Scott M. Kennison - November 30, 1936 - May 10, 2024

Departed: 05/10/2024 (Cedarburg)
Obituary Preview: Scott Michael Kennison of Cedarburg, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, at the age of 87. He lived a good and productive life, rich in family, friends, and adventure.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of almost 64 years, Marie, his three children, Glen (Chippewa Falls), Jennifer (Los Altos, California), and Craig (Cedarburg) along with Craig’s wife Katie and the beloved grandchildren they brought to the family, Craig Jr., Mary and Claire. He was proud to watch each of them grow and prosper in their sports, activities and lives and would brag about them to anyone who would listen.
Scott was born in Duluth, Minnesota on November 30, 1936, to Dorothy and Everett Kennison. At a young age, he moved to Minneapolis with his mother and sister Patricia to live with his grandparents. His grandfather, Glenn, instilled in him a strong work ethic and taught him to take pride in a job well done. With lessons learned maintaining a duplex with his grandfather, Scott became a skilled carpenter and handyman.
After graduating from Minneapolis Southwest High School and then the University of Minnesota, he was blessed to marry his wife and devoted companion, Marie, on July 23, 1960. Soon after, they moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio and built their first home. After a few years, they returned to Minneapolis, where they lived until 1976. A job promotion fatefully led them to Cedarburg, where they raised their three children. Living in Cedarburg was a blessing for his family.
Scott was a consummate salesman throughout his life, first for 3M, and then for most of his career with Diebold, where he made many friends in the banking industry. He also worked at Deluxe, and finished his career as part of a team that built US Processing during its early years. After he retired, Scott served 10 years on Cedarburg’s Police and Fire Commission.
Scott was gregarious and made friends wherever he went. He thrived on exploration and adventure in the companionship of his family and friends--sometimes to their wonder, and other times to their dismay. Summer was the season for fishing and camping trips. Year after year, he fished the lakes of Minnesota and Wisconsin, Alaska, Canada and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, as well as nearby Lake Michigan, no matter the conditions. He brought people together with his (often embellished) storytelling, and loved to share the bounty of their catch after each adventure. Fall was the season for hunting, whether for grouse, ducks or deer, but always in companionship with people he loved. Each year, deer camp combined the camaraderie and love for the outdoors that he cherished. He was truly blessed to have many meaningful and lifelong friendships.
His perennial home improvement projects were always “opportunities” for family and neighbors to help with a “quick” project together. “It’ll only take a couple hours” he’d say. In return, he was quick to assist others with their projects. He also thrived on his woodworking projects. The kitchen table often became his workbench. His family cherishes many of the special pieces he made. He always wanted to be busy, but when relaxation was needed, he was a voracious reader. He may have read all the books Cedarburg’s library had to offer.
The Kennison family is exceptionally grateful to the staff of Cedarburg Health Services, where he lived his final years. They provided great care, compassion, and kindness to “Scotty” through the many health challenges he faced.
Funeral services will be held June 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon. Visitation will precede services, from 9:30 – 11:00.

Nancy A. Kaminski - March 10, 1956 - March 23, 2024

Departed: 03/23/2024 (Cedarburg)
Obituary Preview: Nancy (Michalek) Kaminski, passed away March 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born to Norma (Brannan) Michalek on March 10, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
From an early age, Nancy had a knack for creating. As a girl, she spent weekends sewing with her grandmother. Nancy would practice this skill for decades to come. She worked as a seamstress at Gimbels and continued to sew throughout her life. Nancy made clothing and costumes for her children, altered clothing for friends and family, stitched up projects to decorate her home, and made plenty of scrub jackets, surgical caps, and masks for the many doctors and nurses she worked with throughout her career. Nancy also happily spent countless hours in the kitchen, a passion she inherited from her mother. Those lucky enough to know Nancy surely indulged in many of her baked goods and wonderful dinners. Nancy’s talents gained her recognition in the form of Wisconsin State Fair ribbons, an article in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and plenty of requests to share her recipes (which she did happily). Beyond crafting and baking, Nancy enjoyed her garden. She had a special love for beautiful flowers having spent several years as a florist, but she also grew rhubarb, vegetables, and herbs. Hardly a summer day went by without Nancy pulling out just one more weed before she ran out to spend time with family and friends. Because Nancy never liked to sit still, she filled any spare time she could with games of cribbage with her husband Allen, traveling, bumming (Nancy’s term for shopping) with her sisters and daughters, and volunteering at Ascension Columbia-St. Mary’s. What Nancy was most known for, however, was her warmth, kind heart, and infectious laugh. These qualities made Nancy an incredible wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Allen; sisters Debby and Mary Michalek; children James, Charles, Chad Kowalewski (Katie), Heather Kowalewski, Angela and Lisa (Michael Stock); and grandchildren Benjamin and Anna Kowalewski. She is further survived by many, many friends. Nancy is loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1619 Washington Street Grafton, WI) on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Family will receive family and friends at church from 9:00 AM till 10:45 AM.

John was born to natural life on November 11, 1935, the son of the late Theodore George Kolbach and the late Margaret Leona (nee Kultgen) Kolbach. Brother of the late James Sebastian Kolbach and the late Theodore Anthony Kolbach. John was born and died on his family’s homestead. He grew up in the community of Holy Cross and knew all of his neighbors and was known by many of the same. John had a special connection with the Mike and Lori Paulus family who farmed the Kolbach land for the better part of John’s life.
John served his country when he joined the Army on May 5, 1958, through 1960; before President Kennedy was elected, during the Eisenhower administration (as John would tell it). He served in the Second Missile Command in Fort Worth, Texas, which took him into New Mexico to White Sands to do maneuvers test firing missiles. When on leave John traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii with the Military Transport Service, then he went on to Arizona and off to Washington DC.
After his tour of duty, John came home to work at Goldberg Molding in Adell. Feeling restless and a bit of a maverick, John continued to travel and drove to Fairbanks, Alaska for a short time to see the sights. He went on to Idaho and worked at the Sunshine Mine, then off to Seattle, Washington where he worked at Grey Iron Foundry and tried his hand at the Baxter Pole Company. In 1980 John moved to Lomita, California to join his brother James. Although James was a Millwright by trade, John took a job at Sun Mart Supply as a Truck Driver, spending more time on the road transporting hazardous materials and stayed with that company until 1993. John returned home after the death of his mother in support of his father. He remained on the farm for the rest of his lifetime.
Per John’s Request, there will be no service with a burial to be determined at a later date.

On a bright summer day, Barbara met Richard George Herz while walking along Wisconsin Avenue. They both loved music, good food and cool cars, as well as time spent on the water and with family. Rich and Barbara married on February 16, 1957 at Gesu Church. Life changed in 1963 with their first daughter, Suzette Ann, and continued with two more beautiful girls Joette Margaret and Holly Ann. She passed on her devotion, sacrifice and passion about life, food, history, cultures, helping others and the importance of friendships. Barbara made sure her grandchildren were front and center in her life by spending endless hours playing games, reading, drawing, and looking for bugs.
