Obituary Preview: Denise Holmes passed peacefully on March 15th at Somerby Assisted Living in Peachtree City. Denise was born October 7, 1944, outside Newcastle-upon-Tyne in northern England to Thomas and Ada Anderson. She was the second of a set of twins, and had her big sister, Valerie, who helped care for her.At age 11 she won a prestigious scholarship to Heaton High School and from there went to the University of Sheffield where she gained both a degree in English Language and Literature and a husband in John Holmes. John and Denise were married almost 50 years, until his death in 2018. John took his first job at Ford Motor Company, which set them on a path to world travel. Two daughters were born in the UK – Sarah in 1971 and Elizabeth in 1974. Shortly after Elizabeth was born, they left the UK for a three-year assignment. During his 30+ years with the company, the family moved to South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Germany and finally landed in the US.Denise became a US citizen and lived in Michigan until John’s retirement when they moved to Florida. Due to the constant moving, Denise gave up her career as a teacher and became a full-time mother to her girls, as well as an active volunteer in the community, often leading school committees, local HOAs or volunteering at nursing homes and charitable endeavors. Her health was often an issue, but she persevered and in 1998 became a grandmother with the birth of her first grandchild Mathew, to Sarah and husband Lester. In 2001, Emily joined her big brother.Denise is survived by her daughters Elizabeth who lives in California, and Sarah (Lester) Holmes-Hackerd who lives in Peachtree City, and her grandchildren Mathew and Emily. She is also survived by her twin brother Michael (Maxine) Anderson and her big sister Valerie Giles who live in the UK. She will be missed by her loving family and friends.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, in 1943, Hugh graduated from Allegany High School and went on to study at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, and was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he started his 40 year career with PPG Industries working in Cumberland, Maryland; Dover, Delaware; and Eastpoint, Georgia.Scouting was an important part of his life. Beginning at an early age he was involved in all levels of scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout which shaped his lifelong values. Hugh was always a gentleman and treated everyone with respect and kindness. He enjoyed all aspects of woodworking and creating beautiful, useful pieces that he shared with others. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own household as she worked and volunteered with school children while living in Florida and most recently the elderly at Ashley Glen Senior Living in Peachtree City. Jeanine's generous heart knew no bounds as she spent most of her time cherishing the role of a devoted Mom and Mimi.An enthusiast for a good cup of coffee alongside a story through her daily readings, soap operas, or long-lasting conversations with countless good friends and family, she was a person that others leaned on to share their own life stories in turn for helpful advice. Her walks on the beach and down country roads in the mountains always gave her peace and felt like home to her. A surrogate mom to many, always with an open house and a smile, her vibrant personality brightened the lives of all who knew her. Her presence was a gift to the community and her love for family and friends will be forever cherished.She is preceded in death by father, Alexander Provest Kenna, and mother, Betty Mae Curry. She was predeceased by her parents, a younger brother, and her husband, Hung Doan. Martha is survived by four younger brothers, a younger sister, seven children, 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and other relatives living in the United States, Vietnam, and Norway.Martha was born on June 15, 1933, married in 1950, and lived in Danang, Vietnam until 1990 when she came to Omaha, Nebraska to join the rest of her family. In Vietnam as well as in the US, Martha was an entrepreneur and a successful businesswoman. Her motto was “I buy at 5, and sell at 10”. She was instrumental in sending the three oldest children to the United States for high school and college. Despite the hardships associated with the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, Martha was able to arrange for her husband, three younger children, and a nephew to come to the United States of America, while staying behind in Vietnam with the remaining son and his family until 1990.In Omaha, Martha worked at various jobs, the longest at JCPenney, where customers both in the alterations and sales departments loved her workmanship and friendly, helpful demeanor. