Obituary Preview: Cledis Odell Evans, 74, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away May 12th, 2024, at his beloved home. He was born January 8th, 1950, in Gardena, California, to Loy and Iva Lee Evans.
Cledis was a Christian and of the Methodist faith. For years he worked as a truck driver and later owned his own towing and recovery business. Cledis loved all things racing. From watching the races on TV every weekend to driving his own race car, he had a passion for it. Besides racing, Cledis enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the US, and listening to music at the Mountain View picking park. He adored his grandchildren and was proud of them all. Many people fail at finding a life partner at all. However, he was fortunate to have two that he loved and was very lucky to have. He was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
Cledis was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Iva Evans; loving wife of forty-nine years, Thelma Evens; one daughter, Antoinette Ann Evans; one brother, Tommy Evans; one step-son-in-law, Frank Kupillas.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of five years, Joyce Evans of the home; two children, Terry (Toby) Amos of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Cledis (Tracy) Evans Jr. of Charleston, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Ryan, Crystal, Jerrod, Lindsey, and Laci; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ian, Lucas, Malachi, Oliver, Stetson, Baylor, and Braxton; one step-daughter, Patricia Kupillas. Cledis is also survived by other extended family members and friends.

Obituary Preview: Daryl Duane Dague, 73, of Mountain View, passed away in his home on Monday, May 5, 2024. He was born in Riverside, California on July 28, 1950 the son of Darwin Dague and Elizabeth “Betty” Dague.
He was a 1968 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed bragging to his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, baseball, and watching nature play from the front porch of his cabin.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Sisco; father, Darwin Dague; mother, Betty Dague and brother, Tod Dague.
Daryl is survived by his son, Bret (Kelley); his grandchildren Levi and Ivey Sisco of Nashville, TN and Eden, Fisher, and Amelia Dague of Little Rock; brothers Bill (Ann) Dague and Ken (Virginia) Dague; sisters Pat Tuck and Diana Lowery and a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, in North Little Rock at The Summit Church.

Obituary Preview: Maggie Nadine Lee Fletcher Beare, 90, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away April 27th, 2024, peacefully, at the Blossoms Nursing Home. She was born September 14th, 1933, in Onia, Arkansas, to Albert Roscoe and Malissie Jane (Balentine) Lee.
Nadine was a loving mother, wife, grandma, and friend to all. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She loved being a Christian and loved Jesus with all her heart. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and worked hard. She caught chickens, worked at a nursing home, and was head cook at Timbo school. Nadine devoted her all to her family. She was known for her love for cooking by everyone who graced her doorstep. She was famous for her chocolate gravy, home cooked meals, and no bake cookies. Nadine leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion.
Nadine was preceded in death by two husbands, George Otis (Toad) Fletcher and Stanley Beare; one son, Ricky Fletcher; one grandson, Kenny Fletcher; parents, Roscoe and Malissie Lee. Nadine was also preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters of the Lee family.
Left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Mike (Jerri) Fletcher of Beebe, Arkansas, Otis Fletcher of Damascus, Arkansas, Randy (Darlene) Fletcher of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Jeff (Carol) Fletcher of Conway, Arkansas, Eric (Tess) Fletcher of Conway, Arkansas, Patty (Dwayne) Steele of Fairland, Oklahoma, and Lisa (Ronnie) Friddle of Alco, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Fletcher of Perryville, Arkansas. Nadine was blessed to be called grandma by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 4th, 2024 from 1:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the Mountain View Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Brother Gary Don Fletcher will officiate the service. Interment will take place at Pordue Cemetery, in Onia, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Jason Bell, Kavin Davis, Jeff Nading, David Fletcher, Brandon Harlan, and Ricky Stewart.
Honorary Pallbearers are Matthew Fletcher, Junior Barham, and Mackel Manning.

