Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Ghyslaine Colin, age 71, on Thursday May 16, 2024 at the Yeadon Nursing and Rehab.
Ghyslaine was born on June 13, 1952 in Jacmel, Haiti; she was the daughter of the late Antoine Colin and Noreza Jean. At the age of 18, she moved to Port-au-Prince, where she worked as a butcher and started her family.
In 2010, Ghyslaine moved to the United States to be with her children. Ghyslaine was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt; she will always be missed, but her memory will live on in her family and friends.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Guito Colin; and siblings, Leone Colin, Manie Colin, Antoinius Colin, Jean Robert Mane.
Ghyslaine is survived by her children, Dieune, Jacque, Kenson & Manoucheka Saint-Hilaire, Farah Merville, Godstar Jules;  her grandchildren, Charly, Dave, Dereck, Darwsent, Darween, Maykerlande, Shleïka, Bradley, Karl-jy, Klayguy, Jiyanne, Kenny, Elijah.
She is also survived by her siblings, Cleante Colin, Chilet Colin, St. Ger Colin, Portia Colin, Dieudone Desire, Magaly Eustache; and Daughter/Son-in-laws. Marie Darlene Saint-Hilaire, Djeny Jules, Yanick Francois, Andrick lubin, Idris Ali, Bubble Guy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mary attended Bishop Shanahan High School and was a 1972 graduate of Pierce Junior College. She spent almost forty years working in the insurance industry. Mary was married to Edward Ritter for fifty years and together they
had three children. Mary loved her yearly vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey. You would find her cheering on her favorite football team, the Philadelphia Eagles every game day. Mary’s love for black and white movies and English television broadcasts were unmatched. She loved spending time with her family and her six
grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, Edward Ritter; her children Nikki Van Horn (Jim), and Patrick Ritter, her grandchildren, Sean Ritter, Meghan Ritter, Zachary Van Horn, Dylan Van Horn, Alexander Van Horn,
and Ethan Van Horn.  She is also survived by her brother David McQuiston (Joanne).
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary McQuiston, siblings, Dennis and Patricia McQuiston, and her son, Christopher Ritter.

Obituary Preview: Patricia Marie Leonard, age 81 of Darby, passed peacefully Friday, May 10, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia and Darby, Patty was the daughter of the late George Morris and Margaret & William Lewis.
In 1991, Patty opened Patty‘s Kitchen, a luncheonette in Collingdale, which she owned and operated until 1996. She was also a longtime waitress at the Penn Pines Diner in Aldan.
In younger years, she enjoyed taking her children to horse shows and other equestrian events. Patty’s happy place was spending time during the summer at the Tamerlane Camprounds, socializing and playing Bingo at the campgrounds and the Wildwood Firehouse.
Mostly, Patty loved being with her family, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and her memory will live on in her family and friends.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 36 years, John Ellsworth Leonard, Sr.; her son, Andrew Leonard, Sr.; her grandson, Dalton; and her sister, Marjorie Bradley.
Patty is survived by her children, John Leonard, Jr., David Leonard, Sr., Trish (Kevin) Buckley; her grandchildren, John III (Vickie), Kaysee (JJ), Samantha, Kassidy, Eric Jr., Andrew Jr., David Jr. and Catie; and her great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, John IV, James III, Finnegan and Kayden. She’s also survived by her siblings, George (Jule) Morris, Jr., Andrew Giarraff; her sister-in-law, Lois Leonard; and many nieces and nephews, especially Margaret Brown.

