Departed: 04/10/2024 (LaFollette)
Obituary Preview: CARL HOGAN WOODSON, JR, age 76, formally of LaFollette, passed away Wednesday, April 10 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born January 15, 1948, to Carl H. and Vandalee Woodson. Carl married his grade school sweetheart, Theresa Dossett, and they moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he began his lifetime career at Ford Motor Company. Eventually, the two bought a farm where Carl farmed beef cattle, tended horses for his daughter to barrel race, and raised a garden for the whole neighborhood. In 2006, Carl retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service where he began working on the line and ending as a Benefits Representative for the UAW. Upon retirement, Carl became a fulltime farmer. It was there among his cattle and in the gardens and in the hayfields with his dogs, Rocky and Molly, by his side that Carl found his joy. For it was there that he felt the presence of the Lord and communed with him daily. Carl will always be remembered for his hard work, his kindness and generosity, his big smile, his loud, boisterous laugh, and his love for his family and friends. Carl’s greatest heartache came when his only child and daughter, Melanie, died tragically in 2002, but there was much jubilation when they were reunited again this past Wednesday morning.
Pre-ceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melanie Woodson, parents, Carl H. and Vandalee Hutchinson Woodson, brother, H.Y. Woodson, sister, Margaret Sales, and nephews, Hollis Cadle, and David Myers.
