Obituary Preview: CAMBRIDGE CITY- Sarah “Sally” J. (Bradway) Woodward passed away Friday morning, April 22nd, 2022, at Arbor Trace in Richmond, Indiana. Sally was born on October 17th, 1935, in Connersville, Indiana, to William H. and C. Frances (Littleton) Bradway. She lived most of her life in Cambridge City and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1953. She later owned and operated Woodward’s Dress Shop in town. She was a 50-year member of Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority, Past Worthy Grand Matron of Eastern Star, and a member of Zion’s Lutheran Church. On June 20th, 1954, she married the love of her life, Robert D. Woodward, and were blessed with four loving children.
Sally is survived by her four children, Cindy (Scott) Bond, Bob (Terri) Woodward, Cheryl (Jim) Myers, and Libby (Ned) Breeden; she dearly loved her grandchildren, Kelley (Ryan) Smith, Genesta (Payam) Zarehbin, Kindra (Jason) Wey, Sadie (Brian) Crockford, Ryland (Nalina) Woodward, Schuyler Woodward, Eric (Beth) Bates, Ryan (Jessica) Bates, Rob (Kelsey) Agee, and Candace Agee (Joel McLane); and her 17 great-grandchildren; Sally is also survived by several special nieces, nephews, and cousins; and sister-in-law, Lois Bradway.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband Bob on December 21st, 2011; a grandson, Charley Breeden on November 30th, 2015; and a brother, Bill Bradway on July 20th, 2019.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Eastern Star services will be held prior to visitation. Burial will be at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.

Obituary Preview: RICHMOND- Thomas DeWayne Gardner, 68, passed away in the afternoon on Friday, April 22nd, 2022, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. Thomas was born in Richmond to the late Reid Frazier and Betty Lou (Crowder) Gardner on January 26th, 1954. Thomas graduated from Richmond High School in 1972 and obtained a certificate in Cosmetology. Thomas made his home in Mount Comfort for several years prior to returning to Richmond. He worked for Wayne Works in Richmond delivering buses throughout the country and then later worked in retail sales. Thomas had a lifelong love for animals and enjoyed growing his plants in the garden. Thomas was a people person and enjoyed playing pool and having a good time in life.
Thomas is survived by four siblings, Gary L., Gaylene, Lynn A., and Kimberly S. Gardner: several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Thomas is preceded in death by a brother, Donald A. Gardner Sr.; and an infant-nephew, Shawn Gardner.

Obituary Preview: Greens Fork-  Mei Hui Cushing, 76, passed away at her home in Greens Fork, Indiana on April 6, 2022.  A daughter of the late Yuan-Chun Liao and Jin-Gui (Wu) Liao, Mei was born in Taipei, Taiwan on June 23, 1945.  Mei married her former husband, David A. Cushing in Taiwan in 1974 while he was stationed there with the United States Navy.  They moved to Annapolis, Maryland in 1975 and Connersville, Indiana in 1979.  She has made her home in Wayne County since the 1990’s.  Mei was a homemaker and also worked in Connersville for Commercial Printing and the News Examiner as a layout designer.  She had also been employed as a hostess at Jade House and Jade Palace restaurants in Richmond.  She enjoyed singing karaoke.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Dustin (Marsha) Cushing of Richmond and Scott (Patricia) Cushing of Greens Fork; 5 grandchildren, Clayton, Carlie, Claira, Cayla and Charlotte Jo “Charlie”; 3 brothers, Kwong-Kum Liao, Kwong-Zhuo Liao and Kwong-Sung Liao of Taiwan.  Mei was also preceded in death by a brother, Jing-Yi Wu.
A memorial visitation will be at Cambridge City Christian Church from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 4 p.m. on Thursday April 14, 2022. Obituary Preview: NEW CASTLE- Bobby Ronald Hicks, 82, died at his home of 58 years Monday morning, April 4th, 2022. Bobby was born in Bristol, Tennessee to Thomas Earl and Neta Lynn (Kite) Hicks on May 7th, 1939. Bobby was raised in the Cambridge City area and graduated from Lincoln High School. He retired from Chrysler in New Castle on December 31st, 1998, after 35 years of service, with 25 years in plant protection. He married the former Janet Witters on December 9th, 1962, in Richmond. Bobby enjoyed traveling, family reunions, visiting family in Tennessee and going to the beach. Bobby was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in New Castle.
Bobby is survived by his wife; four children, Kevin Gahret (Ana) of Union City, Indiana, Theresa Toschlog (Kyle Tanner) of Richmond, Rhonda Agee (Tracy), and Bobby Hicks II (Elizabeth) both of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Leah Bergfield of Richmond, Justin Forman (Nicole) of Brookville, Ohio, Kevin Smith (Brent) of Richmond, Maddie Agee of New Castle, Kean Gahret of the Philippines, Caitlin Hicks and Sara Hicks both of Knightstown; and several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; three brothers, Billy (Nancy) of Eaton, Ohio, Larry (Joni) of Pershing, and Joe (Debbie) Hicks of New Castle; and one sister, Peggy Hook of Cambridge City.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judy Ptak; brother, Hugh Hicks; son, Wes Briar; grandson, Shea Briar; and infant grandchild Matthews.

