Angelita is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Elena Torres, Dehlia Gil, and Rudy Gil. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Simon Mendoza, Sr.; children, Simon Mendoza, Jr. (wife, Judy, deceased), Jennifer Mendoza and Joseph Mendoza; grandchildren, Kayla Mendoza, Kendra Mendoza, Arabella Mendoza, Josiah Mendoza, Adrianna Zurita, Romeo Rodriguez, Brooklynn Brawley and Gabriel Mendoza; great-grandchildren, Autumn Rae Smith and Sebastian Jude Meza, and siblings, Florida Franco (Refugio), Louis Gil, and Joe Gil (Beatrice).
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. For well over 30 years she worked at New Braunfels Mission Valley Mills where she made many friends. She later decided to stay home to spend more time with her grandchildren. She would spend her weekday mornings watching The Price Is Right which then led to her afternoon to watching her Soap Operas. Angie was one of a kind and true blessing to each and everyone she met. The memories she leaves behind will be cherished forever.

Keith Mez - October 07, 1932 - June 16, 2023

Obituary Preview: Keith David Mez was born to Charles Mez and Minnie Katherine Mez on October 10, 1932, in Falls City, Nebraska. He was the second of three children born into the family. Keith passed away peacefully in New Braunfels, Texas on June 16, 2023 at the age of 90 years.
He attended Falls City Public School, graduating in May of 1950. Following graduation, Keith joined his father on the family farm. In 1951, Keith went on a blind date with Jennie (Joan) Richardson; this was the beginning of their life-long love story.
Keith was drafted by the US Army and entered selective service on March 10, 1953. He completed Basic Training at Fort Riley, Kansas. Following Basic Training, Keith completed the Pipeline Installer-Operator course, engineer Department, Eta Jima Specialist School, finishing first in his class. Keith was sent to Korea where he served his country until his release from active military service February 5, 1955, at the rank of Corporal. While serving, he earned the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and one overseas bar. Keith was then transferred to the Army Reserves for the next eight years.
Upon his return home from active duty, Keith married Joan Richardson on February 14, 1955, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Keith and Joan began their married life on the family farm near Verdon, Nebraska and remained there for the next few years, then moved to New Mexico and California for a short time while Keith worked in the pipeline industry. They later returned to southeast Nebraska, and then to Omaha where Keith completed coursework in Commercial and Residential Refrigeration. Utilizing his training, Keith worked for various companies in Omaha while a member of the Steamfitters and Plumbers Union Local 464.
In 1984 Keith and Joan moved to San Antonio, Texas where he took a supervisory position in commercial refrigeration with HEB grocery stores. Keith remained with HEB until his retirement in 1997. Keith liked to say that he retired from HEB on Friday and went to work for Joan on Saturday.
Keith was preceded in death by his wife Joan of 62 years, his parents, Charles and Minnie Mez, his brother Harold Mez and his sister Lois Kehr.
Keith is survived by his sisters-in-law, Marie Lyons of Falls City, Nebraska and Peggy Fairbanks of Green Valley, Arizona as well as many nephews and nieces.
Keith and Joan made many friends through their love of Square Dancing. Keith was an avid golfer and continued to play into his 80's. He also enjoyed tinkering and spent many hours creating apparatuses to help Joan be more independent as her MS progressed. Keith and Joan enjoyed a long, happy marriage and found joy in every day they spent together. his 80's. Henry Alvah Anderson, Jr. - March 28, 1931 - June 14, 2023

