Frank W. Poland - June 19, 1937 - May 13, 2024

Departed: 05/13/2024 (Brick)
Obituary Preview: Frank Walter Poland (86) of Brick, NJ was born on June 19, 1937 in Neptune, New Jersey and passed away on May 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Frank proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1955-1959 and was a long standing member of the Teamsters Union Local # 469 based out of Hazlet. Later in life, he worked for Duncan Thecker Precast as a commercial truck driver. After retirement, Frank went back to work for many years at Monmouth Park Racetrack as the head track groomer. He was a dedicated member of the Free & Accepted Masons Lodge # 9849 in Neptune. Frank enjoyed being surrounded by people he loved that shared the same passions as him. The simplest pleasures in life brought Frank the greatest joy. He loved spending time with his family, sitting outside, and talking about what projects he and his son in laws were going to work on next. He enjoyed trips to Wall Stadium, the Manasquan Inlet and fishing with his grandchildren. You could always find Frank driving around town and “popping” in at his daughter’s houses just to say hi and grab a snack and a glass of iced tea. He could be quoted saying, “what a pleasant surprise this is” any time one of his girls walked into their home. Frank is survived by his wife Lucille Poland of 60 years; 3 daughters, Sharon Panek and her husband, Joseph of Brick, Tammy Covert and her husband, Terrence of Wall and Donna Bench and her husband Bryan of Yachats, OR. He also leaves behind beloved grandchildren, Jenna and her husband, Dean, Jessica, Kaylee, Megan and David. Frank is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Clara Poland; and by his brothers, Walter and Robert Poland. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Frank will be remembered as a talented, strong, and proud man who put his family above all else. His girls were his whole world. Frank never missed a sporting event for his children or grandchildren and could always be found greeting them on the sidelines with a piece of candy in hand. Frank enjoyed doing anything that involved being outside whether it was yard work, building something, or relaxing in the sunshine. Frank was truly a one of a kind person whose greatest joy in life was being a Dad and a Grandpa. Frank will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The sun will shine a little brighter each day knowing that he is in heaven watching over us. We love you!Visitation will be on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 10am-12pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick.  A prayer service will be conducted at 12pm in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.  Donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project CLICK HERE To send condolences directly to the family, please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to inform friends, family, and community members of a person's passing, allowing them to pay their respects and offer condolences. They also provide a sense of closure and help to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Who writes an obituary?

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's usually between 100-500 words. The goal is to provide a concise yet meaningful summary of the person's life.

Yes, many newspapers and online obituary platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a nice way to personalize the tribute and make it more engaging.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department or funeral home for guidance on submitting an obituary. They will provide instructions on formatting, word count, and deadlines.