John was born September 2nd, 1963, to Phil Newhouse (Sharon Newhouse) and Lynna Sue Jessop (Michael Ankrom) of Cambridge City, IN. John graduated from Lincoln High School in the class of 1982.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jason Lowell Newhouse, grandparents Roscoe and Ruth Newhouse, stepfather Michael Ankrom, and stepson Steven Johnathan James Fowler.
John is survived by his 4 sons, Wes Newhouse, Chase Newhouse, Cole Newhouse, and Wyatt Newhouse. John is also survived by Angie Cornett Fowler and daughters Amanda Holliman and Brittney Brown. Of these, John was blessed with a total of 12 grandchildren that he loved wholeheartedly. John had 2 brothers and 4 sisters and many nieces and nephews that he loved.
Besides spending time with family, John had a passion for riding his Harley. He invested time organizing benefit rides and other events. Passionately nicknamed “Foz” by his friends, John had many close to him whom he loved dearly and considered his brothers and sisters. He was a skilled automotive technician and was very knowledgeable on most things Harley Davidson. John touched many lives with his willingness to help others and his passion for life, freedom, and the thrill of the ride.
Upon John’s requests there will be no funeral service. Arrangements for the celebration of life planned for friends and family will be shared at a later date. Kenneth Scott Hilbert - December 18, 1961 - March 29, 2022

Obituary Preview: CONNERSVILLE-  Kenneth Scott Hilbert, 60, passed away Tuesday evening March, 29, 2022 at his home in Connersville, Indiana.  Kenneth was born in New Castle, Indiana on December 18, 1961.  He grew up in the Dublin and Cambridge City communities and moved to Connersville 2 ½ years ago from Bentonville.  When he was eighteen years old, he and his former wife Teresa moved to Florida where they lived for ten years and started their family. Kenny had been a truck driver for Hiner Transport and was also previously employed at the Richmond Recycling Center as a machine operator. Kenny enjoyed tinkering on cars, fishing with his grandkids and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He looked forward every week to attending Sunday church services with his grandkids at Deliverance Tabernacle in Connersville.
Survivors include 2 children, Crystal Ann (Lloyd Spicer Jr.) Hilbert and Zachariah Lee Hilbert; 8 grandchildren, Bryant Hilbert, Chassidie Liu, Isabelle Morales, Caleb Scott, Elaina Ann, Emaleigh, Trinity Grace and Elliot Michael Hilbert; 5 siblings, Timothy Allen, Randy Eugene and Kimberly Sue Hilbert, Mable Giridler and James Early; nieces and nephews.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Lee Hilbert; mother, Marjorie (Harris) Evans; son, Joel Elliot Hilbert on January 8, 2022; first love, Teresa Ann Lockwood on February 5, 2017.

Born in Richmond, to Charles George and June Lyla Cline on July 6th, 1953, Ricky grew up in Middleboro and graduated from Richmond High School. Ricky lived his entire life in Wayne County where he worked in several jobs including working for the State Highway Department as a Highway Maintenance Technician, Wayne Works, and Tom Raper. Ricky enjoyed spending time with family and working in his garden beds.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Linda Louise (Longnecker) Cline.  They were married on May 22nd, 1982, in Dublin; two children, Angela (Billy Miller) Cornett and Rick Cline; three grandchildren, Houston (Alison) Cornett, Lucian (Shelby) Cornett, and Ruby Malone; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Sandy Mills of Texas.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sue Smith; and a brother, Dane Lantz.

