Daniel "Danny" L. Teeter - November 26, 1943 - April 09, 2024

Departed: 04/09/2024 (Batavia)
Obituary Preview: Daniel “Danny” L. Teeter, 80, of Batavia, died peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at AccentCare Hospice in Naperville, from complications of COPD. He was born November 26, 1943 in Hammond, Ind., the son of Molly (Ditmars) and Joseph Teeter. He was united in marriage to Mary (Mulvey) Teeter on April 8, 1989, in Batavia, Ill.
As a youngster, Danny loved being a river rat on the Fox River. He hunted, fished and camped on Challenge Dam Island with his trusted companion Skeeter Teeter, the family cocker spaniel. Danny spent a lot of time up in the tree house he built, even hoisting Skeeter up in a bucket to sleep with him. When his mother moved to Florida, Danny enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1961-63 and spent most of that time enjoying the sea. After the Navy, he met his first wife, Faye Carnley, in Winter Garden, Fla., and drove trucks with his father-in-law for local orange groves and gravel pits. He and Faye moved back to Illinois after a few years, had three children, but sadly divorced in the early 1970s. Faye then returned to Alabama to be closer to her family. Danny worked as a bartender for the old Frank’s Place on Batavia Ave. He eventually became the manager/bartender for 30 years at Batavia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1197, where he met his future wife Mary. He did some work with Parmarco, Batavia, and finished up his working career being a delivery driver for Suncast, Batavia. In the 1990’s Danny became a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding around the Fox Valley and taking road trips to Sturgis. He somehow got the nickname of “Cobra” and could be seen riding while wearing his red Beret. He and Mary made numerous summer trips to Musky Point Resort in Mercer, WI, for reunions with the Mulvey family. During one adventure, their cabin was overrun by mice!
There also were many trips to Lake James, Ind., where they joined their nephews boating all around the lake. Danny truly had a love of water. Danny and Mary made their home on Thoria Court in Batavia, where they lived together for 33 years, enjoying all their great neighbors, until Mary’s death in October of 2022. After that time Danny went to reside at Batavia Rehab and Health Center.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Molly and Joseph; his wife Mary; one sister, Carol Gorman Haines; two brothers, Gerald and Patrick Teeter; sister-in-law, Maureen (Mike) McMullen; and one niece, Kelly (Shields) Griesmann.
He is survived by his sister Sue (Rick) Griesmann of Tennessee; children, Patrick Teeter of Samson, AL, Michael (Kathy) Teeter of Hutto, Texas, and Stacey (Buck) Goodman of Samson, AL.; grandchildren, Leighanne (Chad) Crews, Michael (Emily) Teeter; Danny and Carson Teeter, Hutto, Texas, Chelsea (Brad) White of Bonifay, Fl; and great grandchildren, Levi and Wyatt White; Andon, Emma, Miles, and Silas Teeter; Mary, Rae and Rustin Crews all from Samson AL; many nieces and nephews.
Interment of both Danny and Mary Teeter will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 20, at West Batavia Cemetery on Route 31, Batavia Avenue, in Batavia. A celebration of life luncheon will follow interment at Batavia VFW Post 1197, 645 S. River St. (Route 25), Batavia, where family and friends are invited to attend to honor Danny and Mary.

Daniel Francis Roos - November 23, 1941 - April 08, 2024

Departed: 04/08/2024 (Batavia)
Obituary Preview: Daniel Francis Roos, who passed away in Geneva surrounded by family, was a man of great impact and immense loyalty. The youngest of five boys, he was born on November 23, 1941, in the Bellevue area of Pittsburgh and was married to Barbara Madej on July 5, 1980, in Chicago.
After attending Catholic Schools through high school, Dan's educational path led him to Wheeling Jesuit College in West Virginia. Here he pursued studies in English, setting the stage for a life of intellectual curiosity and exploration. He continued his education at the University of Maryland, obtaining his American Studies graduate degree, while simultaneously beginning his career in Washington DC. Here, Dan embarked on a diverse career path that reflected his multifaceted interests and commitment to public service, working in the U.S. Passport Office, the Library of Congress, and the Office of Economic Opportunity. He also served in the Army Reserves, which continued when he relocated to San Francisco.
Dan's dedication to social justice and community empowerment was reflected in his work at various planning and development agencies in the Bay Area, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development. His work administering community development block grants left an enduring mark on many local projects, shaping the landscape of the communities he served.
His serendipitous encounters with Barb on two separate Sierra Club trips blossomed into a fruitful partnership, culminating in a nearly forty-four-year marriage filled with shared adventures and experiences. They were fortunate to create many happy memories with their three children and their beautiful grandchildren.
After spending the first decade of their marriage in Oakland, CA, Dan and Barb moved the family to Glen Ellyn, IL to be closer to extended family. While navigating the balancing act of working parents, they became pillars of support for their children's activities, sports, and school events. Dan's passion for the arts led him to champion the construction of a new auditorium for Glenbard South High School, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations to enjoy.
During his time as the Chief Community Development Planner in Lake County, IL, Dan undertook various work projects, which benefited many vulnerable populations including neurodiverse adults, unhoused women and children, ex-offenders seeking job training programs, and seniors in need of housing.
Beyond his professional and community achievements, Dan’s many interests - jazz, outdoor adventuring, traveling, theatre, and other cultural pursuits - brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his life. He was a wonderful writer with a unique sense of humor. Dan also assisted in writing a grant for the maternity hospital his brother established in Chimbote, Peru. He volunteered at PADS homeless shelters and as a voter registrar. He later became a proud member of the Batavia Rotary Club after he and Barb relocated to North Aurora in 2021.
Dan was hardworking, loyal, and devoted to his family, friends, and his beloved cat Emilio. He enjoyed rooting for his favorite sports teams, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
As we bid farewell to Dan Roos, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, dedication, and love for his family. He was deeply loved, and his spirit will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Barb, his children; Simone (Aaron) Snook, Jocelyn (Rick) Kotrba, Matthew, grandchildren; Matilda Snook, Ralph Snook, Joan Kotrba, Julian Kotrba, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jules and Marie Roos, he is preceded in death by his brothers Ken, Dave, Jules, and Ralph.
Visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue Batavia, IL. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M.

Above all, the bond he shared with his loyal dog, Toby Harper, during their countless drives, remains Kurt’s absolute favorite pastime.
