Marjorie was born August 16, 1938 in Elyria, Ohio to parents George Johannsen and Lois Heath who died during childbirth. She was then raised by Lorraine Johannsen who became her Mother. Marjorie married the love of her life Fred Hines October 7, 1961 and she made West Salem her home. She kept and cherished the books from Fred’s welding business. She was always there taking care of the house and her children. She loved spending time in her flower garden, reading, painting and being with her family, especially her grandkids.
Marjorie leaves behind two children: Allen Hines (Renita Alexander) and Judy (Brian) Reed, both of West Salem; three grandchildren: Jessica (Bobby) Griffith of West Salem, Kelsey (Mat) Schaefer of Red Haw and Allison (Zach) Noble of Wooster; three great grandchildren: Camden, Piper and Charlotte and sister Connie Mcroberts of Litchfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Bruce Johannsen.

She was born June 16, 1955 in Cleveland to Alan and Catherine (Church) Ewing.
She graduated from Medina High School in 1973. Venis retired from Sealy Mattress in Medina where she was a seamstress.
She was a member of the West Salem  United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Venis enjoyed spending time with Betty, shopping, sewing, doing crafts, her pets and church activities.
Venis will be missed by her family and extended family.

Obituary Preview: Vivian L. Millott, 79, of Ashland, formerly of North Ridgeville died Monday, May 18, 2020 at Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. Vivian was born in North Ridgeville on March 15, 1941 to parents Robert and Mary (Ely) Lyons. She married her husband of 50 years, Roger Wayne Millott on September 24, 1961. He died previously in 2012.  Vivian worked many jobs but one of her longest jobs was being a wife, a homemaker and helping run the dairy farm where they raised Holstein cattle. She enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and working outside in her flower and vegetable gardens.
Vivian is survived by her children: Corrine (Michael) Miller, Spencer, Michelle Napoli, Florida, William Millott, Ashland; grandchildren: Benjamin Miller, Zachary (Courtney) Miller, Jillian Miller, Abigail (Bradley) Pondage, Paul Napoli, Adam (Jeanette) Napoli and Brendan Millott; great grandchildren: Easton Miller, Olivia Meyer, Owen Meyer, Annabelle Miller, Elliott Miller, Conrad Napoli, Hudson Millott, Dahlia Millott and Roger Miller and a sister, Elizabeth Peichert of Florida. In addition to her husband, Roger, Vivian is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Robert and William Lyons

