Born in Colesville, NY on July 30, 1945, he was a son of the late Harold and Rose (Dunn) Page. In 1981 he was united in marriage to Diane G. Elliott. She passed away October 17, 2014.
Butch was a truck driver for Glo-Gas for thirty-four years before retiring. He loved to fish and went any time he could.
He is survived by his son, Michael Page (Rhonda); a sister, Roberta Eaton; step-children, Patty Dorfer (Dan), Jacqueline Roush (Michael), Michael DeRuby (Lisa), James DeRuby and Ron Hunt (Jody); grandchildren, Matthew Page, Kyle Page, Calli Tucker, Rachael DeRuby, Jared DeRuby, Samantha Roush, Travis DeRuby, Denver DeRuby, Adam Leslie, Katelynn Hunt, Derek Pietroski, Dan Dorfer and Andrea Lisher; companion, Connie Johnson, and her children, Laura Kinney (Mark), Thomas Johnson, Jr. (Wendy) and Roger Johnson (Patsy); and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Wanda Skellett; and three brothers, Norman, Robert and David; and step-daughter, Charlotte Leslie.

Thomas Serra, Jr. - December 14, 1934 - February 13, 2024

Obituary Preview: Thomas Serra, Jr., 89, of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Grand of Rome. He was born in Rome on December 14, 1934, a son of the late Thomas and Violet (Lovett) Serra, Sr. Tom was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 1952, and on January 10, 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served until being Honorably Discharged on December 19, 1957. On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Joan Ryder. She passed away April 19, 2006.
Tom worked for the NYS DOT for 30 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Floyd Fire Department since 1968 and served as the Fire Commissioner for the Town of Floyd since 2016.
Tom enjoyed camping on Lake Ontario and following NASCAR. Every morning for the last 42 years you could find Tom surrounded by his buddies having coffee at the diner, solving the world’s problems.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Serra (Kathy) and Tina Lennon (Matthew); three sons, Thomas E. Serra, David M. Serra (Teresa) and James J. Serra (Krista); a sister, Sonja Recco (Anthony); ten grandchildren, Jessica Torres (Ricky), Alexander Serra, Jordan Serra, Cody Lennon, Gabrielle Evans (Joshua), Chase Lennon, Trevor Serra, Bradley Serra, Jonathan Wallace and Steven Hawkins; seven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lillian, Carter, Sophie, Sadie, Olivia and Landon; his companion of 12 years, Jennie S. Kemp; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Ortensia Mallory; and two brothers, Lewis and Joseph Serra.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16th, at 6:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in Floyd Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 3-6:00 p.m.

Bev worked for several area restaurants including Candy Land, San Carlos and Liberty Lane for many years. She later worked at Nora’s Candy where she enjoyed making their famous Turkey Joints.
Bev loved to travel to various casinos and liked to play bingo.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Cheryl Robinson, Jr.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Robinson; three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Xara and Lily; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Lynne Robinson; six sisters, Jeannie Sherman, Shirley Sbaraglia, Marilyn Fort, Norma Harvey, Phyllis Devore and Betty Sherman; and four brothers, William, Vernon, Gordon and Jack Sherman.

William was raised in Bethpage, NY and later moved to raise a family of his own in Miller Place, NY. He moved to Hamilton, NY in 2015 to be close to family. He is predeceased by his parents, Elaine & Frederick Butzgy as well as his beloved wife Denise. William is survived by Nancy (sister) and Frank Romeo of Naples FL, Carol (sister) and Ed Staley of Naples FL, John (son) and Michelle Butzgy of Hubbardsville NY, Michael (son) and Jessica Butzgy of Avondale PA, in addition to his treasured grandchildren Henry, Charles, Ava and Arthur and his nieces and nephews.
If family and friends would like to contribute, donations can be made to the Abraham House in William’s name. The staff there are greatly appreciated for the care they gave him in his final weeks.

