Allen J. “Jack” Eisenhour - August 02, 1934 - November 11, 2023

Departed: 11/11/2023 (Pemberville)
Obituary Preview: With heavy but celebratory hearts, the family of Allen J. (Jack) Eisenhour, 89, announces the passing of their family and community-minded servant who joined our Lord on November 11 following a multi-year battle with Dementia.
Born August 2, 1934 to Walter (AKA Queek) and Eloise (Bowlus) Eisenhour, Jack was a 1952 Pemberville High School graduate. During his high school years, Jack’s father required that Jack work somewhere else besides the family dealership so that Jack would know what it was like to work for someone else. Those successful years at Hahn’s Grocery Store in Pemberville heightened Jack’s ability to work with the public. Jack proudly served in the US Army from 1954 – 1956, stationed part of that time in Europe. Upon returning home, Jack married Joyce Avers on May 25, 1957 in Elmore, Ohio, and they spent their 66 years of marriage in Pemberville. In October of 1959, Jack graduated from the Chevrolet Dealers’ Sons School, known as the ‘West Point of Industry.’ He then joined his father in running Eisenhour Motors, which is currently in its 100th year of operation, having begun in 1924. The business has also been operated by Jack’s son Brian, who sadly passed in 2021, and Jack’s grandson Todd, who is the fourth generation to run Eisenhour Motors.
Jack had a passion for his home town of Pemberville, for cars, and for working with and for people. As such, Jack was active in the community throughout his lifetime. He served on the Citizen’s Savings Bank Board of Directors for nearly 30 years and spent two terms as a trustee and secretary for Bethlehem Lutheran Church, for which he also sang in the choir. Jack was also active in the Pemberville Civic Club, the Forks Conservation Club, and PIMA, the Pemberville Independent Merchants Association. Under Jack’s leadership, Eisenhour Motors was a big contributor to the Pemberville Fair as well as to the summer historic car Cruise-ins in the village over the years.
Besides the tremendous love he had for his grandchildren, Jack had numerous interests. From enjoying time at their Michigan cottage, to camping, to fishing, to antiquing, especially in regards to old bells, Jack enjoyed being outside and liked to walk frequently around the village. For a number of years, he and Joyce enjoyed a few months in Florida each winter once Brian became more active in the dealership.
Jack is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter-in-law Amy Eisenhour, granddaughter Megan (Robert) Schumacher, grandson Todd Eisenhour, great granddaughter Collins Schumacher, and sister Annette Rideout, all of Pemberville. Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Brian.

Josh has always been larger than life. He had an amazing energy that drew people close and made them want to be near him. If you were close to Josh, you knew he was a beautiful soul who just wanted those around him to be happy and be the best version of themselves. This could be seen in his career choices, having recently started at Mindful Behavior Care as a Behavioral Health Specialist. Prior to that, he worked at Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center where he was a Registered Behavioral Health Technician. Josh will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him beyond measure and were touched by the many wonderful traits that made him the man he was.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about memorial services, donations, or other ways to honor the deceased.

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or online platform. Typically, it ranges from a few sentences to several paragraphs. It's best to check with the publication or platform for specific guidelines.

Can I include photos in an obituary?
