Obituary Preview: Dwight William Henry Perkins Sr. was born to the late Margaret (Richards) Perkins and Harold Perkins on September 21, 1945, in Seaford, Delaware. God granted Dwight Sr. rest on April 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was 78.
Dwight Sr. was educated in the Seaford School System and graduated from William C. Jason High School. In his early 20’s he began working for Young’s Funeral Home until he was employed at Justin Fiberglass Tanks from 1985 until their closing in 2006.
Dwight Sr. was a loving and supportive man that enjoyed quality time and family. He was an avid reader who understood knowledge was the key. When he needed a quiet place, you could find Dwight Sr. casting his fishing line. He was also well versed in sports from basketball to NASCAR. While Dwight Sr. may have worn any team's jersey, he was a devoted Baltimore Raven fan. He will truly be missed.
Dwight Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Harold Perkins; wife, Monica Perkins; son, Dwight Perkins Jr.; two brothers, Harold Perkins Jr. and Donald Perkins; former wife and mother of his children, Phyllis Perkins; granddaughter, Corinda Perkins, two brother- in-laws, Sherwood Sampson and Larry Gaines; and one sister-in-law, Bonne Gregory.
Dwight Sr. is survived by his four daughters, Dweena Santiago (Jose) of Lincoln, DE; Dorothy Perkins of Lewes, DE; Katina Custis (Donnell) of Stone Mountain, GA; Alicia Osorio of Milton, DE; three sons, Airan Matthews of Georgetown, DE; Andre Matthews (Felicia) of Seaford, DE; Adrian Matthews of Seaford, DE; one brother, Terry Perkins (Lelia) of Newark, DE; two sisters-in-law Mary Helen Jenkins of Baltimore, MD; Jamasine Matthews of Seaford, DE; three brother- in-laws, Gary Gaines (Cliffonia) of Seaford, DE; Donald Gaines (Denise) of Newark, DE; Warren Gaines of Newark, DE; 39 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Aileen Leggins - July 14, 1940 - April 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: Aileen Leggins, better known as "Aunt Aileen", departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, DE. At the age of 83. Born on July 14, 1940 in Mobile, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of Jessie Mae and Joe Leggins. After relocating to Delaware in 1968 she found employment at the Draper King Cole Factory and remained there until the factory closed in 2001.
Aileen will be remembered for her unwavering walking exercise to the Milton Food Lion, Family Dollar, and the Dollar General stores. She never met a stranger that she wouldn't hold a conversation with. She always looked forward to going to Milton Cheer Center and to her church Kingdom Life Christian Center. Although she didn't have any kids of her own, Aileen was the babysitter for quite a few of her nieces and nephews in which each of them probably has a special story of their own that ended up with a big laugh.
Aileen was proceeded in death by her parents, Jessie Mae and Joe Leggins, four sisters, Annie Ruth Lane, Lena Mae Badger, Martha Hinton and Maryann Davis, five brothers, Joe Allen Leggins, Amos Leggins, Freddie Leggins, George Leggins and Sam Leggins. And a special great neice, Kierra (KiKi) Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters Mary Lee Snell of Mobile, Alabama, Pauline Johnson of Dover, DE; two brothers, David Leggins and Robert Leggins (Patsi) of Milton, DE. Two brothers in law, Eddie Badger and Tony Hinton, one aunt, Hattie Bea Griffin of Vallejo, California, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews etc. and friends.