Louis Martin Smith - January 17, 1937 - April 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Louis Martin Smith, better known as "Martin" or "Popsie," of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on April 24, 2024. Martin succumbed to a heart attack after being airlifted to White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.
Martin was born on January 17, 1937, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Charles Parsons Smith Sr. and Gertrude Adams Smith. He is preceded in death by his aforementioned parents, a sister, Barbara Ann Smith, and brother Charles Smith Jr.
Martin graduated from Natchez High School and attended college. He joined the Army National Guard and later the Air National Guard. He was a retired Piping Draftsman. After retirement, his hobbies included tinkering with anything that had a motor, traveling, yard work, his many pipes, and his favorite, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martin loved people and never met a stranger.
Martin is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sharon. Together they shared 5 children: Son, Louis Martin Smith Jr., and wife Heidi of Colorado; daughter Melanie Null and husband Marvin of Texas; son James David Barron and wife Robbie of Louisiana; daughter Sandra Akin and husband JJ of Arkansas; son Joseph Barron and wife Shannon of Arkansas. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Barbara Ann Cass, Christopher Null, Jeffrey Null, Daniel, Brandon, and Kasey Barron, Jessica Alcantar, Kayla Long, Dakota Gray, Jessica Lewter, Jennifer Roberds, Kinley Eyerman, Cody Barron, and Ryan Barron, as well as 17 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Martin's body has been donated to science, and upon completion of the endeavors, will be cremated. A small remembrance will be planned at a later date.

Alan was the son of Willie and Kathleen Callahan, who have already passed away. He held a special place in his heart for his parents and often spoke fondly of the love and guidance they provided throughout his life. Their memories will forever be treasured by Alan and those who loved him.
Alan pursued his passions with enthusiasm. He had a keen eye for photography and captured countless beautiful moments through his lens. He also enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden.
Alan is survived by his two children, Jared Callahan (Kimberly) and Shanna Owens (Chris); one sister, Sandra Hunt; two nieces, Ashley Snellenberger (Colby) and Katherine Blake (Samuel). He was a proud grandfather to Rylee and Landon Callahan, who brought him immeasurable joy with another on the way, Christian Owens. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones including: Scotty Branscum, Archie Callahan, Clint Harness, James Ruth, and many more relatives and close friends.
We will always remember Alan for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, and warm smile. His legacy of love, compassion, and unforgettable memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Patty was a talented piano player, who loved children very much. She was very fond of all her nieces and nephews. Patty, though often faced with much pain and illness, endured with much perseverance and strong will. She enjoyed music, singing, and coloring.
Survivors include one sister, Ann Downs (Jimmy) of Batesville, and one brother, Caleb Harris (Ashley) of Cave City. Several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Harris, and her mother Teresa Gibbs Harris. One unborn child.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Faith Pentecostal Church on Sunday, April 21st, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
A private memorial service will be held on a later date.

Kathy was of the Catholic faith and member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, building custom cars and touring the country, cooking, making stained glass windows, and gardening. Kathy was an avid sewer. She had an amazing ability when it came to quilting, knitting, and crocheting. Kathy was a successful entrepreneur, from working in the food industry to working with her husband in business. Without a doubt, she was the best at whatever she was determined to do. Kathy always put her family first, above all she wanted them all to feel her love and to have joy and happiness forever in their lives. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of sixty years, William Bruce Winter, of the home; two children, William (Sirina) Winter of Mokelumne Hill, California and Sandra (Brian Bognuda) Brown of Ferndale, California; five siblings, Gordon (Marlene) Briggs, Judy (Lee) Ferdenhansen, Mike (Charmaine) Briggs, Tim (Marion) Briggs, and Debbie (Marty) Durkin; ten grandchildren, Jasmine, Dakota, Will, Johnny, Gabe, Gaige, Colton, Wolfric, Baron, and Otto; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Oliver, and Felix. Obituary Preview: Timothy Wayne Crafton, 50, of Onia, Arkansas, passed away April 12th, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. Timothy was born July 20th, 1973, in Detroit, Michigan, to Clay Milton and Linda Jean (Fuqua) Crafton.
Timothy was a Christian and of the Assembly of God faith. He faithfully attended the First Assembly of God (The Dome Church). More than anything, Timothy loved God with all his heart, and loved going to church. He served in the church working as the church soundman. Next to loving/serving God, Timothy unconditionally loved and adored his wife. Timothy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, working on computers, camping, listening to praise and worship music, playing disc golf, doing bonfires, and having a deep conversation. Timothy could spend hours talking about conspiracy theories. He was loved and appreciated by many people and will be greatly missed.

