Obituary Preview: Barbara Ann Reynolds was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on October 20, 1933. She was one of four children born form the union of the late George and Eva (Cook) Reynolds Sr. She attended East Liverpool High School graduating with the class of 1951.
Barbara married the late Robert Melvin on October 7, 1952. The couple shared in the birth of two sons: Robert and David and cherished many years of marriage until his passing in 2016. Barbara was a wonderful homemaker caring for the needs of her husband and sons. She cherished visits with her children, but especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Barbara had a soft spot for animals, loving every one she laid her eyes upon, and always opened her own home to pets.
Barbara loved her Heavenly Father and for many years faithfully attended the Presbyterian of Calcutta Church. She appreciated the small things in life, spending time sitting outside listening to nature, playing cards with her family and friends, playing cards and board games with her husband, and most importantly visiting local garage sales.
Barbara Ann Melvin, age 85, passed away peacefully under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Medilodge of Monroe. In addition to her parents and her beloved husband; her passing was preceded by a son: David Melvin; one sister: Mary Jane Foulks; and two brothers: Joseph Reynolds and George Reynolds Jr. and the passing of her two dogs.
To cherish her memory, Barbara leaves her son: Robert (Donna) Melvin of Monroe, daughter-in-law: Jeanie Melvin of North Carolina, six grandchildren: Kristen (Jason) Lietaert of Monroe, Robert (Haley) Melvin of LaSalle, Sylvia (Drew) Morris of North Carolina, Jeanne (Frank) Sicuranza of North Carolina, Paul Melvin of West Virginia, and David Melvin of North Carolina; five great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Friends may gather at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Calcutta Cemetery, 13490 Old Fredericktown Road, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920, for a graveside service to celebrate the lives of Robert and Barbara. Obituary Preview: Noel Herbert Dentner was born on June 22, 1936 in Columbus, Ohio. He was one of eight children born from the union of his parents, the late Herbert and Marian (Steffen) Dentner. Noel was married to the late Elizabeth (Russell) Dentner from 1972 until her passing in 2016.
Noel earned his Masters’ Degree in education. He was a business Professor at Monroe County Community College and was a lifelong member of the Christian Science Church of Toledo, Ohio. Noel was past Chairman of the Library Board of Summerfield-Petersburg Community Library and past Vice-Chairman of the Commission on Aging for Monroe County.
Noel Herbert Dentner, age 83 of Petersburg, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at Northwest Ohio Hospice in Perrysburg, Ohio. In addition to his parents, his passing is preceded by his siblings: Richard, Jack, Keith, Patty and Faith.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his sisters: Karen and Hope, and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Frederick Paul Lietzke, age 82 of Temperance, went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, OH.
Fred was born on January 25, 1937 to the late Oswald and Clara (Jay) Lietzke in Adrian, MI. He has been married for over 62 years to Patricia (Studenka) Lietzke. They were married on April 27, 1957 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Monroe.
Fred enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and golfing. He loved to spend time at his cottage in Camden, MI with his loving wife Patricia and family. In the winter months, Fred and Pat would enjoy the warm weather in Palmetto, FL. One of Fred’s passions was restoring his 1933 Chevrolet Master truck.
He was a volunteer firefighter for Monroe Township for 19 years. Fred was the past Vice President of the Lake Diane Association in Camden, MI. He also used to own the County Inn Storage of Monroe. Fred worked as a Supervisor for over 30 years at General Motors Powertrain in Toledo, OH. He is going to be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Patricia Lietzke, daughter Jill Lietzke-Pryor, daughter in law Christina Lietzke, granddaughter Heather (Jeremy) Gibson and great grandchildren: Miah (Craig) Montri and Matthew Gibson.
He was preceded in death by son Frederick “Fritz” Lietzke Jr. and his siblings: Albert Lietzke, William Lietzke, Gertrude Costello and Karen Stoll.

Memorial donations in his memory can be made to the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the ALS foundation. This is a foundation that is near and dear to the Lietzke Family.