Don was a contractor for many years. He worked for Riggle’s Construction, MacIntosh Box and Pallett Co. and TDR Log Homes.
Don loved cars, especially working on them in his garage while listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis Pressley.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Kotary; a daughter, Donna Kotary; several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Gloria Wright (Wally Sr.) and Jeanette Myers; four great-nephews, Wally Wright, Jr., Ryan Wright, Ethan Myers and Dylan Myers; and a brother-in-law, Charles Brundage. He was predeceased by his father, Benjamin; and his sister, Terry Brundage.

Obituary Preview: Wiliam F. Tuttle, 84, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He was born in Rome on April 6, 1939. On May 12, 1962, he was united in marriage to Virginia Tonni, a blessed union of over 61 years.
Bill was a tractor trailer driver for 39 years, first for J.W. Wilhelmson in Rome and later for Cumberland Transport Co. of Syracuse before retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church and the Rome Moose Club.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Virginia, is a daughter, Kimberly Roe (Tim); two sons, William Tuttle, Jr. (Heidi) and Paul Tuttle (Patricia); seven grandchildren, Chris Roe (Tricia), Mary Terry (Travis), Joshua Roe (Jessica), McKenzie Alford (Michael), Elizabeth Tuttle, Dominick Tuttle and Paul Tuttle, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Tuttle and Charron Thomas; and three brothers, Donald, Richard and Robert Reed; and grandson, Ashton Roe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 7th at 9:00 a.m., at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome NY 13440. There are no calling hours.

Obituary Preview: Mamie L. Brown, 101, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Bethany Gardens. She was born in Brunswick, GA, on August 22, 1922, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Smith) McArthur. On June 4, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, GA, she was united in marriage to Hadley Brown, Sr. He passed away April 29, 2010.
Mamie owned and operated Brown’s Enterprises with her late husband for many years. She was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in Nine Mile Creek in Utica, NY, in 1949. Mrs. Brown attended five specialized schools for full time ministers called Pioneer Service School. She served in the Kingdom Halls of Rome, Boonville, and the Central Congregation in Utica.
Mamie is survived by a daughter, Edna Burke; six sons, Michael (Gail), Morris (Damaris), Horace, Hadley Jr. (Heather), Tim (Colleen), and James; twelve grandchildren, Tanya, Vonda, Jonathon, Gregory, Mamie, Curtis, Stephen, Alex, Whitney, Lea, Jean-Marc and Matthew; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Johnathon and Phillip; and six brothers and sisters.

Obituary Preview: Ret. Major Dr. Stephanie E. Yaworski, 84, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born in Rome on January 17, 1940, a daughter of the late Andrew and Genevieve (Simon) Yaworski. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and Keuka College.
Stephanie began her teaching career in Greece, NY, in the late 1960s and in 1971 she enlisted as an Officer in the United States Army. She was Honoralby Discharged in 1973 but her service to our country was just beginning. Stephanie went on to serve in the US Army Reserves and achieve the rank of Major before retiring in 2005.
While in the Reserves, she returned to teaching and landed at Bowling Green University. She was a Professor in the School of Business for many years before retiring and moving back to Rome.
She was a parishioner of Transfiguration Church.
Stephanie is survived by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Pouliot; and several cousins, Diane Mandryck, Joanne Van Wagenen (Howard), Gail Littler, John Yaworski (Mary K.), Joseph Yaworski (Linda), Barbara Waters (Jim) and Robert Simon. She was predeceased by a sister, Andrea Pouliot.

