Barnhart. “Otie” is survived by his Wife and high school sweetheart, Karen, of 55 years. He is also survived by his son Jimmy Garris (wife Heather) of Weston, WV, daughter Kelly Gladwell (husband Mark) of Lookout, WV, and brother Gary Garris of Palm Springs, CA. He is also survived by the Lights of his life, Granddaughters, Jenna, Haley, Katie, Sheria, and Taylon; Grandsons, Steven, Jeremy, Brett, Jake, Jared, Jaden, Matthew, Nick and Tyler; Great Grandbabies, Brendyn, Killian, Benson, Calvin, Parker and 2 on the way! Otie attended Oakland Church of God in Smithers and was the leader of the “AMEN” section! He served 4 years in the US Air Force and was a retired coal miner. He was a faithful Christian, husband, father, brother, and
grandfather and was a true blessing and testimony to anyone who met him. His family will forever be thankful to all those who constantly prayed for his healing as he now has his new body! They would also like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Summersville Regional Medical Center (especially his nurse, Annie Bailey and his Respiratory Therapist, Ash Tinsley aka “Ninja”) and Bowers Hospice
House for their loving care in his final days. A very special thanks to his PCP, Dr. Shawn Strickland for not only being his

Obituary Preview: Scott Craig Farley, 60, of Salem formerly of Pratt, WV passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was born on June 1, 1963 in Akron, OH, the son of Albert E and Nancy Brewer Farley of Pennsboro.
Scott is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Sue Jackson Farley.
Scott graduated from Lewis County High School Class of 1981. He also attended Ohio Valley College, WV Tech and Bear Valley Bible Institute. Scott was a coal miner for 10 years, working at Patriot Coal and Massey Energy Company as a Fire Boss. He was a Christian by Faith and a Minister of God’s Word. He preached the word of God at several churches: Boomer Church of Christ, Seth Church of Christ, Madison Church of Christ, Stewart Park Church of Christ in Cross Lanes, and most recently preaching at Salem Church of Christ. He also preached at several gospel meetings, was the co-editor of Mountain Messenger (Added to the Church Christian Publication) with DJ Curry, and found joy in helping with the Surprise Valley Camp in Beckley. He also supported the Potter’s Children’s Home and Family Ministries. Aside from ministry, Scott loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Scott is survived by his daughter, Andrea of Charleston; two grandchildren, Destiny and Anthony; one great granddaughter, Dream; three siblings, Clista (Dennis) Heintzman of Pennsboro, Rebecca (Scott) Ragle of Ackerly, TX, and Elisabeth (Jason) Taylor of Martinsburg; several beloved nieces and nephews.
Scott is preceded in passing by his son, J. Scott Dressler.
Family and friends will meet at Davis Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 4:00PM until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 6:00PM with Rick Tincher and Dan Kessinger officiating.

Obituary Preview: Ray A. Goforth, 95, of Charleston, WV, passed away Sunday, April 28 surrounded by his loving wife of 68 years, his children, and grandchildren. Born in Fitzpatrick, WV on June 23, 1928, he was the son of the late James Kelly and Franchion Goforth. Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye Kuchta and Lisa Cunningham, his brothers, Wayne, Avery, Arthur, Allen, Ralph, Albert and Robert. Ray is survived by his wife, Betty, daughters Teresa Petry and Tina Tallarico, son-in-law Tony Tallarico, grandchildren, Ethan Petry, Justin Ray Tallarico (Bernice), Emily Edwards (Bret), Dominic Tallarico (Haley), and his Great Grandchildren who brought him the most joy in this chapter of his life, Ameila Edwards, Charlotte Edwards, Elizabeth Edwards, Sophia Tallarico, Madeline Tallarico, Gabriella Tallarico, Anthony Tallarico, and Eleanor Tallarico. He is also survived by sister, Barbara Smith of Pennsylvania, lifelong friend and brother-in-law Robert Pittman, business partner and friend Chuck Smith and scores of nieces and nephews.
A happy and compassionate man of deep faith and humility, Ray, being the 2nd born of eleven children, learned early on the importance of hard work and family. He assisted in raising many of his siblings at an early age while attending school and working. A veteran, in the US Army, he served in the Korean War. Faith and family were of the utmost importance to him and aiding in any community activities. He was active in many organizations in Fayette County, where he raised his daughters, such as Lions Club, Civitan Club, Chairman of the Democratic Executive Committee in Fayette County and Deacon at Gauley Bridge Baptist Church. He, along with his wife, built a thriving Insurance Agency in Montgomery, Goforth Insurance Agency, until their retirement. They were a team in all aspects of their life, setting examples of raising their family to be capable hard-working citizens of faith. Ray and Betty moved from Charlton Heights to Charleston in 2013 to be close to family, where they quickly made friends and found a church they loved.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held, at 1 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Kanawha City Baptist Church with Pastor Don Toler officiating.

