmon, Jamison Kooiman, Katy (Trace) Zachery, and Will Reeves; as well as a great-granddaughter, Rayne Solberg.
Perry will also be mourned by his sister, Bonnie (Russ) Vander Schaaf; a brother, Wes (Marcia) Raman; and his in-laws, Arlen (LeeAnn) Smit, Ron (Adri) Smit, Joan (Randy) Williams, Carl Smit, Sandy Simbro, and Randy (Colleen) Goldhorn; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Justin Bousema; a brother-in-law, Roger Smit; and his parents-in-law, Arnold and Betty Smit and Wesley and Hope Goldhorn.
Memorials will be given to the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Program of Greater Siouxland.

She also worked at the Foreign Candy Company in Hull for fifteen years and built motors at Groschopp in Sioux Center. In her 'spare time' she cleaned offices at Sioux Automation in Sioux Center. Most recently she worked in the kitchen at Dordt University in Sioux Center, where she enjoyed being around students whom she treated as her honorary grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was the fall when she got to know the new students. Her family was very important to her, and she did her best to make it to as many of her children's and grandchildren's activities as she could. She also made a big effort to make special memories with her family including riding in a hot air balloon in Wyoming, white water rafting in Idaho, taking a family Disney cruise in 2007, and most recently, in the fall of 2022, traveling to Colorado to see her beloved mountains 'one last time.' Her grandchildren will be sure not to forget her humor and some crazy memories such as giving 'airplane' rides in her car, snipe hunting while camping, eating ice cream for breakfast, and her special Halloween cackle. She never missed a birthday and loved singing to all on their special day. She leaves behind lots of handwritten holiday cards and birthday notes to be cherished by all who received them.

Roberta “Bobby” Lee was born, along with her twin sister, on March 13, 1954, in Sheldon, to Stanley and Phyllis (Winkowitsch) Ontjes. Her early childhood was spent living in Bridgewater, South Dakota, until 1967, when she and her family moved to the Boyden area. She graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1972 and from Nettleton Business School in 1973. She married Tom Reuvers on June 5, 1974, and worked for a time at Koyker Manufacturing in Hull as a receptionist until the birth of their children in 1977 and 1978. She was baptized in 1976 at the Ashton Bible Church and has since been a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden. At various times in her life, she taught catechism, Bible school, and Bible study. She learned to sew at a very early age and spent many hours in front of the sewing machine making clothing, craft items, and numerous one-of-a-kind quilts. Donating blood every two months became a serious goal of hers, and she finished strong with a total of almost eighteen gallons given. Photography, reading, Charles Wysocki jigsaw puzzles, and visits to the Sheldon sale barn were other interests that occupied her free time; however, all would be put aside if it meant a visit to or from her kids and/or grandkids.
The very special people left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom Reuvers, of Boyden; a son and his wife, Lee and Darla Reuvers, of Sheldon; a daughter and her husband, Dyan and Ryan Vander Sluis, of Le Mars; eight grandchildren, Ashley, and her husband, Graden Nordahl; Bailey, and her husband, Ryan Francis; Gracie, and her husband, Tyler Lode; Maliyah Reuvers; Kennedy Reuvers; Brandon Vander Sluis; Seth Vander Sluis; and Mya Vander Sluis; one great-granddaughter, Harlee Nordahl, and two more grandchildren on the way; her twin sister, Rebecca “Becky”, and her husband, Rich Click; and her sister, Gayle, and her husband, Lyle Moret, all from the Denver, Colorado area; her mother-in-law, Helen Reuvers, of Boyden; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Jerry and Mary Beth Reuvers, of Orange City; and Dennis and Tracie Reuvers, of Rock Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Marcia, and her husband, John Neely, of Moville; and Melody Reuvers, of Boyden; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hosanna Vander Sluis; her father-in-law, Henry Junior Reuvers; and a brother-in-law, Douglas Reuvers.