Obituary Preview: Dr. Henry Alvah “Al” Anderson, Jr. passed away June 14, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband to Patsy Anderson for 65 years, and a wonderful father to his 5 children; Carol, Austin, Alice, Alan, and Scott.
Born in Austin in 1931, he grew up in south Texas and was proud to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from UT in the early 1950’s, and as a college senior, was hired to announce on KLBJ radio. During the Korean War, the US Army needed his help repairing tank radios.
Al Anderson was truly one of the Texas pioneers of radio and television broadcast news. He spent three years at KTRH radio and then became the first TV news field reporter hired in the San Antonio market. He worked for WOAI TV for 8 years, as both reporter and anchor, eventually becoming News Director.
In 1965, Al moved his growing family to Austin to anchor the 10:00 news at KTBC and began working on his PhD in Journalism at the University of Texas. Al Anderson developed the UT broadcast journalism sequence, teaching TV reporters for the next 27 years, leaving a legacy of talented TV journalists throughout the country. Broadcast Associations over the years honored him with both National teacher of the year and International Teacher of the Year awards. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1991.
For the next 30 years, Al and Patsy Anderson traveled the world together. They first stopped in Hawaii to expand the reach of Christian radio station KFSH. He trained missionaries to talk on the radio across the South Pacific. After this, he and Patsy settled in New Braunfels on the Comal river.
Al Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Wilson Anderson and Henry Alvah Anderson, Sr., and his son, Alan Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy, and his children; Carol Engelhardt (Craig), Austin Anderson (Kim), Alice Clasen (Randy), and Scott Anderson (Jill). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Noah and John Engelhardt, Austin and Alex Anderson, Kayla and Andrew Clasen, and Hannah and Hailey Anderson.
Al Anderson was a man of strong faith, which brought him comfort and peace as the Lord called him home. He was blessed with a wonderful life well-lived. Welcome home, Good and Faithful Servant.
There will be a brief, casual graveside service Saturday, June 24, at 11am at the San Marcos Cemetery, 1001 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, Texas. In Lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Obituary Preview: Dennis Carter Johnson was called home to our Lord on June 13, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Charles F. Johnson and Hazel Nelson Johnson. Charles and Hazel were born in Hamburg, Iowa and lived in Corpus Christi after Charles was discharged from the U. S. Navy in 1942.
Dennis graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1965, and attended Delmar College and Texas A&M.
Following college, he worked for Humble Oil & Refining Company in Houston, TX and Coastal States Refinery and Weatherford in Corpus Christi, TX.
Dennis was raised in a Christian home and was baptized in 1956 at Prescott Christian Church in Corpus Christi, TX. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Gruene United Methodist Church in New Braunfels, TX.
Dennis enjoyed sailing, saltwater fishing, and obtained his pilot license. Later, he purchased a 100th anniversary Harley Davidson to cruise about. After retiring, he went on to obtain his FEMA contractor license and worked at several natural disaster locations.
Dennis was married to Lynn Johnson Cohea (daughter Tara Lynn Cohea-Zaring), Kathi Johnson (son Dustin Charles Johnson), and Sandra Johnson. He is survived by his wife Sandra, children, Tara, Dustin, Kayla Bentley, daughter-in-law, 7 grand-children Michael Zaring, Ryan Zaring, Morgan Zaring Prisco, Lauren Zaring Thompson, Camden Jayce Bentley-Johnson, Carter Gray Bentley-Johnson, Kyler Ann Bentley-Johnson, and numerous great-grandchildren and friends.
Preceding Dennis in death were his parents and wife, Kathi.
A Celebration of Life is pending at a future date. Lux Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX is handling arrangements. Burial will be at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, Iowa.

Obituary Preview: New Braunfels, Texas—Lorrie Jerde, who focused his life on rural betterment in the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota, died Monday, June 12, 2023 at Vitas Hospice in San Antonio. He was 83.
Lorrie Dean Jerde was born January 19, 1940, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Crookston, Minn. to Albert and Orpha (Berhow) Jerde. He grew up on the family farm four miles northwest of Fertile, Minn. in Liberty Township, Polk County. He focused his life on active participation in family farm operations. As a youth, he earned ribbons in 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) competitions for showing Columbia sheep. As a senior class member of the Fertile-Beltrami High School FFA, he attended the National FFA Convention in the fall of 1957 in Kansas City.
A high school vocational agriculture teacher encouraged Lorrie to attend North Dakota Agricultural College, now North Dakota State University, in Fargo, N.D. He participated in the generation that sought to improve agriculture through scientific methods. Lorrie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1963. While at NDSU, he was a member of the Farmer’s Union Co-Op House.
On a blind date, Lorrie met his future wife, Carol Diane Nygaard. They were married the following year on July 18, 1965, at First Lutheran Church in Enderlin, N.D. They loved to go dancing and regularly attended the Eagles Club in Fargo. To this union were born three children: Jay, Ryan, and Heide. They started their family in Fargo and West Fargo, lived briefly in Steele, N.D., and resided in Hillsboro, N.D. before moving to New Braunfels in 2022.
For 36 years, Lorrie worked for Farmers Home Administration (FmHA), later Rural Development, of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in agriculture lending. For most of his career, he served as assistant or full county supervisor at the Traill County FmHA office in Hillsboro. He helped many farmers through the Farm Crisis of the 1980s and 1990s and received commendations from the USDA for his work.
Aviation always fascinated Lorrie. He worked with the spray crews of Walters Aviation in Fertile as a summer job in college and obtained a private pilot’s license in his twenties. While in college, Lorrie joined the North Dakota Air National Guard and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio in the summer of 1962. He served for 25 years as a crew chief on the flight line responsible for maintaining and servicing jet aircraft, primarily T-33 trainer jets, for the 119th Fighter Interceptor Group, the “Happy Hooligans” at Hector Field in Fargo. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant.
Lorrie participated in countless organizations. He was Commander of the Lynn Spiering American Legion Post No. 4 in Hillsboro. From 1991 to 2008, he served on the Hillsboro Airport Authority, contributing many years as board secretary. He dedicated his later years as a member and officer of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge No. 10, where he was Treasurer for many years and a Past Master. He was a Kiwanian and in his years of retirement volunteered for the Hillsboro food pantry. Lorrie was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.
Lorrie is survived by his wife, Carol; sons Jay (Lyn), Madison, Wis., Ryan (Karla), Bristow, Va., and Heide (Doug), New Braunfels; grandchildren Alexis and Evan; brother, Jim, Crookston, Minn.; and nieces and nephews.