Obituary Preview: David Cecil Thompson, 83, of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away on April 28, 2024. He was predeceased by his father Cecil Thompson, his mother Adrienne Thompson and his sister Nancy Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda, his son Matthew Thompson [former spouse Andrea], stepson Steven Martin [Jennifer] and grandchildren Tyler Martin, Zara Thompson, Zami Thompson, Olivia Martin and Mia Martin. He is also survived by his former spouse, Nancy McCall Thompson [Robert]. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
David graduated from West Virginia Tech and received a master’s degree in Political Science from Marshall University. During his college years, he was active in the theater program and summer outdoor drama. When he graduated, he had a career in the Federal Civil Service. He was a manager in the field of Federal personnel management, specializing in job classification and employee compensation, in organizations including D.C. government, the Office of Personnel Management, the General Accounting Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
David was also active in special education for the deaf and led a Fairfax Virginia county-wide organization of parents of the deaf and served on the county special education advisory board. Later he was actively involved in the parent-teachers association at Maryland School for the Deaf . He also loved to spend time videotaping his son Matt’s football games during his highschool and college years and taping his sons’ and grandchildrens’ activities. After he had grandchildren, he was known as “Pop Pop,” “Grandfather Thompson” and “Grandfather With the White Mustache”. Internment will be at the Montgomery Memorial Park at London, West Virginia on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM. What Shawn loved to do was spending time with his family, fishing, the ocean, and building things. He was deeply loved by anyone who knew him.

Nancy was born December 30, 1935, to the late Alonzo and Launa Keglor.
She was married to Herman Richard Dillow, who proceeded her in death on December 31, 1968. She is survived by her husband Arnold “Gene” Anderson, with whom she celebrated 36 years of marriage.
She is also survived by daughter Kelley Dillow Young (Randy) of Sugarlands, WV; stepson Jeff Anderson (Monica) of Pax Branch, WV; two granddaughters, Ashley Young of Polson, MT and Kayla Anderson Trofy (Travis) of Fayetteville, WV; one grandson, Adam Young (Nichole) of Houston, TX; two great-granddaughters, Amada Joy Young and Izzy Jolee Trofy. Other special people in her life include Valerie Vaughn, Paula Keglor Frenkil, Paul Keglor, Jim Keglor, Nannette Wendell, Diane Custer, and several nieces and nephews plus many persons from her extended Anderson, Vaughn, and Trofy families.
She was preceded in death by her brothers CD Keglor, Bob Keglor, Jick Keglor, and Duck Keglor.
Nancy worked at Montgomery General Hospital as an LPN until her retirement. She then worked at the Cracker Barrel in Kanawha City.
Nancy truly enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching the hummingbirds. She also enjoyed camping at Stonewall Jackson Lake and shopping. She was known for her candy making, crafting, and love of Christmas decorations. She never met a snowman decoration she did not love. Nancy’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy lived a vibrant and full life and will be dearly missed.

Obituary Preview: Bobby Lee Bess (BB), age 70, went to be with the lord on March 28, 2024, peacefully, while surrounded by loved ones. Bobby was born May 28, 1953. He grew up in Smithers, WV. He worked for a time as a foreman in the mines, but eventually went on to become a successful business owner. He was the owner and operator of BB’s “The Place to Be” in Smithers and later “Benny’s Bar & Grill” in Montgomery.
Bobby was the embodiment of passion, determination, and adventure. As a local business owner, he poured his heart and soul into building a successful enterprise that touched the lives of many. He had many friends and people he loved and who loved him. He loved to travel and spend time with friends and family. Sports held a special place in Bobby's life, and he could often be found cheering passionately for his favorite teams or hitting the golf course with friends.
Bobby will be fondly remembered for his generosity and zest for life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Bobby is proceeded in death by his parents Carl “Sonny” and Virginia Bess; his daughter Carla Bess; and his wife Evelyn Bess.
Bobby is survived by his daughters Crista Bess and spouse Ron Cravens; and Bobbie Bess and spouse Philip Evans; grandson Jaden Bess (who was like a son to him) and his partner Brook Jett; his sister and brother-in-law Tom and Linda Lilly; as well as grandchildren Ivy, Alyssa, Alexis, Madison and Oaklynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all cherish his memory and carry on his spirit of adventure and resilience. for 62 years and has reunited with him and will be forever happy in heaven. Juanita is survived by her two daughters Cheryl Slack (David) and Debra Vaughan. Sisters Jean Keesee (Bill Keesee deceased), Linda Green (Clyde) and brothers Larry Adkins (Jeanette) and Emmitt “Butch” Adkins (Candy). Brother Ronnie Adkins (Bonnie) preceded Juanita in death. She loved her many nieces
and nephews and recognized each one and what made them special. Also thank you to Shila Petry, Rose Moles and Patty Crist who made our Mom feel special and provided

