Bernice Mary Giacoletti - April 09, 1933 - June 25, 2022

Departed: 06/25/2022 (Safford)
Obituary Preview: With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bernice Giacoletti. Our loving Nana, Wife, Mother & friend, graduated from life June 25, 2022. She left us while resting at Mt. Graham Hospital during her 89th year. Bernice was born April 9, 1933, in Bisbee, Arizona to Lola and James Spivey. She was married to Domenick Giacoletti on November 2, 1957.
She was feisty and very opinionated! But oh, how she loved fiercely with her whole heart. Her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren were the light of her life. “They tickle me” she would always say. They made her whole life. We will miss the birthday calls and singing, the lectures on how she just wants to be called & visited every once and a while. The flipping off under the table, with the infamous, “look under the table”, right before. The infectious laugh, the twinkling smile, the tight hugs, and the Christmas fudge. She is survived by her children, Domenick (Terry), Dennis (Julie) and Michael, 9 grandchildren, & 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, & her daughter Kathy. The legacy she left will be forever in our hearts. The example of love, 65 years worth, will provide each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren what it means to “make it work”. As she waits for her true love we know that she will be fishing in heaven. We love you Nana!
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation St. Jude Children's Hospital as this was her favorite charity that she donated to each month.

Gloria Jean Parker - April 24, 1952 - June 21, 2022

Departed: 06/21/2022 (Safford)
Obituary Preview: Gloria Jean Parker left this earth at home surrounded by her family on June 21, 2022, at age 70 after a courageous 22-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Gloria was born to Alan and Louise Moller on April 24, 1952, at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
Everyone called her “Glo” because of the way that her sparkling blue eyes and radiant smile would light up any room.  Gloria relished fresh-ground dark French roast coffee, raspberry crepes and above all, dark chocolate. She loved cats and found forever homes for dozens of rescued cats and kittens wherever she lived. Glo took great pleasure from watching the many kinds of wild birds that came to the feeders outside her living room window and took special delight in the hummingbirds.
She had a life-long passion for learning about the universe and the natural world and was an avid fan of science and science fiction shows.  She loved hiking in the mountains, exploring new places, and photographing wildflowers. Flower and vegetable gardens flourished under her green thumb. When she could no longer travel with her family, she continued to explore the world from home through nature and travel shows.
As a child, Gloria traveled with her military family to San Jose California, then to Okinawa, Japan and Hawaii.  After graduation from Waipahu High School, she attended the University of Hawaii until the family moved to McKinleyville, California in 1970.  Glo then attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, California where she met and married the love of her life, David Parker in 1972.
Glo and David developed a passion for antiques and collectables and together they operated a vintage clothing store in Arcata from 1982 to 1985.  After taking classes in business and accounting at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, California, she put her knack for numbers and business skills to work as a bookkeeper and Accounts Manager for Humboldt Newspapers until they moved to Missoula, Montana in 1988, so David could attend graduate school.
In Missoula, Gloria continued to work as an accounts manager for a tire company. The greatest joy in her life came with the birth of their daughter Devon Aurianna in 1993. That same year the new family moved to Safford when David went to work at the Morenci Mine.  Gloria continued to work in the newspaper business as Classified Manager and then Office Manager for the Eastern Arizona Courier from 1995 until her disability caused her to retire in 2001.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 50 years David Parker, daughter Devon Parker of Tucson, her sisters, Ruth (Bill) Reese Moller of Platte River, Nebraska, Cynthia (Carl) Hansen of Roswell, New Mexico, Dorothy Moller of Austin, Texas and her brother Richard Moller of Elk Creek, California.