Obituary Preview: CAMBRIDGE CITY-  Martha Ann Toney, 76, passed away at her home in Cambridge City Tuesday evening March 15, 2022 after a brief illness.  Martha was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on February 23, 1946.  She lived most of her life in the Cambridge City community and worked as a nurse’s aide in area nursing homes and for home health care.  She loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed trips to Tennessee to visit her two boys.  Martha married John Toney in an outdoor ceremony in Cambridge City on August 17, 1991.  The wedding vows were quick, in order to beat an approaching thunderstorm,  and gave them thirty wonderful years together.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Toney; 1 daughter, Gina Ann (Tony) Hale; 2 step-daughters, Julie Ann (Jeff) Wheeler and Alicia N. (Shaun) Mullin; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her 2 sons, Larry Wayne and Michael Wyatt Jeffries; father, Willie Beard; mother, Wilma (Rhodus) Batchfield; brother, Bill Jones.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday March 21, 2022 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.  Cremation will follow.  Private burial services will be at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.

Born to Alphonsos and Viola (Firsich) Spaulding on September 2nd, 1937, Carol grew up in the Connersville area and graduated from Connersville High School, then later in life moved to Cambridge City where she has resided since 1975. She married the love of her life, the late Wayne E. Tague, on December 26th, 1959, at St. Gabriel’s Church in Connersville. Carol was a homemaker, she spent her days raising four boys, which was a full-time job, and the loved chaos. She was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.
Carol is survived by her four sons, Tony (Kathy) Tague of Connersville, Dan (Christina) Tague of Thomasville, North Carolina, Jeff (Susan) Tague of Stephenson, Virginia, and Ken (MaryAnne) Tague of Fishers; eleven grandchildren, Amber Borden, April Tague, Josh Hudelson, Joey Frasur, Tyler Tague, Alexa Tague, Heather Bradley, Lauren Koble, Ross Tague, Chris Tague, and Jon Tague; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Spaulding; and one sister, Janie Linderman.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 10th, 2009, and two siblings, Gary, and Robert Spaulding.

Brent was born to Lyle and Eva Jean (Gray) Schrader in New Castle, Indiana on June 23rd, 1963. Brent lived most of his life in Wayne County, he played varsity football at Lincoln High School and graduated from there in 1982. Brent worked in construction and enjoyed in his leisure hunting, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Brent is survived by his two children, Amber Patton and Josh Schrader; seven grandchildren, Jaela and Jack Patton, Serenity Steiner, Katrisa, Zane, Zoie and Nathan Schrader; his companion of fifteen years, Kelly Decatur; four siblings, Steve Schrader, Terry Schrader, Brenda Davis, and his twin brother, Brad Schrader; nieces and nephews; and former wife and mother of his children, Susan Schrader.
Brent is preceded in death by his parents.

Rich Young - March 30, 1946 - March 12, 2022

Obituary Preview: CONNERSVILLE- Richard Larry “Rich” Young, 75, passed away Saturday morning March 12, 2022 at Golden Rule Nursing Home in Richmond, Indiana where he had been a resident for the past four days.  A son of the late Robert Lee and Mamie Alice (Cate) Young, Rich was born in Dalton, Georgia on March 30, 1946.  Following graduation from high school, Rich enlisted in the United States Army on March 1, 1966 and served in Vietnam.  He decided to make the Army his career and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class on November 1, 1990 after twenty four years of honorable service.  During this time he had been stationed in the United States, Germany and Korea.  He spent several years at the Connersville National Guard Armory as Armory Custodian and had also been employed by the Fayette County Sheriff Department. Rich also owned and operated Big “A” Autoparts Store in Rushville for several years.  Rich was a car enthusiast and had a passion for street rod automobiles.  He built several and collected a few.  He referred to his wife, Karaline, as “Puddin” and together they would regularly attend car shows throughout the summer, sometimes two or three in a weekend.  Rich was proud of his mechanically sound autos and he and “Puddin” would drive them on trips throughout the country.  He was President for Life of the Outlaws Car Club, President of the Rodfathers Car Club, member of over twenty years of the National Street Rod Association and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife of nearly thirty years, the former Karaline R. Cherry.  They were married on August 7, 1992 in Louisville, Kentucky; 2 daughters, Michelle (Jerry) McIntosh and Kimberly (Travis) Guthrie; 4 grandchildren, Makayla “Mabel”, Olivia “Ollie”, Connor and Cameron; 1 great granddaughter, Etta; 1 brother, Michael Young; several nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his step-son, Mark Dyrstad; 5 siblings, Felton and Charlie Young, Barbara Lee Razor, Carolyn Colvin and Mary Alice Keller.
Visitation will be on Wednesday March 16, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 2 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.  Rich’s friend, Mike Bare will officiate.  Burial with military honors will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.

