Dorothy Mae Ross - July 15, 1943 - March 22, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dorothy Mae Ross was a caring sister, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent months showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Dorothy came out a hero and stayed strong until the end. Her precious life transitioned into Heaven on March 22, 2022, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She was born to the late Mr. Nep and Luella Howard Ross, on July 15, 1943, in Red Leaf, AR. She attended school at Central and worked various jobs.  She accepted Christ as her savior at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Cater and later rejoined under Elder Caesar King.   Dorothy loved fishing, cooking and Sunday family dinners.  Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met.  Dorothy was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she opened her heart and her home too many family memories over the years and she will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by two infant sons Michael Smith and Johnny Cooper, her parents Nep and Luella Howard Ross, one Brother William Henry Ross, 7 sisters: Jelleaner Moore, Virginia Ford, Rosie Akins, Laura Bolden, Ruth Mcclam, Daphne Butler and Luella Ross and one great-great grandson Davyn Ellis.    She is survived by three daughters, Mary Smith, Dorothy Ramirez, and Carla Ross all of Lake Village, AR.  Three grandsons Chris Mathews (Melissa Mathew) of Hot Springs, AR, Patrick Cooper (Charleen Cooper) Albuquerque, New Mexico, Larry (Shana) Spratt of Conway, AR; Three Granddaughters; Shelia Cooper of Little Rock, AR, Donyecka Brown of Conway, AR, Sheena Cooper of Lake Village, AR, eleven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the New Hope M.B.C in Lake Village, AR.

Obituary Preview: Norman Ray Williams of Wilmot, AR was born to Joseph Williams and Vennie Mae Williams. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 16, 2022 at his residence.
Norman accepted Christ at an early age. He was a graduate of Wilmot High School. Norman received a basketball scholarship from the Shorter College in North Little Rock AR. After years living and working in Little Rock, Norman moved back to Wilmot a few years ago and re-dedicated his life to Christ under the leadership of Reverend William M Freeman, Jr. where he remained  a faithful member. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Vennie William, his brother Alton Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memories two sons: Norman Hughes (Laqwesha) of Crossett, AR and Shawn Williams of Little Rock, AR; one daughter Valco Williams of Little Rock, AR; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two brothers: Wilbert "Wayne" Collins (Peggy), and Thomas Williams (Bernadette); one sister: Patricia Williams (Stanley) and a host of family and friends.

Harold Lee Douglas - January 10, 1957 - March 14, 2022

Obituary Preview: Harold Lee Douglas was born on January 10, 1957 in Wilmar, AR to the late James and Patricia Douglas. He departed this life on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren, AR.
He attended school in San Francisco, CA, but later moved to Wilmar where he graduated in 1975. Shortly after graduation, Harold joined the United States Army and proudly served for 4 years in active duty. A few years after his enlistment was complete, Harold moved back to Wilmar to be closer to his mother and family. He began working with his late Uncle Leo Jackson, and proudly made an honest living in the world of carpentry. Besides working with his hands, Harold enjoyed fishing, taking long walks, collecting, and playing with his nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and his great- great nephew. He also enjoyed cooking, hanging with the “boys,” and being contrary and arguing with his baby sister, Ann. Harold was very helpful to anyone in the community and played an active role in the care of his mother, Johnnie Mae. He was proceeded in death by his father, Rev. James Douglas, maternal grandparents, Willie and Clara Carr and Jim Jackson, and his paternal grandparents, Willie Douglas and Lee Douglas Jefferson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Patricia “Johnnie Mae” Douglas of Wilmar, AR, 1 brother: Clark Douglas of L.os Angeles, CA, 3 sisters: Selesstine Winston (late Russell Winston) of Wilmar, AR, Katherine Hill of Castro Valley, CA, and Barbara (Clifford) Webb of Wilmar, AR, his “buddy,” Aunt Charlie Mae Jackson, and “bonus sister,” Willie Mae Miller both of Wilmar, AR. Harold also leaves behind a host of aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews, extended family, and friends. He was truly loved by many and will definitely be missed by all. Take your rest in the presence of the Lord Harold Lee Douglas.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday,  March 19, 2022 at the Wilmar Cemetery in Wilmar, AR.

