Larry Joe Livingston - December 27, 1957 - April 03, 2024

Departed: 04/03/2024 (Casey)
Obituary Preview: Larry Joe Livingston 66 passed away in the home he lovingly raised his family in on April 3, 2024, after a day of doing the things, he loved; helping unload a food truck for those in need, taking care of animals, playing with his grandchildren, and spending time with his wife.. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family is deeply saddened.
He was born December 27, 1957 in Robinson, IL, the son of Paul Joe Livingston and Carolyn Sue (Slane) Livingston.  He was the responsible older brother to Rick and Steven Livingston. Larry learned a love of animals from his parents and grandparents.  He learned his love of nature from his paternal grandparents, Bill and Jessie Livingston, often spending time with them, and playing in the woods. Larry was also blessed with loving, amazing maternal grandparents, Dale and Sue Slane. From Dale he learned a love of horses and going to fairs with his grandfather to show horses and from Sue he learned how to take care of pigs.  These are family traits he would carry with him into adult life.  Larry was blessed with a loving large family with many aunts, uncles and cousins to have fun and learn from.
Larry was a calm, red haired, redneck boy when his life would be changed drastically when he was introduced to the love of his life a wild hippie girl, Connie Sue Kemper.  The two would appear to be as different as day and night but brought out the best in each other.  Together life would not be easy, house fire, sick children, losses of jobs, and loved ones, but they held tight to each other and grew closer because of it.  Together Larry and Connie would raise 5 children, Jessica (Kevin) Parrent, Jamie (Marlen) Smith, Larry (Laura) Livingston, Justin Livingston, and Alisha Curtright. These children would bring them their biggest blessings their beautiful grandchildren, 11 of them, Britaney Strange, Trevor Parent, Riley Liston, Jerry Stephens, Jacey Stephens, Noah Livingston, Cole Livingston, Cade Livingston, Keegan Livingston, Liam Curtright and Luke Curtright.  He was also the great grandfather to Myles, Mac, and Lydia Strange.
They say you can tell a lot about a man by his children, with Larry you could tell a lot about him also by his daughter and son in laws relationships. Laura Livingston, his daughter-in-law, and Larry shared a love of animals, dogs in particular. Larry took great joy of Laura visiting with her dogs and camping at Livingston Farms.  He loved spending time with his son in law Marlen Smith and enjoyed countless trips to auctions, and bonding over their love of birds, it was often joked that Marlen dated Larry and not his daughter Jamie, His son in law Kevin Parrent and Larry shared a bond in helping others in their community, Larry worked every month helping unload food trucks, at The Edge a ministry ran by Kevin, and would help with the homeless needs there. Each of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren share so many beautiful memories and qualities of Larry with them.
Larry loved helping others, riding horses, hunting, raising animals, gardening, building a park for the neighborhood kids, and traveling with his wife, his cousins Brenda Masters Stout , Cindy Williams (Rick) Patsy ( Scott) Plumber. Larry’s life was very blessed in that other than his grandparents there are no humans to proceed him in death, however Larry was proceeded in death by his favorite hunting dog Red, whom he spent many nights hunting with and his favorite horse Feathers, whom was his favorite sidekick for many years.
Larry attended school in Jasper County. He worked many years at shoe factory in Casey, at United Technologies in Newton, farming and as the road commissioner for Grandville township, Larry loved his community and working with other and being a source of help to those in need, He had friends like Terry Fischer and Bernard Boyd who he loved dearly and viewed  as his  brothers. Public visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL With a celebration of life to be held at Livingston Farm in the near future! In lieu of memorial gifts the family ask that you take a moment to do something Larry would have done, check on your neighbor and offer help, return home to give your wife a kiss and pick some wild flowers, show your children how to be a kind and loving human to their community, and bring your children to play at Livingston Farms and enjoy the animals and park equipment he worked so hard to make for his community!