Debbie Wallen - June 16, 1965 - March 10, 2022

Obituary Preview: DUBLIN- Debbie Wallen, 56, passed away after a long illness on Thursday afternoon March 10th, 2022 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. Debbie was born on June 16th, 1965 in New Castle, Indiana. She was a member of the Lincoln High School class of 1983 and lived most of her life in the Western Wayne community.  She loved traveling, especially to New York City and Bristol Tennessee.
Debbie was preceded in death by her life companion of more than twenty years, Richard Dean Dalrymple on July 19, 2010.
She is survived by her parents, Gene, and Joanne (Dunn) Wallen; a brother, Brian (Denise) Wallen; special friends, Sheila Ridenour and Dana Fink, and all the friends and patrons at the Pub in Cambridge City, where she worked for many years.
Private graveside services will be held at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.

A daughter of Hershel and Ruth (Mains) Gabbard, Brenda was born in Connersville, Indiana on November 8, 1955. She and her family moved to the Western Wayne community when she was twelve years old, and she has made her home in the area ever since. Brenda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was family oriented and proudly put her family’s needs first. She loved to spend time with her kids and grandkids. Brenda was blessed with a fun-loving spirit and enjoyed crafting, cooking, and baking.
Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Charles Lee Choate. They were married in Byrdstown, Tennessee on December 4, 1971; Four children, Chris (Dawn Marie) Choate, Sharon (Billy) Flannery, Mona (Bill) Elston and Leana (Joey McCammon) Choate; Five grandchildren, Chelsea (Tyler) Sidwell, Taylor (Jacob) Bane, Jessica (Ben) Witte, Casey Shell and Roy McCammon; Five great-grandchildren, Meradith, Ripley, Colby, Jay and Emma Sue; Six siblings, Connie (Burl) Robbins, Cheryl (Nan McCloud) Powers, Anita (Jimmy) Thompson, Tina Dunaway, Robert (Melissa) Gabbard and Nina Lowery; many nieces and nephews.

John Puckett - May 17, 1943 - March 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: DUBLIN- John Arthur Puckett, 78, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022, after an extended illness, with his family by his side. John was born on May 17, 1943 in Henry County to Howard and Kathleen Puckett. After Howard’s death, Kathleen remarried to Willie (Spike) Raines.
John grew up outside of New Lisbon and graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1961.  John was proud of his business, John’s Garage, it was the local hangout in Dublin for all the years it was open.  After closing the garage, John then went to work for US Airways, first in Indianapolis and later transferring to the hub in Charlotte, North Carolina. After retiring from US Airways in 2009, he moved back home to Dublin.
John had a love for cars and racing.  He drag raced in his younger years and later spent countless hours being a spectator at racetracks across the country. If it had to do with cars or racing John always had a story to share.
John never met a dog he didn’t love, especially his granddog Winnie, who will miss him greatly, and he never met a stranger. John always left places with more friends than when he went in.
John is survived by his sons, Ron (Amy) Puckett of Cambridge City, and Todd (Michele) Gabbard of Dublin, 5 grandchildren Bailey, Brody and Kinley Puckett and Chelsea (Derek) Lingg and Trevor Gabbard, and his sister, Janice (Bill) Longnecker, his sister-in-law Dolores Puckett, and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his daughter, Lori, and her children and grandchildren. John also leaves behind his special friend,Vicki, and many other friends locally and around the country.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ray.
John will be missed every day. Relatives and friends are invited to extend their condolences from 11:00-1:00 Saturday, March 5th, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. A graveside service will immediately follow at New Lisbon Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: NEW CASTLE- Rita Fay Swartz, 67, passed away late Tuesday night March 1st, 2022, at Henry Community Health, New Castle, Indiana. Rita was born to John Lester and Lillie Pearl (Jones) Ragan on March 17th, 1954, in New Castle. She was raised in the New Lisbon community and attended New Lisbon Christian Church. Rita married her then husband and moved to Anderson where she lived for more than 50 years. Rita worked in area restaurants prior to working at K-mart from where she retired after many years of service. She thoroughly enjoyed spending her time crafting, painting saw blades, playing euchre and other games.

