Departed: 04/21/2024 (Imlay City)
Obituary Preview: Florence Ann Pytleski of Allenton, MI died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, after an extended illness. She was 88 years old.
Her parents were Joseph and Florence (nee’ Dobies) Laszczak. The fourth of eight children, she was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 11, 1935. Growing up in Detroit and Hamtramck, she graduated from Saint Thomas High School in 1953. She worked as a beautician after graduation. Florence married Raymond Pytleski at the Church of the Resurrection on June 14, 1958. Last year they celebrated 65 years of marriage. They lived in Detroit and Warren before moving to Allenton in 1971.
Florence was a homemaker to Ray and their seven children. She loved the Church, never missed a Sunday Holy Mass and prayed the Rosary daily until illness prevented her. She was a fierce defender of the faith, the Truth and her family, devoting herself to all of them. Her loyalty was unmatched. You wanted her on your team! She was Nana to her thirty-two grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
Family meant everything to Nana and she showed her love and devotion in celebrating every holiday, birthday, and special event with her homemade Polish food and countless family recipes. Christmas was her favorite as she cooked and shopped for sixty plus people. The number of events that she has thrown over the years and has helped with, would be in the hundreds! She worked at St. Joseph West for nearly ten years and then over twenty years for several oncologists, administering chemotherapy in an outpatient setting. She enjoyed her work immensely and was loved by her patients as a compassionate nurse.
Near retirement, in her late 70’s, she caught the slot-machine bug, loving the bells, whistles, lights and colors. She often travelled with family to local casinos. When she won big, she shared it with her kids as she had a generous heart. A lifelong card player, she was a formidable opponent and quite competitive at many local Euchre and Texas Hold ‘Em events.
Florence is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Donna (Mark) Simpson, Michelle Pytleski, Mark (Kim) Pytleski, Paul (Mary) Pytleski, Matthew (Carol) Pytleski, John (Kimberly) Pytleski and Beth Ann Klein; sisters, Rita Barthlow, RoseAnn Lebioda, Diane (Dave) Belkowski; brothers, Ronnie Laszczak and Jerry Laszczak; and sister-in-law, Frances Igl-Clark. Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries are important because they provide a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also informing others of their passing. They can also serve as a historical record, providing valuable information for genealogical research and future generations.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, an obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include a brief biography, achievements, and any notable accomplishments.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's generally recommended to keep it concise and to the point. Aim for around 150-200 words, depending on the publication's guidelines.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information such as name, age, and date of death. An obituary is a longer, more detailed tribute that celebrates the person's life.

Can I include humor or personality in an obituary?

Absolutely! An obituary should reflect the personality and spirit of the deceased. Including humorous anecdotes or quotes can help make the notice more engaging and memorable.

How do I handle sensitive or private information in an obituary?

If there are sensitive or private details you'd rather not share publicly, it's best to omit them from the obituary or discuss them with immediate family members before publication.

Can I include charitable donations or memorial information in an obituary?

Yes, many families choose to include information about charitable donations or memorial funds in lieu of flowers. This can be a meaningful way to honor the deceased and support a worthy cause.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

The timeframe for publication varies depending on the publication's schedule and deadlines. Online publications may post immediately, while print newspapers may take several days or weeks.

Can I edit or revise an obituary after it's been published?

In most cases, revisions are not possible once an obituary has been published. Be sure to proofread carefully before submission to avoid errors.

What if I need to correct an error in an already-published obituary?

Contact the publication directly to report the error. They may be able to issue a correction or reprint the revised obituary.

Can I republish an obituary at a later date?

Sometimes families want to republish an obituary on significant dates like anniversaries or birthdays. Check with the publication for their policies on republication.

Are online obituaries permanent records?

Most online publications archive their obituaries indefinitely, making them accessible for years to come. However, it's always a good idea to save a copy for your personal records.

Can I create my own online memorial or tribute page?

Yes! Many websites offer tools to create personalized memorial pages where friends and family can share memories and condolences.

How do I find archived obituaries from past years?

You can search online archives of newspapers or visit local libraries that maintain archives of past publications. Some websites also specialize in archiving historical obituaries.

Can I use social media to share an obituary?

Absolutely! Social media platforms can be a convenient way to share news of a loved one's passing with friends and family who may not see traditional newspaper notices.

What if I'm unsure about what to write in an obituary?

Drafting an obituary can be overwhelming. Consider enlisting the help of a friend or family member, or seeking guidance from a funeral home or professional writer.

Is it necessary to include every detail about the deceased's life in an obituary?

No! Focus on highlighting the most important aspects of their life, personality, and achievements. You want to create a meaningful tribute that honors their memory without overwhelming readers with too much information.

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and meaning to an obituary. Choose something that resonates with the deceased's personality or values.
