Obituary Preview: Helen L. Weaver, 93, of Falmouth, Michigan and former Attica resident, passed away Sunday May 3, 2020, at the Quiet Creek Assisted Living in Falmouth.
She was born on August 17, 1926, in Celeryville, Ohio to Esko and Jacoba (Postema) Kok. Helen married Eldon David Weaver on Nov. 14, 1952 in Celeryville, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Melvin) Mulder of McBain , Michigan, and Karl (Sandy) Weaver of Attica, a son-in-law, Rich Marcusse of Falmouth, twelve grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren. She has one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Weaver of Attica.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Louise Mulder in 2004, three infants, a brother John (Margaret) Kok, a sister, Pauline (Roger) Babcock, and her in-laws, Harold (Marvis) Weaver, and Richard Weaver.
Helen worked as a secretary for an automobile dealership and a waitress at the Snow Whites Restaurant in Cadillac. She attended the Aetna Christian Reformed Church. She was a homemaker, and loved to crochet, play cards, watch games shows, and her dog Cookie. Eldon and Helen moved from Florida to the Falmouth area in 2004 from their home in Florida.
There will be a visitation for relatives and friends at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain on Wednesday May 6, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 pm., and another visitation for family and friends on Thursday May 7, 2020, from 7-9pm. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville.
A graveside services will be conducted Friday May 8, 2020, at 11:00 am. at the Attica-Venice Cemetery in Attica, with Rev. Ron Schock officiating.

Charles was born on June 19, 1945 in Bellevue, to the late Earl and Evelyn (Rohm) Potts. He married Marie (Hughes) on August 20, 2006 at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Marie of Bellevue, two daughters, Dawn (Gary) Hoepf of Republic, LaDonna (Gary) Bumb of Bellevue, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four sisters, Evelyn (James) Andrews of Bellevue, Shirley Mowery of Florida, Susan Graffice of Bellevue and Ruth (Ted) Warner of Bellevue. Charles was also survived by lots of nieces nephews who he loved very much.
Charlie was a truck driver for South Shore Transport and retired in 2008. He also was a grain farmer for many years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, Dean, Emery and Robert Potts, seven sisters, Jeanette Stout, Iona Tidd, Eleanor Auble, Velma Scherley, Mildred Niver, Dorothy Sweat and Janice Parks.
Graveside services for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at the Flat Rock cemetery. There will be a private family visitation held at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville.

Obituary Preview: Norman I. Hoffman Jr., 86, a former resident of Front Royal, Va., passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at the home of his daughter in Republic, Ohio.
Norman was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Culpeper County, Va., to Norman and Ethel L. (Corder) Hoffman Sr. He married Edna M. Pickrell on January. 21, 1955, in Front Royal, Va., and they were married 65 years. Edna now resides in Republic, Ohio.
Survivors include two sons, Andy (Tammy) Hoffman and Edward (Bonnie) Hoffman, both of Front Royal Va., one daughter, Norma Jeane (Tom) Taylor of Republic, Ohio with whom they made their residence with, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Lee Womack, and two brothers, William and Dr. Frank Hoffman, and a grandson.
Norman worked for many years as a carpenter for the Cumberland Homes. He also built several barns in the surrounding area. He was a US Navy veteran serving after the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Front Royal, a former member of the Massanutten Antique Tractor Club. He loved his horses and mules, and anything to do with farming, and he had a great love for the Lord.
There will be no funeral service held at this time. Burial will be at a later date at the Leeds Chapel Cemetery in Hume, Virginia. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville, Ohio, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Xenith was born February 16, 1931 in Old Fort, to Orley and Maudie (Hoke) Hemminger. She married George F. Allgyre on June 30, 1948 in Tiffin, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2020.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Allgyre and Roger Allgyre both of Bloomville, and Mark Allgyre of Tiffin, also two daughters, Diana (Brian) Cook of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Barbara of Tennessee, and eleven grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren, one brother, Larry Hemminger of Mansfield, four sisters, Oral Kirby, Bonny Rhoad, Betty Paul all of Tiffin and Mary Lou Neikirk of Republic.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Marshall Allgyre, a daughter, Lola Brockway, three brothers, Donald, George and Daryl Hemminger, two sisters, Lelah Daniel and Dana Fretz.
Xenith attended Bloomville High School, and she was very dedicated to God and her family.

Harold was born July 8, 1933 in New Riegel, to George and Rose (Holmer) Kelbley. He married Jean Ann Chaney on November 23, 1957, in St. Stephens, and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2018.
His family includes two sons, Larry Kelbley of Bloomville, Howard Kelbley of Tiffin, a daughter Diane Kelbley of Bucyrus, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, a brother Herman Kelbley of Waterville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Leonard, Don, and Edmund Kelbley, and a sister Evelyn Eigel.
Harold was a mechanic and had worked at Evert Brothers in Bellevue, and later at Gildermeister Motor Co. in Bellevue. He retired in 2008. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, and he was always trying to stay busy, and doing something around his home.
Visitation will be Sunday February 16, 2020, from 2-5 pm. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville. A prayer service will be conducted Sunday at 1:45 pm. at the funeral home. A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am. Monday February 17, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bloomville.

