Obituary Preview: With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Ruby Winnelle Marshall, on April 1, 2022.  Mom was born July 25, 1930, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to the late Arthur D. and Louie Norene Bowles.
On April 24, 1946, she married Charles Albert Marshall and embarked on a beautiful love story that endured for almost 75 years.  They were blessed with five children who are thankful to have been loved and raised by her.  Mom gave her heart to Christ as a young girl and spent her life running her race with perseverance, fixing her eyes on her Savior, the author and finisher of her faith.  From that foundation came Mom’s fierce love for Dad, her children, and everyone who was blessed to call her Memaw, Meme, sister, aunt, or friend.  Even in the last few days, when her strength was just about gone, she would reach out her hand to family and friends who came to visit and motion them closer just to remind them that she loved them.
Thank you, Mom, for the truth and testimony of your life.  We love you, and we will see you and Dad again soon.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory; children, Charles L. and Kimber Marshall of Missouri City, Texas, Connie and Jim Wood of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Carol and Ken Whitehead of Greenville, Texas, Brenda and Wes Henson of Winnsboro, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers and their spouses, Truman and Maggie Bowles, Lester and Linda Bowles and Jimmie Allen and Marilynn Bowles.

Edna May (Evans) McClain - August 26, 1931 - March 27, 2022

Departed: 03/27/2022 (Gun Barrel City)
Obituary Preview: Edna May (Evans) McClain was born August 26, 1931 in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Byron Milton Evans and Ruth Isabelle (Anderson) Angles. She married 1st Kenneth Ivan Coffee and 2nd Dale Arthur McClain and 3rd James Mack Seabolt.  The majority of her life was spent living single as she thoroughly enjoyed her independence.  She moved to Dallas, Texas in 1969, and moved to Cedar Creek Lake in Gun Barrel City, Texas in 1998 after retiring from the Federal Government, Department of Human & Health Services, Office for Civil Rights where she was honored with a Sustained Outstanding Performance Award in 1987 by the DHHS.
Edna took pleasure in clearing brush and beautifying her lake lots and her cabin at the lake right up until six months before her death.  She enjoyed crocheting and sold many of her projects, especially Indian dolls, to pay her way for vacationing back and forth from Texas and Ohio throughout the years.  Edna had several hobbies including collecting Jim Beam bottles, Avon bottles and U.S. mint presidential coins.  She was not particularly a sentimental person, however after her passing, a couple more passionate collections were discovered:  Edna had every driver’s license she had ever received throughout her seventy years of driving.  Also, amongst her sparse belongings was a huge storage box full of many years’ worth of greeting cards and letters that she had received throughout her lifetime.  The box was rightfully labelled “My Precious Memories” which explains her obsession for always checking the calendar to see if a friend or family member was having a birthday so that she could send them a greeting card.
Her main hobby was genealogy - searching ancestors for herself and for friends and family, thus she spent many hours in county courthouses, cemeteries and genealogical societies in both Ohio and Texas as well as many hours on the Internet after it first became available in the late ninety’s which she considered a blessing for serious genealogists.  She was a member of several Genealogical Societies and a charter member of “The Society of Civil War Families of Ohio”.
The older Edna got the more she loved babies and young children.  She never missed an opportunity to speak or play with them no matter where she was, whether at the doctor’s office or in a grocery store or wherever.  She thoroughly loved tending the nursery at her Baptist church and the children always returned her love.  She spent her last few months consistently watching custody court shows on television in order to look at “cute babies”, as she called them.
Edna fought a one-and-a-half-year battle with the last six months being long and hard from metastatic bone cancer originating from the bladder.  She eventually wound up at Canton Oaks Nursing Home, Canton, Texas on December 21, 2021 where after three months she died at age 90 on March 27, 2022.  She wanted to live to age 90 so that she could have the honor of being the longest living family member on both her maternal and paternal sides; she was very pleased when her wish came true.  She requested to be cremated at Moorhead Funeral Home, Gun Barrel City, Texas and to be laid to rest in Cheshire Cemetery, Delaware, Ohio beside her beloved (earth) Father.

Our love for him is immeasurable. He was a son, husband, daddy, grandpa, brother, Uncle Butch, friend, protector, comforter, and a constant source of hilarity. Sometimes his wisdom would surprise you with its simplicity. He was straightforward, never held back, quick to jump in and guard your back with ferocity. He did what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it. We can all be pretty sure where he is at this very moment. He is on an old pier called 'The Dirty Pelican’ with all of his loved ones who have gone before him. And all of us still here on this side of life, well, we're all waiting patiently to join the party, waiting to watch the sunset over the gulf with a beautiful red and orange glow, waiting to hear them all say, "Welcome home.”

Mona Marie Cullum - January 18, 1955 - March 01, 2022

Departed: 03/01/2022 (Gun Barrel City)
Obituary Preview: Mona Marie Cullum, 67, passed away on March 1, 2022.  She was born on January 18, 1955, in Van Zandt County, Texas, to parents Marlin Ray Martin and Joanne Baker Martin.
Mona was considered by many to be an eccentric woman who loved to laugh.  She was also never afraid to speak her mind.  Mona loved traveling, dancing, reading her Bible, and tanning.  Her favorite places to be were Galveston, Turner Falls, and Glen Rose.  In her younger years, Mona would eagerly host parties and cookouts and was considered “the fun mom” of the neighborhood.  She enjoyed playing pranks and not taking life too seriously.  Mona had an amazing “green thumb.”  She always had standing and hanging plants in the house and maintained a beautiful yard.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlights of her life.  Due to her love of dancing, Mona taught all of her grandchildren how to two-step by the time they could walk.  Nobody made her laugh the way her grandchildren could.
Although Mona left this world far too soon, God had her mansion ready.  She is fully healed and reunited with her hero and most favorite person, her daddy.  She is now able to dance without pain and smell all the beautiful yellow roses around her.  She will forever be missed.
She is survived by her children Roger Cullum, Jr. and wife Rita, Brandie Gage, Angela Nix, and Ashley Manley; grandchildren Brandon Gage, Matthew Gage, Jayden Vasquez, Isabella Case, Sarah Manley, Kacie Manley, Jordan Manley, Bailey Cullum, Ethan Cullum, Kaitlyn Richardson, Kegan Richardson, Gabriel Cullum, Hayden Bell, Phoenix Runyon, Kai Nix, Sabre Nix, and Theodore Nix; great-grandchildren Kayden Gage and Braylynn Gage; brother Marlin Ray Martin II and wife Linda; sister Jennifer Martin.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial will be held in honor of Mona on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Payne Springs Baptist Church, located at 9720 TX-198, Mabank, Texas  75156.  The family will be providing food and encourages casual attire.