Obituary Preview: Stephanie (Red) Newton was born in Warren, Arkansas September 09, 1953, and she departed this life on February 25, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was a member of First Baptist Church. As a child, she attended and graduated from the Hermitage school system where she played basketball and was nominated to be the 1st African American girl to serve as Homecoming maid before graduating in 1971.
For a short time, she pursued higher education, got married and divorced then worked a number of jobs, including Director of Community Action before relocating to Las Vegas, NV where she did some modeling. Although she remained in Las Vegas for a time, she ultimately returned to AR where her journey led her through a number of tumultuous terms. She married and divorced a 2nd time. Stephanie relocated again to Texas for a few years where she worked in the healthcare industry as a caregiver. She finally returned home to AR and obtained a lead role in the tomato industry for a short time, but her health issues caused her to retire.
Among other things, she always had a passion for shopping, fashion, estate sales, socializing, wagering, love, hanging out with her friends, and giving. She never met a stranger and would never concede to “getting off the stage” until her continued health decline prevented her from doing otherwise. Stephanie was loving and she was very loved by many. Preceded in death by her parents: Tom Neal and Willie Bea Neal; her siblings: Delvin Neal, Frances Jones, Mary Boyd, Shirley Lambert, and Jesse Ray (Nettie) Neal. She leaves to mourn her departure: her daughter, son n law and grandson: Marcina I Hyman (Cedric and Blake); God-son: Tyrell (“T”) Smith; her sibling: Helen Neal, Carolyn Neal, and Shirley Neal (Evin) Harding; her aunts: Betty West and Daisy Gardner; her sister n law: Nettie Neal; Sister friends: Mevelyn Jones and Annie Jean Noble Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other loved ones
Graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022at the El Bethel Cemetery in Hermitage, AR.

Obituary Preview: Will Starks, Jr. was born in Crossett, Arkansas on April 12, 1947 to Will Starks, Sr. and Lillie Alexander Starks.  Will was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Charles and Earlee Simpson.
As a child, Will united with Allison Chapel (later named Allen Temple) Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Crossett.  Will Stark, Jr. attended Thomas William Daniels Elementary and High School in Crossett, Arkansas.  Though he was not an official team member, Will loved to play football and was issued a football uniform.  On many days, you could find teenage Will on the playground throwing and catching the football all alone.
As an adult, Mr. Stark was employed by the Ashley County Sheltered Workshop in Crossett.  He loved wearing cowboy boots and a 10 gallon cowboy hat.  Will loved hanging out with his friends and riding his bicycle. On, February 11, 2022, God called the soul of Mr. Will Stark to rest.  Left to cherish his memory:  His legal guardian/cousin, Patricia Jacob Todd of Crossett, Arkansas and her children, Cottra Miles, Willie Smith, Jr., and Jacob Smith; cousin- John I. Harris of Dallas, Texas and other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Westview Cemetery.
Burial will follow in the Westveiw Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.

Her hobbies were fishing, celebrating the holidays with her family, her children, and her grandchildren, playing the lottery, and cooking. She loves making dressing (the best in town).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby McClain; 3 brothers: Albert Duff, Travis Duff, and Dennis Duff; one sister: Gloria Bell and 2 grandsons: Elijah Bernard Robertson and King La"Noris Robertson. He worked in the Steel Mill in Gary, IN for several years, and also worked as the Operations Manager for his brother’s Rental business. Searcy loved to dress and he definitely loved his hats. He enjoyed fishing and watching the news and boxing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and May Bell King-Jenkins; one daughter: Warkita Lynette Jenkins and one step-daughter: Brittney Williams; six brothers, Letell Jenkins, Berman Jenkins, Dorchester Jenkins, Willie Charles Jenkins, Jessie Jenkins, and Marvin Jenkins; and three sisters, May Ella Barnett, Virdell Jenkins, and Carivine Paskel.