Joseph "Kai" Gurtler - March 11, 1997 - June 05, 2022

Departed: 06/05/2022 (Safford)
Obituary Preview: Joseph Kai Gurtler was born on March 11, 1997, in Safford, Arizona, to Terrin Bull & Jeffery Gurtler. Kai was, and will always be remembered by those that knew him, as energetic, enthusiastic, curious, devilishly clever, and above all, generous young man.
Kai’s curiosity routinely led him into ventures of every variety, including stints as a secret shopper, product reviewer, kitchen worker, bartender, firefighter, computer enthusiast, streamer, and eventually following in his father’s footsteps into mining facilities in Arizona. For Kai, every day was an adventure and he regularly sought out ways to make others smile. Examples of this range from childhood when he would play “Jaws,” “Halo,” or his personal favorite, the tune from a cat food commercial on his cello rather than the prescribed music, or as an adult when he ran gaming streams to share his favorite aspects of himself and his games. If he wasn’t behind a screen, you could catch Kai at a bar making people smile with silly antics, fun stories, or the best bar games. He always was the life of the party and the one to brighten a room.
For many who knew him, Kai was a beacon of enthusiasm and positivity with boundless energy. He cherished his relationships with friends, girlfriends, and family, and had a unique ability to reach into the life of someone else and offer help or support without a moment of thought about how it might impact him. He was able to see when others were hurting and provide unique aid. As a toddler, Kai drug his child-sized mattress to his injured cousin in another room to provide physical comfort and as an adult, he would go out of his way to bring someone a piece of cheesecake when they felt bad, be a shoulder to cry on when they had a bad day, and be a smiling face when things were going bad. Kai was always trying his hardest to make everyone around him happy. He would search for any possible way to improve their life, even if it meant foregoing a mattress in favor of the floor or reaching out to be the listening ear. His smile and laughter will always be remembered and cherished.
On Sunday, June 5, 2022, Kai passed away at the age of 25.  While he is no longer with us, his infectious positivity and playful attitude remain in the memory of all who knew him. Kai is survived by his older sister, both of his parents, a loving extended family, and an entourage of friends, all of whom will miss him dearly and celebrate the life he lived.
A visitation for Kai will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at the McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

Ann Larsen - November 05, 1933 - May 11, 2022

Departed: 05/11/2022 (Safford)
Obituary Preview: Ann Arrowsmith Larsen left this life on May 11, 2022, peacefully in her home at the age of 88 after a fun and interesting life.  We imagine that she was as surprised by this as we were because she always insisted she would live to be 95.  We know that she was joined by loving family members and friends celebrating her “graduation” on the other side.
Ann was born on November 5, 1933, in Los Angeles, California to Elden Leroy Arrowsmith & Mary Eloise King Arrowsmith. She was raised in Hollywood California.
Ann had a bachelor's and Master’s Degree of Social Work from Berkeley University. She enjoyed playing the piano and was in a Hungarian dancing troop at the time she met Wendell Larsen at a party on the beach. She married her husband Wendell on March 24, 1967, in the Salt Lake City Temple.  She worked for years as a social worker in San Francisco and San Lois Obispo but said her greatest joy was in raising her children and spending time with her husband of 55 years.
Ann loved learning, traveling, gardening, and serving the Lord.  She taught English in Japan, loved Rachmaninoff, and studied herbs. She and Wendell served a mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City and temple missions in  Sweden, and Nauvoo IL.  They lived in Nauvoo for 10 more years, serving in the temple and family history centers there, and battling the deer and rabbits for control of the vegetable garden. Wendell and Ann moved to Safford Arizona, built their home there, and loved their dear friends and neighbors.
Ann is survived by her husband Wendell, her brother Ray Arrowsmith, her sister-in-law Anna Larsen, children David Larsen, Chad Larsen, and Jennifer Wilson, and grandchildren Jacob, Ashley, Josh, Grace, and Johnathan.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mt. Graham Chapel, Safford 9th Ward, located at 3722 South Hwy 191 Safford, Arizona 85546.
Interment will take place in Utah for family & friends with the graveside dedication on Saturday, May 21st at 12:00 p.m. at the Memorial Redwood Cemetery in Salt Lake City.
