Sonja E. Cram - Unknown - April 09, 2020

Departed: 04/09/2020 (Coos Bay)
Obituary Preview: Sonja Elaine (Hultin) Cram was born Dec. 29, 1939 to Donald Earl Hultin and Dorothy Bell (Wiggins) Hultin in Coquille. She passed away peacefully at home with her family around her at 9 p.m. on April 9, 2020 from cancer.
Sonja grew up in Randolph on the Coquille River and graduated from Bandon High School in 1958. While she reluctantly consented to a double date with Allan from Port Orford, at the request of her childhood best friend, it was the beginning of a lifelong journey together. During the early years of their dating she completed her certification as a beautician from the Skelton Beauty Academy in Coos Bay.
After their marriage on May 8, 1960 they took up residence in Port Orford, Allan’s home town. They began their family in Port Orford and remained there until 1967, at which time they moved to Gold Beach, Ore. In these early years of starting a family, Sonja was home raising their children while Allan and his father owned and operated a small logging company in Coos and Curry County. Throughout the years Sonja worked as a hairdresser in Port Orford, Gold Beach, and Bandon.
In 1974, Allan and Sonja moved their family up to Bandon to take over the ownership and operation of Sonja’s family’s Cranberry Farm where Sonja had spent her high school years. The farm became the family’s permanent home. Their children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren still continue to enjoy returning to the multi-generational family farm for gatherings and events.
Sonja loved to travel! Through their married years, they enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends to the Rogue River, Diamond Lake, Lost Creek Dam, Crater Lake, Yellowstone National Park, Arizona, and many other beautiful locations around the Pacific Northwest. They also enjoyed international travel to Europe, the South Pacific, and Asia. They participated in several church sponsored mission trips to the Dominican Republic and the Navajo reservation outside of Page, Ariz,.
With their love of the great out of doors, Sonja and Allan spent many outings water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, canoeing, boating, taking walks on the beach and just getting out and enjoying nature with family and friends.
Sonja and Allan dedicated much of their time and energy serving at the Bandon Seventh-day Adventist Church. Allan has served as an Elder of the church since 1974. Sonja very conscientiously served as the Church Treasurer for nearly 15 years. Their faith and their church family are a very meaningful part of their daily life.
Sonja’s faith, her love for her family and many friends, and sharing time together gave Sonja joy and fulfillment throughout her 80 years. Her absence will create a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends. Her loved ones look forward to reuniting with her at Christ’s second coming.
She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Allan Cram, of Bandon, with whom she was anticipating celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on May 8, 2020; as well as three children, Rondi (Cram) Puls of Coos Bay, Roger Cram of Bandon, and Allyson Cram of Bandon; six grandchildren, Randi (Kingery) White, Staci Kingery, Ryan Kingery, Rebekah VanBuren, Dillon VanBuren, and Garrett Cram; and nine great-grandchildren.

Frederick B. Sutton - July 23, 1941 - December 24, 2019

Departed: 12/24/2019 (Coos Bay)
Obituary Preview: At his request, no services will be held for Frederick J. Sutton, 78, of Coos Bay.
Fred was born July 23, 1941 in Mason City, Wash. to  Frederick B Sutton Sr. and Mrs. Ruby Eastman. He passed away Dec. 24, 2019 at Monarch Memory Gardens in Brookings, Ore. Fred was raised in Wenatchee, Wash., attending Sunny Slope schools and Wenatchee Valley College. After enlisting in the Navy in 1964 he was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida to Navy Air Squadron VP- 16. Fred worked for GTE/GTE Northwest in Ore. and Wash. retiring in Coos Bay after 30 years. He was not a guy that could sit still and kept himself busy every day. Working for his friends at Coos River
Rock gave him great pleasure, he was part of a crew, he got to get dirty and muddy and he had working guys to talk to (and even yell at) every day.
Fred was very outgoing; he enjoyed car racing, golf, bowling, baseball, football, fishing, hunting, and camping. As a life member of RMEF, hunting and camping were closest to his heart, he thought about it all year long and you could see the excitement build as fall approached. There was no such thing as an unsuccessful season, he may not have bagged an animal but he would be recharged and ready for the coming year. Fred and Carolyn trekked to every corner of the northwest in every imaginable kind of weather to hunt, fish or just camp and enjoyed every freezing cold wet muddy hot dry dusty perfect sunrise sunset minute of it.
Fred is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sutton of Coos Bay; sisters, Louise (Jerry) Harlow, Wenatchee, Wash., Betty (Dan) Carlson, Snohomish, Wash.; sons, Sgt.Maj. Phillip (Tina) Coble USMC Ret., Sunset, LA and Joshua Deere, Coos Bay, Ore.; daughters, Letitia (Larry) Daugherty, Bandon, Ore., Michelle (David) Young, Newberg, Ore., and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce McAlpine of Ephrata, Wash.
Fred’s wishes were that in lieu of flowers donations would be made to, your favorite charity, RMEF, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements are under the care of Myrtle Grove Funeral Service-Bay Area. 541-269-2851. Friends and family are encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.coosbayareafunerals.com.
