Cheryol is survived by her daughter, Lora Bowen of Herrin; 2 granddaughters, Brittney Williams & Adam Graff of Ava, IL and Amanda & John Haught of Dongola, IL; step-daughter, Joanna & Jesse Perez of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Andrea Williams & Ethan Earl of West Frankfort, IL, Madison Williams of Herrin, IL, Keegan Williams of Herrin, Sophia Haught of Dongola, Owen Haught of Dongola and numerous step-grandchildren; great-great granddaughter, Olyvia Glenn Earl of West Frankfort and numerous great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara worked as a medical transcriptionist in Herrin, St. Louis, and Carbondale.
Barbara was united in marriage with Dr. Henry R. Manfredini on August 30, 1952 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2022.
She is survived by her children, Steve (Jenni) Manfredini of Lafayette, CO, Marianne (Frank) Schultz of Aurora, CO, Janise (Chris) Phillips of Elizabethtown, John H. (Diana Davison) Manfredini of Carbondale, Paul (Angel) Manfredini of Bountiful, UT; seven grandchildren, Meghan (Rob) Cerato, Lindsey Phillips, Nick (Lupita) Manfredini, Anna Phillips, Gianna (Devin) Hunter, Adam Schultz, Henry Manfredini; and a sister-in-law, Carol Murray of Herrin.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, John H. “Jack” Murray.

Janet was born May 18, 1943 in Ferges, IL to William & Fleeta (Sanders) Patterson.
Janet married Carroll Gentry on April 6, 1960 in Herrin, IL. He survives her at their home in Herrin.
She is also survived by her son, Michael Gentry of Herrin and two canine companions, Daisey & Milo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, LaCleeta Richmond; and three brothers, Herschel Patterson, Dr. William Patterson, and John Patterson.

Eleanor was born in Herrin, IL on December 27, 1937 to Charles and Estella (Marshall) Scerena. She attended Herrin public schools and graduated high school in 1955. After high school, she was a bookkeeper at Lymar Hotel, Kerber, Eck, & Braeckel, and Bank of Herrin prior to retiring in 2001. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and belonged to the Daughters of Mary. After retiring, she volunteered at Herrin Hospital and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church; Eleanor also spent majority of her time with her grandkids, traveling, reading, and completing crossword puzzles and word searches.
Eleanor married Donald Quaglia on November 24, 1956 in Herrin, IL at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church by Msgr. Robert DeGasperi. Eleanor and Donald had been married for 67 loving years.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Quaglia of Springfield, IL formerly of Herrin; son, David Quaglia and his wife Linda of Herrin; daughter, Lisa Spezia and her husband Todd of Danville; daughter, Amy Holloway and her husband Mark of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Nick Spezia of Washington D.C., Jordan Spezia of Fairmount, Lucas Spezia of Chicago, Claire Holloway of Indianapolis, IN, and Cade Holloway of Chicago; 4 great grandchildren, Greyson Spezia, Sofia Spezia, Dominic Spezia, and Jameson Spezia all of Fairmount; sister-in-law, Joanne Quaglia of Port Orange, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Eleanor’s prized possession grand-dog Lola Beans. Eleanor knew no stranger and was a friend to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and brother-in-law, Eugenia Hutchison and Romilda & Issac Hundley; brother, Wendell Scerena; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Louis & Pauline Quaglia; brother-in-law, Ed Quaglia; and infant sister-in-law, Gloria Quaglia.

Loudene retired after 20 years as the manager of Midwest Brush, a division of Diagraph-Bradley.
Loudene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Herrin, where she taught 3 year olds for 25 years. She loved to travel, taught AGAPE Ladies Sunday School Class, was the Assistant Director of the Senior One Adult Department, member of the Jean Shepard Mission Group, a former Girl Scout leader with the Shagbark Council, volunteered for the Herrin Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and member of the Red Hats. She also attended many Bible study classes and served on many committees at the church.
Loudene was born January 12, 1930 in Herrin, IL to Thomas Mann and Laura Mae (Walker) Propes.
Surviving are her children, Mike and Paula McSpadden of Benston Grove, TX, Pat and Fred Calcaterra of Herrin, Valerie and Larry Allen of Eldorado, Lori and Billy Mercer of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren, Ben Calcaterra of Herrin, Chuck and Denise McSpadden of Mattoon, Sarah Ueleke of Mattoon, Ricky Ward of West Frankfort and Tate Mercer of Nashville, TN; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Cooper, and Chloe Calcaterra of Herrin, and Calin and Micah Ueleke of Mattoon, Ricky Joe Ward of West Frankfort, IL, Caylie Kielhorn and Markas Kielhorn of Mattoon, IL; two nieces, Terri Wolf of Phoenix, AZ and Heidi Wolf of Colorado; nephew, Bruce Wolf and his wife, Tonya of South Dakota; several nieces and nephews; close friends, Nancy Garavalia of Herrin and Linda Payne of Herrin and her beloved pet dog, Toby. Obituary Preview: Thelma Imogene (Anderson) Harris, 94, passed peacefully at her home on April 17, 2024. She was born May 1, 1929 to Reva and Everett Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert Harris; her parents; brothers, Ralph Waldo Anderson and James Everett Anderson and his wife, Afton; niece, Cheryl McEvers and her husband, Terry; nephew Jimmy Dean Anderson; and great niece, Shellianne McEvers.
Imogene is survived by her sister, Norma Sims; brother, Reverend Jerry Anderson; nephews, Jack Anderson and Darrin Kerr; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She attended the one room Whittier grade school, Herrin grade schools, and graduated from Herrin High School in 1946.
Imogene worked at the Smoler Brothers Dress factory for eight years and the Herrin Hospital which she retired from after 35 years. She loved her God and her family. She and her beloved husband traveled to all 50 states and 10 foreign countries. She was a member of the Interfaith Women Aglow group, Herrin Hospital Retirees and Shawnee Quilters Guild.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, IL with Rev. Jason McKinnies and Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Barbara was a homemaker, former employee of Norge, GTE, and Hallmark Cards.
Barbara attended Lone Oak Baptist Church and was a former resident of Herrin and the Heritage Place Community. She was a resident of Villas of Hollybrook Assisted Living community in Mt. Carmel, IL before her death. She enjoyed oil painting and won several awards and recognition for her art. She passed this artistic talent on to her oldest grandson. She was proud of her grandchildren’s endeavors and a frequent attender of their sports & other activities. She will be remembered for her friendly and engaging personality. She loved people and never met a stranger. Her smile and laugh will be deeply missed by her loving family.
Barbara was born July 25, 1940 in Broughton, IL to Chelsea & Alma Fern (Gwaltney) Jones.
Barbara married David “Gary” Butler September 12, 1959 in Eldorado, IL. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2002.

