Antoinette Reale - March 25, 1930 - March 09, 2024

Departed: 03/09/2024 (Monroe Twp)
Obituary Preview: Antoinette Massimino Reale, 93, known to everyone simply as Ann, passed away March 9, 2024, at the Monroe Village Assisted Living Center. She was born to Frank and Lucia Massimino in Brooklyn, New York, back when the neighborhood bordered streams and apple orchards.Ann was a public servant for nearly four decades. She spent most of her working life at the King’s County Surrogate’s Court, starting as a judicial secretary and rising to head clerk. She was really good at her job, but family was always her top priority. Ann married Joe Calabrese and together they had four children. Later, she married Pete Reale, welcoming his children into her heart, and they enjoyed life altogether in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. As her family grew, Ann’s greatest joy came from being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their giggles and hugs were her sunshine.Ann was a force to be reckoned with on the bowling lanes and with a Wii controller. She loved the game and played it competitively, always giving it her all. Ann was an avid traveler and enjoyed frequent trips across the United States and Europe. Ann’s Sicilian roots and Catholic faith were a big part of who she was. She expressed that pride through her cooking and baking for friends and family. In her later years, Monroe became her home, where she made close friends and picked up hobbies like vegetable gardening, puzzles, and delving deeper into her passion for reading through audiobooks.Ann is predeceased by her daughter Victoria, her parents, her husband of 20 years Pete. As we say goodbye to Ann, we remember her love and strength. She leaves behind a big family who will miss her dearly. Ann is survived by her children (and their spouses): Joanne Calabrese, Stephen (Lia) Calabrese, Lucinda (Gary) Kaiser, Peter (Joanne) Reale, and Frank (Josephine) Reale; her 12 grandchildren; her 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In honor of her memory, her family asks for donations to Memorial Sloan Kettering giving.mskcc.org in lieu of flowers.