Obituary Preview: Michael Anthony Brittingham departed this life on April 19, 2024. His loss was completely unexpected and his family is profoundly saddened. Michael was born on May 2, 1963, in Dover, DE to Bessie A. Rushin and Robert “Bobby” Young. He was the oldest child of six siblings; Randy “Wimpy”, Ronald “Hurt”, Tommy “Boo-Boo”, Verona, Perrin, and Tonya. Mike was blessed to have a large, loving family. Michael graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE, before serving three years in the United States Army. After the military, Michael was employed for many years through Perdue, Grottos and Mountainaire Farms. Michael, known as “Lil Mike” or “Dog,” enjoyed spending time with his family. He would be the first to arrive at family gatherings and the first to pack plates before eating. He needed a plate for Denise, and additional plates for lunch and dinner the next day. Mike would often ask his special sister in law, Joyce, to cook his favorite meal. Lil Mike enjoyed watching sports and sports betting. On Sundays, you could find him at Grottos or Nicola Pizza, with “the crew,” watching football while keeping an eye on his tickets. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers. Mike often enjoyed sitting by the water to think. Massey’s Landing Beach was one of his special places to sit and chat with his brother, Hurt. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bobby” Young, a bonus father, Thomas Rushin, grandparents, Rose Harris, Jack Young, Thoris Young, aunts, Constance Brittingham, Marcelia Cannon, Anita Brittingham; uncles, Junior Miller, Martin Burton Sr, and Robert “Stink” Brittingham; nephew, Travoris Brittingham, and cousin Shanika Brown. Michael’s presence will be sorely missed but his memory and legacy will continue through his mother, Bessie A. Brittingham of Belltown, DE; his six children, Bryant “B” Thomas of Lincoln, DE; Taliah White of Dover, DE; Tiffany “Bird” Cox of Bear, DE; Brittany “Britt” Cox of Milford, DE; Mikeala “Baby Girl” Davis of Millsboro, DE. Sister Mona Vessels (Husband David Vessels) Brother Kenneth White (Husband Christopher Wright) Girlfriend Naomi Naples and a host of friends that loved him.  He will be truly missed and was loved by anyone who came in contact with him.

Obituary Preview: Pastor Tiffany Leanne Lamontagne was born May 7, 1976, to Gloria Smith and the late Marvin Smith. She departed life on Wednesday April 3, 2024, in the comfort of her own home in Greenwood, DE.
Tiffany better known as “Tiff”, “Tbone”, and “Thunder” attended public school in the Woodbridge School District. She owned and operated CMC Childcare for 22 years and CMC Enterprise for 10 years. Tiffany was also the founder and director of 2 women groups Women of War and Women of Empowerment and a group for the younger ladies Hurt Daughters.
She met and married her husband of 25 years Joseph Lamontagne and from this union they had one son, Nolan Lamontagne. Tiffany had a special place in her heart for all children. She had a heart of gold, while being the most unselfish person to meet. She loved and enjoyed decorating, cooking, and supporting her loved ones. She also had a number one love for Christ, lifting others up and sharing of His goodness. Tiffany gave her life to Christ at the age of 15 years old. She attended Victory Temple under the leadership of the late Pastor David Purnell. She later began her own ministry alongside her husband, where they both served as Pastors at the Church of Miracles in Christ located in Milford, DE.
Tiffany was preceded in death by her father Marvin Smith, brother Shawnpa Sampson, nephew Tavyon Sykes, her maternal grandparents Lillie and Elmer Jacobs, paternal grandparents Clemon and Mary Smith, and several aunts and uncles.

Charlotte J Johnson - May 05, 1937 - March 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: God called Charlotte Jane Johnson home peacefully in her bed at home with her daughter Charlene, Son - In - Law Nate, their two fur-babies Blu` and Delilah by her side the evening of March 15, 2024 at 5:05pm.  Charlotte was born in Carthage, North Carolina to the late Herbert and Ada Hussey. Charlotte was active in athletics playing basketball in her tenure at Pickney high School where she graduated in May of 1956.
Soon after Graduation Charlotte moved North to Philadelphia, Pa with her sisters.  Charlotte met John Johnson (deceased) and were joined in Holy Matrimony on August 13, 1959.  To this union two children were born, son John Johnson Jr. December 1960 and daughter Charlene Johnson March 1962.  After her husband’s death (1963) Charlotte purchased her home at 6729 Limekiln Pike and lived there for over sixty years. Charlotte never remarried dedicating her life to her children.
Charlotte was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friends to many. Charlotte was a very good neighbor, always looking out for the safety and well being of her fellow neighbors. When the weather permitted, you would often see her sitting on the porch, interacting with them and those who walked by. Distributing smiles and pleasant conversation.