A skilled carpenter by profession, Douglas dedicated his life to creating and building with his hands. Beyond his career, he found joy in his hobbies of hunting and fishing, spending peaceful moments in nature doing what he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-one years, Sarah Brewer, his three children, Phillip and wife Sally Brewer, daughter Leslie Duck and daughter Sarah Jewel and husband Paul Schroyer. As well as his six cherished grandchildren Blaine and wife Abby Sowers, Trent Brewer, Alexis Schroyer, Winter Brewer, Brooklyn Everett and Aiden Brewer.
Douglas Wayne Brewer was preceded in death by his mother Effie Brewer, his father Ralph Brewer, his brothers Charles Brewer and Vaughn Brewer, and his sister Betty Stewart.
Douglas Wayne was a faithful Christian man who was also a member of First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas. Douglas was saved as a young boy when he attended a vacation bible school that was held there. In the later years of life, Douglas and his wife Sarah attended Timbo Valley Assembly of God in Timbo, Arkansas.
In honoring his memory, may we remember Douglas for his dedication to his craft, his love for the outdoors, and the warmth he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial to honor Douglas will be planned for a later date for all of his family and friends to celebrate his life.

Obituary Preview: Stephen Thomas Brown (formerly Vincent Almont Masoner), age 70, passed away at his home on March 9th, 2024.
Stephen was one of 10 siblings and had 4 step siblings. He grew up in Pine Bluff, AR where he enlisted in the Army in 1971, at the age of 17. He retired after 20 years of service. Stephen was stationed in Germany, twice, Japan and for a short time in Korea. When he retired in 1991, it was from the Seneca Army Depot in upstate NY. Stephen volunteered his time to the American Red Cross in Rochester, NY before moving back to Arkansas, in 2016.
Stephen is predeceased by his birth parents, Fernie & Minnie Masoner, his adoptive parents, Eva Lena & JT Brown, his sister Viola (Charlie Caldwell), brothers Troy & Darrell.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Kara Beach, sons Stephen Jr & Larry (Jackie), daughter Emily Cespedes-Brown (Graciel Juliarte); Brothers Lloyd (Virgina), Floyd, David, Eddie, Elmer “Andy”; sister Mary (Dr. Charles Spellman), several nieces, nephews and friends.

Shelby was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Pennington; parents, Shelby and Jessie Pennington; one infant son, Baby Pennington; two brothers, Autis Pennington and Buddy Pennington; one sister, Carolyn Massy.
Left to cherish his memories are his two children, Dale Marie Whitfield (Kenny) and Ricky Lee Pennington; one grandson, Bobby Allen Switzer (Ashley); three granddaughters, Krystal Marie Rose (Ross), Valerie Johnston (Derek), and Kelsea Fawn Pennington; four great-grandchildren, Kate Rose, Cameron Rose, Samson Johnston, and Eden Johnston. Shelby is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 9th, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm with funeral services immediately following. Services will be held at School Avenue Church of Christ, in Mountain View, Arkansas, with Brother Finis Brewer and Brother Junior Barham will officiate the service. Interment will take place at Big Springs Cemetery in Newnata, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Bobby Switzer, Darrell Denton, Wayne Denton, David Massey, Mike Pennington, and Allen Skimahorn.

This union brought four surviving children: Donna Jones-Smith (Bob) of Mountain View, Arkansas, Don Tino Jones (Donna) of Cabot, Arkansas, Tracye DeAnne Rauls of Scranton, Arkansas, and Gina Moss (John) of Calico Rock, Arkansas. Sissie also had three bonus daughters: Melissa Ray, Gail Kever, and Kami Oglesby, all of Scranton, Arkansas. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and Mimi. Her grandchildren are Joy Smith (Ambrose) of Bossier City, Louisiana, Rachel Day (BJ) of Mountain View, Arkansas, Rafe Rauls (Alyssa) of Herbine, Arkansas, Lauren Pearson Hart (John Paul) of Cabot, Arkansas, Jacqueline Jones of Cabot, Arkansas, Colby Rauls (Sesaley) of Herbine, Arkansas, Jonathan Moss (Cheslie) of Calico Rock, Arkansas, Jacob Moss (Kristina) of Gassville, Arkansas, and Hallie Moody (Nick) of Mountain View, Arkansas. Sissie is also survived by her brother, Jim Keith and his daughter, Lisa, of Benton, Arkansas, a host of great-grandchildren, and her loyal dog companion, Dillon.
Throughout her life, Sissie held many jobs, including secretary of PPG Printing Ink Company in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for many years, convenience store owner of DJ’s One Stop in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Innkeeper of The Inn at Mountain View, Department Manager for Walmart in Mountain View, Arkansas, owner of Brickshy’s Resort in Allison, Arkansas, and owner/operator of Backstreet Theater in Mountain View, Arkansas. She was known for her cooking and famous pies and she loved to go thrift store and yard sale shopping.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services immediately following. Services will be held at Timbo Valley Assembly of God with Brother Dave Campbell officiating. Interment will be at the Historical Cemetery of Mountain View.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Moss, Jonathan Moss, Colby Rauls, Rafe Rauls, Jude Rauls, Carl Smith, and Ethan Day.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ambrose Smith, BJ Day, Nick Moody, Steven “SJ” Moss, Samuel Moss, Easton Moody, Luka Moss, Tucker Rauls, Levi Day, Paul Thomas Hart, and William Hart.