Obituary Preview: James A. Pierson, of Seville, Ohio passed away on Sunday May 10, 2020. He was born January 7, 1963 in Elyria, Ohio to James and Norma Pierson. He graduated from Northwestern High School in West Salem, OH in 1981.
After serving in the U.S. Army, James worked jobs that kept him on the road most of the time. He preferred jobs that offered solitude and allowed him to keep moving. He also worked as an app developer.
While James was always very quiet, he had a sense of humor he shared with those he loved. He was generous with family and friends and was never too busy to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed sharing his love of music, tech gadgets, and popcorn with his friends and family.
He leaves behind a father, James, and stepmother, Anna of West Virginia; a brother, Mike, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Laura Smith and her husband Larry and their two children, Garrett and Brenna, all of Missouri; and two stepbrothers, Rob Johnston and his children, of Colorado and Chuck Johnston and his family, of North Carolina; and many more cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma (Draper) Pierson, and a brother, Rodney Pierson.  A graveside memorial service is planned for June 13, 2020 at 1 p.m. at West Salem Cemetery, West Salem, Ohio for all family and friends. Obituary Preview: Kevin C. Rogers, 56, of New Pittsburg passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2020 after a courageous, 6 year battle with cancer. Kevin was born on May 12, 1963 in Lodi to Carl and Vicki (Vargo) Rogers. He graduated from Triway High School in 1981. He was a self-employed contractor.
He was an amazing partner, father and papaw and was a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and all things outdoor. His grand babies were his pride and joy and he loved his large blended family. He had a smile and laughter that was contagious. His love and kindness, knew no end.
Kevin is survived by his best friend and life partner Chantele Mullins; children Dustin (Amy) Rogers, Shane Rogers, Zac Rogers, Justin, Tyler and Ashleigh Moore; 21 grandchildren: Benjamin, Jocelynn, Bronson, Mia, Kinsley, Karsen, Jacob, Madalynne, Mallarry, Maziyah, Mylah, Khayden, Bently, Alexis, Colton, Haizley, Ryleigh, Liam, Jaxon, Brice and Blake; Mother Vicki Norris; Brothers Ryan (Linda) Rogers, John (Molly) Rogers and Adam (Katherine) Rogers.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Eloise Rogers and Carl and Ida Vargo and his father Carl “Butch” Rogers Jr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Masci and the staff from LifeCare Hospice for all their help through everything. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Obituary Preview: Carl M. Arman, 57 of Wooster died suddenly in his home on April 28, 2020. Carl was born in Wooster, Ohio on June 12, 1962 to parents Charles and Madge (McDougal) Arman. He graduated from Northwestern High School in 1980. Carl worked at Nick Amster Workshop as a Janitor for many years. He enjoyed airplanes, building models, collecting metal, playing frisbee, taking walks in nature and spending time with animals especially cats. His nickname was Electric because he was always full of energy. He had a heart full of character. Carl’s personality was one that could only be described as being the “Best of Us”. He was kind and loved by everyone that he met. Many people said that “there was just something about him that made him very likeable.”
Carl is survived by his siblings; Scott (Bonnie) Mendenhall, Penny Mendenhall – Stone, Mike (Char) Mendenhall, Rick (Barb) Mendenhall, Sue Mendenhall, Keith (Kara) Mendenhall, Dennis (Lorie) Mendenhall, Carolyn Canniff, Melinda (Ryan) Gray, Blake Boreman, Tom Mendenhall and many cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Madge Arman, Jay and Finn Mendenhall and brother Stephen Boreman.

She is survived by her Daughter: Betty (Donald) Wine of West Salem; Step Children: Phillip (Deanna) Kimpton, Bill (Vickie) Kimpton, Margret Long, Barbara (Mike) Castronova, Ralph Lawrence, William Kimpton; Brother: Ralph Johns; Sister: Shirley Thomas; Grand Children: Sharon (Greg) Vance, Tracy Wine, Zach Kimpton, Damon Lawrence, and Cody Lawrence; five Great Grand Children and three great  great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Angie Scott; Brother, Jene Lawrence; Husband, Alfred Kimpton and Step Son, William Kimpton.

