Ricky Ford - November 03, 1959 - March 02, 2022

Departed: 03/02/2022 (Center)
Obituary Preview: Ricky Ford, 62, of Tenaha, Texas passed away on March 2, 2022. He was born on November 3, 1959, in Rogers, Arkansas, to the late Buster Ford and Bobbie Hicks.  A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Here are the words of Ricky’s children on how much their dad meant to them: Not only was he a great husband to our mom, but he was also the best dad, Pop-Pop, and Grandpa there was.  Dad was the most selfless person I have ever met.  He made sure everyone was taken care of before he considered himself.  He gave the best advice and seemed to have the right words to say for any situation no matter what it was.  Dad has taught me everything I know.  Dad taught me how to be a family man and how to be a father.  Family was everything to dad, he made sure he passed that on to his kids, grandkids, and family.  I will be hitting your old fishing holes for you soon.  I love you, Dad.
My dad made me the man I am today. He always believed in me and pushed me to be better than him.  He’s where I learned my work ethic, and my handyman skills, and to be a father.  He was my favorite baseball coach and hunting buddy.  Words cannot describe how much I am going to miss this man, and not being able to give him a call when I have a question that only he can answer.  I love you dad.
There are absolutely no words to express the pain and heartache that I and our family feels.  I will cherish all our good moments and memories and will hold on to them forever.  Our relationship was far from what it could have been, but these last few weeks have shown me how much more of you I am than I ever believed.  I will think about you every time I move my foot to sleep, every penny I pinch, and every deer I see.  I’m proud to have made you a grandpa and I know your legacy will live on through all 9 of your Grandkids.  Until we meet again, I love you dad, love always, your daughter.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Teresa Broadway Ford; his sons, Jordan Ford and wife, Lainey, Bradley Ford and wife, Abigail, and Robert Christopher Ford and wife, Lindsay; daughter, Kristi Rosas and husband, Isaac; brothers, Jackie Ford and wife, Terry, Timothy Harold Ford and wife, Betty, and Phillip Ford and wife, Lori; grandchildren, Paisley Ford, Landry Ford, Maverick Ford, Molly Jean Ford, Briley Ford, Jacob Rosas, Lillyana Rosas, Macilyn Rosas, and Noah Rosas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Buster Ford; step-mother, Violet Ford; mother, Bobbie Hicks; sister-in-law, Kay Ford; mother-in-law, Peggy Broadway; and nephew, Tyler Ford.

Deryl Bishop - July 03, 1927 - January 22, 2022

Departed: 01/22/2022 (Center)
Obituary Preview: Deryl Bishop, 94, of Joaquin, Tx passed away on January 22, 2022. She was born on July 3, 1927, in Forest Hill, Louisiana, to the late Ivey and Lessie (Dunn) Cook.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Haslam Baptist Church in Joaquin, Texas, officiated by Bro. Jody Hooper.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Haslam Baptist Church in Joaquin, Texas. Deryl Bishop, known as Meemee to family and friends, has run a good race, fought a good fight, and through it all has “collected” so many precious friends and memories. She’s had marvelous experiences, and built a good and noble name for herself. She truly lived every moment of her 94 years!
Deryl was born July 3, 1927, which she always laughingly said was too close to the Fourth of July to celebrate her birthday. She was born to Ivey Calhoun Cook and Lessie Inez Cook who were farmers in Forest Hill, Louisiana. She had a happy childhood there playing in the creek with her brothers and sister on the farm. She was raised by Godly parents who taught her Biblical truths by example as well as by reading the Bible and attending the little Baptist Church close by.
She was a lovely young girl of 16 years when she met the love of her life, Raymond Hugh Bishop. They knew right away they were a “match.” They were married December 18, 1943. Ray was a young soldier in training at Camp Cliborne nearby. He was ordered to Illinois, and she went with him. They lived there until he was shipped out to England. Separation came hard for the young couple, like it did for millions of others in the days of World War II. They settled down to farming when Ray returned from the war.
Deryl and Ray had three children – Michael Raymond Bishop, David Gerald Bishop, and Susan Louise Bishop. They were all born within three years. Texas Eastern advertised for workers, and Ray answered the ad and got a job in Castor and was later transferred to Joaquin, which was to be their permanent home. They were always able to live within their means.  One of the things Meemee was always able to do was to “make do” with whatever she had. She could fix anything and made do with what she had instead of wanting  things she didn’t have.  This is a valuable lesson she’s passed down to her family through the years.
They settled into the Joaquin community and made tons friends. Ray and Deryl loved attending all the school sports, especially  all the gamers their grandchildren participated in. They supported their town in anyway they could. Ray and Deryl helped build a baseball field in Joaquin and coaches or cheered for years. They loved sports, as well as games and any competition. Meemee was a ferocious competitor and managed to win most of the time at any game she played! In her later years she worked at the local food pantry and delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly of Joaquin.
Meemee was the rock in our family and the glue that held us altogether. She was a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother who gave us all many special memories. She was so proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Every single one of us knew we were loved. We thank the Lord for such a precious lady to call our own.

