William and Wilma (Bloomfield) Vansickle were married for 71 years when she passed from this Earth in August 2020. Wid’s greatest joy in life was sharing the name of Jesus to anyone and everyone he talked to. Although most didn’t understand when they were younger, his children have always remembered their father asking anyone he connected with if they were saved and if they knew where they were going when they died. If you had the pleasure of knowing Wid, you also knew he absolutely cherished his grand and great grandchildren. He loved when they came for a visit, sang him hymns & went on adventures in the buggy with him. Following closely behind his relationship with Christ, family meant everything to Wid. Just having the family together filled his heart with so much pride and happiness. He also enjoyed fishing, smoking a good cigar & his big leaf “chaw”. Although he will be greatly missed, his family finds unending comfort in knowing that Wid was ready to go to his eternal home. He was excited to see his wife, brothers, sisters and so many family members that had accepted salvation and gone before him.
Along with his parents & wife, Wilma, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Pitts; a granddaughter, Tina Neal; infant great grandchildren and great great grandson, Landon Neil; five brothers and two sisters.
Those who remain on Earth and remember his memories are: his kids, Pat (Dale) Stanley of Wheelersburg, OH, Karen Sue (Jim) Hafer of Portsmouth, OH, Danny Vansickle of South Shore, KY, Faye Vansickle of Centerpoint, IN, Kay (Tom) Riley, Jeff (Vickie) Vansickle, Bill (Rhonda) Vansickle and Tim (Emma) Vansickle all of South Shore, KY; brother, Melvin “Huddie” Vansickle of Medway, OH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his beloved squirrel dog Sally; friends & many other family members.

She was a member of the South Shore First United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and a firm believer in Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. In 1966, she was saved by the rebirth He spoke to Nicodemus about.

If she felt depression after the loss of her two “boys,” she did not let it show. She tried to comfort others who suffered similar losses. She always had a smile ready to send.
Her fellow church goers always enjoyed the testimonies she stood to give. She lived by the philosophy that if you can’t say something good about a person, then don’t say nothing.
Also preceding her in death were sisters Jolene Euton and Barbara Collinsworth; three brothers, Alen Mercer, Allard Mercer, and Dewey Mercer. Surviving, in addition to her husband, George Samuel (G. Sam) Piatt, whom she married July 30, 1954, in South Shore, Ky., and had been married to for 67 years and eight months at the time of her death, and a loving daughter, Cindy, and her husband, Dwight Cole of South Webster, Ohio, who were always there to help

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved; and by her good neighbors in Sand Hill, Ky.; as well as a host of cherished good friends she made everywhere she went.
Danny Mercer was a nephew who helped her in numerous ways, especially in the time of her illness.
She enjoyed vacations to Florida and Canada and playing Shanghai Rummy with special friends Fayne and Nancy Robinson.
Bonnie decided against working outside the home, saying she would rather stay home and raise their three children and support her husband, who worked for more than 30 years as a reporter for the Ashland, Ky., and the Portsmouth, Ohio daily newspapers.
Funeral services, conducted by Dr. Michael Rice and Pastor Jim Sherman, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at  South Shore First United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service.

Also surviving are his grandchildren-whom were his pride and joy, Farryn (Erik) Bussa of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Mathis of Nicholasville, Kentucky, William (Jessica) Hardin of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Jay Risner of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. Second to his beloved family, K.C.’s passion was his cattle and greenhouse. He was the third generation to carry on K.C. Hardin Greenhouse & Black Angus Cattle Farm established in 1918. He prided himself on hard work, family tradition, perseverance, and the cleanliness of his grounds and facility. He was always striving for perfection and instilled hard work and generosity into his family. He was a die hard Eastern Kentucky University and University of Kentucky fan. He was an avid hunter and spent much time hunting and fishing with his son, and brother in years past. K.C. still had a youthful heart. He was very proud and wore it all over his face. Anytime he spoke of his wife, children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren-he couldn’t hide his smile or happiness.
He frequently stated that there was no man more blessed than he was. He had Jesus in his heart and the most wonderful family- what more could a man ask for. As hard as it is to say goodbye, we know that bodies weaken and grow weary. The void he leaves can never be filled-but we have peace knowing that he was ready to go home to be with our Savior, Jesus, in heaven.
