Obituary Preview: Catherine Lea Mathis, daughter of Dorothy and Lee Bloomfield of Essex, Missouri was born on December 27, 1954, in Sikeston, Missouri. She went to her Heavenly home on May 19, 2024, at the age of 69 in Wappapello, Missouri.
Cathy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, David Mathis of 50 years; her children Ambre and late husband Mark Curran of Benton, Missouri; Lauren and husband Bruce Starks of Benton, Missouri; siblings Debbie and husband Terry Bowling of Farmington, Missouri; Beth and husband Mike Smith of Houston, Texas; Lee and Deanna Bloomfield of Gulfport, Mississippi; Grandchildren, Zach and wife Amanda Curran of Columbus, Ohio; Madalyn and husband Alan Lockhart of Joplin, Missouri; Jacob Curran of Phoenix, Arizona; Maurice Davis (Shelby Eichhorn) of Jacksonville, Florida; Colton Starks and Camden Starks of Benton, Missouri and several loving lifelong friends and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Dorothy and Lee Bloomfield; stepfather, Fred Gamble; father and mother-in-law, Vernon and June Mathis; son-in-law, Mark Curran; and grandchild, Xaiden Starks.
Cathy graduated from Richland High School in 1973. While being a military spouse with her husband, she was very active in the military community as well as the communities in Dexter, Missouri and Talihina, Oklahoma.
Cathy loved to watch all wildlife, especially “momma raccoon” on her back porch with her husband, David. She enjoyed watching all sports, but her favorite to watch was the St. Louis Cardinals and The Blues. She was most famous for her “sugar cookies.” Her most favorite title of all was “Mom-Mom.” She was Mom-Mom to not only her grandchildren but to all the people she came into contact with.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Obituary Preview: Betty Acord, daughter of the late Cecil Colin Snider and Rose Fields Snider, was born on March 10, 1933, in Charter Oak, Missouri, and departed this life on May 17, 2024, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 91 years.
Mrs. Acord was a former owner of the Airport Café and Pete’s Café in Dexter, Missouri, she was a former cook for the Hickory House in Dexter, and she was a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and fishing.
On June 9, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Alfred Acord. Mr. Acord preceded her in death on October 29, 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Acord of Dexter, Missouri, Stanley Acord and wife Katherine of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Stephen Acord and wife Cynthia of White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico; by three daughters, Irma Sanders, Jeanette Layton, and Laura Acord, all of Dexter, Missouri; and by fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Otis “Cub” Snider; and by three sisters, Alma Ive, Alta Burns, and Vivian Mares.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Gary Cossey officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

Jimmie Ray Adkins - August 16, 1934 - May 15, 2024

Obituary Preview: Jimmie Ray Adkins, son of the late Raymond Adkins and Vivian Brown Adkins, was born on August 16, 1934, in Bernie, Missouri. He departed this life on May 15, 2024, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 89 years.
Jim was united in marriage to Reba “Jeri” Kyle on February 11, 1956, in Bloomfield, Missouri, and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Adkins resides at their home in Dexter, which they built in 1972.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son Dean Adkins of San Ramon, California; daughters Kim Pounders of Little Rock, Arkansas and Dana Neis and husband Mark of Eudora, Kansas; by his sister Judy Gregory of Dexter, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan and Anna Pounders, John and Krissy Adkins, and Trevor and Carter Neis; and by his great grandson Tommy Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was a talented man, starting his career as a graphic artist / technical illustrator for Ozark Airlines and then McDonnell Aircraft where he worked on illustrations for the Project Mercury flight manual. Jim was also an architectural designer, and owned and operated Delta Components truss plant for 25 years. He pursued his artistic talents by painting, drawing, duck decoy woodcarving, woodworking and woodturning. Jim perfected basket illusion woodturning of SW Indian basketry, becoming the best in the art, teaching his craft to many woodturners across the country.

Ms. Mayner had worked for the Sheltered Workshop in Dexter, Missouri, and she attended Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter. She loved working and drawing pictures of diesel trucks and cats, and she enjoyed helping her niece.
She is survived by her niece, Ashley Keith and husband Shawn of Dexter, Missouri; by three brothers, Bobby Mayner of Dexter, Missouri, Billy Mayner of Tampa, Florida, and Loyd Mayner of Tupelo, Mississippi; by two great-nieces, McKenzie Keith, and Shawna Keith; and by her great-nephew, Logan Keith.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Skiles, and Pearl “Midge” Island.
Visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  Funeral services will then be conducted at the Lighthouse Christian Church on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating.

Obituary Preview: Larry Delay, son of the late George Delay and Lorene Hobbs Delay, was born on December 13, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life on May 13, 2024, at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Delay was a former member of the Missouri National Guard, and a former supervisor for Federal Mogul in Malden, Missouri. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved gardening and working in the yard.
Larry was a loving husband for 58 years, he was united in marriage to Carol Cox on August 28, 1965, in Circle City, Missouri. Mrs. Delay survives of their home in Dexter.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Angie Fischer and husband Jeff of Jackson, Missouri; by two brothers, George Delay of St. Louis, Missouri, and Don Delay of Marietta, Georgia; by two sisters, Loretta Stedman of Three Oaks, Michigan, and Carol Ann Sifford of California, Maryland; by six grandchildren, Taron Jordan of Dexter, Missouri, Coley Leimbach of St. Louis, Missouri, Brady Fischer of Jackson, Missouri, Logan Fischer of Kingsbay, Georgia, Matt Jordan of Springfield, Missouri, and Rusty Jordan of Springfield, Missouri; and by four great-grandchildren, Gabby, Liam, Harmony, and Rylan.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Delay and Jean Christian.