Patricia A. Bryant - July 30, 1950 - January 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Bryant, 73, of Rome, passed away on January 25, 2024, at Rome Health, after a long battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gallion, AL, on July 30, 1950, a daughter of the late Horace and Octavia (Robinson) Bryant. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and would frequently join her family for Mass at St. Peter’s Church. Her faith helped her navigate her way through her difficult illness.
Patricia worked at Stonehedge Nursing Home for several years before taking a job with the NYS Department of Corrections. She worked at the Mohawk Correctional Facility until her retirement.
When she retired, Patricia spent time enjoying the outdoors, feeding the birds, gardening, fishing and vacationing. She was also a “lucky” Bingo player and enjoyed watching football, spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Patricia was a spiritual, loving, caring and private person who loved her breakfast dates with Dawn and endless years of friendship with Maiva.
She is survived by a daughter, Melisha Bryant; son, Verryll Bryant (Sheri); six grandchildren, Devin, Nolan, Reece, Millie, Milandria and Kendo; one great-granddaughter, Naomi; two sisters, Christine Jones and Sadie Lomax; brother, Levie Bryant; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Eunice Hill.
Patricia’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on 2 East and ICU nurse Jenelle Garrett at Rome Health, for their professionalism, care and compassion.

He was born in Lewistown, PA, on June 25, 1948, a son of the late Earl and Nellie (Hall) Bleyer. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 8, 1968 and served in the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972. In 1984 he was united in marriage to Janet Turner. She passed away March 6, 2019.
Larry’s unwavering commitment shone through during his tenure at Birnie Bus Co., where he adeptly served as a dedicated mechanic and a trusted bus driver. His meticulous nature was evident not only in his work but also in his love for crossword puzzles and his expertise in maintaining and tinkering with his own truck. Larry’s passion for cinema made him a true movie buff, enriching the lives of those around him with his knowledge and enthusiasm.
Larry is survived by a stepdaughter, Rhoda Edinger; three sisters, Mary Turner, Susan Turner and Shirley Turner (Edwin); two brothers, David Gebo (Peggy) and Robert Gebo; two grandchildren, Kenny Edinger (Serena) and Neil Edinger; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Sally Edick; a brother, Charles Gebo; and stepfather, Lawrence Gebo.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours.

She was born in Oriskany on July 15, 1972, a daughter of the late Seymour “Larry” and Mary Ann (Kulmus) Kessler. She was a graduate of Oriskany High School and on February 11, 2018, she was united in marriage to Ronald Toepp.
Terri was a beverage server at Vernon Downs Casino for the last 12 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting Turning Stone Casino. She looked forward to her and Ron’s annual adventure to Lake George every summer.
Surviving besides her loving husband, Ronald, are two children, Miranda Martin (Corey) and Jacob Martin; four sisters, Linda Kessler, Cheryl Barcomb (Kyle), Sandy Aventini (Carmen) and Laura Fryc (Rick); a brother, Scott Kessler; two stepchildren, Anna Osterhoudt (Molly) and Kyle Toepp (Carolyn); five cherished grandchildren, Kaydence, Kennedy, Lauralei, Lydia and Noah; close friend, Megan Thorpe; several nieces and nephews; and her two beloved dogs, Benny and Bella.

Brenda worked for Price Chopper for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing golf and woodworking. She has made several items that her family will treasure forever.
Brenda was a wonderful daughter, caring sister, wonderful aunt and an amazing friend. She was a kind human being and positively impacted lives. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she loved her nieces and nephews.
Surviving besides her parents, Francis and Marion, is a brother and a sister-in-law, Randy and Jill Prosser; nieces and nephews, Wendy Carlson, Samantha Phillips, Erin Phillips, Erica Roberts, Ashley Prosser and Kyle Prosser; great-niece and great-nephews, Rich Carlson, Steve Carlson, Kiley Prosser, Brantlee Bishop, Jordan Bilak and Axel Prosser. She was predeceased by a sister, Karen Phillips; and a nephew, Matthew Prosser.