Obituary Preview: Mary C. Sonefelt, age 100, passed peacefully Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home in Plush Mills Senior Living.
Born and raised in Altoona, PA, Mary was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (nee Fleck) Fochler. She and her husband settled in Darby, where they raised their family and were longtime members of Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
“Nan” as she was affectionately called by everyone, had previously worked at Clifton Precision for 15 years. In her leisure she enjoyed crocheting and baking her apple pies and Christmas cookies. She and her husband also traveled extensively throughout the United States and many other countries. However, it was the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren that was most precious to her.
In her most recent years at Plush Mills, she took pleasure in socializing with the other residents and often prayed the Rosary numerous times a day.
Along with her parents and siblings, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Sonefelt; her daughter, Kathleen Fraudorfer; and her sons-in-law, Joe Fraudorfer and James Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Wilson; 5 grandchildren, Jac Lynn Wilson Sharp, Jeanne Wilson Boulay, Joseph Wilson, Michael Fraundorfer, and Jill Fraundorfer Sodini; 9 great-grandchildren, Jake, Max, Maisy, Ivy, Mason, Layla, Alyssa, Noelle and Troy; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Sharon Korab, age 69, of Folcroft, passed peacefully with her children at her side Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.
Born and raised in Darby, Sharon was daughter of the late Allen L. and Georgia L. (nee Childs) Sims. Sharon would then marry Joseph, a sailor in the US Navy, and together they live on the Navy base in Norfolk, VA and started their family.
In 1984 she returned to Delaware County to be closer to family; where she worked for many years as a cook at the Towne House in Media and a longtime cashier at the Sunoco in Drexel Hill.
Sharon enjoyed relaxing at home, watching her favorite crime TV shows; and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend and loving cat mom to Jet, Fuzzy, Oreo and many others over the years. Her memory will live on in her family and friends.
Along with her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; and her brothers, Larry and Allen Sims.
She is survived by her children, Georgina “Aisha” Korab (Zain), Kenny Kingdon-Korab, Kendell Simmons and Meghan Dougherty who she embraced as her daughter; her grandchildren, Danny, Rahmir, Ziza, Zubair and Zalia; and her best friend, Wanda.

He was born in Haverford, Pennsylvania on April 15, 1957, to the late James Boyd Kelso and Mary Ann (Schaefer) Kelso.
Mark graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1975. He had recently retired from a career in truck driving with A.Marinelli & Sons that lasted over thirty years. Mark was a down-to-earth, tell-it-like-it-is man who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his son Darrell Kelso of Chevy Chase, Maryland; daughter Marissa Kelso of Noxen, Pennsylvania; and son Seth Kelso of Luzerne, Pennsylvania; sister Cynthia Smitheman of Broomall, Pennsylvania; brother Scott Kelso of Hillsborough, New Hampshire; Lisa Yaich of Aberdeen, Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and granddaughters.
A celebration of life will be held 11:30am on May 4, 2024 at the Outback Steakhouse located at 1118 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, PA 19064.

Willie M. Neal, Jr. - July 19, 1932 - April 07, 2024

Willie M. Neal, Jr., age 91, of Darby and formerly of Philadelphia, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at home with his family by his side.
Born, raised and educated in Greensboro, NC. Willie, also known to friends and family as “Neal” was the son of the late Maggie (nee Russell) and Willie M. Neal, Sr. He was an honorably discharged Korean War Veteran, who served as a medic in the Army.
After the service Neal moved to Philadelphia, where he worked as a Nurse at Einstein Hospital. It was while living in Philadelphia, Willie would meet, and later marry, a Miss. Clara Mae Hancock. Together they started their family, and raised their 5 children.
Over the years, Neal worked hard to support his growing family, he owned his own cab and auto body shop, and had worked at General Electric, before finally retiring from Brinks Security.
In his retirement, he enjoyed hanging with family and telling stories of his later days involving his cousin Pete, who also preceded him in death. Neal loved to joke around and laugh with his family. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother, and his memory will live on always in his family and friends.
Along with his parents, Neal was predeceased by his wife, Clara Mae Neal who transitioned in 2016; his daughter, Carla Simmons; son, Bert Neal (Valerie); and his sister, Peggy Neal.
He is survived by sister Mariam Little and children, Debra Donnell, Gerald (Rhea), Davida (Robert), Willie III (Jackie) and youngest daughter Janae Williams.
He was also the loving grandfather of Brandi, William “Boop”, Kolleen, Terronce, Kristina, Robert, Iesha, Shanise, Gerald, Gregory, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Funeral Services  Wednesday, April 24, 2024  at the Marvil Funeral Home, 1110 Main Street, Darby, PA 19023.
There will be a Viewing 10-11am and a Funeral Service will begin at 11am. Following the viewing relatives and Friends are also invited to join the family at Willie’s 2:30 pm Graveside Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.  There will not be a procession to the cemetery for safety, and family and friends planning to attend are
asked to arrive no later than 2:15pm at the cemetery, to join the procession in front of the Cemetery Office.

