Obituary Preview: Charles M. Richardson, 73, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Charles was born August 31, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Oscar and Ruth (Jaques) Richardson. He and Elizabeth Rose Shuffit were married October 28, 1978, in Scott City, MO.
Charles was a veteran of the United States Air Force having enlisted September 15, 1967, and honorably discharged at the rank of Seargent on September 14, 1971.
Charles retired from Bilfinger as a general foreman for over thirty years. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey.
In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, Elizabeth Rose Richardson, he is survived by three children, Joseph (Cindy Lou) Kelley of Altenburg, Missouri, Amber (Rick McCain Jr.) Richardson of Scott City, and Gary Paul (Becky) Kelley of Gatesville, Texas; four grandchildren, Kassidy Jones of Cape Girardeau, Jossie Jones of Scott City, and Victoria and Nathan Kelley of Gatesville, TX; five siblings, Jerry (Maureen) Richardson of Arizona, Jacqueline (Fred) Stewart of Cape Girardeau, Yvonne (Gayle) Call of Fort Charlotte, Florida, John (Elaine) Richardson of Cape Girardeau, and Will (Mary) Richardson of Jackson.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph Richardson and a nephew, Danny Richardson.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Jessica Beerup from the Veterans Administration for all her help and support.
Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service, Monday, May 2, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Monday May 2, 2022, at the funeral home with Rev. Sam Penny officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with full Military Honors.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Wounded Warriors Project.

Obituary Preview: Douglas A. "Doug" Boren, 63, of Jackson, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at Southeast Hospital.
He and the love of his life, Catherine Quigg were married in 1984 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Doug had an endless love for his wife, Cathy. He had a passion for adventures of which he shared with his family that he so dearly loved. His heart was as big as the universe, and he touched so many lives with love and deep sense of humor.
Doug loved the outdoors. From fishing to pheasant hunting, to the shooting range, if it was outdoors and involved nature, you would find Doug enjoying it. He was a deep music enthusiast and could be found rocking out to music at home or going to concerts. Doug was also a lifetime member of the Boys of Girardeau (BOG).
In addition to his loving wife of 37 years, Doug is survived by two children, Tori (Ryan) Gibson of Cape Girardeau and Dan (Jen) Boren of Gordonville; six grandchildren, Evelyn, Rhys, Jordan, Alyssa, Mason and Izabell; a sister, Vicki Boren of Cape Girardeau; two nephews, Bryan Boren of Las Vegas and Lance Boren of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law, Lyris Boren of Buffalo, NY.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1-3 PM at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Doug.

Obituary Preview: Gary Wayne Brandes, age 78, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home. He was born February 25, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Walter "Cleve" and Irene Kassel Brandes. Gary married Geneva Weber November 29, 1975 at Uniontown, Missouri. Gary was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He was a veteran of Vietnam having served honorably in the US Navy from February 6, 1964 thru December 21, 1967. After returning home from service he worked as a manager at Shawneetown Feed and Seed and then started a career as a truck driver, having driven for Roy Pohlman, Flickerwood Farms, Rollet Brothers Trucking and his last two years for the United States Postal Service. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, wildlife, and playing with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was formerly an active leader for the 4-H Club, a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Cape Girardeau and the American Legion Post in Perryville, Missouri. He has been a very faithful and dedicated member of the Lutheran faith. Gary and Geneva were very instrumental in organizing and starting the North Cape County Fire Department. He served as the department's first Fire Chief.

Obituary Preview: Frances Dellene (Stayton) Wolfe, born in Alton, Illinois, went to be with Jesus April 21, 2022. After graduating from East Alton Wood River High School in Wood River, Illinois, Frances moved to Wisconsin and then Michigan, living in the upper peninsula of that area for most her life. She recently moved to Missouri to be closer to family. Frances was an outdoor enthusiast and loved hunting and fishing. She scored several trophy deer and elk, as well as turkeys. Frances was a long-time member of West Side Assembly of God Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. One of her joys in church was participating in her Sunday School Bible class. Frances had a heart of gold, supporting numerous charities and outreaches throughout her lifetime. She did not hesitate to lend a helping hand as much as possible and was always an eager gift giver. She loved others very deeply and will truly be missed. Her company was a gift of life that many enjoyed, and heaven has gained. She is already missed greatly by those left behind. Loving survivors include two sisters, Barbara Stayton-Eaves (Terry) and Jani Stayton-Williams (Alan) of Missouri; three nieces, Teresa Gaikema (Tim), Ursulla Wadley (Doug), Katrina Campbell (Jeff); a nephew, Nathaniel Reid (Lee Lee); 11 great-nieces and nephews; a great-great niece and a great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Delmont Lowell Stayton and mother, Frances Stayton-Ferguson; an infant daughter, Connie Raydell; paternal grandparents Reverend L.L. Ferguson and Laura Gamer-Ferguson; maternal grandparents, John Nathaniel and Nellie Miller-Eudy; and her beloved longtime friend, Jack L. Benson. A memorial service will be announced later. McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center was entrusted with Frances's arrangements.