Surviving Bradley is his wife; sister, Veronica (John) Chester, Arizona; 2 nieces, Nicole Lynn Stenger and Jennifer Lynn Benes; 3 Great-Nephews, Jordan Benes, Buddy Houtkooper and Aron Houtkooper. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Obituary Preview: Paul L. Eicher, 93 of West Salem died March 27,2020 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster. Paul was born December 10, 1926 in Wooster, Ohio to parents Charles and Maude (Barnard) Eicher. Paul served in the US Army in World War II. He then came home to marry the love of his life of 73 years Dolores (Totten) Eicher on February 16, 1947. Paul was a devoted husband, a loving father and a dedicated farmer. Paul was very active in his community. Some of his memberships include; Congress Community Church with his wife Dolores, Congress Community Church Board, Congress Cemetery Trustee, Northwestern School Board for 12 years, the Equity Board, James Stevenson American Legion Post 499, Triple Nickel Post 555, Color Guard member at the National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio Guernsey Association, Ohio DHIA Board, Ohio Holstein Board, and Habitat for Humanity and  participated in mission trips to Gulfport, Mississippi after hurricane Katrina. Some prestigious awards Paul received were the Farmer of the year from the State of Ohio in 1956 and the Ohio Department of Aging 2012 Joined Hearts in Giving Award.
Surviving Paul, are his wife, Dolores (Totten) Eicher; children: Connie Franks of Wooster, Pat (Steve) Knight of West Salem, Chuck (Sara) Eicher of West Salem and Rob (Carrie) Eicher of Boardman; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathy Wilkes; and infant daughter Barbara Ann.
Due to the current health crisis the family will be having a private family funeral on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem. Pastor Tadd Sponseller will be officiating the service. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem. There will be Memorial Celebration of Life Service at a later date for the public. Tina graduated Ashland High School in 1976 and then from the OSU Mansfield Branch with an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked as a teacher’s aide at West Salem Elementary school and then at Northwestern Elementary school when the schools merged. She ended her working career at Phantom Fireworks where she was the Assistant Manager for over 10 years.
Tina loved her all of her family and her dogs very much. Tina was a fan of all types of sports. She loved watching the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes but her favorite was the Cleveland Indians. When her children were in school, she was always there cheering them on.
Tina is survived by three children: Allison Smith and her husband Aziz Sabuwala, Charlotte, NC; Nicholas Smith, West Salem; Stephanie Smith and Husband David Yambor, of Norton Grandchildren: Cyrus and Lincoln Sabuwala; Brother Rod (Cindy) Petry,of Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Obituary Preview: John Vincent Grogan Jr. was born October 11, 1956 at Gassaway, West Virginia. To John V. Grogan Sr. and Marguerite Armentrout Knight-Grogan. He went to be with our savior, grandparents, his father, uncles and friends on Saturday March 21, 2020. He had a life filled with family that he loved and his work. He enjoyed a brief retirement, with his wife in beautiful West Virginia and South Carolina. He also loved rides in the country on his Harley Davidson with his wife. The two of them found churches open while they were on their rides and they would stop for their services. Every piece of mail that John would send to his Mom would have God Bless America on the envelope. Today his family firmly believes he is having a reunion with the Lord and his family that had gone before him.
John is survived by his wife, Catherin;, step daughter, Dana and two grandsons: James and Marshall; his wonderful mother in law, Corrine Beeler of Canal Fulton, OH; his daughter, Katie and two granddaughters; two sons; mother, Marguerite Lons of Lodi, OH; brother, Joseph of Lodi, OH; brother, Tommy (Janet) Knight of Medina, OH; brother, Forrest Russel and Liza Knight and their children of Rittman, OH; sister, Joyce Daugherty of Lodi; a special uncle and aunt, John E. Armentrout and Margaret of Berkley Springs, West Virginia; Nephew, David Knight of Wadsworth, OH; and many other family and friends.
Due to the current health crisis a private family service was held Friday, March 27, 2020 at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Lester Buttolph officiating the service. He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Sharon A. (Gerber), brother, David (Jeri) Erwin (Westerville), son, Jeffery S. Erwin (Col), Granddaughter, Valerie Beyer (Col), grandsons, Joseph (Desiree) Beyer (Prospect), and Nicholas A. Beyer (Col), 4 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He loved his family, friends, fishing, bowling, vacationing, and The OSU Buckeyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna J. Burchett, and daughter, Christine (Erwin) Laird.

Brian was born June 6th, 1954 to parents Albert and Patricia (O’Brien) Anglin in Rockville Centre, New York. He married his wife Penny who had been with for over 40 years. With Brian being sick for the last 10 years he was not able to get out and do much. But he still enjoyed watching his Browns football and Indians baseball.
Brian leaves behind his wife, Penny (Madeline) C. Anglin; Children, Amanda (Josh) Leonard, Joshua (Jenny) Anglin, Michael Aikman and girlfriend, Alexis Young,& Jamie Aikman  and boyfriend, Brandon Lemmerman and Brad Davis; Grandchildren, Bryson, Ily, Kily, Joshua, Gracie, Haley, Destin; Brother Chris (Donna) Anglin; Sister Sheila (Bill) Gregg and many other family members. Brian’s parents and Brother Timmy Anglin preceded him in death.