Obituary Preview: Joanne F. Wood, age 77, of Collingdale and formerly of Lower Chichester, succumbed to her Multiple Myeloma cancer battle Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at home.
Born in Chester, Joanne was the only child of the late Robert and Louise (nee Clifford) Mackey. Joanne was a longtime resident of the Lower Chichester area, where she and her late husband raised their family. Joanne moved to Collingdale to live with her son and his family, while she began her battle with cancer.
Joanne was retired from Acme Markets, where she was employed as a longtime cashier at the Claymont, DE Acme and the Granite Run Acme.  An avid reader, Joanne was a beloved mother and Mum-Mum. She especially enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her husband, John H. Wood. She is survived by her sons, Arthur Welch, Robert Wood and Steve Wood; her grandchildren, Celine, Alexis, Christina, Steve Jr. and Andrew; and her great-grandchildren, Mitchell Jr. and Scarlett.

Diana worked as a hairdresser, over the years she worked at many local salons including Hair Cuttery, Best Cuts and Kid's Cuts. She had also worked at Bed, Bath & Beyond in Springfield.
With a flair for style, Diana's creativity shone through in her eclectic love of art and design, evident in her home décor and wardrobe.  She found solace in the tunes of the 70's and cherished movie nights with her husband.
Diana was a beloved wife, she adored her brother and loved being an aunt to her nieces and new great-nephew. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Diana is survived by her husband, Will Bish; her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jean Marie Martin; her nieces, Brooke, Jenna and Casey; and great-nephew, Rylan James. She is also survived by her best friend, Tina and her loving Australian Cattle dog, Deoge.

James J. Bauer - April 13, 1952 - March 26, 2024

Obituary Preview: James J. “Jim” Bauer, age 71 of Collingdale, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 surrounded by his family at Lankenau Medical Center.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary Catherine (nee Buckley) Bauer. Jim grew up in Clifton Heights where he was a graduate of Clifton Heights High School.
An avid car enthusiast, who enjoyed restoring cars, Jim went to work in the auto industry following high school. He began his working career as an auto paint trainer for Sherwin Williams; he was also employed for many years at both Cicconi Auto Body and Keenan’s Auto as shop manager of the Philadelphia shops.
In 2006, opportunity knocked and Jim became a business owner, when he purchased J.B. Auto in Glenolden. It knocked again a few years later when Jim purchased Bower’s Auto in Clifton Heights, and even though it was spelled wrong he thought it was a good sign. In 2018 Jim retired, leaving his son to carry on the family business now correctly renamed Bauer Auto.
“Big Daddy,” a nickname he got a kick out of, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with his beautiful bride, Cathy. Together they enjoyed the perks of being “High Rollers” when Jim’s favorite Top Dollar machine was good to them.
A loving husband, father and pop, Jim’s memory will live on in his family and friends. He has been reunited with his beloved German Shepherds, Fred, Eddie, Charlie and Mary.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Catherine M. (nee Brown) Bauer; his children, Jim Bauer (Amy), Dan Bauer (Jenelle), Megan Bauer-Smith (Bruce) and step-daughter, Cindy Caffarella; his grandchildren, Keira, Mary Kate, Brayden, Danny, Allison, Anna, Madison, Sage, Gavin, Evan, Colin, Cailin, Zach, Brianna, Johnny; and great-grandchildren, Valerie, and one soon to come. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathie Herbster, Charles Bauer, Barbara McKenna; and many nieces and nephews.

