Harold Westmoreland Jr. - April 19, 1957 - April 21, 2022

Departed: 04/21/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Mr. Francis “Harold” Westmoreland Jr., 65, of Lumberton, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Harold was born on Friday, April 19, 1957, in Kountze, Texas to Francis Harold Westmoreland Sr. and Lillian Peral (Courts) Westmoreland. Raised in Silsbee, Texas, Harold was known best in his school years as “Big Daddy” and proudly played football with his best friends throughout high school, graduating from Silsbee High School in 1975. After graduation, Harold began his life-long pursuit of higher education and would go on to obtain 3 separate bachelor’s degrees in Banking, Business, and Respiratory Therapy.
Harold was a well-known and outstanding member of the Silsbee and Lumberton communities during his lifetime. As a dedicated banker for 29 years, many of the founding buildings in Lumberton were financed with his assistance. In the early 1990’s, Harold was the president of the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce and is even recognized for his assistance in helping establish City Hall in Lumberton. During the last 8 years of his working career, Harold was a Respiratory Practitioner and worked at UTMB Galveston until his health encouraged him into an early retirement.
It is often said that behind every great man is a great woman, and in Harold’s life that was certainly true. Harold was married to the love of his life, Trish Westmoreland, for 36 years. Together the two conquered life’s challenges, built a family, and were the best partner in life that the other could ever ask for.
Harold was a wonderful father to his two children, Kayla and Devin. A best friend and fellow civil war reenactor with his son Devin and a devoted “PawPaw” to Kayla’s two children there was little that either of his children ever needed that he didn’t attempt to provide.
When he had spare time, Harold loved to work on woodworking projects and reenact Civil War battles- his favorite battle of course being Gettysberg. Harold and Devin were honored to have had the opportunity to participate in a reenactment of Gettysberg for the film Gettysberg and to have been included in the 150TH anniversary reenactment of Antietam.
Harold dry sense of humor, strong sense of community, and heart for his family will be deeply missed and the loss of such a man will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Trish (Blackwell) Westmoreland of Lumberton; his two children: Devin Westmoreland of Lumberton, and Kayla Westmoreland of Lumberton; his two grandchildren: Layla Bourque, and Raylan Bourque; as well as numerous friends, work colleagues, and church family members through the years.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Westmoreland Sr. and Lillian Peral (Courts) Westmoreland.
To honor Harold’s life a time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crestwood Baptist Church of Lumberton (1150 US-69 Kountze, TX 77625) with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM. Harold will be laid to rest at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze, TX following the services on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Larry "PawPaw" Wayne Bryan - May 29, 1947 - April 21, 2022

Departed: 04/21/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Mr. Larry “PawPaw” Wayne Bryan, 74, of Buna passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Larry was born on Thursday, May 29, 1947, in Zavalla, Texas to Earl Bryan and Etta Rose Lee (Lakey) Bryan.
Larry was a man of few words, who had the kind of determined work-ethic that you just don’t see much these days. A devoted husband to his late wife, Linda, and loving father to his two daughters- nothing gave Larry as much joy as his family. When later in life, Larry gained the title of “PawPaw” his love of his grandchildren and especially his great-grandson could be matched by none.
Over the course of Larry’s life, he had many roles that gave him pride; a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with pride in the United States Air Force, a journeyman electrician and supervisor, and of course his most prominent title of jack-of-all-trades. There was nothing that Larry couldn’t do if he put his mind to it. A hard worker, Larry knew when it was time to get the job done and never complained a day in his life about doing what needed doing to take care of his family. However, whenever he got the opportunity Larry could be found pursuing his two favorite hobbies- fishing and hunting; just don’t bother asking him which he preferred, because the answer was whatever season it currently was.
A man of his word and extremely smart, Larry was a man worth listening to when he decided to speak up, and he made some of the best homemade wine you’ve ever had. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and family stewardship that will not soon be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Laurie Honea and boyfriend Edward Clakley, and Lea Bryan; his grandchildren: Kristina Honea and boyfriend Trent Allen, James Ray Honea and wife Racheal, Shelby Murphy, and Jacob Murphy; his great-grandson, Gavin Moore; his sister, Lynette Hopkins Barks and Damien Grisham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and co-workers throughout the many years.
Larry is preceded in death by beloved wife, Linda Carol (Hopkins) Bryan; his parents, Earl Bryan and Etta Rose Lee (Lakey) Bryan; and his brothers: Eugene Bryan and wife Ina, Beauford Bryan, and Robert Bryan and wife Ruthie.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Riceland Hospice for their exceptional compassion and care of Larry while he was home.
To honor Larry’s life a visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022, for 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Lumberton Family Funeral Home (766 S. Main St., Lumberton, TX 77657) with funeral services with full military honors to begin at 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be James Ray Honea, Jacob Murphy, Joseph Wayne Hopkins, David Bryan, Russell Bryan, Jason Bryan, Glenn Bryan, and Earl Bryan.

