He was born on September 6, 1937, in Morton, IL, to John G. and Ethel (Bratton) Rassi. He married Connie A. Schaeffer on March 10, 1962, in Peoria, IL. She passed away on June 2, 2018.
Surviving are his children, Greg (Tina) Rassi and Renetta (James) Baker, both of Metamora; four grandchildren, Samantha (Jake) Weston, Alexis (Mike) Oliver, Rachael Rassi, and Cameron Rassi; four great-grandchildren, Rylee, Odin, Alice, and Della; and sister, Ruth McHenry of Germantown Hills, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Roy Rassi, Ray Rassi, Don Rassi, and Wayne Rassi, and brother-in-law Bob McHenry.
John was a trucker in the transportation industry.

Surviving are his wife, Jodi of Metamora; son, Roger (Terri) Rassi of Peoria; daughter, Bobbi Jo (Rodney) Robison of East Peoria; daughter-in-law, Rosalie Rassi of Washington; four grandchildren, Jason (Liz) Rassi, Jessica (Jeff) Sinn, Randi Robison, and Levi Robison; three great-grandchildren; brother, John Rassi of Metamora; and sister, Ruth McHenry of Germantown Hills. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Allen Rassi, brothers, Roy Rassi, Ray Rassi, and Don Rassi; and brother-in-law, Bob McHenry.
Wayne was a U.S. Marine Veteran. He was a machinist for Metamora Woodworking for 42 years, retiring in July, 1994. Wayne enjoyed camping, bowling, scooters and motorcycles, playing guitar, and mowing grass at Oakwood Cemetery.

Larry was a rural newspaper delivery carrier for more than 40 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren in Lowpoint, IL. He enjoyed putting semi-truck models together and spending time with his animals.

Surviving are his children, Warren Nauman of St. Peters, MO, Gary (Carolyn) Nauman, Gregory Nauman, Kevin (Christina) Nauman, and Kathleen Nauman, all of Metamora, and Rebecca Knoblauch of Champaign, IL; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel Nauman, great-granddaughter Hailey Kline, sisters Lidwena Schierer and Hildegard Grebner, brothers Richard, Lambert, and Clifford Nauman, and half-brother Gilbert Alig.
Tony was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II. Anthony was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers.  He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Sorrows Council 3060.  Anthony was a life-long member of St. Mary of Lourdes Men's Club and later also joined St. Mary of Metamora Men's Club.  He was an American Legion Post 89 member.  He was an active farmer and a life-long member of the Farm Bureau.
Anthony loved gardening and teaching his grandkids to garden and love the outdoors.  He was a hunter and fisherman.  He loved to take his grandkids fishing and mushroom hunting with him.  He always enjoyed time with his family.  Anthony was an avid card player and could always be found with a deck of cards.  He loved playing euchre, canasta, feather, poker, and many others with family and friends.

She was born on May 25, 1930, in Greensburg, PA, to Grover C. and Mildred F. (Barr) Wendle. She married Edward Dodd Smith I on January 26, 1946, in Daytona Beach, FL. Betsy and Ed celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in January.
Surviving are her husband, Ed; daughter, Elisa C. (Craig) Wiedeman of Flagstaff, AZ; son, Edward Dodd II (Julie L.) Smith of Metamora; daughter, Cathy L. Rievers of Mattoon, IL; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Karen Sue Diebel and brothers, Raymond E. and John D. “Duke” Wendle.
Betsy served for 25 years as a leader and Neighborhood Chair for the Girl Scouts of America. She also served as the President, Black Partridge Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Over the years, Ed and Betsy enjoyed being members of Grace Presbyterian Church, Peoria; Christian Union Church, Metamora; and Faith Evangelical Free Church, Metamora. Betsy taught Vacation Bible School and sang in the church choir. Betsy was a homemaker and worked at the Metamora Grade School. She and Ed also served as docents at the Mennonite Heritage Center in Metamora.
Betsy loved cooking and gardening and she was an expert seamstress. She loved researching family genealogy and traveling with Ed. The couple’s adventures spanned the U.S. and Canada. Betsy hosted years of gatherings with friends and family. Her gift of hospitality ensured that everyone felt welcome in the couple’s home.

From childhood she had an unwavering faith in Jesus as her savior and was a member of the Cazenovia Mennonite Church in Cazenovia, IL. A very capable, steady woman, Louise was an R.N. and homemaker, working tirelessly with her husband in the family business. She had a heart to serve others sacrificially and her sweet disposition ministered to all who knew her.