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, collecting jewelry, and going to the movies. Most gratifying of all, Martha loved attending church, playing hymnals on her organ, and reciting Psalms 23 (the Lord is my shepherd) and the Lord’s prayer. Martha and her husband lived in Omaha until 2021 when they moved to Newnan, Georgia to be cared for by her daughter Thao with her son-in-law Don. Despite challenging health setbacks in her later years, she maintained a cheerful outlook. Her instructions to her children were “study hard, work hard, become good people, and help each other.”On Saturday March 16, 2024, Martha Nguyen’s family and friends will celebrate a life well lived at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City, Georgia, at 10:30am EST. He was very patriotic since he served our country for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He valued his challenging job with the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller. Prior to his retirement, he was based in San Juan, Puerto Rico and worked the international air traffic at the San Juan Center Radar Approach Control (CERAP) for six years.Bob really enjoyed being in the cockpit and he flew as a private pilot for various owners including the tycoon, Ted Turner. His other interests included playing golf at the various Flat Creek Clubs, competing in an intense game of chess or creating beautiful paintings with his natural, artistic talent.Bob treasured his daughter, Robin but he adored his granddaughters, Emma, and Olivia. He had an incredible bond with his beloved Son-In-Law, Andrew Hite. Spending time with all of his family brought him immense joy.Bob will be remembered for his quick wit, kind spirit, and mischievous sense of humor. With unwavering commitment, he continued to inspire and mentor students for 32 years until his well-deserved retirement from Whitewater High School in 2012.Beyond his professional successes, Steve found solace and joy in his interests, which included fishing, camping, gardening, and playing golf. Lillie also worked for the Pennsylvania school district as a bus monitor, taking care of challenged children.Lillie enjoyed decorating her homes in Port Vue, PA, Titusville, FL and Peachtree City, GA. Throughout her life she took many classes in painting, pottery and flower arrangement. Lillie was active in the community in Port Vue, working for friends during local elections and was also a member of the Italian Club for many years with her husband. Lillie was also a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.Lillie was preceded in death by her husband Emil S Yates (1929-2016), and son Mark A Yates (1965-1969). Obituary Preview: Thomas Allen Eddy, 60, passed away on February 22, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children, after over an 11-year battle with cancer and associated complications.He was born to Carl and Joan (Krasse) Eddy on December 21, 1963, in Bay Shore, New York. Thomas went to high school at F.W. Springstead High School in Springhill, Florida, when he met his wife Lorelei Ann (Rouse) who attended a nearby high school. They married on June 2nd, 1984; this summer they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.Thomas would go on to graduate from Florida Southern College with a Bachelors in Psychology/Sociology and later from Reformed Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity.In April 1986, Thomas joined the U.S. Army, where he served his country for over 29 years, most of that time as a Chaplain serving his Lord while supporting soldiers around the world.After retiring from the Army, Thomas and Lorelei joined Mission to North America’s Mission to State, and founded a specific ministry to State Capitols, which focused on establishing pastoral care at state capitals across the country to support our country’s leaders with prayer, scripture, and godly counsel.Thomas is survived by his wife Lorelei, their daughter Andreana, her husband Matthew Morris and their children Miriam and Aria, son Jonathan, son Joseph, his wife Ineke and their children Kytalin, Lydia, Ryleigh, and expectant adopted twins Myles and Dylan, son Christopher, his wife Callie and their children, Emery, Ona-Lena, Ellis, Avalynn, son Paul, and son Samuel, his brother Kenneth and wife Kim, their son Edward Swan and Kenneth’s son Kenneth Jr., his sister Cindyann, her husband Edward Johnson, and their children Jessica Mae, James, and Jason.He is proceeded by his father, mother, and brother James.When Thomas was first diagnosed with Lymphoma in November 2012, he was told that the