Jessie was very devoted to her Christ and Savior and found immense pleasure in being the daughter of a King.  Her devotion led her to membership at Mt. Maxie Chumley - October 13, 1947 - November 02, 2021

Departed: 11/02/2021 (Center)
Obituary Preview: Maxie Chumley was born on October 13, 1947 in Newton, Texas, the 9th of 12 children born to Ruben Augustus and Annie Lena Crawford Amburn.  Maxie learned the ways of life from her parents and was specifically taught how to take care of herself, work for what she wanted, love people and most importantly, to serve her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Maxie was a mother, sister, friend, and servant to those she loved the most.  She helped her neighbors and the communities that she so adored.  She was BIGGER THAN LIFE.  Everyone who knew her would testify to her boldness and the love she had for her closest friends.  No one ever wondered how Maxie stood on any subject.  She was upfront with her thoughts and feelings.  She was who she was and she never made apologies for that.  She was proud of what she had accomplished in her life and her ability to be what she wanted to be.
Maxie was dedicated to her beloved church of Neuville Baptist Church where she served and told everyone “There is no place like Neuville Baptist Church!”  She attended Neuville Baptist where she was in charge of the kitchen and sang in the choir.  Maxie was a very talented vocalist and music was very important to her.  She was widely known for singing Dolly Partin’s “Coat of Many Colors”.  This song defined Maxie’s life.  She had many parts of herself that when put together, made a complete person.  Maxie was petite but boisterous.  Each of her traits made her who she was.  Her “coat of many colors” shown in everything she worked on.  However, in the midst of her colors, was a rhinestone…Maxie was the rhinestone.
She loved to cook and her cooking was old fashioned.  No one….and that is the truth….could make chicken and dumplings like Maxie.  The kitchen at church, no matter what it was used for, always had her dumplings.  And on the dessert table was all her beautiful, delicious pies.  Her church family will have to get use to the tea glass being less full, but in return, the Lord’s table will be much sweeter and the heavenly choir will be louder.
Maxie was larger than life and helped out wherever she could.  Her devotion to Christ led to being devoted to mankind as well.  She found great pride in helping each year at the San Augustine “Night of the Stars”.  Maxie always attended functions dressed to perfection with her “blingy” jewelry and adornments and the absolute best and most beautiful clothes.  She was stylish and took pride in looking her best.  The fundraiser brought her to another level when she was able to dress up like the celebrities and sing their songs.  Maxie was a celebrity of her own and will be missed throughout the communities but her star will forever shine bright in the memories of those who knew her and loved her most.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Bridget Hughes and the staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home, and Melanie, Kari and Teresa at Texas Hospice for their special care of Maxie.
Maxie is survived by her daughters, Shonia Putman and husband, Keith, Lesa Robertson and husband, Randy, and Tammie Jacobs and husband, Scott; sisters, Dixie Cucco and Jane Robins and husband, Kelly; grandchildren, Adam Copelin and wife, Jennifer, Jessica Greer and husband, BJ, Cade Copelin, Josh Windham and wife, Joni, Jennifer Sims and husband, Nick, John Parks and wife, Briget, Kasie Cacace and husband, Tony, Colton Norton and wife, Brittany, Caleb Norton, RT Jacobs, Shelby Jacobs, Jessica Jacobs, Keith Putman and wife, Angie, Kandace Meisch and husband, Victor, Amanda Linthicum, Kevin Putman, Matthew Putman and wife, Mariah, Ginger Garrett and husband, Luke, and Toby Robertson; great-grandchildren, Savannah Spann, Jorden Bollier, Cassidy Greer, Levi Greer, Avery Windham, Tyson Windham, Molly Windham, Kaden Sims, Preslee Sims, Kingston Parks, Kellon Parks, Stetson Waller, Gatlyn Caldwell, Ally Garrett, Lauren Hall and husband, Jeremy, Whitney Garrett, Savannah Lewis and husband, Travis, Lexi Robertson, Mikayla Putman, Gavin Putman, Ella Putman, Kaylea Webb, Kyndal Webb, Kreed Meisch, Kaydence Linthicum, Kamden Putman, Evelyn Putman, Weston Putman, Kinley Putman, Emma Putman, and Waylon Putman; sisters-in-law, Shirley Amburn, Jeanie Amburn, Barbara Amburn, Kathy Haley and husband, Richard, and Dianne Chumley; brothers-in-law, Ray Hardy and Earl Chumley and wife, Verna; and special loved ones, Sue Dendy, Herbie Smith, Tristan, Jaysen, and Jaxson.

Brealon Allen “Buddy” Sanford, Jr. was born in Houston, Texas on June 19th, 1953 to Brealon and Betty (Moore) Sanford. Buddy spent more than 40 years in the oil business in one fashion or another. While he loved the oil business, he loved to tell people that he used to work in Major League Baseball. He would then explain that his “Major League” career was from a brief stint with the Houston Astros front office, “and by that, I sold peanuts, popcorn and cokes.” Buddy also spent some time trying his hand as a professional bowler. After numerous perfect games, many “750’s” and at least two “800’s” to his name, he said, “That’s about the best I can be, there’s no sense in watching my career go down from here!” Buddy was also an avid hunter, whose life revolved around deer season.
However, even with so many fun hobbies, Buddy’s favorite thing was being “GrandBuddy / Gubby” to his grandbabies. Always the jokester, he was a kid at heart and loved to spend time making his grandkids laugh.
Buddy had committed himself to Christ early in life. However, he would quickly tell you, it wasn’t until he was in his 50’s that he learned what it was like to have a real relationship with Jesus. His spiritual life took a positive turn from that point forward. He talked often of what he was learning from the Bible, as well as how he felt the Lord was guiding his life.