Surviving are her daughter, Audrey (Mike) Haney of Mackinaw, IL; son, John (Marty) Lynch of Farmington, MO; daughter, Kimberly (Jim) Wegstein of Washburn; grandchildren, Rachel Frank, Max Haney, Calvin (Bri) Lynch, Drew Lynch, Devin (Nick) Grebner, Dustin Rich, Dillon Wegstein, and Kaylee Wegstein; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, John Knoll of Valpariso, IN and Larry Knoll of Lacon; and dear friend, Lloyd Crombie. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Knoll, and grandson Derek Lynch.
Vern graduated from LowPoint-Washburn High School. She began her working career at Jack’s Restaurant and Bowling Alley in Washburn. Throughout the years, she worked at State Farm, Lum’s, and other businesses. While her children were young, she provided child care for several children in her home. She retired from Snyder Village in Metamora where she was the laundry director.
Vern was proud to be a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served in a variety of roles, including President. Vern also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and visiting Alaska, which she was fortunate to do twice.

Charles was a welder and machine operator for Komatsu. He attended Living Faith Fellowship Church in Eureka. His joys were his four sons and their families. He was a true green and white Eureka Hornet fan, supporting programs throughout the community for decades. He enjoyed attending his boys, his grandkids, and his great-grandkids events. He had a true passion for classic cars and was a die-hard Dale Earnhardt fan. He always held on to his Southern Illinois roots and since his retirement enjoyed traveling there to study his ancestry and genealogy. He was proud of where he was from and loved passing that information onto his grandchildren.

Dick was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was the owner/operator of Dick Standard in Metamora starting in 1972 and then became the owner/operator of the Shell Gas Station in Metamora, retiring in October, 2000. Dick was a member of Christian Union Church in Metamora, Nash Car Club of America, DeSoto Motor Cars of Illinois, Metamora American Legion Post 89, and past member of the Metamora Fire Department.

Surviving are her husband, Joe of Metamora; three children, Daniel (Connie) Miller, Janice (Bruce) Bonetto, and LuAnn (Dave) Veatch; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Lyle and Harold, and one sister, Alice.
Mary worked at Caterpillar in the payroll department for six years and then left to raise her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, painting, crafts, and working at St. Mary’s church and school. She enjoyed attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s activities and teaching them how to cook, bake, and quilt.
Mary was a devout Catholic. She will be remembered for her 40 years of daily mass attendance and recitation of the rosary. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving are her three children, Kristal (Gary) Bachman of Metamora, Edward (Judith) Deininger of Washington, and Rich (Gayle Sturgis) Deininger of Washington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Velma Austin of Varna, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Diana Crumley.
Rose was a lifelong homemaker and worked for Community Care Systems in the 1990's.  Rose loved camping with her family at the family farm known as R and V Farms in Hennepin, IL. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and loved her family.  Rose especially enjoyed her Casino adventures with her dear sister Velma, niece Rhonda, and daughter-in- law Judy. Rose was beautiful, patient, and most of all a kind-hearted woman and her family will miss her deeply.

Surviving are his wife, Glennis of Metamora; three daughters, Elizabeth (David) Kacynski of Nashville, TN, Suzanne (Gregg) Hidden of Peoria, and Janet (Steven) Slape of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Jake, Mike, and Andrew Kacynski, Alison and Mitchell Hidden, and Molly, Heather, and Billy Slape; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Hillig of Bartonville; and one sister-in-law, Joyce Brunner of Morton. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Daniel Brunner, great-granddaughter, Amy Wallace, brother, Gary Brunner, and brother-in-law, Roland Hillig.
Bill was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard, an aircraft carrier that was a part of Bull Halsey’s 3rd Fleet in the Pacific Theatre. He graduated from Peoria Manual High School and from Bradley University with a bachelor and masters degrees in Education. Bill was a teacher for over thirty years and was also involved with coaching and sports officiating. He retired from Peoria School District in 1983, with most of his teaching done at Rolling Acres School. After his retirement, he worked for Libby’s in Morton, IL for six years.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and was active in many areas of church life. He assisted in building a new Presbyterian church in Morton when a dairy barn was converted into a beautiful church. Bill and Glennis joined Willow Hill United Methodist Church when they moved to Snyder Village. He was a volunteer “red coat” at Methodist Hospital for 17 years.
Bill loved his family and was so proud of what was accomplished by everyone. He and Glennis have lived at Snyder Village and have been so happy there, with all the friends they have met and the staff that works there.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving as a medic before his honorable discharge. Rich worked for Mitsubishi Motors and later was a caretaker for family members.