In addition to his parents Fran was preceded in death by brother, Gildo Pollastrini, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Rebecca Pollastrini; son, Jodie Pollastrini; grandsons, Jordan and Jacob Pollastrini; granddaughter, Ava Arthur; brothers, Allen, Tony, and Larry “Minner” Pollastrini; sisters, Vivian McGinnis and Suzanne Whittington as well as many nieces, nephews and long time friends, and his beloved fur baby “Buddy.”
Service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, WV with Rev. Greg Petry officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV.
Visitation will be Monday March 25, 2024 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Douglas loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He would help anyone he could and would give you the shirt he was wearing if you needed it. Douglas was also listed as an organ donor but was unable to fulfill that request. He was still listed as a Donor in Spirit and considered a hero by CORE.
He is survived by his father Doug Williams, of Belva, WV; maternal grandmother, Patty Jarrell of Little Creek, WV Paternal Gandfather Shelby Foster of Eskdale; his brothers and sisters – Robbie Williams of Belva, WV; Amber Bittner of Weston, WV; Kristi Parson of Hartford, City, IN and James Wheeler of Oak Hill, WV; 13 nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles.
Douglas was loved by so many and will be missed tremendously.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1pm at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV. The family will receive visitors beginning one hour prior to the service. Pastor Charlie Bolen will preside over the service and burial will be in Massey Cemetery, Winifrede, WV.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth Jane and Harper C Evans of Fayetteville, WV and brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Liz Pinion of Kingsland, Georgia. She is also survived by nieces Sheri Bush (Billy) and Brandie Lively (Brian), nephews Bryan (Terri) and Toby (Sarah), great nieces Abby Evans and Olivia Lively, great Nephew Bryar Evans and great, great niece Westlyn Evans and Aunt Carol Hannah. She was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School and West Virginia Tech. She spent her career as a teacher’s aide in several Fayette County schools including Boomer Grade School, Fallsview, Ansted Elementary and Oak Hill Elementary, she loved helping kids learn to read! She served on the Fayette County Board of Education for several terms and was a champion of trying to stop school closures in the Valley District. Lou could often be found on the golf course, playing with the Ladies Golf Association at Hawks Nest Country Club. She was part of the Gauley Bridge High School Reunion Committee and had great joy in planning class reunions for the Class of 1964. Lou always doted on her nieces and nephews. ”Auntie” was always around to take us for rides in her beloved Corvettes. She loved to spoil us by taking us shopping, out to eat and other adventures. Myrtle Beach trips were one of her favorite vacations. Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 3:30 PM at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. She is survived by her husband Billy Burton; children, Teresa Alderson (Mike), Susie Gardiner (Danny), Billy Burton (Darlena), and Shawn Burton; siblings, Phyllis Kinder, Martha (Mae) Keyser, Ruth Ann Reedy, and Jerry Selbe; and also, special family member Missy Burton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary Selbe; and siblings, Wanda (Sis) Workman, Robert Selbe, Eddie Selbe, and Wayne Selbe.
She has 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Above all else, family was everything to her. Her love and selfless heart for her family and friends is what she will be remembered for the most.

He was the son of the late Luther and Bessie (Nottingham) Jarrett. Preceding him in death besides his parents are his brothers Jesse, Ernest and Tommy. Sisters Delcie and Debbie. Surviving brother Bob and sister Pearl.
Surviving is his wife Barbara of 61 years whom he loved dearly. Also surviving are one son Jeff (Kat) Jarrett, and two daughters Kim (Jimmy) Given and Staci (Keith) Payne all of Kimberly, WV. Eight grandchildren, Tyler (Taylor) Given, Keyshawn (Lauren) Payne, Luke and Jayde, Dylan, Drew and Landon Jarrett and Karli Drennen. Six great grandchildren, Ariana and Greenlee Given, Keylan and Cyrus Payne, Davina Jarrett and Indie Jarrett. Gene also had many nieces and nephews whom he loved along with many friends.
There will be a memorial service held at Glen Ferris Apostolic Church in Glen Ferris, WV on Saturday March 23rd 2024 at 1:00 pm.
