Dr. Mark S. De Bock - September 27, 1961 - May 08, 2024

Departed: 05/08/2024 (Brooklyn)
Obituary Preview: Dr. Mark S. De Bock, D.D.S. passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 - Mark was a well-respected dentist in the community of Bay Ridge Brooklyn, and among his peers. He owned a private practice for over 30 years and his patients loved and trusted him as well as all of those who worked for him, dentistry was his life.
Dr. De Bock was a larger than life individual with an infectious personality that was genuinely authentic. Born on 9/27/61 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, the only child of Florent and Mary De Bock (Murray), his mother instilled a strong sense of family values and the importance of education. His father guided him in all aspects of his business which led to his successful career in dentistry.  Mark spent a few of his formative years overseas in Dusseldorf and upon returning to the US he went on to graduate from Poly Prep H.S. in 1979. He graduated from Wagner College and went on to earn his medical degree from NYU College of Dentistry.
Out of the tragedy of 9/11, he finally found the true love of his life, Carol. When her whole world was turned upside down; Mark raised her up from her fear and together grew their love of a lifetime. They were married for 20 years; she was the love of his life; and he was her whole world.  They were avid travelers, he was a wine connoisseur, loved fine dining and together they had an appreciation for the simpler things in life too. The cornerstone of his life was centered on his wife, mother and his dear Nanny and Granddad. Everything he did included them, his dear mother-in-law, Emelia Kruger and his mother's lifelong friend Theresa Kelly too.
Mark was a certified scuba diver (PADI), who had an eye for underwater photography, he traveled the world on diving excursions. At Poly Prep High he joined the drama club, was on the wrestling team and was also a member of the Lacrosse team who friends say he was a strong defenseman.  Mark's courage was awarded when he became an Eagle Scout. Everyone who knew Mark loved him.  He was genuinely kind and exuded love to everyone he met without pretense or arrogance. Mark was one of a kind, a rare find in people today and the best husband in the world who will live forever in our hearts.
Mark is predeceased by his loving and endearing parents Mary and Florent De Bock (Murray), his maternal grandparents, Caroline and James Murray (Morris), his paternal grandparents Benoit and Elvire De Bock (Verbeke) of La Louviere, Belgium, and his dearest friend Gerard Napoli who was like a brother to him.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol A. De Bock (Kruger), his Aunt Eileen and Herbert Cavanaugh (Murray) and Aunt Janet Lynch (Murray), his god children, Erin Lynch and Joseph Cavanaugh, and many cousins.
