Kyle Smith - January 14, 1941 - May 23, 2022

Departed: 05/23/2022 (Windsor)
Obituary Preview: G Kyle Smith If you ever met Kyle, you loved him from the start! A vibrant smile and cheerful attitude towards life that was infectious. You also found out quickly he went to Penn State, an honor he always shared. Within minutes you would also know he was from Ferndale Michigan (held up his hand like a mitten to show you what area), that he taught at Johns Hopkins for a bit, did sales for the glass industry for many years, won many many National Racquetball championships and was a sponsored player. More recently he would share his new loves in Colorado of substitute teaching at Windsor High School, being a ranger at Highland Hills golf course and a site director in the summer for Triple Crown Baseball. Kyle was a huge sports fan, was very outgoing and loved the Windsor community. Soon conversation would turn to what he loved more than words could ever convey….his family. Kyle married Ava on Valentines Day in 2010 on the courthouse steps in San Antonio (that is another story) and they share 3 adorable furry children. We know he told you about his favorite, Ike, a giant schnoodle. His greatest joy came in bragging about his sons, sister and their families. Eldest son is Kyle Steven (Wyoming, MI), wife Jodie and grandchildren KT and Morgan. Younger son Andrew (Caledonia, MI), wife Kathy and grandchildren Ellie and Mitchell. Baby sister Sandy Smith (Houston), nieces Heidi Bragg, husband Don, (Houston TX) and Holly Holmes (Houston, TX). To the amazing extended family and many friends he played racquetball ball with, golfed, went on Man-Ventures, enjoyed on the field with Triple Crown, chatted over the fence with, worshiped with….especially John B, Kenny F, Robert R, Mike M, the Greely RBall gang and others….your friendship priceless and were all loved. A private family memorial will be held in Wyoming, MI. Date to be determined. If you would like to make a donation in Kyle’s honor we would suggest https://bestfriends.org/sanctuary/about-sanctuary, currentchristian.org or to your favorite charity in his name.

James Miller - October 16, 1941 - May 09, 2022

Departed: 05/09/2022 (Windsor)
Obituary Preview: James Edward Miller 10/16/41 — 5/9/22How do you sum up the existence of a man as incredible as Jim in a single document? This is my feeble attempt.Jim was a compassionate and jovial man with a huge personality. You could always count on a comical one-liner or random dad joke followed by his famous giggle, as he always tried to keep things light. He was often referred to as the master of BS, a title he wore proudly. He never met a stranger, although he rarely remembered a name. Instead, he would either rename them or call them ol' whatchamadinger. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, almost always having a little dog following him around the house and yard. Jim was loyal and dependable and had no problem standing up for what he believed was right. Some of the things that made Jim the happiest were: working in his yard; traveling the world with his love, especially to Lincoln City, OR; fly fishing; watching sports, especially the 49ers; peanut M&M happy hour; and above all else, his family. He adored and was very proud of his kids and grandkids. In 1941, Jim was born in Spokane, WA, the last of four children of Frankie Taylor Miller and Clarence Eckman Miller. He grew up in Spokane, participating in his lifelong love of sports from tennis to football and hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers. Jim lost his mother at the age of 12, but was blessed with a loving and patient stepmother, Hazel Ford Miller.Jim graduated from Washington State in 1965 and was commissioned as an officer in the Army. After spending 2 years active duty, including 13 months in Korea, he remained in the Army Reserves for several more years. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle before entering the insurance industry in 1970 as an Agent. Jim was transferred to Billings, MT by Safeco Insurance Company and spent most of the years working as an Adjuster for the insurance companies that seemed to come and go from Montana at that time. He finished his career with Montana Claims Service. Jim also served on the board of directors for the Billings Heights Water District for many years.Jim married Karen Gibson and they welcomed Raquel Lynn in October 1969. They divorced before he left for Montana and Jim married Kathy Russiff in November of 1975. Jodee Lynn was born April 1978 and Michael James in December 1979.Early family vacations consisted mainly of hunting trips on family land south of Miles City, so the kids were raised on venison and loved it.In August 2021, Jim was diagnosed with leukemia and after moving to Windsor, CO in the fall he passed away at his home surrounded by his three children and wife. Our family will forever have a piece of us missing but his legacy will live on through our memories.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Miller Harruff and brothers John Taylor Miller and Clarence E Miller, Jr.Survivors are Kathy and children: Raquel Morgan Plume -Trevor and Tabitha; Jodee Miller -Kane and Damon; Michael (Katie) - Kaylee and Henry. Brothers in law: Robert Russiff(Diana) - Andrea Head and Taylor; Richard Russiff(Josie) - Christy Perzinski and Ricky. Shantel Renae Burton - April 01, 1989 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Windsor)
Obituary Preview: Shantel Renae Burton passed away on March 30, 2022, at the age of 32. She was born on April 1, 1989, to Ron and Beth Burton and graduated high school from Greeley Central High School. Shantel went on to marry William Bruyette on September 22, 2021, and she was blessed with four children. Shantel loved music and norse mythology but her focus was on family and she put her family above all else. Shantel is survived by her parents Ron and Beth Burton, husband William Bruyette, her children; Nevaeh Lynette, Alexander James, Shonda Ray, and Michael David and her sister, Shira Kay Martinez. Shantel was preceded in death by her sister Trina Beth Verdick and grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Burton and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Miller. Her husband William drove up from Brighton Colorado to Greeley Colorado Within the first 24 hours she reached out and asked me (William) to take her to the ER From that time on I helped her with everything. When I drove here and parked my car within 50 feet of her front door the radiator blew and there my car sat. When I (mother) found out I was pregnant with Shantel we had just gotten back from her great grand parent's 65th-anniversary party which was in the Dalles, Oregon. We traveled there by train and the trip took us two days. We were in Oregon for three days and rode back on the train for three days with two kids 10 and 10 months. While on the way back I was so sick I could hardly eat and the motion of the train didn’t help. About a week later we found out we came home with more baggage than we left with. We were going to stop with two children so the fact that we were expecting again was a Boo Boo. After she was born for the first year when she was hungry she would growl instead of cry so her nickname was “Boo Boo Bear”. She seemed to have a sixth sense about things that happen to people she cared about. When her nephew graduated high school Dunkin Donuts was giving away donuts to every graduate. She told her nephew not to go and he listened to her and stayed home. When his friends went down to Denver where the closest Dunkin Donuts was at the time they were pulled over and arrested for things they were doing in the car, and because her nephew listened to her he was really A-Ok.When all three girls where little, we lived in a home with large trees and many bushes all the way around. In the evenings, the girls ad I would go out and sit on the front porch and one night a large brown bunny hopped out from under the bushes. Trina ran in the house and brought back several carrots and we where able to feed this beautiful rabbit. It came back every night so we named it Abot. Abot came around every nigh around the same-time. So we had gone to the store where Shantel told me we need carrots and apples, So I asked her why we needed these things and she stated there for Abot. So to say the lest we came home with our groceries and the apples and carrots. For several weeks Abot showed up every night and we feed him, and one night Abot didn't show up for around two weeks. Then Abot showed up but was very skinny, Then a week later out from the bush Abot came out of the bush with FOUR tiny bunnies. So needless to say Abot became Abigale. Bingo.