Rita is survived by her son, Mark (Patricia) Swartz of Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Rachel Gilman and William Scott; brother, Dennis (Pauline) Ragan of New Lisbon; sister, Ruth Huffman of Farmland; and many nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of family, Rev. Mark Lomison will officiate. Burial will be at New Lisbon Cemetery.

Imogene married the love of her life, the late Donnie Lakes, on April 3rd, 1959, in Connersville. Imogene thoroughly enjoyed in her spare time, needle point, crocheting, quilting, reading, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was the member of Straughn Community Chapel and was also in the Ladies Fellowship Group.
Imogene is survived by her two children, Jerry Lakes and Ronny (Diana) Lakes; seven grandchildren, David, Steven, Tandy, Charles, Christina, Donnie, and Rachel; several great and great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Avery (Sue) Gabbard, Agnes Faber, Dale (Shirley) Gabbard, and Emma Lee (Bill) Keen.
Imogene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donnie on Oct. 3rd, 1999; daughter, Becky Lakes on Sept. 2nd, 2015, and sister Freida Gabbard.

Obituary Preview: RICHMOND-  Linda Lee Erk, 72, passed away Saturday morning February 19, 2022 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.   A daughter of the late Noble and Mary (Dungan) Breeden, Linda was born on Williamstown, Kentucky on February 9, 1950.  She moved to New Paris Ohio when she was seven years old and has lived most of her adult life in Richmond.  Linda graduated from Anderson Beauty School in Richmond and worked as beautician/cosmetologist for many years at Brockman’s and Marie’s beauty salons.  She also was manager at Richard’s Restaurant for several years.  Linda was a hard worker and was always doing something for somebody.  She enjoyed cooking and everyone loved it.  Linda liked to bowl and had participated in bowling leagues when she was younger but her favorite way to spend time was with her family and friends.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Brentt and Kyle (Brittney) Davis; 2 grandsons, Corbyn and Ryder Davis; 4 siblings, Carol Richie, Donna Wheeler, David and Bobby Breeden; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, David Allen Erk on July 14, 2015.  They were married in Richmond on June 21, 1980; 1 brother, Larry Breeden.

He married the former Delores A. Gilbert in Richmond in November of 1963.
Bob was preceded in death his wife on February 16, 2012; 8 siblings, Pauline, Mildred, Earl, James, Russell, and Howard Hickman, Josephine Thom and Margaret Hornsby.  He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: CAMBRIDGE CITY-  Wovie Wampler, 95, after a brief  earthly eight day separation from her husband Charles, Wovie was greeted by him again for eternity on Monday evening February 7, 2022.  A daughter of the late Luther and Della (Cornett) Gay, Wovie was born in Clay County, Kentucky on July 8, 1926.  Wovie met her future husband while he was working at the Rock Island gas station in Cambridge City and they would marry on June 30, 1954.  She proudly took on the role of homemaker and also helped with the farming operation as she and Charles raised two sons.  Wovie was never an idle person, she enjoyed working and staying busy whether it was in the kitchen, garden or field.  She has been a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren for over sixty years.
Survivors include, two sons, Donald F. (Janet) Wampler, Robert (Debra) Wampler; five grandsons, Shawn (Toni) Wampler, Ryan (Derika) Wampler, Kevin (Clara) Wampler, Darrel Wampler, and Allen (Tiffany) Wampler; nine great- grandchildren, Charles (Lori) Wampler, Kasey (Jesse) Tyree, Josh (Makayla) Wampler, Caden Wampler, Brantley Wampler, Alex Wampler, Brenna (Tim) Reed, Austin Wampler, and Ashley Wampler; five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Essie Martin; nieces and nephews.