Delmar Moore - August 09, 1936 - July 25, 2019

Obituary Preview: Delmar Delano Moore was born on August 9, 1936 in Corbin, Kentucky. He was one of five children born from the union of the late Oris and Nell (Turner) Moore. At the age of four the family moved to Michigan, and Delmar attended Lincoln School.
Delmar married the former, Delorse Hall, on February 10, 1955 in LaFollette, Tennessee. They would be blessed with the birth of eight children, and Delmar would take employment with Ford Motor Company to support his family. He worked at the Monroe Stamping Plant for thirty-one years retiring in 1988.
Delmar loved spending time with his family. A member of the NRA; he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his son-in-law Jason. Delmar had a wonderful sense of humor, and was known for his joy of aggravating everyone around him just to get a smile.
His wife and children were always a top priority for Delmar, but his God was always first and foremost. As a young man he worked his way up through many positions in the Baptist Church. In 1975, he finally couldn’t resist his Lord any longer and answered the call to preach. He knew that “God’s Work” was his main responsibility and he often meditated to remain close to his Savior. Delmar took every opportunity to share the Gospel, often with complete strangers, and faithfully served his congregation at Grace Missionary Baptist Church for many years.
Reverend Delmar Delano Moore Sr., age 82 of Monroe went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by three brothers: Arnold, Ricky, and Alex Moore; sister: Helen Rice; children: Gypsie Williams and Steven Moore; and grandsons: Ray Bijarro and Nathanael Moore.
To cherish his memory, Delmar leaves a loving wife: Delorse; six children: Denise Moore, Deborah (Jason) Hill, Delmar Moore II, Dwayne Moore, Regina (Al) Barnett, and Nathan (Wendy) Moore; sister: Sandra (Bill) Bodenmiller; twenty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and is beloved four legged companions: Bear and Missy.

Obituary Preview: Margaret Faye Ferguson was born on May 17, 1925 in Tazewell, Tennessee. She was one of ten children born from the union of her parents: the late Joseph Ferguson and the late Myrtle (Arnold) Ferguson. She met and married the love of her life: A.J. Earl in May 8, 1944 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Together they enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 52 years until his passing on February 22, 1997. To support her family, she was employed by Monroe Public Schools where she worked as a Custodian for 18 years.
Margaret received her spiritual nourishment by attending Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and remained active in the church. She was also a member of its Senior Adult Group: The Joys and Monroe Senior Citizens.
She always remained active and spent countless hours going for walks and working meticulously on her yard, vegetable and flower gardens. She was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and enjoyed watching them play. She loved her family and remained close with all of her siblings and grew close with her nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. To know Margaret was to love her and she will be deeply missed.
Margaret Faye Earl, age 94 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Fountainview of Monroe. Her passing is preceded by her husband of 52 years: A.J. Earl; her brothers: Leo Ferguson, Esco Ferguson, Ward Ferguson, Ralph Ferguson, Kenneth Ferguson and Don Ferguson; and her sisters: Marie Welch and Mary Carmon.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her sister: Ellen (the late Lowell) Cook, several nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Lazette and the late Florence J. Larrow. She attended Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1949. She received her spiritual nourishment by attending Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe.
She met and married the love of her life: Raymond Eighmey on April 23, 1955 in Monroe, Michigan. They decided to start a family of their own and together were blessed with eight children. Doris worked hard to support her family by working as a bank teller at First National Security Bank for 20 years until retiring in 1992.
Doris was an independent woman who always knew how to have a good time. She was an avid UofM football fan and always enjoyed her vodka and tonic in the evening.
Above anything, Doris was a woman who loved her family. She was a loving wife and mother and absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her Great Grandaughters, Reagan,Ryleigh and Rowan were the light of her life. She will forever be remembered for her famous muskrat dinners. Her huge heart and loving nature are just a few things that will be deeply missed by her family and loved ones.
Doris Marie Eighmey, age 88 of Newport, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Her passing is preceded by her husband of 49 years: Raymond Eighmey; her stepchildren: Neil and Cheryl Eighmey; her brothers: Marvin Lazette, Clayton Lazette and Robert Lazette; and her sisters: Leola Balk, Eileen Duvall, Elizabeth “Betty” Brancheau, Millie Lieto and Patricia Amolsch.

Obituary Preview: Maria Bonny Burkey was born June 14, 1955 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of nine children born from the union of the late George W. Burkey and the late Sarah M. (Younglove) Burkey. Bonny met the love of her life, Wayne Hoscheit and they were married on March 7, 1974. They decided to start a family of their own and was blessed with three daughters.
Bonny grew up on a farm and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She enjoyed time spent outdoors fishing, doing yardwork and tending to her garden. She was a natural animal lover and enjoyed the companionship of her dog: Chewy; her many birds and her two guinea pigs whom she loved spoiling. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping for the best bargains and spent many hours adding to the collection of her dolls and countless precious items.
Above anything, Bonny cared deeply for her family. She made sure her husband and children were well taken care of and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren who knew her best as “Memaw.” Her loving nature and feisty personality are just a few things that will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her best.
Maria “Bonny” Bonny Hoscheit, age 63 of Huber Heights, OH and formerly of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at her home. In addition to her parents, her passing is preceded by her daughter: Roxann Underwood.