Mary was born May 1, 1941 in Willard, to Leo and Viola (Featheringill) Stockmaster. She Married John R. Schank on February 15, 1980 in Attica, and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2006.
Her family includes four daughters, Debra (Allan) Schoen of Attica, Darlene (Stephen) Hoepf of Republic, Donna (William) Valent of Kansas, and Diane (Rob ) Nutter of Attica, ten grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, a brother, Donald (Shirley) Stockmaster of Attica, a sister, Margaret Trauger of Dayton.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica. She enjoyed watching sprint car and NASCAR racing, going camping, and going to the Kenton Coondog trials, and being with her grandchildren.
She had worked at Pioneer Rubber Co. and later at R.R. Donnelley and Son in Willard. She retired in 2003.
Visitation will be Friday February 14, 2020, from 3-7 p.m. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm. Saturday February 15, 2020, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, with Rev. Nathan Bockrath and Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Attica.

Stephen L. Schaaf, 76, of Attica, passed away Friday morning February 7, 2020, at the Kobacker House in Columbus.
Steve was born March 19, 1943 in Bucyrus, to William E. and Mary (Wilford) Schaaf. He married Barbara Behm on March 28, 1964 in Bloomville, and she resides in Attica.
His family includes: a daughter, Theresa M. Schaaf and a son, Eric R. (Karen) Schaaf, both of Dublin, two grandchildren, Samantha E. and Adam W. Schaaf both of Dublin, two brothers, James (Judy) Schaaf of Attica, and Thomas (Sue) Schaaf of Bluffton. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Schaaf.
Steve had worked for many years at GTE, Verizon, and Frontier as a telephone installer, a cable splicer, and a switchman; he retired in 2013.He was a 1961 graduate of Attica High School, a member of Masonic Lodge #367 in Attica.
Visitation will be Tuesday February 11, 2020, from 5-8 p.m. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 12, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Washington, with Pastor Edward Hunker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca East Public Library in Attica, or to Ohio Health Hospice Kobacker House in Columbus.

Survivors include her mother, Evelyn Nagel of Willard, her husband of 63 years, David W. Thompson of Attica, her children, Donald (Kim) Thompson of Republic, Kay (Jack) Ward of Stow and Jeff (Leslie) Thompson of Massillon, seven grandchildren, Charissa (Jerry) Johnson, Curt (Kalie) Thompson, Jackie (Dan) Cianchetta, Jeffrey and Bradley Ward, Alexis and Trent Thompson, five great-grandchildren, Addison, Owyn and Bryce Johnson, Kendall and Hoyt Thompson and two babies due in March and June. Anita is also survived by a brother, Frederick "Yogi" (Donna) Nagel of Huron and a sister, Virginia (Tony) Predieri of Attica.
Anita was a 1956 graduate of Attica High School. Anita retired after thirty-one years of bus driving for the Seneca East Schools. She then volunteered at the Attica Food Pantry and the Seneca East Library. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Attica. Anita enjoyed traveling with her husband through forty-eight states and beyond. She was an avid walker, an OSU, Cleveland Indians and Cavs fan who loved her pets. Anita's greatest honor was becoming a grandmother. She attended every grandchild's school event she could throughout the years and was known as "Grandma Candy".
Funeral services for Anita will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville, with the Rev. Ron Spyker officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Monday, from 11:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services on Monday, at Attica-Venice cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Xenith Allgyre, three sons, James Allgyre, Roger Allgyre, Mark Allgyre, two daughters, Barbara and Diana (Brian) Cook, two sisters, Sarah Perkins, and Mary Hollingsworth, eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Charles and Marshall Allgyre, a daughter, Lola Brockway, two brothers, Richard and Earl Allgyre, and two sisters, Wanda Enders and Dorothy Kelbley.
George worked at General Electric in Tiffin, the Bloomville France Stone Quarry and Bonded Propane over the years. He was a 1947 graduate of Bloomville High School and was a United States Navy veteran. George will be remembered a man of strong dedication to his faith and God.

Matthew was born on November 7, 1984 in Willard, to Barry and Patricia (Daniel) Potts. He married Karilynn (Wall) Potts in Republic on November 2, 2013 and she survives in Republic.
Other survivors include his four children, Logan Potts, Hunter Potts, Peyton Potts, Poppy Potts all of Republic, a brother, Nate (Heidi) Potts of Republic, two sisters, Jen (Todd) Michaels of Republic and Shelly Potts of Tiffin.
Matthew worked at Penske in Clyde. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto racing, tractor pulls, farming and helping others. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his children. Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Bellevue High School.
Funeral services for Matthew will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville with Pastor Pamela Sayre officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Armstrong cemetery in Republic at a later date.

Survivors include his son, Jacob Kirby of Tiffin, a daughter, Karlee Kirby of Akron, two granddaughters, a brother, Raphael Kirby of Tiffin and a sister, Amanda Kirby of Toledo.
Rodrick worked as a supervisor at Seneca Tile. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and was a "Jack of All Trades".
There will be visitation for family and friends held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m., until 12:00 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. There will be no funeral service or burial held at this time.

