She was born in New York, NY, my mother lived most of her life in Brooklyn, NY, and the last 11 years in Newark NJ. She worked as a Principal Administrative Associate (PAA) for ACS of NYC. until she retired.
My mother loved to decorate for parties, office parties, baby showers, weddings, and especially holidays. She also enjoyed doing her hair, nails, reading her bible, traveling, dancing, having a good laugh while drinking some soda with friends and family. She was kind, warm, and loved by so many people. Everyone who knew my mother knew her for her Haagan das vanilla ice cream, coke cola soda floats.
Lucy Soriano was predeceased by her husband, Pablo Ivan Soriano. They were married for 48 years. Mother to Lucy Matos-Soriano and her husband Moses Matos, Grandmother of Luciana Matos, Sister to Juan Francisco Matos and Noemi Barnes and God mother to Evelyn Torres and Keisha James.
My mother only had one child but wanted more. Lucy had difficulty having more children so instead, God used Lucy to help other families and children, through her work. Those Lucy helped loved her as a mom and she was able to have the big family she wanted. My Mom was honored, proud and blessed to have other children, grandchildren and a great grandchild in her life. Listed below are some of the people she was a mother and grandmother too.
Mother to Marina Girald , Grandma of Eddie Gonzalez, Frankie Gonzalez, Anthony Gonzalez, Miracle Rivera and Jullian Apont, Great Great Grandma of Mei Gonzalez. Mother to Blanca Pena, Grandma of Alferdo Rodriguez, Quantasia Lopez, Zoila Pachay and George Pachay
Mother to Mario Pena and Grandma of Mario Junior Pena. Mother to Ivana Coakley and Grandma of Elizabeth Coakley and Michael Coakley
My mother was a compassionate, endearing, kind, protective, extraordinary, caring, and mindful person towards people and their feelings. Lastly, she was MY SUPERHERO. This last month she showed me she was a survivor and fighter to the end of her life.
I will miss my mother. She always prayed at our family functions and when she prayed for you, everything would be better. If you knew my mom, you would know that she had a heart of gold and that she loved God and God loved her. They have a special communication. She prays and puts it on his hand. I’ve seen the lord answer my mother’s prayers. I have witnessed the love he has for my mom and that’s why I strongly believe in him. He wouldn’t let my mother abandoned me and my family. GOD said your job here is done and he took his child home. I am going to end this off with one of her favorite poems. Footprints In The Sand One night a women had a dream. She dreamed she was walking Along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from Her life. For each scene, she noticed two sets of footprints in the
Sand; one Belonged to her, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of her life flashed before her, she looked back at The footprints in the sand. She noticed that many times along the Path of her life there was only one set of footprints. She also noticed
That it happened at the very lowest and saddest ties in her life.
This really bothered her and she questioned the LORD about it. “LORD, You said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with Me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most Troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I Don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.” The Lord replied,” My precious, precious child, I love you and Would never leave you. During your time of trial and suffering, When you see only set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

Why are obituaries important?