She was a 1955 graduate of Washington Township High School. Donna was the owner of the Gingerbread House Children's Clothing store in Washington for 25 years. She also served as the Vice President of the Washington Chamber of Commerce. Donna loved fishing, hunting, camping, and watching the Chicago Bears.

Chip owned and operated Fauber’s Hardwood Floors. He enjoyed barbecue smoke competitions with Laura, under the team name of Vintage Wieners. Chip took pride in creating his own custom made smokers. He loved animals, especially ones from the wild.

Obituary Preview: It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Scrivner announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the age of 90 years.
Bob passed away at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Bob had a long-standing relationship with God and was blessed with his faith to his dying breath. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges. Despite the pain, Bob stayed strong until the end.
Bob never focused much on himself. Family was the center of his life. Bob has been a major presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren. This strong, no-nonsense, good man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
Born during the Great Depression in 1931, Bob spent much of his formative years living on the family farm in Hamilton County, Illinois. He lived by the motto, “Use it up, wear it out, make-do, or do without.” Bob began working at age three when he was tasked with keeping snakes out of the chicken brooder house. Bob’s strong patriotism prompted him to join the military at age nineteen. He served as military police in the Air Force before he received an honorable discharge. After the Air Force, Bob built B-52 aircraft at Boeing. Bob’s independent spirit led him to become a long haul trucker. He traveled the U.S. visiting historic sites and national parks along the way. To be closer to home and his children, Bob took a job at Peoria School District 150. He was able to utilize his exceptional mechanical skills which included designing and crafting his own tools. His early work at District 150 entailed adapting school buses to safely transport students with special needs.
Bob’s life experiences made for great stories and he was a charismatic storyteller. He will be remembered for his independent spirit and dedication to his faith, family, and country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Duane Finch, sister, LaVeda Davies, and brothers-in-law, Dick Meismer, Mike Cawley, Mike Held, and Dave Davies.
Gordon was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a graduate of Lowpoint High School. He worked and retired from Caterpillar and also had worked as a welder at both DMI and Ulrich’s Products. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 89.
Gordon never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved being around and talking to everyone and always had a story to share. Gordon was a huge Metamora Redbirds sports fan and loved his St. Louis Cardinals. He lived for his yearly fishing vacations at Kimp’s Kamp on Dead Lake, Dent, MN. He enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their sports and other activities.

Surviving are his three children, Debbie Lindsey of Roanoke, Steve (Danette) Bellman of Secor, and Janet (Mark) Tol of Roanoke; two grandsons, Joshua (Michele) Tol and Jacob (Abbey) Tol; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Bryan) Willey and Victoria (Vlad) Novichenko; three great-grandsons, Noah, Owen, and Eli Willey; four great-granddaughters, Lauren Tol, Ellie Grace Tol, and Mila and Kaia Novichenko; three brothers, Lester (Edythe) Fairchild of Watertown, SD, Henry Fairchild and Edwin Fairchild both of Canby, MN; two sisters, Nina Alfaro of San Angelo, TX and June Pacleb, a missionary to the Phillipines; life-long friend, Jim Mathews of Canby, MN; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Judy, he was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law John Lindsey, two brothers, and two sisters.
Dan was a U.S. Army Veteran, proudly serving from 1953 – 1955. He was a farmer and rancher for over 50 years and had a love for his cattle. He was employed by Charles River Laboratories in Roanoke for 15 years. He participated in rodeos and annual cattle drives in Gary, SD and enjoyed roping. He was a life-time member of the American Legion and a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in East Peoria.
Daniel received a conservation award in Yellow Medicine County, Canby, Minnesota. He was president of Brandt Prairie Riders. An advocate of the cattle industry, Dan participated in the annual Crystal Springs Rodeo at Clear Lake, SD and also involved in riding in the Grand Entry of the rodeo, proudly displaying the American Flag. He was a member of the American Angus Association, American Simmental Association, American Polled Herford Association, and the Hampshire Swine Association. On Memorial Day, 2017, Dan was honored at Glad Tidings Church with the honorary award of the American Flag.
Dan will be missed by all. He loved his family and his church family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-laws and grandsons.

In his free time his hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, music, and spending time with his family and friends. He coached his daughter’s softball and soccer teams.