disease was terminal and he could have as little as a couple of months to live. He would go on to fight for 11 years, facing multiple mutations, setbacks, and associated illnesses, ultimately succumbing to complications from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, including COVID, that were exacerbated by being immunocompromised as a result of cancer treatments.In those 11 years, the Lord blessed Thomas greatly. He got to meet 8 additional grandchildren, baptizing 7 of them, he was honored to perform 3 weddings, including ones for his brother and a nephew. He took over 400 flights, traveling to 70+ cities, in 7 countries, exploring the world with Lorelei, and bringing blessings to friends and strangers alike, they grew the State Capitol mission substantially and established strong leadership which will carry forward the ministry for decades to come, and had the pleasure to be a witness and joy to countless people.A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, GA, with burial to follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, GA, where military honors will be observed. Since the age of 16, he had been employed at Home Depot, where he held various positions in two different states.Christian had a passion for baseball and had visited 12 different major league baseball parks in his lifetime, with Truist Park being his favorite. He was an unwavering fan of the Atlanta Braves, always supporting them, especially during their World Series victories. Family vacations were a special time for Christian, particularly enjoying the homemade travel books created by his mother. Wielding a handmade pillowcase from his mother and fun socks made him comfortable enough to fall asleep anywhere. He leaves behind a legacy that is defined by love, solidarity and family.Tom was born in Fairmont, Minnesota on September 22, 1936, the son of Theodore (Ted) Fancher and Mildred (Taylor) Fancher. He loved the outdoors; swimming every chance he got, fishing and hunting. He excelled at both academics and athletics. He was an anchor on the offensive line of the Fairmont High football team, while achieving academic honors. He worked summers detasseling corn on the fertile farm fields of southern Minnesota. Upon graduation from Fairmont High School, Tom studied engineering as a cooperative student at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, alternately working semesters for Chevrolet and studying for a degree in Industrial Engineering that he received in August, 1958. While at GMI, he met the love of his life, Mary Alice Morgan and they were married on May 23, 1959.Tom was a manufacturing engineer at heart and rose to become a leader in his field; Supervisor of Methods Engineering then General Foreman of Chevrolet Foundry Grey Iron Plant in 1965. He was promoted to Chevrolet’s Corporate Office in Detroit where he was the Administrator of the Research and Development Process Engineering Department. In 1968 he was named Assistant Superintendent of Manufacturing and returned to Chevrolet’s Grey Iron plant. While working at Chevrolet, Tom was drafted into the Navy and served honorably, stationed at Great Lakes Naval base, the largest training station of the Navy. Ultimately, Tom became Superintendent of Manufacturing at Chevrolet Grey Iron plant in 1973 and continued his engineering career in management of iron and aluminum castings facilities throughout the north and southeast.An avid do-it-yourselfer, Tom showed his love to others by helping family and friends with various projects, meticulously putting his engineering skills and construction know how to good use. In 1987, Tom made a career change to join the family hardware business, Gill-Roy’s Hardware as the operator of the Peachtree City store. Tom was active in the Peachtree City community and a familiar, friendly face to all who encountered him. He truly enjoyed his time with family - golf with his boys, holiday gatherings and pride in his grandkids.Tom was passionate about helping others which showed in his countless volunteer hours. He was an original Board Member of Square Foot Ministry, a non-profit construction effort that provides healthy, affordable homes for individuals, families and organizations. Tom served from 2003-2018 and oversaw countless house builds including the Battered Women’s Shelter, the Fayette Samaritans, A Better Way homes, Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center, and Teen Challenge. Every summer he helped lead the ministry’s Impact Youth Program, teaching young people how to serve others through mission work around the surrounding communities.