Theresa Dianne Epperson - September 04, 1956 - April 20, 2024

Departed: 04/20/2024 (Jackson)
Obituary Preview: Theresa “Dianne” Epperson (September 4, 1956- April 20, 2024) lived a beautiful and vibrant life. A woman, who when you are in her presence, she will light up the room, with her amazing sense of humor. Her wit was razor sharp. She is known to say whatever came to her mind. She valued loyalty, honesty, and authenticity. She is kind, generous and compassionate. Dianne has always been there for people through their difficult times. She would try to bring hope any way she could.
Dianne was born in Jackson, TN, to the late James Epperson, Sr. and Mary (Alonzo) Bommer, where she lived out her entire life.
She was blessed to have birthed four children who loved her dearly: Pastor Maurica (Pastor Ron) Edwards, Jimmie (Camilla) Beard, III, Trimond (Jhay-Fiancé) Epperson and Timond (John) Williams. “Mrs. D” is what she was passionately known as, by her sons and daughter-in-love.
She was also known as “GaGa”, to twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren: Ronald Edwards Jr., Q’landus Clark, Amyah Clark, Rhema Edwards, Judah Williams, Hannah Williams, Josiah Williams, Jonathan Williams, Zion Williams, Zoey Williams, Ta’Livia Ellison, Jimmie Beard IV, Clayton Clark, Antonio Clark, Kolson Edwards and Isaiah Clark. She loved to brag about them, and show pictures to anyone that was interested. She was also blessed to be able to a share her birthday with her youngest grandson, Jimmie IV.
She has three deceased siblings: Walter Lee Epperson, Valerie Epperson and Gwendolyn House. She was survived by six siblings: Sylvia (Dwight) Lee, Linda (Jimmy) Brown, Janice (Readie) DePriest, Richard (Laura) Epperson, Anthony (LaJuana) Epperson, Lakeisha (Ernest) Epperson-Chapman and James Epperson, Jr.
Dianne has always had a heart to serve. She found happiness, and joy in assisting others, and serving people. She spent the majority of her career working in the Jackson Madison County School System, as a food school service employee. She also loved her time as a Resident Hall Director at Lane College, where a lot of the college girls saw her as a mother figure. Another true passion she had was braiding hair. This was a gift she utilized for many years and passed on to her daughters and granddaughter.
Her relationship with the Lord was sincere and real. She loved to hear sound preaching, and good gospel music. As a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, you would find her helping in different ministries. She freely expressed how she felt about God. We would often hear her say her two famous phrases, “You shall know what to say” and “It could’ve went another way!” Amen. Dianne loved a good time, and was great company to have around. At family gatherings, you would find her dominating at the game of Spades. She loved to cook, and would always cook enough for an army, even when she lived alone. You could call her up any day, and she’s always got something funny to say. She loved some fried chicken, but it had to be cooked just right. She always liked to look her best. He hair was always done, nails polished, lipstick on, and matching accessories. She and her grandkids would often do a “fit check.”
After retiring, you could find her still trying to keep busy, by visiting friends and family often. She also loved horror movies, Lifetime Movies, crime TV shows and music. She would often say that being able to spend time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest blessing.
To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement. She is one of a kind, and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed. Yet, we found comfort in knowing that, she is in the presence of our Lord.

Julius McHaney - March 20, 1943 - April 20, 2024

Departed: 04/20/2024 (Jackson)
Obituary Preview: Julius E. McHaney was born on February 26, 1928, as the eighth child among nine children to Jarmon and Ada Croom-McHaney in Henderson, TN, which is located in Chester County. Julius is the sole survivor among the nine. The individuals who preceded him in death, in birth order, are: Jennie, Robert, Carroll, Gladys, Croom, Raul, Bertha, and Howard.
Julius and his siblings were surrounded with an abundance of love from their family, which was infused with a strong work ethic, unique problem-solving skills, and creativity. These remarkable traits were inherited from their father, Jarmon; their grandfather, affectionately known as “Grandpa Bob”; and their uncle, Lonnie—the McHaney men. Across generations, the family, including children, nephews, and nieces, became well-acquainted with the McHaney steadfastness, often playfully referred to as “stubbornness”. Amidst it all, the love emanating from these forementioned men and women far surpassed even the concept of tough love.
As a child of the 1920s, Julius was fortunate to receive his education in the public schools of Chester County, where he was born and raised in a rural area. His mother, Ada Croom-McHaney, and his aunt, Bertha Croom-Davy, were both dedicated public school teachers. Together with their mother, Parthenia Croom, they ensured that Julius and his siblings received not only a proper education, but also a solid spiritual foundation.
Julius was nurtured with a profound faith in God. Jarmon and Ada diligently followed and instructed their children in the teachings of the Bible, which wisely advises: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Julius was baptized at an early age in Henderson, TN, specifically at the Oak Grove Church of Christ. Later, he transferred his membership to the Middleton & Payne Church of Christ, which is now known as the East Jackson Church of Christ.
Julius followed in his father’s footsteps, venturing into the concrete and masonry industry. As a dedicated worker, he contributed to the construction of highways, roads, and communities across the Mid-South and Southeastern regions of America. His professional journey included roles with Foster Creighton Construction, Boyer & Johnson, Harris Construction, and McHaney Construction (1970-2000). In addition to his formal work, Julius also took on side jobs independently. His expertise extended beyond construction; he was a Master Masonry Worker and an enthusiastic gardener. Furthermore, he adhered to the wisdom found in the Farmers’ Almanac.
Julius met, fell in love with, and married Parthenia Sherrell McHaney, who preceded him in death. Their union endured for 72 years, until her passing. Additionally, three of the couple’s children also preceded him in death: Zander Lloyd McHaney, Dennis Lamar McHaney, and Ellis Wayne McHaney.
Among those left to mourn and cherish a lifetime of memories are their living children: Edward Julius (Emma), Linda McHaney-Boyd, Valencia McHaney-Bell, Gregory Lee McHaney, and Nichole McHaney-Hambrick. No matter how you felt when you arrived on his doorstep, you would always leave with a laugh, a smile, a story in mind, and a full belly while smelling of hickory smoke. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