Obituary Preview: Barbara Rice daughter of the late Homer Montgomery and Imogene Malone Montgomery was born on July 13, 1943 in Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life on May 12, 2024 at the Prairie View Skilled Nursing Home in Bloomfield at the age of 80.
Mrs. Rice worked as the secretary to the principal for Bloomfield Elementary Public School and was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Bloomfield. She enjoyed playing cards with “The Golfers”. She loved all things Bloomfield and could be found supporting the Wildcats every time they had an event. She was a member of the Bloomfield Alumni Association. She was the definition of a social butterfly and absolutely loved people.
On May 27, 1961 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Dale Rice in Aquilla, Missouri. Mr. Rice preceded her in death on July 3, 1998.
She is survived by her son Loyd Rice and wife Heather of Bloomfield, Missouri; by her daughters, Rhonda Stogsdill and husband Rusty of Bloomfield, Missouri, Tammy Sells of Dexter, Missouri and Jennifer Hampton of Dexter, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Jake Rice and fiancé Morgan, Joe Rice and wife Maycie, James Rice, Drew Shipman and wife Lynn, Joey Guiling and wife Kara, Chris Guiling and wife Pam, and Madilyn Hampton; and by eight great-grandchildren, Miles Shipman, Kennedy Shipman, Tanner Guiling, Chase Guiling, Levi Guiling, Reagan Guiling, Will Guiling and Addie Guiling.
Other than by her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Montgomery, and by twin grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Trinity Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the Trinity Methodist Church in Bloomfield with Dale Rogers and Steve Koerner officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

On July 14, 1962, in Jackson, Tennessee, he was united in marriage to Melba Robey. Mrs. Duty survives of their home in Deer Park, Texas.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, Kevin Duty of Sikeston, Missouri; by his daughter, Vikki Duty of Deer Park, Texas; and by two grandsons, Derrick McNeil of Deer Park, Texas and Wade Duty of Dexter, Missouri.

She is survived by two sons, Glen R. Horton and wife Dina of Eagle Pass, Texas and Paul G. Horton and wife Laura of Marked Tree, Arkansas; by two daughters, Jackie Horton of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Dian Kauble of Dexter, Missouri; by three sisters, Betty Hoggard of Chandler, Texas, Shirley Redding of Caraway, Arkansas, and Shelby Heeb of Harrisburg, Arkansas; by five grandchildren, Tim Kauble, Tori Johnson, Adam Horton, Alina Horton, and James Horton; and by four great-grandchildren, Georgia Kauble, Kylie Horton, Allye Horton and Eli Horton.
Other than by her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Warren and Paul Brown Jr.; and by her sister, Bonny Brewer.

Lewis Guthrie of Cave City; daughters, Leah Guthrie of Cave City, Mandy (Brian) Crowe of Batesville, and Mica (Caleb) Kirkpatrick of Trenton, TN; granddaughters, Hannah Spence, Makayla Spence, Emma Crowe, Addie Mae Crowe, and Ella Crowe; sister, Ellujean Thacker; and brother, James (Rita) Guthrie; and many other relatives and friends.

Marlene was retired but had worked several jobs throughout her life, including Arvin's as well as construction. She was also a member of the Corner Gospel Fellowship of Bernie, Missouri. Marlene enjoyed fishing, riding the back roads and just spending time with her family and friends.
Marlene is survived by two daughters, Christina Craft of Dexter, Missouri and Natalie Robison (Dinker) of Dexter, Missouri; by four brothers, Bill Craft of Bernie, Missouri, Danny Craft (Sherry) of Malden, Missouri, Robert Craft (Sheila) of Bernie, Missouri, and David Craft (Karen) of Dexter, Missouri; four sisters, Linda Strickland of Bernie, Missouri, Patricia Riddell (Charlie) of Campbell, Missouri, Marilyn Rushing of Dexter, Missouri, and Kayeela Sugg of Dexter, Missouri: four grandchildren Tyler Thornton, Peja Thornton, Levi Kestner and LeeOnnah Kestner.
Other than by her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike Craft and Keith Craft; and one grandson, Taylor Thornton.
There will be a celebration of life conducted on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at 14008 County Road 403, Dexter Missouri. This event will be to celebrate Marlene's life, share laughs and stories. This event is open to anyone that would like to attend.

On February 16, 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert Mouser. Mr. Mouser preceded her in death on August 20, 2013.
She is survived by her son, James White of Dexter, Missouri.

Mr. Davis was the former owner of Imperial Floor Covering in Morehouse, Missouri, for 21 years. He attended Westside Baptist Church in Dexter and was a resident of Dexter. He enjoyed crappie fishing at Reelfoot Lake, going to his cabin in Doniphan to deer hunt, mowing his yard and hauling grain.
On June 4, 1960, in Painton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Peggy Jones. Mrs. Davis survives of their home in Dexter.

On April 3, 1950, she was united in marriage to James Gregg Miller, Sr., in Piggott, Arkansas. To this union three children were born, Deborah Scott Miller Stidham (Mark), James Gregg Miller Jr. (Melanie) both of Dexter, Missouri, and Mary Beth Miller Williams (Rod) of Neosho, Missouri.
Mildred loved being a grandmother to James Scherer, Jason Stidham, Brent Stidham, Brandon Miller, Lauren Miller, Elliot Duckworth, and Zanna Duckworth; and great-grandmother to Lily Scherer, Holly Scherer, Callum Scherer, Holland Stidham, Kynlee Miller, Brock Miller, Landry Miller, Brody Duckworth, Emery Duckworth, and Sylas McCain.
Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim; grandson, Jason Stidham, and son-in-law, Mark Stidham.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Jewell Teets, Amos McCain, Aaron McCain, W.A. McCain, and John Quincy Adams.
