Barbara was born in Martinsville, Virginia to the late John Melvin Hundley and Martha Jane Hundley. After graduating high school, she went on to study design and became a very talented interior designer. She met and married the love of her life, Norman Richard Reed, while still living in Martinsville, Virginia. They were married for 52 years before Norman passed away in 2003.
In the early years of their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Reed moved to Norfolk, Virginia and had two children, Mark David Reed and Kelli Jane Reed Craig.