Sheila Ann Alexander - April 22, 1969 - April 18, 2022

Departed: 04/18/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Ms. Sheila Ann Alexander, 52, of Silsbee, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022, in Silsbee, Texas. Sheila was born on Tuesday, April 22, 1969, in Pasadena Texas to David Elman Alexander and Johnnie Faye (Hooks) Alexander. At a young age Sheila’s father passed and she was blessed to have been raised by her lifelong dad, Rusty Cravey; together Johnnie and Rusty raised their family of four children, giving each of their children a loving and supportive family that could be depended on to always be there for each other. As Sheila moved into adulthood and started her own family, the tradition of a loving and supportive home for her children continued in her. A dedicated and compassionate mother, Sheila put her family about all else around her; nothing made her happier than the addition of the title of “Granny” when her 7 grandchildren began arriving. Not surprisingly, Sheila took to her role as Granny with the same devotion she’d given to her own children and was an even BETTER Granny!
Sheila was fun to be around, to know her was to enjoy her company. When she had time to herself, she enjoyed a good game of pool, coloring, feeding the geese, and fishing. Sheila always looked forward to family gatherings more than anything and it was when her family was surrounding her that she truly showed how big of a heart could fit into just under 5 feet. Truly beautiful inside and out, Sheila will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her dad, Rusty Cravey; her daughters, Ashley Faye Alexander, and Amanda Sue Alexander and husband Brian Bernier; her brother, Mitchell Cravey and wife Honey; her sister, Angel Gordon and husband Darrell; and her seven beautiful grandchildren; as well as numerous friends and extended family member through the years.
Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, David Elman Alexander and Johnnie Faye (Hooks) Alexander; and her brother, Alton “Bubba” Alexander.
To celebrate the extraordinary legacy of love that was the life of Sheila Ann “Noodle” Alexander, the family will have a Memorial Service at a later date. Please check back soon for updated information on service details.

Paul "Papa" Koehler - August 09, 1944 - April 12, 2022

Departed: 04/12/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Paul "Papa" Frederick Koehler of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2022, at the age of 77. Paul was born August 9, 1944, in Houston to Fred and Mildred Koehler.
He was a graduate of both Beaumont High School and Lamar Institute of Technology who always loved animals, his brothers, and parents.  Growing up he and his 2 brothers had 3 ducks, ironically named Huey, Dewey, and Louie.  As a young boy he won a school-wide award for the best handwriting, to which his mother was very proud of.  He often said his middle name was “chocolate”, just like his mom, because of his love of EVERYTHING sweet.
He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received numerous medals and commendations.  He served on both the USS Ticonderoga and USS Kearsarge where he learned his trade as a very skilled machinist.  He recently told the story of a ship captain seeking him out from the machine shop to make a windshield wiper for the sea spray, and when telling the story, he reminisced proudly when saying “…and it worked!!!”  He was a perfectionist who could literally fix anything. He retired from both NL Shaffer and National Oilwell Varco (formerly X L Systems) where he enjoyed his work and work family. It was there that the guys gave him the name “Papa”. He was a man of very few words, extremely patient, kind, and gentle. He had the sweetest smile and a dry sense of humor. He is best remembered spending his days outside in jeans, a denim shirt, ball cap, boots and a dog or animal in his lap.  Above all these qualities and achievements, his truest love and passion was his family. He loved his wife Carol, two girls and four grandchildren. He attended as many school and family events as possible or cheered them on from afar when unable to attend. During COVID while being stuck in the house, he would joke daily that he “was going to fuel up the jet plane and they were going on a trip to….”  This week he took the ULTIMATE  jet ride. Fly high Paul/Dad/Papa! We all love you and will see you again!
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carol Ann Koehler of Lumberton, his children, Tasha Sterling and husband Billy of Austin, and Tonya DeRouen and husband Greg of Lumberton.  His grandchildren, Baylie Fox of Lumberton, Jacob Byerly of Austin, Landen Fox of Lumberton, and Shelby Byerly of Austin.  His brother, Wayne Koehler, and wife Judy of Lumberton; as well as numerous loved ones, extended family, and a great many friends through the years.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mildred Koehler, as well as his brother Dale William Koehler, M.D.
Paul’s celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Lumberton Family Funeral Home.

