Bob Hadrick - May 06, 1950 - October 13, 2020

Departed: 10/13/2020 (Faulkton)
Obituary Preview: Bob Hadrick, 70, of Faulkton, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastors Darla Hadrick and Tom Sumers officiating. Burial with military honors followed at the Faulkton Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton and 1:00 p.m., Monday at the church.
He was the youngest son of Louis and Bertha Hadrick and arrived in the world at the Faulkton Hospital in the midst of a blizzard on May 6, 1950. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1968. He went on to attend Northern State College and received his teaching degree in 1973. His passion was more for farming than teaching, so he joined the family farming operation near Faulkton in 1975 when his dad retired. He continued farming until his health wouldn’t allow him to do the demanding work. He retired and passed the torch on to the next generation.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Stammer), on July 18, 1970. They did everything together and celebrated the milestone of 50 beautiful years of marriage this summer. They were genuinely blessed with two sons, Troy and Aaron, the pride and joy of their parents. Bob loved people! He was a caring, outgoing guy who always had a friendly greeting and a smile for everyone. He could have a lengthy conversation with a total stranger and was always surrounded by a huge circle of friends. You always knew when he was in the room as his special laugh and voice resonated!
In 2005, Bob was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and he received a stem cell transplant in 2006. He became a poster child of how to be a survivor. Even though he took chemo almost daily for years on end, he remained positive. He didn’t let his cancer interfere with living life to the fullest, and ultimately did not let that defeat him.
After surviving the transplant, he checked one item off his bucket list by purchasing his yellow Corvette, fulfilling a lifelong dream. He loved driving his Corvette any chance he could get, whether it was taking trips to the Black Hills or just going for a Sunday drive. Time spent with friends on trips also created memories that he held dear.
And then there are the grandchildren! He was the proudest grandpa to Teigen, Olivia, Reese and Hudson. They lit up his world and always gave him the biggest smiles! He was one of their biggest fans, cheering them on from the sidelines of a football field, wrestling mat, volleyball court, cross country course or soccer field. There was never a lack of words when he got the opportunity to brag about them. He loved to talk to them about their games or hear about any of their other adventures. They made his life and heart full.
Bob was very community minded and belonged to many organizations and served on various boards throughout the years. He was quick to say yes when asked to lend a helping hand. He was currently on the Board of Directors for the Faulkton Area Medical Center. In his younger years, Bob served 6 years in the SD National Guard and US Army Reserves. He was proud to serve his country and continued on by playing an important role in the Faulkton Memorial Day Service. Laying the wreaths at the Faulkton cemetery was one of his biggest honors. He was proud of the comments people would give him about his professionalism and tribute to the veterans.
His life and love will forever be cherished by his wife, Marilyn, his sons, Troy (Stacy) of Faulkton, and Aaron (Brittney) of Tea, SD, and his four grandchildren, Teigen, Olivia, and Reese of Faulkton and Hudson of Tea; sisters-in-law, Vicki (Jay) Bachmayer and Ardyce, Jean and Janice Hadrick plus many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his in-laws, Wayne and Betty Stammer, his brothers Charles, Donald and Harold Hadrick, and sister-in-law Virginia (Roger) Gamo.

Trevor Lee Yamoah Kruthoff was born August 18, 2007 in Faulkton, SD at the Faulkton Area Medical Center in the early morning to Andrea Geist and Jordan Kruthoff. The moment he arrived, we knew he was a blessing, a gift from above. Trevor’s laugh and smile could lighten up any dull moment and brighten up the room with his corky wheezing laugh! While he kicked his legs in excitement, what a joy he was to be around.
Little man Trevor loved to listen to his record player daily. He loved Jam, Future, Kendrick, Bigg, Pac, J.Cole, Michael Jackson, and many more. His taste for music was quite on point, if you interrupted his sessions, you would get the death glare, because you never messed with his Jam sessions! Other things Trevor loved to do was have slumber parties with his younger brother, Carter. The bond those two had was truly amazing, they were inseparable, glued at the hip. Trevor also loved it when Carter would read to him every night before bed. He loved the long road trips taken to go see grandma and grandpa. He knew every time he was with grandma; he had her wrapped around his little finger. They enjoyed the swing they had built for them to spend time in. Spending time with his best friends, enjoying quality music sessions with his dad “wink, wink”. Dad would tell them about the ladies’ new albums about to drop, about sports, and vent about work. Trevor loved it when his dad would talk smack about his co-workers, made him laugh his butt off but that was Trevor, he loved curse words. LOL!
Trevor’s life will be treasured by his parents: Andrea Geist and Michael Yamoah; father, Jordan Kruthoff; brother: Carter Kruthoff; grandparents: Rick and Diane Geist and Mavis Mkansah, Steve Kruthoff, and Carol McKallister; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lorraine attended high school at Loyalton until the school closed. She finished her senior year at Ipswich, graduating with the class of 1947. She furthered her education at Northern State Teacher's College, after which she taught in rural schools in Edmunds and Faulk counties. Lorraine loved teaching, and many students have visited and kept in touch over the decades. Once, while driving to Faulkton, upon passing the long-abandoned Reed School, she remarked that was the only school she taught at that had an indoor toilet a chemical toilet in the basement. Posh to be sure, as someone from the county came to clean it once a week. In 1962 she was hired as a substitute postmaster in Wecota, later becoming the Wecota postmaster herself, and was in charge of closing it. She then began working as a postal clerk in Cresbard in 1976 and was appointed to be the postmaster in 1983. Lorraine retired in 1990. Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who need to know about the funeral or memorial service. They also provide a sense of closure and allow people to pay their respects to the deceased.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, the family members or close friends of the deceased write the obituary. However, it's not uncommon for funeral homes or obituary writers to assist with writing and publishing the obituary.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A standard obituary should include the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. You may also want to include information about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations, or other relevant details.