Janice worked at Griffiss Air Force Base for the Department of the Air Force for several years, retiring in 1995. She was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Lee Center and belonged to the Lee Center Senior Citizens and the YMCA.
Surviving besides her loving husband of 62 years, Harley, are three daughters, Roxeanne DeMarche (Aaron), Amy Fuller (Roy) and Wendy Bowers (Heidi Niessen); a son, Jeffrey Bowers (Brenda); two sisters, Phoebe Mautner (Jack) and Mary Mogensen (John); a brother, Michael Henry (Sheila); six cherished grandchildren, Harley Bowers, Ryan Bowers (Amanda), Aaron and Taylor DeMarche, Ashley Halladay (Andrew) and Rachel Phoenix (Jack) eight precious great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Rome on October 25, 1968, the son of Ronald and Mary Hauk (Wheeler). He was a 1987 graduate of Holland Patent High School and on June 3, 1995, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Wendy Calandra.
Joe was proudly known by many as “Genesee Joe” for his love for the beer. He would hide his empty beer cans all around for people to find. In his free time he loved to hunt, fish and especially loved his time spent at his camp in Osceola. He was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed going to the races at Utica-Rome Speedway. He was a member of the Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club as well as the American-Ukranian Veterans and Men’s Club.
Surviving beside his loving wife, Wendy, are his two beloved children whom he was so proud of, Eric and Jeanna (Matthew); his father, Ronald Hauk; his sister, Kelly Lanston (Rick); nieces and nephews, Alexis, Connor, Peyton, Peter, Nicolas and Aria; several aunts and uncles, including a special uncle, John “Cracker” Wheeler (Pat); his mother-in-law, Jeanne Albrecht (Jim); brother-in-law’s, Peter (Denise), Patrick and Jason (Amy) Calandra; many cousins; and a long list of beloved friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary; and father-in-law, Peter Calandra.
Keeping with his wishes, there will be a celebration of life on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 5:00pm at the Stanwix Veterans and Men’s Club. Help us keep the legacy of Genesee Joe alive and fill the room with your finest Genny apparel.

She was a 1959 graduate of Proctor High School and on June 12th, 1965, she was united in marriage to Paul A. Zakala.
Josephine worked at Mele Manufacturing Company, General Electric, and was a monitor for the Rome City School District. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church.
She loved to attend her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, family doings, the Miami Dolphins, and The New York Yankees. Josephine enjoyed celebrating all holidays, especially Halloween, with family and friends. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and plenty of food. You could always find her wearing purple and celebrating with a glass of Lambrusco. She was an avid fan of General Hospital and spent many late nights catching up on her soaps.
Surviving besides her loving husband of 58 years, Paul, are two daughters, Gina Bird (Jerome) and Paula Jones (Aaron); a son, Richard Zakala (Anne Marie); seven grandchildren Ashley Bird (Jamie); Alexis Zakala, Matt Zakala, Jenna Zakala, Amanda Bird (Zach); Meredith Jones, and Ryan Jones; three great-grandchildren Brooklyn Brown, Brennan Bird, and Ellianna Zakala, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters Flora and her husband Carl DeFazio, Rose and her husband Ralph Jackson, Mary Rubino, Giovanna “Jenny” Rubino, and a brother Santon “Sammy” Rubino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 15th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 200 N. James St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Nancy worked at the Quality Inn and The Grand in Rome for many years.
She is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Carusone and Carmella Currier; four brothers, Joseph Carusone, Peter Carusone, Dominick Carusone, and Pasquale Carusone; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Victoria Morrison and Caroline Cummings; and three brothers, Anthony, John and Salvatore Carusone.
Nancy’s family would like to thank the Drs., nurses and staff of ICU at Upstate for their wonderful care and compassion during her time there.
Graveside services will be held at Maple Flats Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours.