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Mary Alice Morgan Fancher; his children, Jeff (Sasha), Matt (Dianne), and Julie Jaeger (Brian); grandchildren, Morgan Fancher Morris (Owen); Courtney Fancher, Andrew Jaeger (Natalie), Zachary Jaeger, Maxwell Fancher, and Benjamin Fancher; great grandchildren Eleanor Jaeger and Montgomery Morris. Obituary Preview: Joann Simpkins Lightle, 89, died February 14 at Piedmont Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. She had lived most of her life in Albany, Georgia, and Gas City, Indiana.Born in Gas City on August 26, 1934, to John and Beulah Simpkins, Joann was affectionately referred to as “Sis” by those who knew her in Gas City. Her older brother Dave Simpkins gave her the nickname when she was young.Both sides of her family were farmers and factory workers. Her paternal grandfather David (wife Jennie McCann) Simpkins owned the local theater where she watched movies with her friends in the 1940s. Her maternal grandparents were Samuel and Margaret “Maggie” (Bauer) Troxell. She came of age influenced by a large and loving family – a family where storytelling and laughter permeated the air.She graduated from Gas City High School in 1952 where she was a cheerleader for the school’s basketball team. The following year she married Bill Lightle, also from Gas City.The couple had five children. One child, Faith, born January 31, 1956, died in infancy. Joann reared their children, supported her husband and worked briefly for a local box factory in Gas City. The family moved to Albany in 1966 after Bill Lightle accepted a job at the new aircraft factory Aerow Commander.While in Albany, Joann worked several years for the retail store House of Textiles, and the Lightle family regularly attended mass at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.By the late 1990s, Joann and Bill had moved to Griffin, Georgia, not far from their youngest daughter, Katy Sweat, who lived in Fayetteville. While in Griffin, she worked for ten years as a cook at Orrs Elementary School before retiring.After her husband died of cancer in 2007, Joann moved to Fayetteville where she helped care for her Sweat grandsons: Adam, Matt, and Tucker. Katy is married to Sam Sweat of Albany.In 2018 Joann moved to Senoia and lived with the Sweat family. At her new home, she often watched football games and Atlanta Braves baseball with her cocker spaniel, Thatch, by her side.She enjoyed reading World War II novels and vividly recalled listening to President Franklin Roosevelt on the radio. Her interest in history was rooted in her own experiences of living through the Great Depression and World War II.Her older brother Dave and younger sister Nina Mitchener preceded her in death. Her two younger brothers, John and Kevin Simpkins, live in Indiana today.She is survived by four children who all live in Georgia: Gail (husband Neal) Cone of Douglasville; Bill (wife Phyllis) Lightle of Fayetteville; Jim (wife Tricia) Lightle of Norcross; and Katy (husband Sam) Sweat of Senoia.She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Lance (wife Kim) of Cumming; Blake (wife Brittany) Cone of Kennesaw; Anna (husband Adrian) Sipos of Atlanta; David Lightle of Albany; Dylan Lightle of Atlanta; Sarah (husband Chris) Lippert of Roswell; Andrew Lightle of Atlanta; Adam Sweat of Atlanta; Matt (wife Rachel) of Norcross; and Tucker Sweat of Williamson.She is survived by two step-grandchildren: Sarah Lewis of Atlanta and Troy (wife Audrey) Lewis of Lawrenceville. Obituary Preview: Wayne James Steinbrenner, born on August 29, 1958, bid farewell to the world on February 10, 2024. At the age of 65, he left behind a legacy filled with fond memories and a playful spirit that will forever be cherished by his loved ones.Born in Brooklyn, New York, Wayne's life journey took him far and wide. As a child, Wayne, his friends and father made their own adventures: hiking to get lost in Forest Park, religiously exploring the New York World’s Fair, living at the observation decks of different airlines watching airplanes and mechanics; and even sneaking into the Eastern Airlines’ first class lounge to watch the blacked out local baseball games - a feat he and his father got away with ease, as long as they dressed nicely.As a teen and young adult, his time spent at Kennedy airport fed his love for aviation and anything space related. By the age of 14, Wayne was taking flying lessons (before even obtaining a learner’s permit to drive) and soloed at 16. His passions, encouraged by his father, led Wayne to study at NYC’s Aviation High School. He graduated in 1976 as a licensed FAA Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic.Starting as a part-time worker at Kennedy airport loading bags and cargo, he ran into a fellow graduate on