Charlotte lived a very simple life. She loved children and worked as a childcare provider for children in her home.  She also worked at Cheeks Childcare Center for several years as a classroom aide. She also worked at Ken Crest as a Dietitian. Charlotte’s last job was working at Ollie’s Deli on Ogontz Avenue as a Manager.  As a single mother Charlotte always made sure she provided a stable home and environment for her two children.  Charlotte had a love for sports especially her Philadelphia teams and sport teams from her home state of North Carolina.
In addition to Charlotte’s late parents Herbert and Ada Hussey, Charlotte was also preceded in death by her Husband John Johnson, Son John Johnson Jr., Brother Herman Hussey, Sisters Betty Brandon, Elizabeth Hampton, and Helen Collins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her Daughter Charlene Johnson Schwartz (Husband Nate), two fur-Grandchildren Blu’ and Delilah; younger Sister Clarissa Baker; her four Grandchildren Carla Marie Grigsby, William Michael Vaughan III, John Johnson Jr II and Jasmine Johnson.  She also has ten Great Grandchildren Destiny Reynolds, Aiden Reed, Serenity Simpson, Legacy Bouie, Nicole M. Johnson, John Johnson Jr. IV, Jiah J. Johnson, Jahmir J. Johnson, Ricaiya Wright, and Chase Bourne.  Also a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends whom she dearly loved.

Obituary Preview: Raymond G King was born to Raymond W. King and the late Constance M. King (Ambrose). He took his first breath on August 14, 1967, and took his last breath on March 9, 2024, at 57 years old. Raymond was born in Delaware County Pa and lived much of his life there.
Raymond received his education in the Southeast Delco School District until 1983 and resumed his education in the Springfield School District. Raymond attended Springfield High School where he played football (#44) in 10th and 11th  grade. He then graduated from high school in 1985. Raymond was very good with his hands. He worked with family and friends doing construction for many years. He also enjoyed spending time with family when he could and enjoyed watching football. Raymonds was the number one fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Raymond was preceded in death by his loving mother Constance M King and his grandparents, Leroy and Sarah Ambrose.
Raymond leaves to cherish his precious memories, His father: Raymond W. King. Nine children: Raynell King-Bellamy (Ronald), Anyse Thomas, Tonynia Rogers, Darian King, Aaliyah King, Jordan Crawford, Devon Wilson, Raymond King Jr, and Ruth King. She was surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Jessie Mae and Joe Leggins, Mary was born April 7, 1948 in Mobile, Alabama. After moving to Delaware, she found a job at the King Cole Factory where she met her husband of 40 years, Donald Edgar Davis Sr. She became a dedicated homemaker as they were blessed with six children: Donald Jr, Debra, Daniel, Darlene, Darnell and Darrell. Mary loved the Lord and helped found the Kingdom Life Christian Center in Milford, DE with her husband, Pastor Davis. She took great pride in her duties as Mother of the church: from singing on the praise team, acting as treasurer, running brown bag program and catering most, if not all events. She was Momma to everyone she met. Her generosity was known throughout her community. This quote from a family friend is a testament to her character: “You know she was a great woman if she touched my heart”. Cooking and hosting friends and family were passions of hers. She enjoyed landscaping and always received compliments from neighbors. And as anyone who knows her can attest to, Momma loved to shop. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Mae and Joe; three sisters, Ruth Lane, Lena Mae Badger, Martha Hinton; and four brothers, Joe Allen Leggins, Amos Leggins, Freddie Leggins and George Leggins. Her extensive family mourns her loss. Hughes of Anniston, Alabama and a sister Sheila D. Hughes Smith of Wellington, Alabama. He is survived by his brother Charles E. Hughes of Anniston, Alabama, a niece Michelle D. Ansley-Hohenberger and nephew-in-law Chris Hohenberger of Anniston, Alabama. Other family include two great nephews Justin T. Cummings of Jacksonville, Alabama and James A. Patricia was known for her strength, fearlessness, and passion for cooking. Patricia will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She was overprotective of her loved ones and had a strong will that was to be admired.
She often visited the Redeemed of the Lord Outreach Ministry, Patricia found solace and comfort in her place of worship.
