Peggy Joyce Brooks - June 30, 1942 - September 17, 2022

Departed: 09/17/2022 (Monroe)
Obituary Preview: Peggy Joyce Brooks, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on September 17, 2022. She was a lifetime resident of Monroe and is now an eternal citizen of Heaven, worshipping the One who died on the old rugged cross for her.
As a young girl, Peggy contracted polio; and as an adult, she suffered from Post-Polio Syndrome, which left her decidedly disabled. Yet Peggy’s indefatigable, indomitable spirit would not be crushed. With grit and grace, she lived a full, active life in spite of challenges and limitations that would have conquered most of us.
Peggy was expert angler, perfecting every aspect of the sport of fishing. She knew where the fish were, when they’d be there, and what they’d bite on. She could back a boat and trailer into a postage stamp-sized spot, and her ability to run a trolling motor is the thing legends are made of. She eagerly passed her love of fishing to many young people, just as her father had instilled it in her.
Wherever you found Peggy, you always found a cold Dr. Pepper. She loved watching college and professional football, bull riding, and the delicate hummingbirds that swarmed her many feeders. She could grill burgers and chops to perfection; and her homemade, simmer-all-day spaghetti sauce was to die for.
Peggy worked at Northeast Louisiana University/University of Louisiana Monroe for 40 years as an administrative assistant in the Maintenance Department. She absolutely loved her job and “her guys” there.
Peggy is survived by many family members, friends, loved ones, and caregivers, all of whom love her deeply. We will forever remember the giving, accepting love she demonstrated toward each of us.