Obituary Preview: Margaret (Margee) Burns Grow passed away suddenly at home on Friday, January 5, 2024. Born on December 18, 1943, in Alton, IL, she lived in many parts of the country but spent her formative years in Briarcliff Manor, NY, attending Briarcliff High School. Margee then earned a degree in French and English at St. Lawrence University, where she met the love of her life, David. Initially, she embarked on a career as a secondary French teacher before accompanying her husband during his service in the US Army, spending four years in Ft. Rucker, AL.
Margee and David settled in Rome and started a family. As soon as her children were all in school, Margee began her 20-year career as an elementary school teacher, while also earning a Masters Degree in Education from Elmira College. Throughout her tenure, she was known for her hard work, dedication and passion for teaching. Even after her retirement, Margee maintained contact with many of her students, a testament to the lasting impact she had on those whose lives she touched.
More than anything, Margee loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, cherishing the special times spent together at Raquette Lake, NY every summer. She had a wonderful group of friends and extended family for whom she provided and received support and encouragement. Above all, Margee was very spiritual, fostering a strong relationship with God, leaving her family confident that she is now at peace in heaven with the Lord.
Margee is preceded in death by her parents, Robert K. and Neva Burns of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and her brother, James Burns of Salt Lake City, UT. She is survived by her devoted husband, David C. Grow, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Margee leaves behind a legacy through her loving children: Karen Grow Bobowick and her husband Todd, along with their sons Colden and Hayden; Brian Grow and his significant other, Christina D'Amore, and his daughters Kaitlin and Sarah; and Susan Grow and her significant other, Joel Previte, along with Susan's children Sam, Molly, and Henry Colmey.

Obituary Preview: Jack L. Krumbach, 96, of Rome, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Rome Health, surrounded by his family. Born in Rome on July 8, 1927, he was a son of the late John and Katherine (Sharpe) Krumbach. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and on May 26, 1951, he was united in marriage to Ellen Winterton.
As World War II began roar, Jack answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy on July 27, 1944, as a member of the Seabees. He served until being honorably discharged on June 10, 1946.
After coming back to Rome following his military service, Jack went to work at Revere Copper and Brass Co., where he had a long career. When he retired, Jack and Ellen would winter at their home in Brooksville, FL.
He was a communicant at St. Paul’s Church and former member of the Henry P. Smith Post American Legion and the Brooksville Elks Lodge. Jack was very handy and loved a good DIY project. He had a green thumb and tended to a wonderful vegetable garden. He was an avid golfer and even made his own clubs.
Surviving besides his loving wife of 72 years, Ellen, are three daughters, Carol Macmanus (Joseph), Barbara Kane and Patricia Edmond (Russell); a son, Steven Krumbach (Teresa); nine cherished grandchildren, Christopher Macmanus (Megan), Christine Clark (Ian), Andrew Krumbach, Kathleen Krumbach, Nicole Krumbach (Jeffry), Thomas Triffo (Ashley), Kelsey Kane, Curtis Edmond (Courtney) and Eric Edmond (Irene); eleven precious great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a two granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth and Stephanie Krumbach; a sister, Virginia Burch; and a brother, Paul Krumbach.

Obituary Preview: Joseph William Barry, 99, of New York Mills formerly of Town of Lee, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 31st, 2023.
He was born on May 25th,1924 in Taylor, Pennsylvania, a son of the late James and Olga (Wilchenski) Barry. Joseph was educated at Sibley Elementary School in Old Forge. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, in the Pacific Theater from December 1942 through December 1945. After the war, Joseph returned home and married Helen Petrosky, the love of his life, on June 1st, 1946 in St. Peter's Cathedral in Scranton, PA. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen on September 29th, 2017. Joe’s greatest treasure in life was his beautiful wife of 71 years.
Joseph worked different factory, construction and painting jobs throughout the years.
Joseph's hobbies included raising and racing pigeons, gardening, and canning with his dear wife. He would move mountains to make those around him happy, he especially loved playing with his grandchildren, whether it was building elaborate snow castles, raking huge piles of leaves to jump into or fishing anywhere with water. He was well known for offering a friendly smile and wave to passerbyers while enjoying the outdoors.
He was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church in Rome.
Joseph is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Stephen Misiaszek of Florida; a son, Joseph Barry Jr. and best friend Wendy Luton of New York Mills; five grandchildren Stephen (Tracy) Misiaszek, Kristy Misiaszek, Lisa Voci, Daniel Barry, and Melissa (Chris) Faga; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a former daughter-in-law, Joy Barry and a beloved family dog, NaJune. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jason Barry; two brothers, John and Edward and two sisters, Helen and Beverly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