the tarmac changing a DC-8 tire. Without hesitation, he applied for the same job and was hired the following week. By the age of 19, Wayne was working on big jets for Capital Airlines and eventually was certified for runups and taxi jets.In the Fall of 1979, Wayne was hired by Overseas National Airways and was sent to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was tasked to maintain ONA’s military jets while they transported Nigerian Muslim pilgrims to the annual Hajj in nearby Mecca. Wayne was fond of this part of his career and was honored to assist others on their religious journey.By 1981, Wayne was recalled by Capital, promoted to Lead Mechanic and transferred to LAX by 22. Soon Wayne would leave Capital for his first major airline, Western and over the next five years he worked for Pacific East Airlines, USAir and then back to Western just in time for their historical merger with Delta Air Lines. After working for four companies over the span of 6 years, countless memories and experiences gained, the time had come to embrace the next chapter of his life back in NYC’s LaGuardia Airport working for the best airline in the world.It was working for Delta where Wayne would meet the love of his life. During a commute back to LGA, a flight attendant accidentally spilled water down his back. He attempted to speak with her while deplaning and would continue to chase her all the way down to the altar in 1989. Jayne and Waynes’ love bloomed in the air and on land where they would eventually settle down close to the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta, Ga.Throughout his life, Wayne embraced his passion for mechanics as a loyal member of the Delta Airlines crew. From a jet engine mechanic to Maintenance Controller, his unparalleled expertise and unwavering dedication earned him respect among both colleagues and aircraft alike. However, Wayne's true joy came from spending time with his beloved family, who brought endless warmth to his heart.When he wasn't tinkering away with his many projects or being a devoted husband to his loving wife, Jayne, Wayne could be found indulging in his hobbies which included: tinkering with cars, live concerts, classic movies, goofy dancing, building models, historical study, world travel and following his daughters and wife wherever their trips would take them. Anyone who knew Wayne knew he also possessed an uncanny ability to engage anyone in conversation, priding himself on possessing vast knowledge about everything and nothing all at once.A jack of all trades, Wayne could fix everything and debate anything. His genuine enthusiasm and infectious laughter brightened the lives of those around him. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his daughters, Ava (Anthony) Steinbrenner and Rachel (William) Mast, whom he adored with every fiber of his being.Wayne's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled. Although his cousin Debra Dunn will forever hold a special place in her heart to keep his memory alive. During their time together they shared a love for golf, travel, and nature, particularly bird watching. One of the family favorites was vacationing on the family houseboat, on lake Cumberland in Kentucky, with daughters Julie and Chirstine, and their grandparents. It was there that Pat taught his girls to ski, fish, and drive a boat. He also loved introducing his two grandsons Nicholas and Jackson to his passion for hunting and fishing.While living in Johns Creek, Pat was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St Brigid Catholic Church. Pat was also a member of the Atlanta Athletic Club for over 30 years where he served on numerous committees to aid in the future development of the golf courses. He was also a long-time member of the Roswell Bass Club.Pat was the son of Ryan and Barbara Jenkins who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Wina Jenkins, daughters Julie Jenkins of Port Hueneme, CA and Christine (Curt)Johnson of Orlando, FL, and grandsons Nicholas and Jackson Heinecke of Orlando, FL. He married Ann Jordan of Staunton, Virginia in 1955.Bob had a long and distinguished career as a parish priest, building large congregations in several locations including Baltimore, Maryland, Kansas City, Missouri, Fairfield, Connecticut, Jacksonville, Florida, and ultimately returning to Maryland just a short distance from his hometown to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford.He loved to travel, visiting nearly every state, as well as trips to Europe and the Holy Land. He sought opportunities for parish exchanges allowing him to live for several months in northern Michigan, England, and New Zealand.He was an avid reader and