Adelina was born on November 16, 1929, she was raised and educated in Grand-Goave, Haiti before moving to the United States with her late husband of over 60 years Rosemond, to raise their family.
Adelina was a beloved Wife, Mother and Gwanny to her grandchildren, great & great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two youngest daughters and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will rest in peace with her beloved husband, her mother, her siblings, her oldest daughter and two grandsons. All gone too soon, never will they be forgotten! May her journey to her “Father’s House” be as joyous as she had always hoped for!

Eileen was retired after 20 years from Springfield Hospital, where she had worked as a dietary aide. In her leisure she enjoyed spending time on her Kindle or watching her favorite soap operas.
She loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, that lovingly referred to her as Nanny. Eileen also looked forward to the weekly Saturday at Panera’s with her girlfriends from childhood.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend; and her memory will live on in her family and friends, always.
She is survived by her children, Michele Clark, Matthew Clark (Brittany Pupillo) and Angella Mihalak; and her grandchildren, Shyann, Steven, Dyllan, Matthew, Ethan, Forrest, Brianna and Jimmy. She was also survived by her sisters, Elaine, Patricia, Jennie, Catherine and Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine; and her daughter, Christina.

Obituary Preview: Alfred “Sonny” G. Ruggieri, age 86 passed peacefully Thursday, March14, 2024 at Little Flower Manor in Darby.
Born, raised and a lifelong resident of Darby, Alfred was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (nee Damian) Ruggieri. He was a graduate of Darby High School.
Sonny, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was an honorably discharged Army Veteran. Following his service, he worked as a machine operator at Slevin's Manufacturing Company in Lansdowne until his retirement.
A dedicated and active member of Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Sonny served the church for many years as an usher and volunteer. In his leisure, he enjoyed listening to Country music.
Along with his parents, Sonny was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Dyson.
He is survived by his brothers, Richard (Pat) Ruggieri and Thomas Ruggieri (Chris Pizzi). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: John M. Dougher, age 86 of Secane, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter in West Grove, PA.
Born and raised in Archbald, PA; John was the son of the late Howard and Margaret (nee Daley) Dougher.
John received his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University. Following, John moved to Philadelphia where he began working for the State of Pennsylvania as a Bank Examiner; a position he would hold for 40 years prior to his retirement.
It was while living in Philadelphia, John met and married Nancy. Together they settled in Sharon Hill and raised their family. He was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Church, and while his children attended school, John became a fixture at the Holy Spirit School Work Night, where parents volunteered to paint and maintain the school. He was also a Boy Scout Leader.
After his move to Secane, John became a member of St. Eugene Church. His other memberships over the years included, Treasurer of the PA Bank Examiners Union and the Board of Trustees of Sharon Bank.
John was very devoted to his family and had a strong work ethic. He had a quick wit and was always a great joke teller, making everyone laugh until they cried. He was an avid collector of model train and cars as well as many other collections. He always had a love for music including old time musicals, big band, Frank Sinatra and many other artists. He was also of course a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
Along with his beloved wife, Nancy C. (nee Gable) Dougher who died in 1991; John was predeceased by his grandson, Samuel Collington; and his sisters, Ann Kase and Kathleen Sandy.
He is survived by his children, John Dougher, Colleen (Steven) Fail, Molly (Dennis) Collington, and Christopher Dougher; his grandchildren, Melanie, Tommy, Ross & Olivia Dougher, Courtney & Nancy Fail, and Bailey Collington; and 2 great-granddaughters, Violet & Amelia. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret (Tom) Pidgeon and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Monday, March 18, 2024 at St. Eugene Church, 200 S. Oak Ave., Secane, PA 19018. There will be a viewing from 9:30-10:30am at church; and the  Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

Employment: Judy was a R.N. and was soon to retire from her work in Home Healthcare.
Along with her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother, James C. Dempsey.