Lester Anthony Saucier, Jr. - January 07, 1942 - May 31, 2023

Obituary Preview: On May 31, 2023, Lester Anthony Saucier, Jr. completed his masterwork of a life at 81 years. He had a talent for Engineering, design, and most of all an ability to make people laugh, feel at ease, and pass a good time. These talents gave meaning to the lives of his gregarious family of 8 children, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with another on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He never met a stranger and if so, they would probably become friends.
Born on January 7, 1942 in Plaucheville, Louisiana at home, the culture, and colors of Louisiana never left him; he loved his home state and was proud to have been born there. He attended University of Southwestern Louisiana holding a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. A large portion of his education toward his degree was in the fields of mechanical and civil engineering. He practiced professional engineering from 1971 until 1 week before his passing. In his past employments, he served as an engineer with civil engineering responsibility at Gulf States Utilities Company. He has served as the building inspector for Bridge City, Texas and as the building and code inspector for the City of West Orange, Texas.
He owned his own engineering consulting firm where he provided the engineering expertise for residential, commercial and governmental projects. He was a qualified windstorm inspector for the Texas Department of Insurance; and held a certificate from Texas A & M Engineering for Gulf Coast Hurricanes. He held certification from Texas A & M for On-site Sewer Facilities for design and inspection by the State of Texas for soil evaluation for foundation design and repair, with American Society of Civil Engineers for the design of structures, international building and residential council, and with Texas Commission of Environmental Quality for the design, engineering, inspection and repair of sewer and water facilities. Lester was a registered home inspector by the Texas Housing Inspection Foundation. He was a member of the Southern Building Code Congress International and a member and certified by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He was a registered Texas Engineer Inspector for the Texas Risk Management. He was recently recognized for outstanding service to the State of Texas as a Professional Engineer for over 50 years by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
For over thirty years he owned and operated a general construction company in the Golden Triangle Area of Texas, where he served as general contractor on residential and commercial projects. His involvement required the management and design of water and rain drainage and management of groundwater control. Lester grew up Catholic and was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic church in Plaucheville, La, St. Henry's Catholic Church in Bridge City, Texas and St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, New Braunfels, TX. He was a 3rd Degree Member of Council No. 3406, Knights of Columbus in Bridge City, Texas
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Bridge City-Orangefield for 17 years with perfect attendance. He was a past Assistant District Governor, a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, A Benefactor and served on numerous Fundraisers and club projects. The project he was most proud of was an International Project for providing water wells in Nicaragua where he traveled with other local Rotarians from District 5910 to oversee the project. He attended several International Conventions and while attending in New Orleans brought back information on Josh the Otter Program that teaches elementary school children about learning how to float to prevent drowning. This program continues to this day in elementary schools in Bridge City and Orangefield.
The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce was an organization in which he served on numerous committees and projects. He was a Lifetime Ambassador with the Chamber and served on the board of directors.
He was a member of Sunset Country Club in Orange, TX. and an avid golfer. He played in numerous tournaments there, and so enjoyed playing with his friends and family several times a month. He enjoyed going to North and South Carolina to play in The Dupont Amateur Championship of which his Daughter Donna introduced him to.
He was so proud of being a founding member of Krewe du Bayou in Orange. He was always there to help on the float for the parade and taking part in the festivities. Being named Duke of the Krewe in 2019.
Besides Golf his hobbies and interests included fishing, hunting, boating, camping, gardening, gambling, cruising and traveling. He loved people and never passed up a chance to entertain, especially when it came to his crawfish boils. He was passionate about football, especially ULL, LSU and New Orleans Saints. Lester had a way with animals and could never say no to taking in a rescue.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester A. Saucier, Sr. and Marie Saucier, daughter Donna Saucier Ferchak and late wife, Arlene Thibodeaux Saucier. He is survived by his wife, Marialeice Jeffcote Saucier; seven children, Jade M. Saucier and wife Karen, Dana M.Dupuis and husband John, Tammy A. Saucier, Erron L. Saucier and wife Erika, Marc G. Saucier, Dominic J. Colletti, and Adrienne Poni Colletti; sister, Alice M. Duncan and husband Henry; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with another on the way; 2 great-great grandchildren, 5 Sister-in-laws, 5 Brother-in-laws; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Lester's grandchildren hold him in their hearts and are his Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Ferchak, Jr. (Dick), Amy Ferchak-Petrie, John E. Dupuis, Jr. (Jed), Ashlyn Ewest, Amy Dupuis, Ralph Fournier Ill (Trey), Haylee Fournier, Bryce Saucier, Mitchell Saucier (Mitch), Alexandra Saucier (Alex), Blake Saucier, Gabriella Saucier (Gabi), Enzo Platt, and Ezekiel Platt (Zeke).
A rosary will be held at Lux Funeral Home Chapel, 1254 N. Business IH35, New Braunfels, TX. 78130 on June 24th at 11:00 AM followed by a memorial service.
Donations in Lester's name may be made to the charity of your choice. In the near future his ashes will be scattered in Cow Bayou in Bridge City, Texas at his request.