Survivors include: her mother, Anita Whitney of Tiffin, a son, Benjamin (Kearra) Blaser of Bloomville, two daughters, Tori (Justin) Brenner of Bloomville, and Carolyn (Matthew) Schneider of Republic, six grandchildren, Samuel and Rylynn Blaser, Nathan and Henry Brenner, Bailey and Lane Schneider, and Paul Brenner will arrive soon, her mother in law, Marjorie Blaser of Bloomville, two special nieces, Michelle Gressman of Gibsonburg and Amanda Brubaker of Woodville, three sisters, Drusilla Jacobs of Gibsonburg, Diana Gingrich of Bloomville, and Laurie (Rick) Walters of Bloomville.
She was preceded in death by her father and her infant brother, Benjamin Hines.
Lyn was a homemaker, a Certified Aroma Therapist, and a 1983 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. Lyn’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and sitting on the beach at Sanibel Island, and on her private beach at home.
Services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11:00 am, at the Bloomville United Church of Christ, 31 N. Marion St., Bloomville, with Pastor Tom Kagy officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville. It was Lyn’s wishes that there would be no visitation.

Virgil J. Stevenson - March 09, 1934 - January 08, 2020

Virgil was born March 9, 1934, in Tiffin to William and Geraldine Stauffer- Kirchner) Stevenson. He married Wanda Ferree on Sept. 22, 1956, in Angola, Indiana and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include two nieces, Debra (Merle)Crawford, and Diane (Kevin) Myers both of Findlay, one nephew, Dennis Nivison of Lutz, Florida, two great nieces, Charlotte Nivison and Becky Myers, three great nephews, Brian (Rachel) Crawford of Brownsburg, Indiana, Shawn (Catherine) Crawford, and Destrey Nivison, both of Findlay, six great-great nieces, and three great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his step-father, Herschel Kirchner , and his mother and father in-law Elsie Deily and Delbert Ferree, a sister and brother-in-law Jo Ann and Dale Nivison, and sister in-law Jean Ferree, and great-great nephew, Allen Myers.
Virgil had worked for 39 years at American Standard in Tiffin, retiring on 1992 as a case maker. He was a 1952 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball on the Huffmon’s Bar softball team, during the 1960 season they won the city league championship and were runners up in the Seneca County fastpitch tournament.
He was a Korean Conflict army veteran serving from December of 1956 to December 1958.
He received awards from the Commandant of the I Corps noncommissioned officers academy for outstanding performance while at. School, and finishing seventh in his class of sixty-six is a highly commendable achievement, and this has brought a great honor not only to yourself but to your entire unit.
Services for Virgil will be Saturday January 11, 2020, at 1:00 pm. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at the corner of SR 101 and CR. 38 Tiffin. The United Veterans Council of Tiffin will conduct military graveside services.
Visitation will be Saturday January 11, 2020 from 11:30 am till 1:00 pm. at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home.
Virgil’s family would like to thank Dr. Amin and Dr. Rudy Vela, and the staff at Autunmwood Care Center in Tiffin for their great care.

Fern is survived by her six children, Marilyn (Paul) Wurm of New Washington, Bonnie (Ron) Lease of Tiffin, Mike (Gwen) Dentinger of Bloomville, Janice (Jim) Presler of Chatfield, Nancy (Chip) Hopkins of Bloomville and Paul (Christie) Dentinger of Anna, fourteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren, a brother, Dale (Alta) Ehresman and sisters-in laws, MaryAnn Dentinger and Marilyn Ehresman.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, grandson, Ryan Dentinger and siblings, John, Lee Vern, Richard, James Ehresman, Irene Stuckert, Jane Stewart, Virginia Auck and Annabelle Alkire.
Fern was a member of Our Lady of Hope and former member of St. Stephens Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Alter Society and a 1948 graduate of New Washington High School. Ferns greatest joy was providing a wonderful home for her family. She was a member of the Bloomville Interaction Council; The Mother’s Hour Club and was chief life guard and pony catcher for all the kids who frequented her house. She and Leonard loved to travel and actually drove to Alaska twice!
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with the Rev. Nathan Bockrath officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. St. Rt. 19, Bloomville. Vernon was a Truck Driver working for Standard Oil in Tiffin and retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Tiffin, the Ohio Sheriff Association and the AAA Auto Club. Vernon was a United States Navy Veteran serving during Korea.

Patricia was homemaker, a farmer and a former bus driver, for the Seneca East Schools. She was a 1952 graduate of Bloomville High School and, a member of the Attica United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and was a self- taught musician, and also being with her grandchildren, and especially her one day trips to Amish country with her brothers and sister-in laws.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Attica United Methodist Church, 98 Mill Street Attica, with Rev. Ron Spyker officiating, burial will follow at Attica-Venice Cemetery in Attica.

Over the years she made countless clothes for her family and hundreds of hand quilted quilts, throws, wall hangings, table runners, & pillows for family and friends. A woman of great faith and the HEART of our family she will be greatly missed.
