Ronnie Hinnant - December 14, 1959 - September 12, 2022

Departed: 09/12/2022 (Goldsboro)
Obituary Preview: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7–8 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
Ronnie Hinnant was born December 14, 1959, and he passed away peacefully on September 12, 2022, with family at his side.
Ronnie lived a full life, which his caring and devoted mother, grandmother and father worked to ensure. Despite his mental and physical disabilities, Ronnie still was able to graduate from Goldsboro High School as well as enjoy a normal childhood with his brothers and sisters - riding bicycles and motor bikes, bowling, playing basketball, and taking care of the family’s dogs, Lassie and Rex.
There were things Ronnie couldn’t do that so many take for granted every day. Some people have good health, but they take it for granted; some people can walk without limitations, but they take it for granted; some people can speak, but they take that for granted as well. As a family, we saw all the things Ronnie could do. He could smile, laugh, and love without conditions. He showed love without ever having to say the word.
There were more things he could do. By seeing him work hard to overcome his challenges, it reminded others to work harder as well. Ronnie helped teach us about our own strengths and gifts in this way. He also taught us how to be happy because he took joy in simple things – joy in eating at McDonald’s, joy in going for a car ride, joy in washing a car, joy in watching sports, joy in taking out the trash, getting the mail as well as going to the vocational rehabilitation program at Wayne Opportunity Center when his health allowed.
Ronnie was a fighter. We could look to him for an example of perseverance and inner strength, as he continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would crush many of us. Ronnie showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps on going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. Strength is found in one who knows success is not always big and flashy but knows that sometimes the greatest success is found in the tiniest of victories. In this way, Ronnie was a true fighter – just like his family who also kept on going, day after day, through the best times and through the hardest times in taking care of him.
Ronnie was predeceased by his dedicated parents, Mrs. Odessa Hinnant and Mr. Felix Lynn. Precious, loving memories will remain with his siblings; Ronnie’s twin, Donnie Hinnant, his sisters, Cynthia Hinnant, Rachel Hinnant, Brenda Richardson (Levern), and Pastor Portia Brewington (Clifton); and his brothers, Jerry Hinnant, William Hinnant (Phyllis), James Hinnant (Louise) along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside service, officiated by Reverend Levern Richardson on Friday, September 16th.

Kenya L. Richardson - March 11, 1983 - January 28, 2022

Departed: 01/28/2022 (Goldsboro)
Obituary Preview: NOTICE: Livestream will have a brief pause once service is completed and will resume at the graveside. Thank You “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His Saints.” (Psalm 116:15)
Kenya Latrice Richardson was born to Kent Richardson and Letha Summers Richardson on Friday, March 11, 1983, at St. Claire’s Hospital in Denville, Morris County, New Jersey. Kenya made her transition from labor to reward on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 3:54pm at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.
In the 1980s, New York City model agencies sought to contract Kenya as a baby model. But as a military kid Kenya’s childhood stretched from New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, West Germany, and Maryland. Kenya was a graduate of the Goldsboro High School Class of 2001.
Early on Kenya first attended Christ Memorial Interdenominational Church where she accepted Jesus the Christ as her personal LORD and Savior. Later Kenya became a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she took pride as a Servant Greeter, and the first face folks saw upon entering the House of God. There, Kenya was also baptized on August 09, 2015.
During Kenya’s work life, she was employed by companies including, K&W Cafeteria and Rite Aid Pharmacy until her health declined. Afterwards, Kenya devoted herself as an excellent homemaker, cook, and caregiver who was exceptionally clean. Kenya also found enjoyment as a babysitter. A few of Kenya’s favorite things were to study the Holy Bible, binge ‘Chrisley Knows Best’, assist her beloved parents, shop, and travel.
Kenya overcame personal fears, opinions, and other resistance when she was invited to deliver her testimony in a live interview on ‘My Story God’s Glory TV’ on March 08, 2019, which reached close to 1,300 people.  Other local broadcasts extended invitations to Kenya but she began to devote all of her time, energy, and resources to document her 13-year journey entitled ‘Anchored By Faith: Surviving Sarcoidosis’, which is highly anticipated. As an advocate for sarcoidosis awareness, Kenya joined Facebook’s ‘Sarcoidosis Is Real’ in March of 2014, to share her experiences and encouragement with their 12k membership support group. Kenya’s endurance and personal qualities have been credited innumerable times as a model of Jesus Christ as her personal story shifted perspectives on life’s mountain or valley moments.

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and acquaintances of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who want to pay their respects. They can also help families process their grief and come to terms with their loss.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the obituary is written by a family member, close friend, or funeral home staff member. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Typically, it ranges from a few sentences to several paragraphs. Aim for a concise yet meaningful summary of the person's life.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and help readers remember the person.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission process and any specific requirements they may have. Be prepared to provide the necessary information and payment for the publication.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?