Loma Jewel Farner - August 12, 1924 - February 10, 2019

Obituary Preview: Loma Jewel Darnes was born on August 12, 1924 in Belltown, Tennessee. She was one of four children and only daughter born from the union of her parents: the late Robert L. Darnes and the late Birdie F. (Tilley) Darnes.
Loma married the love of her life, the late Edward Woodrow Farner, on January 8, 1938 in Mt. Isabel, Tennessee. From this union came the birth of seven children. Loma and Edward shared a beautiful life together and cherished their time spent with one another. He often called her “Puddin”. She cared deeply for her family and worked from home to make sure they were well taken care of.
Loma lived a simple life and enjoyed providing delicious meals for her family and friends. She was known to have some of the best banana pudding in town. Loma spent countless hours tending to her garden and enjoyed watching her beautiful flowers grow. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and shared her beautiful creations with those she loved.
Above anything, Loma enjoyed spending time with her family. She cherished moments with her grandchildren and will be forever remembered singing the song: “Go to sleepyhouse” to them as they fell asleep. Her optimistic nature always shown through as she was known for looking outside her window saying, “Come on Sunshine!!” Her kind soul and loving nature are just a few things that will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her best.
Loma Jewel Farner, age 94 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Fountain View of Monroe. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Edward Farner, her three children: Helen Faye Farner, Sharleen Ann Farner and Darrell Edward Farner; one brother: Ray Darnes; and her parents.
To cherish her memory, Loma leaves four children: Barbara (Carol) Stroupe, Edna (Sidney) Terwilliger, Gregory (the late Karen) Farner and Sheila (Randy) Cole; two brothers: Bobby Darnes and Larry (Jean) Darnes; twelve grandchildren: Adrian (Susan), April (Ken), Darren (Kendra), Jennifer, Erick, Shane(Helena), Billie Jo (Matt), Corey (Celine), Destry (Stephanie); Nathan, Joe and Shannon (Frank); seventeen great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

He was the oldest of two sons born from the union of his parents: Gary Bergum Sr. and Jacqueline (Chandonnet) Verran. He attended school at Jefferson High School and graduated with the class of 2000. He decided to further his education by taking some college courses but decided to work instead. He held numerous jobs in the food industry where he performed a variety of jobs.
Gary was a very generous person and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. It can be said that he often thought of others before thinking of himself. He had a charismatic nature about him making it very easy for him to make friends.
Above anything Gary loved his family and looked forward to time spent with them. His huge heart and loving nature are just a few things that will be deeply missed by his adoring family. There will forever be a void in the hearts of those closest to him.
Gary Alan Bergum Jr., age 36, of Newport, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at his home. His passing is preceded by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Obituary Preview: Marjorie Ann Schneider was born in Carleton, Michigan, on September 22, 1935. She was one of three children born to Ralph Schneider and Edith (Chopson) Schneider. Marjorie attended Carleton High School.
She would marry the love of her life, Raymond Wasilewski, on May 21st, 1955, at Saint Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation in Rockwood, Michigan. Together the couple would share in the birth of three daughters: Sandra, Debra, and Cynthia. Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother. She loved getting her family together especially hosting holidays and reunions. Marjorie was always attentive to others’ needs often being a second mother to her nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was hard working and community minded. For more than fifteen years she volunteered at The Monroe Hospital Gift Shop; wearing her green jacket with pride, the Monroe Thrift Shop, participated with the Auxillary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Carleton, and volunteered a short time at the Courthouse Information Desk.
Marjorie was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. Because of her kind, dependable, and forgiving nature she was well-liked by everyone and loved by most. Marjorie was active in her parish, St. Patrick Church making many lifelong friends with her willingness to help others.
Marjorie Ann Wasilewski, age 83, of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her beloved husband Raymond in 1996; two sisters: Theresa Byrd and Madeline Schneider; and grandson Joel Calus.

