Rulon was born September 25, 1926 to Wesley Leon and Martha Velma Norton Hurst in Woodville, Idaho.  Living on the farm taught Rulon the value of hard work, his parents and five siblings taught him the importance of love and faith in God. Theirs was a happy, busy home. World War II was raging while Rulon was in high school, and when he was 18, Rulon was inducted into the Army in 1945. Before being shipped overseas, he married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of Rulon’s assignments in the Army was as a member of Joint Task Force 1, participating in the two atomic bomb tests on Bikini Atoll.
After being discharged from the Army, Rulon went to Idaho State College and studied engineering, graduating with honors. His first job was with KOOK TV in Billings, Montana. Later, he accepted a position as an instrument man with Continental Oil Co. His hard work and skill allowed him to be promoted to many higher positions and moving to several states. Years later, he was hired by Tenneco Oil to design and oversee the construction of their oil pipeline system.
Rulon was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He has one surviving sister, Shirlene Wrigley of Burley, Idaho; three daughters: Connie Schreiner (Billings, Montana), Bonnie Stevens (Overbrook, Kansas), and Diane Tolbert (Pinnacle, North Carolina), one son: Michael Leon Hurst (Columbia, Mississippi); and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Warren Parker Fraleigh - December 26, 1925 - April 03, 2022

Departed: 04/03/2022 (St. George)
Obituary Preview: Remembrance of Warren Fraleigh by Sondra Fraleigh
Warren Fraleigh is my husband of 55 years and will always be in my heart. He lived to the age of 96-plus years and was everything to me. We were partners in life, love, careers—family, world travels, and the study of movement and philosophy.
Warren was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 26, 1925. He was a child during the great depression, and he belongs to the Greatest Generation. His mother was Ethyl Sarah Dobson, and his father was William Royden Fraleigh. His sister Ruth visited us often when we lived in NY, but I never met his brother Buddy who was killed in World War II. Warren also served in WWII. He joined the navy at age 19 and entered as a submariner. One has to have nerves of steel to serve on a submarine. Warren underwent tests for the ability to spend weeks underwater in close quarters with many other men and to endure possible attacks.
He is now one of the few veterans of World War II to live into 2022. Warren and I watched every submarine movie that came around. Our favorites were Run Silent, Run Deep, and The Hunt for Red October. There was something timeless about them, however transparent today. Warren’s submarine experience included being in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Tokyo close to our fateful bombing of Japan. His submarine endured depth charges there. It’s a wonder that Japan eventually became a special place for us. Warren had many professional associates from Japan and assisted Japanese students in their studies in New York. I wrote three books about butoh, an avant guard form of dance originating in Japan after WWII, eventually taking root worldwide. Warren and I had many Japanese friends and often reminisced about our travels in Japan. Warren loved life. Growing up in Detroit during the heyday of Big Band Jazz, he enjoyed the best of Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstein (two of his favorites), and many more. He liked the stride piano style of Errol Garner, as I do. I studied music, and jazz came naturally to me. Warren and I spent many happy hours listening to incredible jazz artists, live and on old-fashioned records. Warren also loved wine, good food, friends, and travel. Some of our favorite countries were Israel and Greece. Warren collected great wines over the years. Lucky for me!
As for his professional life, he earned his college education on the GI Bill of Rights after the war, graduating from Wayne State University first and earning his Ph.D. at the Ohio University. During his education, he taught elementary school and high school physical education. After earning his doctorate, he embarked on a long and eventful university career as a physical education teacher of many sports and became a baseball coach. He taught for many years at San Jose State University. He then became dean of Physical Education and Athletics at Brockport State College, part of the State University of New York. Brockport had a large and prominent faculty of Physical Education at that time. We moved from California to New York and became part of SUNY in 1970. I joined the faculty of dance there in 1973.
Warren and I met at San Jose State University in 1966 when I returned from my Fulbright study at the Mary Wigman School of Dance in Berlin. I joined the dance faculty at San Jose, and Warren introduced himself to me at registration. After that, he courted me in Northern California. Yes, I use the word “court” because Warren was a traditional guy. Lucky for me, I had a great escort everywhere we went, and he took me on a whirlwind courtship. We went to outdoor symphony concerts at Stanford, Broadway musicals in San Carlos, jazz concerns in nearby Los Gatos, and many special plays and dinners in San Francisco. Warren knew how to woo a girl. We visited Big Sur, south of San Jose, and Point Lobos, a particular lookout point we liked. We swam there in China Cove with seagulls overhead. We married in Carmel by the Sea, eloped, and took our best friends with us as witnesses, returning to the university as a couple, which didn’t surprise anyone. Christina was born the following year, and we have been an inseparable threesome ever since. Now that Warren is gone, Christina and I remember all the beautiful travels we enjoyed and the many Christmases we shared. We remember how many people loved and appreciated Warren from different perspectives. He conceived and initiated a worldwide organization for the study of sports philosophy, IAPS, the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport. This organization is now extensive and awards a yearly prize named for Warren Fraleigh. His great-nephew calls him “A Rock Star.”
Warren lived a long and happy life and made me proud to be a part of it. We held a family and close friend gathering for Warren to celebrate his life. It was his wish to have a simple and friendly party at home. Christina and I both remembered him in our own words. My sister read a letter she wrote for him, and my brother sang, “How great thou art.” I also read some of Warren’s poetry, and we felt his presence in his own words. Our family is grateful for the many good wishes sent our way in cards and letters, especially for those international friends in IAPS. We will all miss Warren, but he is free of pain now, and we celebrate his life of honesty, grace, and achievement.