Gerry married Clarence “C. D.” May on March 5, 1995 in Community of Faith Church by Rev. Todd Greiner in Marion, IL. He preceded her in death on February 3, 2022.
She is survived by her step children, Juli Rushing of Energy, IL, Mark E. May of Herrin, IL, and Lisa & Scott Warren of Herrin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews to include, Karen & Ed Wasielewski of Plainsfield, IL, Kathy Deddo of Wisconsin, and Rose & Rocky Price of Creal Springs, IL.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Esther Louise Ruphard; husband; parents; and many siblings.

Edward L. "Ed" West - December 03, 1946 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: Edward L. West, 77, of Herrin, ran into the arms of his Savior—boldly, fearlessly, and surrounded by his loving family—Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Ed retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1999 as an Engineering Technician.
Ed was proud to be a member of the Herrin First United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees over the years. He was a member of the Herrin Elk’s Lodge# 1146 and was a former member of the Herrin Jaycees. Ed was an avid fan and follower of Carterville Crush 10U baseball, could often be found jamming to 50’s on 5 while driving, and never met a donut he didn’t like (with peanut butter, of course!). He loved his family immeasurably—especially his great grandsons who were the light of his life. Most importantly, he had a deep-rooted faith in Jesus that never waivered no matter the storms he faced.
Ed was born December 3, 1946 in Herrin, IL to Roy & Alice (Wardle) West.
Ed married Mary Ann Free on June 5, 1965 at the Herrin First United Methodist Church. She survives him at their home in Herrin.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Sue & Tom Hatley of Herrin and Palmetto, FL; three grandchildren, Tiffany Lynne & Blake Dobraski of Johnston City, IL, Mary Lynne Hatley & Matt Lang of Carterville, IL, and Jordan Troy Hatley of Overland Park, KS; three great grandchildren, Bennett Dobraski, Myles Dobraski, and Maddox Lang; special cousin, Debbie Castellano; canine companion, Reece; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Lynne West; parents; and sisters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Finney, Carolyn Sue West and Gladys Lucille Colp.
Ed was many things to many people—loving husband, doting dad, proud PawPaw, uncle, cousin, faithful friend. He will be sorely missed and revered forever, but we find peace knowing that he’s celebrating on streets of gold and we will meet him again in heaven.

Gwen is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike & Colette Arnold of Herrin, IL and Brad & Tracey Arnold of rural Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Bryan Arnold, Krysta & Josh Lundquist, Zachary Arnold & Leah Collins, and Meghann Arnold; great grandson, Cillian Arnold; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Bearden; parents; sister, Armilda Bradshaw; and brother, Kenneth Bradshaw.

Doris was a member of the Whiteash Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, IL.
Doris was born May 12, 1946 the daughter of Lola E. Grant.
Doris married Gary G. Frey on May 11, 1990 in Paducah, KY. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2010.
She is survived by her several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, and grandmother, Mamie (Sanders) Grant.

Gary was a member of The River Church in Pittsburg, IL. He coached many years for the Herrin Jr. Ball League. Whether you knew him from hunting, goose calls or just “a friend”; you know how incredibly special this man was! Gary was born January 6, 1963 in Herrin, IL to Dennis and Margie (Myers) McCree.
Gary married Trudy K. Meloan on December 31, 1981 in Energy, IL. She survives him in their home in Energy.
He is also survived by his son, Christopher McCree of Herrin; daughter, Ashleigh McCree of Herrin; three grandchildren, Aleigha Brown, Cameron Robison, and Toryn Joiner; father and mother, Dennis & Margie McCree of Energy; brother, Allen & Beth McCree of Crab Orchard; sister, Cheryl McCree & Paul Henry of Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

All the grandkids called him Papa George. To know George was to love him.
George was born on August 28, 1964 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Ronald and Fay (Knight) Lee.
George married the love of his life Sharon White on October 12, 2016 in Vermont. She survives him in their home in Carbondale.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lasko of Bush, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Nick & Dawn Lasko of Zeigler, IL; mother, Patsy Black of Spring Lake, MI; two grandsons, Aaron Pyles and Zachary Wallace; four great grandchildren, Journey Pyles, Syndney Pyles, Skylynn Ingersol, and Paisley Wallace; three sisters, Debbie Lasko Burnam, Donna Lewandowski, and Judy Thies; brother and sister-in-law, Paul & Dang Lasko; and several nieces and nephews.