Richard Leon Roberts - April 29, 1941 - April 21, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard Leon Roberts of Jackson, 80, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born April 29, 1941, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Cecil and Pearl Roberts. Known as Rick to his friends, he attended Sikeston High School and joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He served three years and later joined the U.S. Air Force, serving another 12 years of active duty. After completing his term of enlistment, he returned to his boyhood home and later was hired at Noranda Aluminum as an electrician, retiring with over 20 years of service. Rick was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard, serving an additional 25 years for a total of 40 years military service and achieving the rank of first sergeant. Rick’s fun-loving, kind and generous personality was known by all. He lived every day to the fullest, accepting all challenges with a degree of intrepidity. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and western dancer. He spent time as a member of the VFW and Eagles of Jackson, dancing with his wife and with friends along the way. His passion for classic cars helped him find a home with the Capaha Car Club. But above all, he was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family and his grandchildren, and he made friends in the many activities he joined. Rick is loved by many and missed by all. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Brumlow of Fancy Farm, Kentucky. He is survived by his children, Rita, Rollin, Jason, Jerry and Susan. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 11AM, followed by internment at 2 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Ellen worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jackson and later the hat factory in Marble Hill. She liked to watch the cooking channel and collect cook books.
Loving survivors include four children, Jeff (Lora) Mayfield of Cape Girardeau, Greg (Mary Ann) Mayfield of Jackson, Carla (Kurt) LaFaire of Marble Hill and Karen (Ken) Condict of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren Hayley and Megan Mayfield, Derek and David LaFaire, April (Brian) Maloney, Missy (Damien) Davis, Meghan Allen and Kayla (Raymond) Mattingly; 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Rose (Jimmie) Marberry of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Mayfield; three siblings, Margaret Ann Sample, Colleen Thorn and Hollie Robert Cutright Jr. and special friend Lee Nanney.
Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Obituary Preview: Floyd Edward "Eddie" Hall, 90, of Cape Girardeau, MO., died peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
Eddie was raised and schooled in Benton, IL. He was a starting guard on the varsity BHS Ranger basketball team. While attending high school, he met his future wife, Sue. He graduated from Benton High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Also, he was a long-time employee of Suedekum Electronic Supply Company in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sue Hall. Their union was blessed with three daughters. They and their husbands are; Dr. Karie and Brad Hollerbach, Rebecca and Charles Decker, and Zara and Ron Seabaugh, all residents of Cape Girardeau, MO.
Eddie was known as "Pa", and will be remembered by his beloved grandsons and great-grandchildren; Tyson Seabaugh and his wife, Jennifer; Derrick Seabaugh and his wife, Rebekah, and their three children; Mikayla, Annika, and Keegan.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with his interment in Benton, IL.

He was born May 15, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Cecil and Wanda Smith Turbeville. He and Fay Owens were married August 19, 1967. Dennis was a 1966 graduate of Patton High School. After high school he went to work for Burlington Northern Truck Lines. He later received his Law enforcement certification and worked for Putman County Florida Sheriff's Department retiring in 2003. After retirement they moved to Patton and Dennis worked at Buchheit's in Jackson until he suffered a heart attack in 2009 which forced him into a full retirement. Dennis was a member of Little Whitewater Baptist Church. Loving survivors include his wife, Fay of 54 years, two sons, Mike (Elizabeth) Turbeville and Scott (Brandi) Turbeville all of Marble Hill; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a sister, Gloria (Bernard) Estanope of Pomona Park, Flordia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Virgil Petrus, a son, Tim Turbeville and a half-sister Janet Tittel. Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2022, from 10:00 AM until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Loving survivors include a son, Michael (Debbie) Pincksten of Cape Girardeau; three grandsons, Darren (Stacey) McIntosh of Jackson and Nathan (Amanda) McIntosh and Shannon (Jenna) McIntosh, both of Chaffee, Missouri; sister, Lawanda Carrigan of Joliet, Illinois; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Busciglio; a brother, William Morrison; an infant brother; her parents; and her stepmother, Grace, who raised her from age 4.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