Departed: 03/18/2022 (St. George)
Obituary Preview: On March 18, 2022, Jeremy Allen Cogdell, 28, began his next journey . . . continuing along his path. His loss was completely unexpected; leaving his grieving family and friends shocked and deeply saddened. He will be missed by so many in countless ways - as a grandson, uncle, brother, son and father. Jeremy’s daughter, Emery Alaina Codgell, was the light of his life. In his own words, Jeremy described Emery as his beautiful, other half. She was his rock, his greatest blessing - the one thing that kept him going and constantly striving to be the best person possible.
Jeremy was born in St. George, Utah on August 18, 1993. His family moved to Washington City when Jeremy was 4 and he grew up surrounded by friends, where he ensured life was a great adventure for everyone. All who knew Jeremy will remember his contagious smile and goofy laugh. He never failed to put a smile on the face of others. Jeremy possessed a strong worth ethic and natural leadership abilities from birth - giving his best to everything he did . . . whether cleaning his shoes or building trusses. His bigger-than-life personality completely filled any room he entered and lifted all. Countless lives are better due to the way Jeremy lived his life - directly due to his influence and love.
For Jeremy, family came first and an opportunity to spend time with and support those he loved was never wasted or taken for granted. Family didn’t only mean blood relation to Jeremy, though. It included everyone he chose and was always evident in his love for Emery’s little sister, Aiyana. Jeremy lived his life authentically - always unapologetically willing to use the strengths developed through his own struggles to improve the lives of others. Not only was he there for others in the moment, but consistently followed-up or checked in to ensure everyone was ok. Jeremy will forever be considered not only a best friend, but a brother - by many - as he loved freely and with his whole heart. As Jeremy began this next phase in his journey, he was greeted by his Father, Joe Conkle, and Maternal Grandfather, Charles Hawes (better known as Papa Charlie). Until we see him again, Jeremy will be deeply missed by his Daughter, Emery; Mother, Cindy Stock; Stepfather, Mason Stock; Sister, Jennifer; Brothers Paul (Flor), Adam, Matthew (Christy), Jacob, Isaac, Benjamin; Stepmother, Lynda Conkle; Grandparents Hal & Mary Ann Halford; a handful of step / half siblings Jesse, Joe, Jonny, Kasey, Sarah, Jamie; those who know him as Uncle Jerm . . . Kannon, Little Paul and Cyndi; his girlfriend Breana and many other close friends...and we can't forget his Puppers Jax!
Jeremy is now our guardian angel and we know this is not goodbye, but see you later.
A graveside service in Jeremy’s honor will be held at Washington City Cemetery on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11am. Jeremy had been working hard on his back yard and hoping for a fire pit (or more accurately nagging Cindy for permission to build a fire pit in their shared backyards) for a long time. So, we will hold off a few weeks while we finish his fire pit and will then gather in the backyard of his childhood home for A Celebration of Life in his honor on Saturday, April 23rd at 6pm. “Loved with a love beyond all feelings. Missed with a grief beyond all tears.”

Obituary Preview: Richard “Dick” Stott, age 82, went to his heavenly home on March 13, 2022, he passed peacefully with his loving wife & two dogs by his side. He was born, October 5, 1939, “on the farm” in Manti, UT to Leon and Eunice (Rasmussen) Stott. His family later moved to Murray UT where he attended school.
Before graduating Richard quit school to work with his father as a cement finisher and shared that he helped his father with the cement work of Murray High School, amongst other projects. After a while, he felt the tug of adventure and joined the United States Coast Guard. He was fortunate to be based out of Hawaii, where he lived with his wife & childhood sweetheart Geraldine (Rossiter) Stott. They have one daughter, Kelly Stott Brubaker. Richard was gifted musically and played the drums and the trumpet. While in the Coast Guard marching band he played the trumpet in the parade of Hawaii becoming a State.

He had a love for flight since he was a child, and shared that he rode his bicycle from Murray to the Salt Lake City airport to stand at the fence and watch the planes. He never got over this, and would go to many locations to watch planes. His favorite, by far, was watching the Blue Angles fly. He also had a love for radio scanning equipment, and had multiple scanners in his pickup truck. He would sit outside the fence (with other airplane enthusiasts) and listen to the Blue Angles talk to each other as the practiced their air show maneuvers overhead.  During his flight career he flew US mail on the west coast, transported planes back and forth across the United States, and spent many summer seasons dropping fire retardant on fires in western states for Aero Union.
Richard was fortunate to have his “broadcasting voice discovered” and started a 35-year career on the radio in Boise Idaho. He was honored to broadcast from KYME and KBOI radio stations. He felt his name didn’t roll of the tongue so he started to go by “Dick Stott”.  He helped bring ‘Rock & Roll’ to the Boise market, and push the Zombies to #1 with their hit tune “Time of the Season”.
He later moved back to Salt Lake City, UT where he met and married his current wife of 25 years, Lynn (Palfreyman) Stott. They spent the last 20-years of his life in St. George, UT, where Lynn continues to reside. They enjoyed making memories through time spent together whether at home or on various vacations, primarily to warm sandy beaches.