Austin was born on February 16, 1998 to William and Roongtong Esplen in Texarkana, Texas. In 2001, his family moved to New Braunfels where Austin resided for the remainder of his life.
He attended schools within NBISD and met many kind and compassionate teachers and classmates. In 2016, Austin graduated from New Braunfels High School and attended the Life Bridges and Gateway programs the following four years where he formed lifelong friendships.
Austin passions included playing video games and watching shows like Spongebob Squarepants, Wheel of Fortune, and WWE. On the weekends, he looked forward to playing baseball with the New Braunfels Arc Angels and going out to eat with his friends afterwards. Austin was always filled with happiness and had a positive outlook on life. He was a source of light for everyone who knew him, and his joyful spirit will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his parents, William and Roongtong Esplen, and his sister, Hillary Esplen, who will greatly miss the laughter, singing, and smiles he filled their home with.

Jesse Navarro - August 29, 1951 - May 17, 2023

Obituary Preview: Jesse Navarro, 71, of New Braunfels, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at his home after a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 29, 1951, in Seguin, he was the son of the late Jesse Navarro and Theodora Gomez Ybarra.
Jesse spent his childhood living both in Galveston as well as in Seguin. Jesse chose to serve his country with the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 and trained as a diesel engine mechanic. Once he was honorably discharged, Jesse attended St. Phillips College in San Antonio and eventually opened his own automotive repair shop and towing service in New Braunfels, Navarro’s Truck and Auto Repair. After being in operation for 30 years, Jesse decided to change careers and spent several years working in security services for both public and private agencies. Upon retirement, Jesse’s passion for working on automobiles continued and he spent many afternoons working on cars with his children and grandchildren. If you asked Jesse, his greatest life accomplishment was being a husband, father, and grandpa. Everyone will greatly miss him for his silly sense of humor, deep love for his family and friends, and fighting spirit.
Jesse is survived by his wife and love of his life of 51 years, Olivia Gomez Navarro; children, Leticia Navarro, Gloria Navarro, Alice Navarro, and Jesse Navarro III; grandchildren, Marc Martinez, Corina Ochoa, Jeremiah Ochoa, Jacob Martinez, Breanna Ochoa, Jailey Navarro, and Brandon Zapata; great-grandchildren, Ivory Butrico and Zachary Camp; sisters, Mary Ann Aguilar and Dolores M. Martinez; and brothers, Daniel Ybarra, Louis Ybarra, and Domingo Gomez. Jesse is preceded in death by his beloved dog, Java.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Sundance Inn Health Center and Elara Caring Hospice (especially Katherine, Jon, and Brandy) for the excellent care provided to both Jesse and his family during these last couple of weeks.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-9:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in New Braunfels. A reception will follow afterward at the family residence in New Braunfels.

Obituary Preview: Eloisa Guzman, 69, of Seguin, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 in New Braunfels. Born on June 5, 1953 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Marcos Gutierrez Chavez and Alicia Mancilla Barrera Gutierrez.
Eloisa is survived by her husband, Alberto Guzman; children, Yadira “Diane”, Maria del Rosario “Rosie”, Adrian and his wife Patricia, Jose Manuel “Joey”, Reynaldo Garza, and Zoila Alicia “Zoey” Garza Ortiz and husband Jose Angel “Duck”; Grandchildren, Desirae, Destiny Marie, Daisy Danielle, Jessica, Cameron “CJ”, Adrian, Jr. “AJ”, Adriana, Haley, Kacey, Denali, Dahlia, Amesty Rae, Kyler, Josiah; Great-grandchildren, Alan, Jr., Alynah, Aria, Kinsley, Mason, Jaxon, Izaiah, Zadie, Liam, Delilah, Jeremiah, Penelope; sister, Beatrice Gutierrez.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
Eloisa was a housekeeping manager for over 25 years, and also enjoyed cleaning and decorating her own home. She loved watching wrestling, Spanish futbol, and boxing. Her favorite things were singing, playing Bingo, shopping at Goodwill, Tequila Rose and having coffee with her girls. She cherished the time spent with her family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Lux Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-9:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Holy Family Church with reception to follow.