history buff, loved the water and enjoyed sailing. His fondness for trains and steam engines was well known to his family and friends, and as a young father helped his son Jim create a railroad garden in the basement that brought hours of enjoyment.He loved a good NFL game and was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, even attending the first Super Bowl in 1967 between the Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. So, it is only fitting that his beloved Chiefs won the Super Bowl just days after he passed. It is assumed that he left us to attend the game from above.He and Ann had 2 children, Jim “Jeb” Bast (Jeanette) and Devon Pfeifer (Duane/”Duey”), 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. After Bob retired in 1989, they moved from Oxford, Md. to be close to their daughter Devon in Peachtree City, where he lived for the rest of his life.Ann passed away in 1999 from a sudden illness and Bob found the inner strength to flourish. He relished his role as “Boppa” with his grandchildren and in time made a full life for himself. He enjoyed the benefits of Peachtree City, walking the cart paths and marveling at the natural beauty of the area. A true people person, he was known to regularly strike up conversations with strangers in any setting. Anyone who met Bob was immediately touched by his incredible kindness and appreciative nature. He met and kept in touch with friends new and old, never adapting to a computer but hand-writing letters on a regular basisHis 100th birthday in April of last year was the “Big Day” that he had been looking forward to: A large celebration of his life with many friends, family, grandchildren (even his oldest great-grandchild), some who traveled from different states to be with him. Cheerful and ever friendly, he lived with a positive attitude and knew the power of a kind word. He never spoke ill of anyone, and always found the worth and beauty of people. He was happy to just “Be.”Bob’s ashes will be interred with his wife Ann’s in Oxford at The Church of the Holy Trinity in the Columbarium that overlooks the Tred Avon River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Fittingly it’s a beautiful spot on the water, not far from the house where he grew up. In honor of this wonderful man the family asks that no flowers or donations be sent. Instead, he would want all to practice kindness each and every day, and live life with gratitude … as he did!

She valued their company and, of course, the unconditional love she received from Luna and Toby.Darlene, age 67, is survived by her loving daughters, Emily, Ivy, and Amy Morris, who carry her warmth and kindness within them. He passed on his love of sports to his children and grandchildren, teaching them how to play and often coaching their teams.His love for his family was demonstrated by the faithfulness of his marriage to Shirley for seventy years. Their marriage was a great testimony to others of love for Christ and each other. He set a good and godly example for all with whom he came into contact. He gave wise counsel, could fix almost anything, and had a great sense of humor. His love for his family was demonstrated daily in the things he did to serve them.One of his greatest assets was his godly influence on others. For years he taught ten-year old boys in Sunday School, sharing the gospel and discipling them to serve the Lord loyally. Later in life he taught men in Sunday School and coached the church softball team, extending his influence to several generations of men. He was a faithful servant of the Lord, serving the church as a deacon, usher, committee member and in nearly any capacity where he was needed. Betty was born in Fairland, MD on May 30, 1932, the daughter of the late Edwin Howard and the late Mae (Duvall) Smith.She is also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Fred Donald Olsen; son Michael William Albright and daughter Gay Leigh (Albright) Cole; daughter in law Jennifer Dohl; brother Gerald Howard; aunts Edna (Duvall) Musgrove and Lucielle (Duvall) Creel and Uncle Charles Duvall.Betty is survived by a son, Don Olsen of Kansas City, KS; a grandson Michael Ulrich and his wife, Shannon of Senoia, Ga; great-grandchildren Joshua Ulrich and fiancée Chelsea Clark, Chelsea Davis and husband Drake, and Kayden Ulrich; great great-grandchildren Ava Ulrich, Brayden Zelanko, and Brinley Davis.While she was born and raised in Maryland, Don’s job moved them to Michigan, Minnesota, Kansas City and retirement to Pinehurst, NC and then on to Millsboro, DE. Many places have been home and Betty loved making new friends, playing golf and entertaining along the way.A celebration of life will be held privately.