In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, taking car rides, and cherishing moments with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Frank Bland; brothers, Edward Bland, Frank Bland Jr, and Clayton Henry; sisters, Evelyn Jones, Linda Bland, Priscilla Bland, sister/niece Rachel Powell.
Patricia is survived by her six children: Lavonne Bland-Douglas (Lamar), Larry Bland, Latisha Paul (Eric), Carleen Collick (Elroy), Charline Bland, and Darline Bland; 24 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two sisters, Addie Bland and Helen Bland. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Obituary Preview: Timothy Eugene Sampson was born August 7, 1966 to Ethel Mae Sampson and Earl May Jr at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. Timothy departed this life on January 20, 2024 in Lewes, Delaware.
Tim was loved by everyone. He always had something going on, rather it be barbecuing or partying all night long at Boom Boom Room. Every now and then you would catch him swinging on the pole. It was always a good time. He believed in having fun.
Tim was a loving and caring person. He loved to be around everybody. Family, friends, it didn’t matter. He was such a comedian. He was always saying something slick out of his mouth. Tim would have you in tears and your stomach hurting from laughing so much. It was never a dull moment. In the early 80’s Tim started break dancing with his brother helping him out. And with years of practice, he became a member of the Electronic brakers.
Tim also had a love for music. He worked with Force One for many years. While doing this he came up with his name “DJ Real”. Yes, he was very “Real”. One of a kind. He also loved being outdoors. He had a passion for crabbing and fishing. He loved riding his motorcycle with the Red Line Riders. Timothy enjoyed life and he definitely lived life to the fullest.
Tim was preceded in death by mother, Ethel Mae Sampson, father, Earl May Jr, daughter, Timneshia Sampson, niece, Shanitta Sampson, and nephew Timothy Felix. Obituary Preview: Roy Jay Walker 73, born in San Fransisco, California, also known as “Sticks,” peacefully slipped away from his family and many friends on Tuesday evening, January 16, 2024, at the Christiana Care Hospital.
Roy graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles, CA. He entered the U. S. Air Force as an electrician and was stationed at Dover AFB. After his four-year military tour successfully ended, Roy joined the Dover AFB Fire Department. His community contributions included hosting a Kid’s Christmas party at the Base Fire Station for a multitude of years.
Roy had numerous hobbies including restoring classic Volkswagens, attending car shows, visiting thrift stores, rooting for his Philadelphia Eagles and frequenting many fine restaurants. His final and most significant hobby was being a founding member of the Delaware Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.  He is survived by his wife, Ellene; daughter, Davita and sons Rory (Lakedia), Corey, and Roy III (Bianca). Additionally, a brother, Norris and a sister, Dorothy are his survivor siblings. Also included is a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Walter, also known as Baby Love, was always the life of a party. He loved to dance, play cards, ride around, and be with family. He stayed dressed and would always be sharp as a tack. His favorite colors were red and black. He had a love for air shows and detailing cars. He also loved to eat, but his favorite was blueberry pancakes with extra blueberries. He was spoiled by many since he is the baby of the bunch.
Walter had a special love for his family and could also be sharp with his tongue.
He was a very strong man even through many health complications. Walter continued to push through it all, and his favorite motto is “Only The Strong Survives”.
Walter was proceeded in death by his two sisters, Sandra Weston, Iris (Jean) Weston and brother Henry Weston, Jr (Buddy).
Walter leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Kshawn J. For many years, Jennie worked at Admiral hotel as a manager.
Jennie was always a happy person. Who enjoyed being outdoors where she would plant a variety of flowers along with any vegetables she could in her garden. No matter what season it was Jennie genuinely loved nature and all it had to offer. Jennie enjoyed talking to her great niece Ariyah Curtis on the phone every night. She had special bond with her family and friends. Jennie also had with three special cats Ace, Pookie, and Dennis whom she loved dearly.
On June 14, 2002, Jennie was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Monroe Hitches. The two were blessed to be wed for 16 years prior to Clarence's passing in 2019.
Jennie also attended the Millsboro Campus New Dimension Family Ministries.
As Jennie health declined, she was fortunate to be cared for by her loving nephew Hildred Stevenson and his daughter Tina Johnson who made sure all of her needs were taken care of.

