He was also  Senior Class Secretary, Member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Captain of the basketball Team.  He then went on and earned his Law Degree at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. Mr. Matuga was a longtime Attorney with offices in East Chicago, Griffith and Highland and also served as a Lake County Probate Commissioner with over 30 years of service. When he wasn't working he enjoyed being with family and friends on vacations and attending many sporting events, especially Notre Dame Football games. Carlos was born and raised in East Chicago. He was a Manager of Sam's Club in Merrillville, Indiana with over 15 years of service. Carlos and his family were longtime members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Indiana Harbor. When one of Carlos' parent's took ill, he resigned his position with Sam's Club and became his parents full time caregiver. He loved his family very much and was always a devoted son, brother and uncle. If you knew Carlos, you knew he was your friend. He will be missed but never forgotten.

"Baby Lou", was a lifelong resident of East Chicago, Indiana and member of St Mary Church, Griffith, Indiana. He was  a retired employee of Inland/Mittal Steel Company with 47 years of service and Member of the USWA Local 1010. He was also a former employee of the East Chicago Water Department and longtime Board Member of the East Chicago Sanitation Board. "Baby Lou" was always active in East Chicago and helped many of his friends and neighbors while  serving as  longtime democratic precinct committeeman in the 4th district. He was also a longtime Coach and President of the Indiana Harbor Little League. He always had a smile on his face and loved helping people throughout the community. When through one man a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth come into the world-then that man's life has had meaning. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

For many years, Delphine and Wally owned the Midwest Grocery Store located on the 3800 block of Pulaski Street in Indiana Harbor. They served the best lunch meats and candy in town. The store was renamed by all the children in the neighborhood and was just called " Wally's" (Candy Store). Delphine, known as Mrs. Wally by all the children in the neighborhood enjoyed visiting with all of her customers, especially the children. She was a longtime resident of East Chicago and was a longtime active  member of the former St John Cantius Church. She was a member of the White Eagle Club and the Polish National Alliance and many other civic and charitable organizations. Her home and heart were always open to all of her family and friends. She was a kind and generous person who always smiled and loved to laugh. She will be dearly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Ophie, as she was called by many family and friends was proud of her family and being a Mom taking care of her home and family. Always with a smile and always happy to be with friends and family. She was a longtime employee of the South Shore Country Club and the former Puntillo's Restaurant in East Chicago. Ophelia will be missed mostly for the smiles and happiness she brought onto others, her hard work  and her willingness to help others. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