Obituary Preview: George Spangler, Jr., 86, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away February 4th, 2024 in Mountain View, Arkansas. He was born July 3rd, 1937, to George and Hazel (Kincer) Spangler, in Mayking, Kentucky.
George was a salutatorian of his High School Senior Class. He attended Berea College where he met Eula Dean Causey. They soon married and moved to Aurora, IL before relocating to Hernando, MS where they raised their children. During their time in Hernando, George coached Little League Baseball, he was a Lions Club Member and volunteered in many community services.
George later retired from Alumax Extrusions (Hernando, MS) and after many trips to Mountain View, Arkansas, he fell in love with the music and began performing and he eventually made Mountain View their home. He became a member of The Mountain View Bluegrass Association, performed at the Jimmy Driftwood Music Barn, The Mountain View Folk Lore and the Ozark Folk Center. He loved his Church and serving the community.
George was a craftsman, and a musician but his love for Bluegrass and playing his banjo was his favorite. He is preceded in death by his parents George & Hazel Spangler and his brothers 1LT James Nelson Spangler and Robert Mitchell Spangler, of Mayking, KY
Surviving family includes his loving wife, Eula Spangler of Mountain View, AR; two brothers, Manuel Lee Spangler (Cris) of Bonney Lake, WA and Ronald Spangler (Donna) of Somerset, KY; two sisters, Zona Claytor of Mansfield, OH and Saranell Caudill (Danny) of Whitesburg, KY; three children, George Spangler III (Alicia) of Hernando, MS, James M. Spangler of Mountain View, AR, and Valerie A Spangler-King (Carl) of Ellijay, GA; two grandchildren, Daniel Allen King of Marietta, GA and Jonah Matthew King of Marietta, GA. George is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

She married Dual Autry September 4th, 1960, and they were married until his passing, December 28th, 1983.
Ernestine was a faithful Christian and of the Baptist faith. She worked in the church nursery. Her love for her Lord, her family, and others was evident in her words and actions. She loved gardening, flowers, fishing, hunting, sewing, coloring, and watching sunsets and hummingbirds. She was loved and appreciated by many people and will be greatly missed.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Hazel Qualls; one brother, Virgil Qualls; one sister, Jean Neel; loving husband, Dual Autry; one brother-in-law, Eldon Neel.

He enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles, being an all around car mechanic, and barbecuing/smoking food. He also loved to travel, and especially enjoyed going to Padre Island. Cochise was loved by many people and will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.

Marcus graduated from Newport High School where he played football and basketball. He attended the University of Central Arkansas then served in the US Army from 1967-69. He had a successful rodeo career riding saddle broncos, bare back broncs, and bulls. He was employed by Adams Pest Control until he started his own business, The Outsider. He retired in 2015 and enjoyed life at his home on the White River.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Gina also loved her boys and girls she worked with at Marshall Milling. Gina lived life to the fullest every day. She was always happy and you would always be greeted with the sweetest smile. Those who never knew her were missing out on an amazing blessing. When she loved, she did it with all her heart.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of almost twenty years, Charles Schmitt and her parents, Tommy and Margie "Rainbolt" Hafner. Gina is also survived by a host of other relatives and many friends.

Today, her family is carrying on the legacy of farming. She was loved and appreciated by many people and will be greatly missed.