He and Virginia Edwards were married April 14, 1973. She survives. Robert was a member of the Jackson Elks Lodge 2652 and the Local Laborers' 1104. Robert enjoyed deer and coon hunting and fishing. He also loved gardening. In addition to his loving wife, Robert is survived by two children; a step-daughter; and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a brother. To honor Robert, there will be a private graveside service.

He was born November 29, 1954, in New Madrid, Missouri, to Roy Alvin and Mary Brewer Johnson.
Larry served in the U.S. Army.  He was a welder, working several years at ARI in Jackson.
His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the love of his life.

J. “ Overy of Jackson; 20 grandchildren; Madison Brethold of Burfordville, Missouri, Bryan Johnson of Tampa, Florida, Morgan and Mason Hiett of Cape Girardeau, Raelynn Farrrar, Elizabeth Farrar, Danyel Farrar, Trey Farrar all of Altenburg and Levi Shoulders of Bushton, Kansas, Zachery and Cameron Overy of Jackson, Justin Shock, Megan (Jesus) Alvarez, Keston Shock, Amber Anderson, Erick Dawson, Matthew Powers, Jacob Rand, Heavenly Dawson, Elizabeth Johnson, all of Lakeland; nine great-grandchildren, Alexander, Alyssa, Millie, Savannah, Ryker, Ava, Bailey, Damien, and Skyler; three sisters, Linda (Neil) Lenard of California, Patricia (Craig) Petzoldt of St. Mary, Missouri, Crystal (David) Andrews of Jackson; and a former wife, Karan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two former wives, Diana and Donna; and a granddaughter, McKayla Overy.

Anna L. Vandiver - January 23, 1932 - March 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Anna L. Vandiver, 90, of Jackson, went to her heavenly home Monday, March 28, 2022.
Ann was born January 23, 1932, to Percy and Rosetta Hutchings Reddick in Cantwell, Missouri. She and Norman Vandiver were married April 17, 1948.  Three children were born to their union.  Ann particularly enjoyed dancing and one of her fondest memories is that she taught Norman how to dance.  They had been married 53 years when Norman passed away October 11, 2001.
Ann worked 24 years in housekeeping at Saint Francis Medical Center.  She formerly attended La Croix United Methodist Church with her daughter.
Affectionately called “Spicy Grandma Ann” by her granddaughter, Katy, Ann liked to cook, drink coffee all day, watch Wheel of Fortune, play Bingo, and go to the casinos in Cape Girardeau, Metropolis, and Las Vegas.  She also enjoyed sharing biscuits and gravy with her good friend, Larry Hayden.
Ann is survived by three children, Larry W. Vandiver of Desloge, Missouri, Norman Earl Vandiver Jr. and his wife Walli of Wichita, Kansas, and Pam Vandiver of Jackson; three granddaughters, Tammy (Robert) Gunnell, Taryn (Phillip) Odler, and Stacy (David) Loenneke; a grandson, Msgt. Scotty A. Miget and wife Lisa; seven great-grandchildren, Jesse, Colin, Ethan, Alex, Katy, Kayla and Addie; a sister, Naomi Hulsey; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Reddick; a brother-in-law, Homer “Frog” Black; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Estelle (Lib) LaHay and Andrea “Andi” Black; a brother, Howard Reddick; and a brother-in-law, Paul Hulsey.  Her favorite companion was her late peek-a-poo, Misty, who she often spoke of, and dearly loved and missed.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 9:30 AM to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.  Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Josh Boley officiating.  Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