Norma married the love of her life: Al Knegendorf in 1944 and started a family of their own. She received her spiritual nourishment by attending Trinity Lutheran Church.
To fulfill her lifelong drive to help others, Norma completed the Mercy Nursing Program in Toledo, Ohio, and worked for 25 years as an LPN until retiring in 2001. During that time she worked at Wellspring Lutheran Services (The Lutheran Home) in Monroe for 14 years and the American Red Cross for 10 years. After retirement, she volunteered at Stewart Road Nursing Center for 4 years, Wellspring Lutheran Services for 7 years, Monroe Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years, and the Community Needs Meals & Blood Drives at Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was also an active member of the Lutheran Foster Children Organization in Detroit and had fostered 7 children over the course of 18 years. Her desire to help children who were in need of a safe place to call home was one that could not be surpassed. Her caring and empathetic nature will be forever missed by everyone around her.
Norma Lee Knegendorf, age 93, of Monroe, escaping the limitations of her earthly body, passed into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at ProMedica Flower Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Her passing was preceded by her husband of 52 years: Al Knegendorf; her grandson: Tyler Knegendorf; her foster son: Alan Pfund and her nine brothers and sisters.

John was a very generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never expected anything in return. He was highly intelligent and a natural handy man and jack of all trades who could repair anything and always up for the task at hand.
Above anything, John was a family man. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather and a great “big brother” to his sisters. His generous nature and kind heart will be missed by all who knew him.

Amanda had a kind and loving soul and touched the lives of every person she came in to contact with. She always was helping someone who needed her. To know Amanda was to love her, and she will be dearly missed by many.

Her favorite pastime was playing her hand at Cashwords scratch off lottery tickets, never discarding a single one. In her free time, Barbara also enjoyed knitting bears.

For twenty years, Mary was employed by the Monroe Kmart store. She served as a cashier for many years. In 2010, due to declining health she retired. Even with this decline she kept a positive spin on life and was thankful for all that she had. Mary loved to cook and entertain. She was the family jokester and typically the loudest in the room, all of which made her the life of the party. She wasn’t afraid of a little confrontation and she was well-known for her catch phrase, “Say it to my Face”.
Mary loved music and her interests were at the opposite ends of the spectrum enjoying the likes of Tu Pac and Gospel. Mary loved her son Remi and he loved her too. She also enjoyed time spent with her sisters and family.

For more than twenty years she worked as the Manager for the Perky Pantry. It was here that she developed many lifelong relationships. In 1985, Anna earned her diploma from Dundee Community Schools after attending night school. Anna was well-known for her sarcasm and humor. She handled life and any challenge straight on, and she was never afraid to speak her mind.
Anna enjoyed cooking. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and often made treats for them earning her the nickname “Cookie Grandma”. Anna loved playing cards and working on ceramics. In her free time she found great relaxation in completing oil paintings, and she was quite the talented landscape painter.
Anna Mae Heisler, age 69, of Morenci formerly of Dundee passed away on Monday, September 4, 2018 at home after a brief battle with cancer. Her beloved family was at her side and she had been under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. In addition to her parents and her husband: David on October 17, 2004 her passing was preceded by two brothers: Elwood Sherrard and Hugh Sherrard; and two sisters: Katherine McKenzie and an infant baby sister.

Obituary Preview: Julia Bernadette Zolensky was born on June 23, 1927 in Whitsett, Pennsylvania. She was the sixth of eight children born to her parents, the late Peter and Rose (Moskel) Zolensky.
Julia married her childhood sweetheart, Andrew Switanek, on April 3, 1947. From this union came the birth of five children. Julia’s family came first and she cared for the needs of her husband and children as a homemaker. She proudly raised her children in a Catholic home, where they regularly attended worship at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Newport, where Julia was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. The couple was honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a plaque and blessing from Pope John Paul II.
Being proud of her Polish heritage, Julia enjoyed listening to music and dancing, especially the Polka. She was a wonderful hostess and always enjoyed entertaining guests. Visitors to the Switanek home could count on the table being set and a wonderful meal being prepared. She loved celebrating every holiday, with Easter being her favorite.
Julia dearly loved her friends and she looked forward to her weekly Thursday rendezvous with the girls.
Julia, age 90, of Newport passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the IHM Sisters Healthcare Center. Her husband Andrew preceded her in death in 1998.

He was active in the community and was proud to belong to the American Legion Post 40 serving as a District Chaplain, VP of the Monroe Moose Lodge 884, served on the Board of Directors for St. Charles Parish Credit Union, a member of the DAV and 40-8. He also volunteered with the American Red Cross and Special Olympics whenever he could.
Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed time spent camping, fishing and hunting. He loved to golf, bowl on leagues at Nortel Lanes and gamble at the casino. He loved to travel and went many places throughout his life.
Above all, he was a family man and his grandchildren were his “pride and joy”. Jim had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He was loved and will be missed by many.
James Frank Toye, age 69, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 6:48 am at the VA Ann Arbor Health Care System. He is preceded in death by his brother Denis Jr., his sister Patricia Bayn and his parents.