Obituary Preview: Robert B. Kaut, age 73 of Garnet Valley and former longtime resident of Aldan, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 22, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Collingdale, Bob was the son of the late Joseph and Madeline (nee Quick) Kaut. He was a graduate of Collingdale High School where he was recognized as a standout in football, basketball and track and field. Bob also attended Drexel University.
Bob worked as an electrician, and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 98, until his retirement in 2010.
In younger years, Bob coached his children in the Aldan Boys & the Aldan Girls Clubs in various sports; and the Aldan Swim Club, where he also served as past president. Later as the grandchildren came along, Bob and Ginger never missed a game or event, for all of their 13 grandchildren.
Bob always made himself available to lend a helping hand to family and friends. Whenever someone needed electrical work done or some other task, Bob and his fellow “Silver Foxes” got the job done.
An Eagles fan, and longtime season ticket holder, Bob enjoyed golf and golfing trips with the guys. Also, for many years Bob and Ginger took many trips to the Outer Banks, camping and spending time with their family and friends in Sea Isle.
He was a beloved husband, father and pop-pop, whose memory will live on in his family always.
Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by his siblings Jim, Don and Joe Kaut.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ginger (nee Hagan) Kaut; his children, Kim (Jack) Bateman, Karen (Greg) Dearing, Kristie (Vince) Pennoni, Bob (Hope) Kaut; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Carly, Jack, Emily, Delaney, Jonathan, Claire, Abby, Matt, Ben, Zack, Kenna and Brennan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephew, cousins and dear friends.

Obituary Preview: Sandra L. "Sandy" Heacock (nee Stake), age 78, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Resorts at Chester River Manor.
Born and raised in Aldan, Sandy was the daughter of the late Ned and Kathryn Stake. She graduated from Lansdowne-Aldan High School and following high school received her Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel University and her Master’s in Education in Instructional Systems from Penn State University.
While working for Humana, Sandy moved to Kentucky and enjoyed living on her horse farm. During her time in Kentucky, she was nominated and awarded the title of a Kentucky Colonel, which is the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the governor. The role of an ambassador of good will and fellowship around the world, was second nature for Sandy, who will be remembered fondly for her caring heart and generous spirit.
Sandy then returned to Aldan, PA and begin working for PECO as an Instructional Systems Designer. She was very involved in her Aldan community as a longtime member and board member of both the Aldan Swim Club and the Aldan Town Watch. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Secane.
In later years, Sandy enjoyed retirement on the Chesapeake Bay, where she served as Board Secretary of the Bay View Estates; and enjoyed Jet Skiing; she was also an avid reader and loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David H. Heacock; sister, Susan Wylezik; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean & Tamara Heacock. She is also survived by her nephew and nieces, Aaron (Hope), Amanda, Abigail and Kathryn. Along with her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her sister, Linda Stake.

Portia received her Associates Degree from Philadelphia Community College in teaching and social work. She worked as a teacher at St. Charles Borromeo School in Philadelphia and The Miquon School. She also worked for 10 years at the Woodstock Family Center in Philadelphia, a shelter for women & children, where she oversaw the education program, provided trauma recovery and taught life skills.
She was an active member of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, where she worked as the Parish Secretary in the Rectory.
In her leisure, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlepoint and crocheting; her talent as seamstress created many dance costumes for her daughters, through the years. Portia had a loving, caring spirit which showed in her love and dedication to all children; in the schools she taught, in the neighborhoods she lived and especially her own family.
She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and teacher; but her most important titles were given to her by her grandchildren, Grandma & Momma, many of whom she helped raise and care for.
Portia is survived by her husband of 34 years, James McPhail; her children, Andre Watson, John Watson, Thonia Watson, Renard Watson, Bjorn Watson, David Allen, Martina McPhail and James McPhail; and numerous grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Bill was retired from Super Fresh (formerly A & P Markets), where he worked for over 30 years in the produce department. Outside of work, he enjoyed his favorite pastimes, including playing golf, shooting pool, and indulging his sweet tooth with his favorites, ice cream and chocolate bars.
A beloved father and pop-pop, Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and grand-doggies, especially at the family home in Cape May, NJ. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and dedication to family and country.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Esther (nee Keating) Bruce; his great-grandson, Xander Lee John; his parents, William A. and Eleanor (nee Floyd) Bruce; and his brother, Joseph Bruce.