Rev. Larry Shelton - November 13, 1938 - February 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: New Castle- Rev. Lawrence (Larry) N. Shelton, 83, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 5, 2022, after a valiant and fiercely fought battle with cancer since 2020. He made his journey to heaven with a perfect and healed body. He passed away at home with his family surrounding him.
Larry was born in Susie, Kentucky, on November 13, 1938, to Marjorie Shelton Hunt, and Rev. Harold Rednour-who both preceded him in death. His grandmother, Myrtie Shelton, raised Larry. He grew up in Kennard, Indiana, and had lived in New Castle for most of his life. He was in the last graduating class of Kennard High School in 1957.
Larry had been a minister for close to 60 years. He started Charity Baptist Church in New Castle, was in the starting of two other churches, Grand Avenue Baptist Church, and Kennard Baptist Church. He pastored churches in Indiana and Kentucky-the latter being a 4 ½ hour drive to church on the weekend in Clover Bottom, KY, and driving back after services on Sunday evening. While pastoring New Hope Baptist Church in Richmond, which is now called Ravinia Park Baptist Church, he broke all records on conversions, baptisms, per capita giving per individual for the state. The Southern Baptists of Indiana wanted him to go around to the churches and teach them how to grow like we had been doing in baptisms and conversions. He also pastored churches in Hagerstown, Centerville, Richmond, Economy, New Castle, and Kennard. He was also interim pastor at New Point Baptist Church, in New Point, Indiana. Larry was a true man of God he preached the Bible as it was, he did not tickle the ears of the listeners. Larry was known as a preacher who hated sin. For four years he was in evangelism-seeing many people come to the Lord. Larry was the best pastor to his flock, and he was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As Larry would say, “Thus saith the word of God.” He was a graduate of Hillcrest Bible College in Richmond. He also sang with his family for over 50 years in churches.
When Larry was in high school, he lettered in four sports while attending Kennard High School. He was invited by the Cincinnati Reds to try out for them. Larry was a lover of basketball, especially watching IU games with his daughter, Ellen. He had been called “the second Bobby Knight” for years. He also coached middle school basketball. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, and his favorite driver was always Jeff Gordon.
After high school, Larry served his country in the Army he was a Specialist, fourth class. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Dix, New Jersey; Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis; and Panzer Kazern in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He loved his country and served it dutifully.
Larry and the family took many vacations throughout the south, southeast, and out west. He was the main driver, always wanting to be the one to do the driving. He was a true family man and loved his family very much. He was a faithful husband to his wife of 60 years and loved his daughter and grandson very much.
Larry also worked in the excavating business for years for his brother-in-law, Jerry Roberts. He worked in insurance for John Hancock Insurance, Couden-Hostettler Funeral Home, in shipping for Sears, and Owens-Brockway Glass, worked at Kirby Risk, in finance at Fort Benjamin Harrison, and up until the last day before he became ill, he worked for Wal-Mart in assembly. Larry had retired three times but would go back to work.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marian Jill Roberts Shelton, who he had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 23rd; daughter, Ellen Shelton of New Castle; grandson, who he was also a father figure to, Jacob Shelton of New Castle; brothers, Jack Hunt of Alvin, Texas, Charles Hunt of Avon, Indiana, and David Rednour of Monticello, KY; A special niece, who was like a daughter to him, Tammy Neal of New Castle; In-laws, Jerry and Linda Roberts of Dublin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins; and his dog, Jillian.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Myrtie and Silas Shelton; sister, Linda Atkinson of Frankfort; and brother, Larry Rednour of Monticello, Kentucky; many uncles, aunts, cousins also preceded him in death.
Private graveside services with Military Honors will be conducted at Lewisville Cemetery. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, will be taking care of Rev. Shelton and the service.

Kelli was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend.  She had the most beautiful smile and spirit that could light up a room like sunshine.  She was loving and always positive.  She fought a 25-year battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma cancer that was thought to have a 5-to-15-year survival rate, always with strength, faith, positivity, and a smile.  Kelli will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her husband and best friend, Joshua D. Brown, Greenfield; Her mother, Barbara J. Smith, Centerville; and her brother and sister-in-law, Michael V., and Luci Smith of Lebanon; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl R. Smith, in 2008; paternal grandparents, Burl and Celestie Smith; maternal grandparents, Vernon, and Katherine Fry.