Joyce Tallina - July 28, 1944 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Joyce “Granny” Marie (McInnis) Tallina, 77, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. Joyce was born in Beaumont on Friday, July 28, 1944, to Raymond and Joyce McInnis.
Joyce was a beautiful, sweet spirited woman. She enjoyed the simple things in life, like, sitting on the front porch sipping coffee and watching the hummingbirds flutter. Joyce drove a school bus for many years at Lumberton ISD and the stories that many could tell of their days riding her bus are definitely worth hearing! On Sundays she loved rocking babies in the nursery at her church, Calvary North, and although her health kept her from serving at times, she never stopped talking about those babies. Joyce also adored her Connection Group and considered every single one of them family. She loved Jesus and understood what it meant to be the hands and feet. She never met a stranger & those who knew her, loved her, and knew they were loved in return. She treated everyone kindly because everyone mattered to her. Joyce was never one to dismiss anyone who had a need. Even if she couldn’t fulfill that need, she went out of her way to check on them and offer prayer or some of her good ol’ banana pudding. (If you know, you know) But most importantly, she loved her family and she never took a single second with them for granted. She always made time for her family. She taught them to love one another and to make time for the important stuff, because at the end of the day, family was all they had. Joyce was selfless, loving, and full of grace; she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love will live on in the lessons she passed down to so many.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie Stevens and husband Ricky, Georgia “Sissy” Pickett and husband James, Allen Tallina and wife Sara, Chris Tallina and wife Summer; her grandchildren, Nicci Hill, Alyssa Overby and husband Thomas, Jenifer Cook and husband Greg, Jill Pickett, Robin Mires and husband Mo, Josh Tallina and wife Kayla, Danielle Williams and husband Hunter, Cody Tallina and wife Adrienne, Madison Keel, Aaron Edmonds, Caden Tallina, Gavin Tallina, and Jaxan Tallina; her 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Raymond Jean McInnis Jr., Nancy Hogan, Naida McInnis, Mary Evans, and Sue McInnis, as well as numerous extended family members, friends, the numerous passengers on her school bus, and her waffle house friends through the years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Jean McInnis Sr. and Joyce Belle (Royer) McInnis; her loving husband of 51 years, George Allen Tallina; and her daughter, Brenda Tallina.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church North Campus (395 Fletcher Rd., Lumberton, TX 77657). Joyce's life honoring funeral service will begin following the time of visitation at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church North Campus (395 Fletcher Rd., Lumberton, TX 77657). She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Leatherwood Cemetery in Lumberton, TX immediately following the funeral services.

Janette "Net" Williams - February 28, 1945 - March 22, 2022

Departed: 03/22/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Thelma "Net" Janette (Moss) Williams, 77, of Buna, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and with her beloved husband by her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Net was born on Wednesday, February 28, 1945, in Silsbee to Myrtle (Bohler) Moss Goings.
Net, as she was best known by everyone, was one of seven children and spent her entire life here in Southeast Texas. A woman of many accomplishments from even a young age, Net was an athletic youth who excelled at her local high school in Evadale at every sport. Graduating with many honors such as Homecoming Queen ’60, Ms. Rebel ’62, and Football Sweetheart ’62, Net would go on to her biggest accomplishment in life- becoming a wife, mother, grandmother, and the heart of her family. Net was married to the love of her life, Jerry Don Williams for 58 years and the two would have celebrated their 59th year of marriage July 6th of this year. Jerry and Net were blessed with two children and enough loved ones and friends that their home was always a place of welcome and activity. Net was a homemaker and when not defending her territory in her kitchen she was most likely to be found in her yard working away. Net loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, time spent at the lake with her family, and of course working on her yard. A talented seamstress and artist, Net loved to express herself in homemade decorations and loved to draw and paint. When Net became a grandmother, she added another role to her life that she excelled at; Net loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and was so proud of everything they did.
Many things about Net will be missed, her cooking and baking for any occasion, her ritual coffee in the mornings and evenings, and her dancing around the kitchen with her beloved husband. A life of 77 years of memories and moments will not soon be forgotten and she will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Net’s memory is her beloved husband of more than 58 years, Jerry Don Williams; her children: Jeff Williams and wife Ginger, and Paula Petty and husband Kirk; her grandchildren: Brandi Spoonemore and husband Chevy, Haley Gordon and husband Bryan, Justin Williams, Karley Woods and husband Colt, Garrett Beard and wife Hannah, and Docia Williams; her great-grandchildren: Peyton Spoonemore, Sophia Spoonemore, Piper Spoonemore, Bryndal Gordon, Jeremiah Beard, and Kooper Woods; her siblings: Arthur Earl Moss, Henry Joe Moss, Yvonne Mitchell, and Glenda Womack; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends through the years.
Net is preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle (Bohler) Moss Goings; her in-laws, J.D. Williams and Dorothy (Robert) Williams; her brother, Carl Edward Moss, and her sister, Faye Marie Moss.
To honor Net's life a time of visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church Evadale (43368 US Highway 96 S, Buna, TX). Sandra Kay Bailey - May 07, 1953 - March 15, 2022