Phyllis Celinda Miller Berry Scott, daughter of the late Rodney and Clara Miller was born on June 1st, 1934, in Dover, Delaware. On Sunday morning, December 31st, 2023, at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus, she left it all behind and gently departed her life after 89 lovely years on this earth.
Phyllis was educated at Caesar Rodney, Booker T. Washington, Delaware State College High School, and Delaware Technical Community College. She obtained her bachelor's degree in business from Delaware State College (currently known as Delaware State University). She was employed for thirty-three years with several companies. She was employed by Dover Air Force Base, National Cup Co., University of Delaware, and retired from Delaware State University as a security officer. After retirement, she decided to continue to work and was employed by Whatcoat Shelter until she fully entered retirement. While she was employed, she was an active union member of AFCME council eighteen.
Phyllis joined Union Baptist Church in March of 1950 under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Williams and remained a member of Union Baptist attending regularly until she departed this earth. She served on the choir, usher board, women’s committee, culinary committee, and pastor’s aide.
She was a dedicated member of Hattie S. Blackwell Chapter #16 and actively participated until her health declined.  Phyllis was the light and love of her family and despite having a large family, she was always available for everyone. She constantly provided love and support for her family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings at her house or family members’ homes. Phyllis had a love of all thing’s turtles. She has a huge collection of turtle figurines, plates, pictures, jewelry, and blankets all with turtles she has personally collected, and family and friends have gifted her over the years.  She loved cooking, sewing, and baking, especially her famous bean pie and yeast rolls. In her earlier years she enjoyed making wedding cakes for family and friends. She loved going on vacation with her son Greg and daughter in love Brenda on the land, sea, and air. She also loved her visits to the casinos. She loved to attend family reunions and family BBQs whether they were in Dover, DE, North Carolina, or South Carolina. She took pride in the summer months to have all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews at her home to spoil them with trips to the beach, McDonalds, and Dairy Queen. She enjoyed it when her grandson Robert and great granddaughter Nakira would stop by weekly to check on her. She also looked forward to her nephew Les Berry stopping in. She especially loved all her little great grandchildren stopping by and she would be sure to have popsicles and crackers ready for them to snack on. One thing about Phyllis, she would enjoy a phone call from her family and friends especially niece Nancy Lewis and friends Donnie Bryant, Christine Spady, Pearl Sherman, and the late Claretta Freeman.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was proceeded in death by her husband Joseph S. Berry Sr., her sons Jarrell L. Berry and Edwin V. Berry and three brothers Donald V. Miller, Aaron L. Miller, and Walden B. Miller. She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Joseph S. Berry Jr. (Brooklyn, NY), Jacqueline D. Berry (Charlotte, NC), Jeraldine D. His kindness, and desire to help made him never meet a stranger.
James loved his family. He loved spending time with loved ones. One of his favorite things to watch was wrestling. He was an example to his children on how to love one another, how to support one another, and how to cherish family. He was a hardworking father, husband, brother and friend.
James Henry Johnson, Sr. was a man of God. His heart to serve and help was exemplified often to neighbors, friends, family and church family. As a family man, he cared for all of his children. So much so, it was important to James, his children knew God. James attended the following churches throughout his life, First Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Rev. Hilton Palmer, Refuge Temple, serving under Pastor Leon Williams and Tabernacle Prayer #2, serving under Apostle Elijah Drummond Ill. He served the ministry in the following capacities as Deacon, Elder, Giver, and Co-Pastor. He was simply a "Helper of God" and that was the title he promoted. He loved church, God's people and fellowship with the saints. He would often quote, Psalm 84:11 "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." Followed by won't He do it, take the limits off of God." From Psalm 101:7-8, "He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house; He that tellers lies shall not tarry in my sight.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Robert H Johnson, Sr and Lola Mae Johnson, siblings: Donald Lee Johnson, Charles Johnson, Robert Johnson, and Irene Drummond.

In his free time, Zac enjoyed going to the beach, snowboarding, traveling, being out in nature and spending quality time with his family and friends.  These hobbies brought him great joy and allowed him to create lasting memories.
