Good Golly, Miss Molly! In the three weeks that Molly was here, she proved herself to be the strongest person her parents had ever met. Molly was described by her nurses as a fighter and was known to them for her feisty attitude. Molly's time with us may have been brief, but has left a lasting imprint on those who were lucky enough to meet her. Molly was born weighing 1 lb. 11.8 oz and used every ounce to her advantage as she made herself comfortable despite her nurses best efforts to keep her in a position. Our girl was born with a full head of dark hair like her sister, and as her dad pointed out she had "Marks toes" . She was small but mighty and we will always cherish our time together.
To our Mighty Molly, we love you and what an honor it was to be chosen as your parents. While our hearts are broken now we take comfort in knowing that you are at peace. Your legacy will carry on through our family. We will carry you in our hearts forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information about their passing, funeral arrangements, and any memorial services. They also help to notify people who may not have been aware of the person's death.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family of the deceased or a close friend writes the obituary. Funeral homes or obituary writers may also assist with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, occupation, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about funeral services, memorial contributions, and any other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary, but it's usually between 100-500 words. The goal is to provide a concise yet meaningful summary of the person's life.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and funeral homes allow you to upload photos or videos to accompany the obituary. This can help to personalize the tribute and make it more engaging.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to learn about their submission process and any specific requirements they may have. Some newspapers may accept online submissions, while others may require email or phone submissions.

Can I write my own obituary?

Yes, some people choose to write their own obituary in advance, often as part of their estate planning or as a way to reflect on their life. This can be a unique opportunity to share your story and legacy with loved ones.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

A death notice is a brief announcement of someone's passing, usually including only basic information like name, age, and date of death. An obituary is a more detailed tribute that provides a fuller picture of the person's life.

How much does it cost to publish an obituary?

The cost of publishing an obituary varies depending on the newspaper or online platform. Some may charge by the word or line, while others offer package deals or flat fees. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars.

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

It may be possible to make corrections or edits to an obituary after publication, but this depends on the policies of the newspaper or online platform. Be sure to proofread carefully before submitting the obituary to avoid errors.

How long do online obituaries remain available?

The duration that online obituaries remain available varies depending on the platform or website. Some may keep them archived indefinitely, while others may remove them after a certain period (e.g., 30 days).

Can I include quotes or lyrics in an obituary?

Absolutely! Including meaningful quotes, lyrics, or poems can add depth and personality to the obituary. Just be sure to obtain any necessary permissions or credits for copyrighted material.

What if I want to keep the funeral private?

If you prefer to keep the funeral private, you can still publish an obituary without including details about the service. You might instead mention a memorial service or celebration of life at a later date.

How do I handle condolences and guestbook messages?

Can I include charitable donations in lieu of flowers?

Yes! Many families choose to suggest charitable donations in lieu of flowers as a way to honor their loved one's memory and support a meaningful cause.

What if I need help writing an obituary?

If you're struggling to write an obituary, consider enlisting the help of a funeral home, obituary writer, or trusted friend or family member. They can provide guidance and support during this difficult time.

Can I republish an obituary at a later date?

You may be able to republish an obituary on significant dates like birthdays or anniversaries of the person's passing. Check with the original publication or online platform for their policies on republication.

How do I ensure accuracy in an obituary?

To ensure accuracy, verify all information with reliable sources (e.g., birth certificates, family records) and proofread carefully before submitting the obituary.

What if I want to include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

Humor and personal anecdotes can make an obituary more engaging and memorable. Just be sure to keep them respectful and tasteful.

Can I include information about pets in an obituary?

Absolutely! Many people consider their pets part of the family, so it's perfectly acceptable to mention them in the obituary.

How do I handle conflicting opinions about what should be included in an obituary?

In cases where there are differing opinions within the family or among friends, try to find common ground and prioritize what's most important for celebrating the person's life.

What if I need to correct factual errors in an already-published obituary?

Contact the publication or online platform immediately if you discover errors in an already-published obituary. They will work with you to correct the mistakes as soon as possible.

Can I create a memorial website or social media page instead of publishing an obituary?

Yes! Memorial websites and social media pages can be powerful ways to celebrate someone's life and connect with others who are grieving. You can share memories, photos, and stories in a more dynamic way than traditional print media allows.
