Britta Anne Perna - July 18, 1986 - May 11, 2024

Departed: 05/11/2024 (Lindenhurst)
Obituary Preview: Britta was born on July 18, 1986 to Charles and Kathleen at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She became a sister to her older brother, Edward. During her early childhood, she attended West Gates Elementary School, and shortly thereafter started third grade at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Eventually, she attended St. Anthony’s High School, and finalized her educational journey being home schooled for her remaining last three years.
Following her employment at Marshall’s, she was later hired at Pier 1 by her unbeknownst future husband that would last 18 years. Later on, she grew into her role as store manager for Godiva consecutively running Roosevelt field, Stonybrook, and the Walt Whitman mall locations.
Subsequently, she decided to make a radical shift in profession to go into the construction trade. She quickly became skilled and proficient in this specialized trade. Like many of the things Britta did in her life, she exceeded all expectations as a construction estimator for the glass and metal trade both union and nonunion. Britta loved her “fur baby’s” – Hans a mini pinscher, her first pup, followed by Max and Rocco, her two Italian Grey hounds. Britta also shared a passion for cooking and great food, wine and enjoying the outdoors by a cozy fire. If Britta wasn’t in the kitchen, she was outside cutting back her butterfly bushes, frolicking with her butterflies. She truly loved watching movies with her mom and her Aunt Maureen— fresh popcorn was a must!
Amongst Britta’s many abilities, she was always able to give the perfect gift fueled by her thoughtfulness for other people. On December 2023, Britta was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, underwent several cycles of chemotherapy until the disease ultimately took her life on May 11, 2024.
Britta’s striking green eyes and long silky multi blonde hair only added to the beautiful person, that the world couldn’t afford to lose.

Donald Wilfred Hall - May 31, 1945 - April 30, 2024

Departed: 04/30/2024 (Lindenhurst)
Obituary Preview: Donald Wilfred Hall was born on May 31, 1945 to Frederick (“Fred”) Emmanuel Hall and Anna (“Anne”) Einsiedel Hall. He was the second of four Hall children, Carol his oldest sibling, Alice his younger sister, and Lois, the youngest.
As a youth, Don was mischievous and liked to play simple practical jokes on his sisters. One favorite of his was to clog the water faucet with soap. Then he would wait for one of his sisters to turn on the water. As the pressure would build up, the soap would pop out and his sister would be splashed with water.
As he got older Don became interested in cars and other mechanical things. He went to East Carolina University for his undergraduate degree and got a Masters degree in business at Dowling College. In college Don was called “Hallsworthy” by his friends. It was an apt description that he eventually used as his primary email address. Don’s passion for cars continued throughout his life. He helped Lois purchase her first car, and he was always available to counsel on car choices and any mechanical issues that came up for any in his family.
Don’s knowledge of mechanical “things” and his business degree brought him to Harman Kardon working in purchasing. He specialized in audio equipment. He worked there for many years until he retired.
Although Don never married, and he generally tended to enjoy peace and tranquility at home, he maintained a strong bond with his family. This was especially the case with his oldest sister Carol, her husband Jose (who is now deceased) and her children, Jessica (as well as her husband Michael (“Mike”) and Jillian. For many decades Don would go every Saturday evening to Carol’s for dinner. On these occasions, other friends of the family, siblings, and cousins would make appearances and spend time with Don on their own schedules.
In fact, blending the three things Don loved most—family, cars and food—he was able to form strong bonds with others, including Mike’s friends. When the usual Saturday dinner was moved to Jessica and Mike’s for a barbecue, Don would enjoy spending time with some of Mike’s childhood friends, and would even ride in the vintage 1956 Cadillac one friend owned. Don loved to eat, even though he was not much of a chef himself. He would work tirelessly in his garden, growing fresh herbs and vegetables. He even developed his own method of composting. It might be that this unique method led to his extraordinary results. Despite the fact that his next-door neighbor never had success growing zucchini, Don was able to harvest a robust crop of zucchini—which he happily shared with the neighbor. He also harvested large amounts of tomatoes that he would prepare and preserve over the winter so he could have fresh tomatoes year-round. Also, Don’s memory of delicious food was impressive. He savored the memory of a massive Tomahawk steak that his niece Jillian cooked. He was able to describe in such stunning detail each bite of that steak months later that listening to his description of the meal would make your mouth water!
Don died on April 30, 2024 after battling cancer and diabetes for many years. He is survived by his siblings Carol, Alice and Lois, as well as his nieces and nephew, Nell, Jessica, Jillian and Barry. He will be missed by those he loved, and who loved him too.

Guy Thomas Manzari - July 27, 1932 - April 13, 2024

Departed: 04/13/2024 (Lindenhurst)
Obituary Preview: Guy T Manzari
Lifelong resident of Lindenhurst for 91 rich and fulfilling years, predeceased by his wife Geraldine. Survived by his 4 children, Jeanne Gerardi (Robert), Joanne Frank (Eric), Suzanne Brogan (Philip) & Guy Jr. (Terri), 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Elise, Mikayla, Thomas & Madison, and sister Loretta Kelly.
Guy also had many friends and acquaintances, having acquired them through his years as a Lindenhurst resident and business owner.
Guy was an active 75-year member of Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire Department, in Breslau Engine Company No. 1. and a member of Lindenhurst Historical Society.
Avid woodworker and cabinetmaker, starting as an apprentice with his grandfather (his grandchildren’s great-great grandfather) at 16 to eventually run the cabinetmaking business at 18. His handiwork is still found throughout Lindenhurst, whether in wood benches or pews in the Village Museum or churches, or cabinets in local bakeries, delis, doctors’ offices, or other businesses. He had built the original wood bar in Barnacle Bills, and a circular staircase at a building in Phelps Lane Park, North Babylon with his grandfather. You cannot ride down any road in Lindenhurst without encountering a house where he either worked on the kitchen, bathroom, or staircase.
He loved antique cars and trucks and helped to restore the antique fire truck still used today by Lindenhurst Fire Department. He loved bagpipes and Spike Jones.
Always enjoyed planting his victory garden, mostly tomatoes. Taught all his children how to plant the seeds or tomato plants to get the best harvest.
He was a strong believer in fixing everything himself; plumbing, electrical, auto mechanics, minor construction, and indoor painting, unknowingly and patiently teaching his children the same skills and about the tools needed they would later use in life.
Always insisted on having a fresh Christmas tree and even brought home one he had cut himself while restoring our former family cabin in New Hampshire (but it was more like a Charlie Brown Tree). He always prepared our Christmas Eve dinner as was his specialty, and made delicious, super huge meatballs.
We always had our family vacations during Fourth of July week where we would pack up our camper and head to New Hampshire to either our cabin in the woods or meet up with relatives at Greenfield State Park campground. The best was Columbus Day weekend when Fall foliage was at its peak.
His legacy will live on, and he will always and forever be in our hearts.