She was born October 19, 1967, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Calvin Cleveland and Dorothy Bangert Phillips. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
Holly grew up in Jackson, Missouri.   She and Ralph Drum, Jr. were married May 18, 1991, and they celebrated 30 years of joyful marriage.
Holly graduated from Jackson High School in 1986 and received her bachelor’s degree in 1991 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She applied her education and recreation therapy skills at Southeast Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center.
Holly loved family, the outdoors, fishing, and she particularly had a love for horses, cats, and dogs.  She furthered her love of family and the outdoors by participating in the Girl Scouts, later serving as a troop leader.  She was passionate about supporting the Jackson High School Cross Country team.
She is survived by her husband Ralph Drum, Jr. and two daughters, Ashley (Paul) Ragsdale of Parks Hills, Missouri and Chelsea Drum of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; her mother Dorothy Phillips of Jackson; two sisters, Judy (Dale) Snyder of Jackson and Cindy Phillips of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her mother-in-law, Rose Drum of Friedheim, Missouri; and two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Kincy of Jackson, and Karen (Scott) Young of St. Peters, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Phillips, and her father-in-law, Ralph Drum, Sr.
Holly set an example of faith and courage to her family and friends as she dealt with Glioblastoma brain cancer since November of 2015. The family thanks the staff at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University, and St. Francis Medical Center for their loving care.

Obituary Preview: Scott A. De Weese, 51, of Daisy passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 at his home in Daisy. He was born February 25, 1971 in Jacksonville, Illinois, son of Ron and Marsha Ruch De Weesse.
Scott was a graduate from Southeast Highschool in Springfield, Illinois. He worked in flooring installation. Scott was an avid fisherman, hunter and St. Louis Cardinal Fan. In 2003 Scott moved to Daisy, Missouri where he built a home and became involved with a new passion of farming.
Loving survivors include his Mother, Marsha (Donald) Leckrone; father, Ron De Weese; a sister, Amy (Dion) Macklin; a niece, Paige De Weese and a nephew Jodey Ashford.
He was preceded in death by a brother Clay De Weese.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at McCombs Funeral home and Cremation Center.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Deacon Al Stoverink officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to American Lung Association.

Obituary Preview: Retha Mae McManus, 84, of Delta, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, at her home.
She was born April 18, 1937, to Henry and Lola (Kemp) Ballew in Williamsville, Missouri.  Retha was saved July 4, 1954, at Second Baptist Church in Fredericktown, serving several years as a Sunday School teacher and VBS leader.  She and Bobby Dean McManus were married August 6, 1960, at the church, and subsequently made their home in Delta.
Retha was a 1956 graduate of Fredericktown High School.  In 1960, she graduated from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.  She worked at Saint Francis Medical Center, Southeast Hospital, Chaffee General Hospital, and Life Care Nursing Center, retiring from Life Care Center in 1985. After retirement, she volunteered at Southeast Hospital.
Retha was an active member of First Baptist Church in Delta, faithfully serving as a teacher in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, coordinating bereavement meals, and the Operation Christmas Child program.
Loving survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bob McManus of Delta; two children, Penny Lipe of Delta and Robert McManus (Michelle) of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Mollie Fields, Zoe Lipe, Jeff (Allison) McManus, Paul McManus (Alexandria), Scott (Olivia) McManus, Sidney (Ashlyn) McManus; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Gass of Cape Girardeau and Ella Dee (Claude) Jinks of Houston, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren, Penelope, Payten, Wyatt, Heidi, Lincoln, Rhett, Lane, and Lyla.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kaye and Brenda Faye McManus; seven siblings, Earl, Herschel, Howard, Henry, James, and Bill Ballew, Ruby Schmidt; and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2022, and from 9 a.m. to service time, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Delta.

Cheryl enjoyed camping, rides on the side by side, and shopping.  She loved watching her grandchildren play sports and spending time with her family.
In addition to her loving husband of 47 years, Cheryl is survived by a son, Ryan (Brittany) Sides of Jackson; three grandchildren, Cameron, Autumn, and Kylie Sides, all of Jackson; two brothers, Terry (Joyce) Penny of Jackson and David (Roxie) Penny of Cape Girardeau; three brothers-in-law, Lynn (Anita) Sides, Marcus Sides, both of Jackson and , David (Cindy) Sides of Burleson, Texas; five sisters-in-law, Donna (Leon) Aufdenberg of Burfordville, Geta (Steve) Parker and Gaye Smith, both of Jackson, Nina (George) Dickerson of Millersville and Brenda Sides of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cheryl is preceded by a son, Todd Sides; her parents; a brother, Allyn Penny; and two brothers-in-law, Gary and Stephen Sides.
Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2022, from 11 AM until time of service at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Memorial Service will be at 1 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Apple Creek Cemetery in Pocahontas.