Departed: 03/15/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Sandra “Sandy” Kay (Gaspard) Bailey, 68, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Sandy was born on Thursday, May 7, 1953, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas to her parents Mr. Joseph Whitney Gaspard and Mrs. Lydia (Kaufman) Gaspard.
Sandy spent her entire life living here in Lumberton where her childhood home was a house beside the banks of Village Creek and her favorite place to be the treehouse in the backyard. One of five children, Sandy spent her younger years surrounded by her siblings and friends. As she got older her love of animals would lead Sandy to rescue and help any animal in need that she could; her tender heart towards animals would never let her see an animal suffer. A hard-working woman, Sandy began her career with Entergy as just a home inspector and would work her way up into administration and billing for Entergy during the more than 30 years she spent with the company. Sandy took great comfort in her devotion to her faith and family and was devout Jehovah’s Witness. There are many things to remember and cherish about the legacy of a life such as Sandy’s and more than anything else, those that knew Sandy best remark that the world is a lesser place for the lack of her kindness and giving heart.
Left to honor her memory are her siblings: Lorna Mae Wade of Bridge City, Marshall Trent Gaspard of Houston, and her brother-in-law Rodney Cox of Bridge City; her nieces and nephews: Shelby Dawn Wade and fiancé Dalyn J. Wilson II and their son Dalyn J. Wilson III, Carly Lynn Cox and husband Troy Palombo, and Christopher Dylan Cox; her beloved 3 rescued dogs and cat; as well as numerous friends and extended family through the years.

Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Sikes - May 13, 1945 - February 16, 2022

Departed: 02/16/2022 (Lumberton)
Obituary Preview: Mrs. Elizabeth Ann (Tucker) Sikes, 76, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the last of the five homes that she and her beloved husband built together. Elizabeth was born in Beaumont, Texas on Sunday, May 13, 1945, to Arthur and June Tucker and was one of their two daughters. Liz as she was best known, was many things but above all she was a faithful Christian woman with a kind servant’s heart who loved in a way that leaves a mark on every life she touched. Liz married the love of her life at just 18 years old, and James and Liz spent 52 and a half years together tackling the world and every challenge that life threw their way. A woman of many talents and such internal strength as to leave her friends in awe, Liz raised her family and then continued to keep children in her home in a home day-care. Each of the children that came into Liz’s life became as family and she truly loved all those around her. When her beloved husband James passed in 2016, Liz and her cousin Judy became thick as thieves; quickly deciding to spread love and joy through cookies and warm smiles to not only Altus Hospice who so lovingly cared for her husband, but also first responders and other nursing homes in the area. Her skill in the kitchen when it came to the instinctual baking of her famous cookies was rivaled by none. Liz was known by many names: Granny to her grandchildren, Meme to friends and her church family, and of course the famous and giving Mrs. Liz to those she visited with baked goods and love. The legacy of Liz’s life is love; love for all around her and while she may have joined her beloved husband in Heaven, her impact and example will not soon be forgotten.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, James "Jimmy" Edward Sikes II and wife Amanda of Spring; her grandchildren, Alex and Kyle Sikes; her sister, Janie Sue Elick of Houston; her niece and nephew, April Herm and Boyd Herm; and her great-niece, Emily Elick.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Boyd Tucker and June Turner Tucker; and her beloved husband, James Edward Sikes.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Lumberton. Elizabeth's life honoring funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Lumberton and she will be laid to rest next to her husband following the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas.

Born on Wednesday, August 24, 1932, in Waldron, Kansas to her parents Charles Eli McCartney and Fannie Maud (Hess) McCartney, Ileta was one of two children. Ileta was a spitfire of a woman with a heart the size of Texas. She loved deeply and her family was always first in her world; everything she did, she did to be able to provide or care for her family. A proud RN, Ileta spent her career caring for others and was extremely proud of her advanced certifications that allowed her to pursue her dream job as a scrub nurse. Devotion and dedication are qualities that make people stand out in a crowd and Ileta had those in spades. When her children were younger, Ileta developed a love for camping and always had a soft spot for animals. In fact, had Ileta not found her calling as a RN, she would have made a wonderful vet and enjoyed living vicariously through her favorite T.V. veterinarian Dr. Pohl. Ileta loved her sweets, especially homemade, and a good football game as well- and if you couldn’t find a good game to watch, she’d always settle for watching CNN. Her interests may have varied over time but her warm countenance and loving heart never did. Regardless of how you knew Ileta, to know her was to love her and to be loved by her; her calming presence and positive impact on the world around her will be sorely missed and she will not soon be forgotten.