Susan M Morris - November 12, 1932 - January 27, 2020

Obituary Preview: Susan Mae Morris was born to Nina and Wilbur Smith in West Salem on November 12, 1932. She died at Avenue at Wooster in the care of LifeCare Hospice. She graduated from West Salem High School in 1950, and as a registered nurse from the Ashland Samaritan School of Nursing in 1953.
She was married to Weldon (Woody) Morris on August 22, 1953. They had three children: Diana Tennant, Glenna Morris (Ron Fross), and Brett (Brenda) Morris. She is also survived by one grandson; Cody (Karmen) Tennant, and great-granddaughters; Alysa and Rosie, Twin brothers; Bob and Bill (Annette) Smith; nieces and nephews.
Sue enjoyed working as a nurse especially in pediatrics which she did at Wooster Community Hospital and for Dr. Roger Moyer at the Wooster Clinic. She also held other positions in nursing homes, doctor’s offices and at the Ashland Samaritan Hospital. She worked in Florida as a visiting nurse when she went to care for her mother in 1983, and as a volunteer at Viola Startzman Clinic after she retired.
Her special enjoyments were reading, spending time with her dogs, and gardening. In her last two years Bob Taylor brought his dog, Mandy, and Sue’s “old” dog Joey III to visit nearly every day which was the highlight of her day.

She married Leonard J Bunyak Sr on October 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2019.
Dorothy was a homemaker and 4-H advisor in Medina County for many years. She enjoyed  teaching the children  how to accomplish goals through their 4-H projects. She raised horses  on their farm where she enjoyed going horseback riding.
She is survived by her sons, Leonard Bunyak Jr., Doug Bunyak who she raised and Carl Bunyak, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sue Arnold, grandson, PJ, a brother and a sister.
A Memorial Service will be Friday March 6, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Celebrant, Victoria M. Devore officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Gibbs, parents, step son, Michael Gibbs, brothers, Larry, William and Kevin Bachmann, brother-in-law, Ralph Matheis, and her dogs, Pepper, Rhodi, Lexi and Sassy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee, of 53 years, in 2008. He is survived by two sons; Larry Wayne (Betty) West and James Allen (Lora) West; three grandchildren; Michael West, Jessica West and Jake (Brooke) West; two brothers, Robert (Diane) Lovelady and Tommy (Joyce) Lovelady and a sister, Toney Cole and many nieces and nephews.
Larry grew up in Alabama, moved to Cleveland to find work as a teen, met and married Cora Lee and had been an Ohio resident all except one year (Tennessee) since that time. Larry grew up having never met his biological father, but the most important moment of his life was when he repented of his sin and met his Heavenly Father through the grace of and his faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in 2000. He lived the last 20 years as a changed, redeemed and forgiven, not a perfect man. He was reunited with His Lord and Savior in his eternal home last Saturday. He worshipped and served His Savior since his salvation time at First Baptist Church in West Salem, Ohio.

Bernadette loved her grandchildren and enjoyed shopping for them. She spent many hours in her vegetable and flower gardens. She is survived by her husband James; children: Mark (Tanna) Kaniecki of Centerburg, David (Ann Marie) Kaniecki of Westlake, Jacqueline Kaniecki of Akron; six grandchildren; sisters: Connie (Ken) Ingram, Mary Lou (Pete) Nedbalski, Laurie (Thomas) Larkin; brothers: John Stypa and Tony Stypa; and sister in law: Gingy Stypa. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joseph Stypa, Gerard Stypa and Paul Stypa.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday January 7, 2020 at 10:30AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Fathers Thomas Stock and Rod Kreidler officiating. Dennis enjoyed astronomy; he loved going to star parties and would travel many miles to go to one. He had even made his own reflector telescope that turned out better than many of the expensive store-bought ones. He enjoyed playing chess so much he earned his master’s title. Dennis was a musical man; he knew how to play the harmonica and the guitar. He even was a State Champion at marbles. He was also a man who loved to share stories about his adventures in life.
Dennis leaves behind his wife, Judith Stark; Children, Denise Shamp of Burbank, Robin (Gail) Shell of Wooster, Jonathan (Ann Marie) Shell of Wooster; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; cats, Purcey and Esmeralda.
