ELISA BELLANTUONO - October 19, 1933 - May 18, 2024

Departed: 05/18/2024 (Schaumburg)
Obituary Preview: Elisa Bellantuono
A Resident of Harwood Heights for 55 years.
Elisa Bellantuono, 90, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family May 18, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois. She left an incredible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
She was born October 19, 1933 in Mola di Bari, Italy, to the late Paolo and Pasqua Ranieri. Elisa’s love for flowers and gardening bloomed early and remained a passion throughout her life. She was known for her green thumb, able to take the smallest plants and flowers and nurture them into large beautiful plants. Elisa’s family cherish the memories they have of her in the kitchen and her creativity of making a feast out of nothing in a moment's notice.
It wasn't a party unless there was her delicious focaccia and fritatta. With a feisty “Mangia!” She welcomed all to her table, and if you left her house hungry that was your own fault! Her passion was feeding her family and sending them home with plenty of leftovers.
Her love of nature and animals were passed on with warm expression that she proudly shared and instilled in her children and grandchildren.
When she wasn’t gardening or cooking and baking with immense love for her family, she enjoyed reading, bible study, word search puzzles, knitting and crocheting.
Best of all, she loved to reminisce about wonderful memories with the family over the years. She would recall many family trips and special camping trips with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite was the trip to Canada to see the majestic and breathtaking wonder of Niagara Falls. Her greatest treasures were of her grandchildren and the joy of their excitement in carrying on family traditions.
Loving mother to Rosa (Anthony), Pasqua (Gerard), and Isabella (Richard); beloved grandmother to Anthony, Nicholas (Caitlyn), Jessica (Brandon), Gabrielle, Teodoro, Domenico, and Ramon; cherished sister to Pellegrino (Crescenza); loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; dear friend and neighbor to many. She is preceded in death by her husband Domenico, her son Vito, grandchildren Concepcion and Vito, and 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
Elisa’s spirit lives on in all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her love of life, family, and all things beautiful continue to inspire us as we carry her memory forward.
Per Elisa’s wishes and in accordance with the Jehovah Witness faith, services and interment are private.

CHARLOTTE SARNO - August 19, 1933 - February 04, 2024

Departed: 02/04/2024 (Schaumburg)
Obituary Preview: Charlotte Sarno A Resident of Schiller Park for 30 years
Visitation for Charlotte Sarno, 90, will be Thursday, February 8 from 4:00-8:00pm at Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Funeral service and interment private.
Born August 19, 1933 in Richlands, Virginia, Charlotte peacefully passed away February 4, 2024 surrounded by her loving family in Chicago, Illinois.
She lived a life full of love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Charlotte grew up in Virginia with her large, loving family. All her life she told stories of her late parents, Ely and Ellen Mabe Helbert, her brothers Raymond, Robert, and Reece Helbert, and her sister Mildred Grimmett. She was very proud of her family roots.
Charlotte moved to Chicago, and that’s where she met her late husband of over 50 years, Louis Sarno. Growing up, her family treasures the memory of them tending to their giant backyard garden, holidays hosted at their house, and playing card games. That was Charlotte’s favorite; every family gathering she came with her big tub of change ready to play “in-between”.
She will be fondly remembered for her delicious homecooked meals, particularly pastina, chocolate chip cookies, German chocolate cake, fried zucchini, and pizza.
Charlotte had a passion for collecting birdhouses and watching all the different types of birds visit her backyard. She also loved to watch the airplanes, and living right by O’Hare airport made that easy to do every few minutes or so. When she wasn’t watching the birds or airplanes, Charlotte passed the time putting together some of her favorite and most challenging puzzles.
Her family is comforted knowing she is now reunited with those that have predeceased her, and hopes she has all the Diet Coke, candy, and chips her heart desires.
