Don A. Picciano Sr. - Unknown - October 08, 2021

Departed: 10/08/2021 (Serving Greater Cleveland)
Obituary Preview: Don A. Picciano, Sr., 69, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, who will continue to honor his legacy.
Don was born in the Collinwood neighborhood and was the son of Domenic Picciano and Constance Meske.  He grew up in Euclid, residing for most of his life in Mayfield Heights and Highland Heights, and retired in Port Orange, Florida.
He was a 1970 graduate of Euclid High School, ran track, and enjoyed numerous other sports. He went on to attend Kent State University for one year. Don was a devoted Cleveland Sports fan, particularly the Cleveland Browns, who provided much excitement and too much aggravation to his Sunday afternoons.  One of his fondest childhood memories was attending the 1964 Championship Game against the Baltimore Colts. Don also enjoyed most leisure sports, such as bowling and golfing with friends.
After high school, he began his career at Faflik Shoes and then Bill’s Shoes, where Don managed three stores. In 1984, Don opened The Original Absolute (initially named Absolute Car Grooming, Inc), the auto detailing shop he and his wife, Rosemarie, owned for over 34 years.  He was known to be very meticulous both in running his business and when lending a helping hand. He retired from the auto detailing business in 2017 and moved to Port Orange in 2018 to enjoy retirement. While living there, he worked at Summit Golf Range. Don was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange.
Don’s greatest commitment was to his family. On May 18, 1973, he married Rosemarie Seggio Picciano and together they raised two children, never missing a game or event. Rarely spending any moments apart, their marriage was a partnership and was based on great love and devotion. He took great pride in being a husband and father, and being a Papa to his grandchildren.  He always looked forward to visiting with his grandchildren, watching them play sports, and taking them on outings.
Devoted husband of Rosemarie, with whom he made a life for 48 years. Cherished father of Lisa (Mark) Swinarski, and their children Avery and Marisa, and Don Jr. (Cara) Picciano, and their children Giovanna, Daniela, and Donny III. Robert J. Hannan III - Unknown - September 07, 2021

Departed: 09/07/2021 (Serving Greater Cleveland)
Obituary Preview: Robert J. Hannan, III
Robert “Bobby” Hannan, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio, passed away on September 7, 2021.
Dear son of Robert J. Hannan, Jr. (deceased) and Viry (Roberto) Barrera-Flores. Loving brother of Jen (Matt) Zadell, Caitlin Hannan, and Molly Hannan. Adoring uncle of Connor and Liam. Loved by a large extended family and friends throughout Ohio, Texas, and Florida, especially his Uncle John and his best friends Brandon and Josh.
Life long resident of Northeast Ohio, Bobby’s biggest passions in life were football and his car. Bobby started playing football in elementary school at St. Ann’s in Cleveland Heights and played throughout his senior year at Willoughby South High School in Willoughby. He loved cheering on his local sports teams, and especially loved rooting for his alma mater, the Ohio State University. While football was his favorite sport, he was an all-around athlete and also participated in baseball, track, and wrestling. He deeply loved his family and was very proud of being the “cool uncle” to his two young nephews. He strongly valued his relationships with his friends and enjoyed spending his free time playing video games and watching football with them. As a child, he loved spending all his summers camping with his family in Geneva-on-the-Lake. Bobby loved being in nature, and carried this love of camping and nature into adulthood. Bobby had a strong work ethic and was very proud of the life he built for himself. He will be deeply missed.
In respect to his wishes, there will not be a service. His family asks that those who cared for him say a prayer or put him in their thoughts on Monday, 9/13 at 8:00pm. His mother would like for those who can to light a white candle at this time in his memory.
Bobby, May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It's often published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased, while also providing important information to those who need to know about the funeral or memorial service. They can also help family and friends process their grief by sharing memories and stories about the person who has passed away.

Who writes an obituary?

Typically, a family member or close friend of the deceased writes the obituary, with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer if needed. In some cases, the deceased may have written their own obituary in advance.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, hobbies, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, charitable donations in lieu of flowers, and any other relevant details.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform it will be published on. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from a few sentences to a few paragraphs at most.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many online obituary platforms and funeral home websites allow you to upload photos to accompany the obituary. This can be a meaningful way to share memories and personality traits of the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

Contact the newspaper's obituary department directly to inquire about their submission guidelines and deadlines. Be prepared to provide the necessary information and payment for publication.

Can I write my own obituary in advance?

Yes, many people choose to write their own obituaries in advance as a way to have control over how they are remembered and to spare their loved ones from having to do so during a difficult time.

Is it necessary to include every detail about the person's life in an obituary?

No, it's not necessary to include every detail about the person's life. Focus on sharing the most important and meaningful aspects of their life, personality, and accomplishments.

Can I include humor or anecdotes in an obituary?

How soon after someone passes away should an obituary be published?

Can I edit an obituary after it's been published?

In some cases, yes. If you notice errors or omissions in the published obituary, contact the publication or platform where it was published to request corrections. However, this may not always be possible.

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?

Can I use social media to share an obituary?
